Here’s an update for you guys to read while you’re waiting for the show to start. I’m just happy we don’t need buffers anymore! It’s pretty long, so doesn’t this get me out of updating for a few weeks now?
Anyway, enjoy!
Chapter 21
Lana resisted the urge to open her eyes. She knew it was morning due to the sunlight pouring into her room. She rolled over to the other side of her bed and buried her face in the pillow she found there. She took in a deep breath and let out a sigh. Her pillow still smelled like Clark. She smiled to herself. Even though he wasn’t here, the essence of him remained. Lana opened her eyes and saw his shirt still hanging from her bedpost. She sat up in bed and pulled his shirt down. She pressed her cheek into it, feeling the softness of the well-worn material.
“Ahhh, Clark…Why did Nell have to show up last night?” She hung his shirt back up. She’ll have to remember to give it back to him next time he came over. Lana still had her dream fresh in her mind. She found the notebook on her nightstand and opened it up. She quickly wrote down what happened and knew she had to go to the caves today. When she was done writing she stood up and walked into the living room, taking her notebook with her. She placed it on the dining table before heading to the bathroom to get ready.
Lana gathered her jacket, purse and a flashlight and drove to the caves. It was dim inside, so she flicked on the flashlight. She found the part of the wall with the strange markings and octagonal depression. She wasn’t sure what to think. Was there some kind of alien technology in the wall? She was about to touch it when something else caught her eye. It was a drawing of a woman and below it was a design that matched Naman’s bracelet.
‘This must be Leotie,’ she thought to herself. Lana climbed the ridge running the length of the wall until she was next to the drawing. She studied it a little more and reached out and touched it. Suddenly, Lana saw a blinding bright light and then all went black.
A month had passed since they had hidden Naman’s vessel in the caves. His wound was healed by the next day. The weather was starting to change. Autumn had arrived. Leotie’s father had stepped out of the teepee for a short time, leaving Leotie and Naman standing there alone. She took this opportunity to pull him down into a spontaneous, intense kiss. She smiled as they broke apart. Then, a look of sadness fell across her face.
“Winter is coming. We won’t be able to meet at the caves soon.”
“What do you mean?” he asked.
“Snow is coming. They’ll be able to track our footsteps to the caves.”
Naman pulled her closer. “Then, maybe I’ll just have to fly us there…What is this ‘snow’ that you speak of?”
“You’ve never seen snow? When it gets cold, these white flakes fall from the sky. It blankets the ground and covers the trees. Everything is this pure white. It’s really beautiful.”
Naman thought for a moment. “But not as beautiful as you.”
Leotie blushed slightly at his complement. She reached up as Naman leaned down to kiss her again when her father came through the door.
“Leotie!” he screamed. His eyes were wide with shock. Leoie and Naman jumped apart at his booming voice.
Her father just looked at them, anger slowly rising.
“Naman, leave us.”
“But, Father…”
“Leave us!”
Naman saw the look of anger in her father’s eyes and left the teepee. Her father paced back and forth for a minute, not saying a word. She stood there, eyes downcast, dreading the silence more than what he was going to say.
“Father, say something…anything,” she pleaded.
“How could you do this?!” he yelled.
“I was only following my heart.”
“Your heart? You are being foolish. You are blinded to what he really is.”
Leotie started to get angry. “And what is he?! Sure, he’s not from here, but you don’t know him like I do. He’s the kindest man I’ve ever met. He has a good heart, and when I’m with him, I feel something I’ve never felt before.”
“How long has this been going on?!...He’s not one of us! You’ve seen what he is capable of. You must stop this!”
“Father, you don’t understand-,”
“No! Leotie, I forbid this!”
“But I love him!”
“Love? You are too young to know what love is.”
“No, I’m not! I know I love him…I love him more every day. When we’re apart, my heart aches. And when we’re together…” Leotie was getting more emotional. “Don’t tell me I don’t know what love is!” With that she ran out of the tent crying.
She ran from the village, all the way down to the river. She finally stopped and sat herself down in the tall grasses near the water. She cried hot, angry tears.
‘He’s being so unreasonable,’ she thought to herself. ‘He doesn’t understand.’
Frustrated, she pulled at some of the tall brown grasses and tore them in her hands. Then, she threw the tiny bits into the water. When she had finally calmed down, she picked herself up, wiped the nearly dried tears off her face and headed back towards the village.
On her way back, she wasn’t paying attention to where she was walking. Suddenly, she heard the rattle. Leotie stopped dead in her tracks. Her heart felt like it was going to jump out of her chest. She slowly looked around, trying not to breathe too loud. There it was…The snake was right beside her. She very carefully took a step away from it, trying not to provoke it, but when she did, she heard several more rattles. Leotie had unknowingly come upon a nest of rattlesnakes.
‘Oh, God!’ she thought. She took in a deep, calming breath. ‘O.K. You can do this…Just don’t move too fast.’ She took a step in the direction from where she came, but the rattling did not stop. She took another step back and heard a new rattle. She turned but it was too late. The snake attacked and bit into her leg.
“AAUUUUUUUGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!” she screamed. She immediately fell to the ground in pain and held her leg. She began to panic. Then, she called for the one person she knew who would be able to hear her from this distance.
“Naman!...Naman!”
Back at the village, Naman had heard the muffled yells coming from their teepee. He saw Leotie run out of it crying. A moment later, her father emerged. Naman confronted him.
“You have to know, that I would never do anything to hurt your daughter.”
“You don’t know anything about her!...We saved your life…We allowed you stay here with us, and you do this? Just stay away from us!”
“No…You don’t understand!...I love her.”
“If you love her, you’ll stay away from her.” Leotie’s father turned around and went back into the teepee. Naman was about to follow him to talk to him more when he heard Leotie’s faint cries for help. He sped off as fast as he could towards her voice. When he found her, she was lying on the ground crying, clutching her lower leg. He quickly knelt down beside her.
“Leotie, what’s wrong?” he asked, panicking.
Leotie looked up to him. “Take me to my father,” she said, barely audible.
Naman picked her up in his arms. She was so limp. Her eyes were almost closed. He ran back to the village and was there in a split second.
“Help! Somebody help me!” he screamed. Leotie’s father came out of the tent. The whole village was watching as Naman carried an unmoving Leotie. Her father ran over to them.
“What did you do?!” he demanded.
“Nothing…I found her on the ground and she was holding her leg.” Naman walked past him and entered the tent. He laid her down on her sleeping blanket. She made no movement. Her father knelt down next to her, pushing Naman away. He inspected her leg and found two small puncture wounds.
“Rattlesnake!” He quickly pulled out his medicine back and began to make a mixture that would pull the poison out. He placed the mixture in a leather band and wrapped it around her leg. Then, he found a cup and placed some leaves in it. He grabbed some hot water and poured it in, making a strong tea. He placed Leotie’s head in his lap and held the cup to her lips, trying to make her drink. She woke slightly and took a sip, her face grimacing at the bitter taste.
“Leotie, you must drink more. It’ll help stop the effects of the poison.” Leotie opened her eyes and looked up at her father. She tried to drink as much of the tea as she could before passing out.
Naman, meanwhile, had been watching helplessly while her father helped her. He had all these powers and none of them could help her.
“Is she going to be O.K.?” he asked.
“I don’t know. It’s too soon to tell.”
“C-Can I do anything?”
Her father’s eyes moved from her face to Naman’s. “I think you’ve done enough. Just…leave.” He looked back down at his daughter and stroked her cheek.
Naman was taken aback. It was like a knife pierced his heart. He reluctantly left the tent.
A few hours had passed. Naman had watched the tent, waiting for any news. He knew she was not dead…but he could hear her heartbeat getting slower. He finally saw her father exit the tent. He was holding a bowl, most likely to get some more water. His face was so haggard.
Naman took this opportunity to sneak back into the tent, but he was not prepared for what he saw. She was lying there with beads of sweat on her forehead. Her skin had an awful grayish tone to it. She was so pale. He sat next to her and held her hand.
“Leotie? Can you hear me?”
She cracked open her eyes at the sound of his voice. She smiled when she saw him.
“Where’s my father?” she whispered.
“He stepped out…He’ll be back soon…How do you feel?”
She looked up at him, her vision slightly blurred. “Naman, I’m dying…I can feel it.”
He shook his head. “No…You can’t…I won’t let it happen.” Leotie reached up and touched his face gently.
“Sometimes I would dream that you are my husband…I wish I was your wife…We would have been so happy.”
Naman’s eyes had finally released the tears he had been holding back. It was the first time he had ever cried. Leotie wiped them away with her thumb.
“I love you,” she mumbled, before falling unconscious again. Her hand fell from his face and landed on the ground next to him.
“No!...No!!! Leotie? Don’t leave me!” The tears began to flow harder. He picked up her hand and held it to his face. He remained in that position for a few moments. Then, a thought entered his mind. He wanted to fulfill her last wish. Within a second, he had sped off to the caves and came back. In his hand was that piece of sharp metal. Naman sat next to her again and wiped the strands of wet hair from her face.
“I know this isn’t exactly how it’s done, but I want to be your husband, too…I love you.” He bent down and gave her a light kiss. He then lifted her hand and made a small cut on her palm with the piece of metal. He also made a small cut on his hand. Naman held her hand in his with their palms together. Their blood was slowly mixing with each other, and entering each other’s bodies through their hands. He would carry a part of her and she would carry a part of him in her forever. Their spirits will be connected for all eternity now…they will be together forever.
Naman and Leotie remained like this for a few minutes. A few moments later, the color on her cheeks started to come back. The gray hue of her skin disappeared and her breathing wasn’t so ragged anymore. She opened her eyes and looked around. Her sights landed on Naman, who was holding her hand.
“Naman?” she asked softly.
He shot his eyes up when he heard her.
“Leotie! You’re all right!”
“Yeah…I feel better…What happened?” She followed his gaze to their interlocked hands. She realized what he had done.
“Naman, how?”
He reached behind him and showed her the piece of metal.
“I didn’t know what else to do. I thought that if we joined, our spirits would be together forever. If we couldn’t be together in this life, maybe we could in the next. I just didn’t want to lose you.”
Leotie pulled her hand from his and sat up. She looked at her palm and rubbed it.
“You…healed me.”
“I guess I did.”
“You healed me!” she said excitedly. She lunged forward and wrapped her arms around his neck. He wrapped his arms around her and held her tight, relieved she was going to live.
“I love you, Naman,” she said after a few moments of silence.
“And I love you.”
Lana awoke, finding herself on the cave floor. She sat up and looked around confused.
‘What just happened?’
She stood up slowly. Her head was pounding and her whole body ached from the fall. She brushed the dirt and leaves off of her legs and looked up at the drawing of Leotie.
‘Wait a minute…When I touched it…The light…But how? Only Naman can activate these.’ Lana began to remember the vision she saw.
‘The blood!...Naman’s mixed with Leotie’s. It must have changed her somehow…and she must have passed it on…I must have some part of Naman in me!’
Lana knew she had to go see Clark. She looked at her watch and realized she had been out for over two hours. She ran to her SUV and drove quickly over to the Kent farm. She ran up to the loft.
“Clark! Clark, I need to tell you something!” But he wasn’t there. Lana waited a few minutes, pacing back and forth. She decided to write down what happened in her vision before she forgot. She rifled through his desk, looking for a piece of paper, but couldn’t find any. Then, she thought maybe he had a notebook in his footlocker next to the couch. Lana pulled back the blanket that covered it and opened it up. She had to dig a bit, but she found some paper. She also spotted something else…a blue bandana. She carefully picked it up and she felt that there was something inside. She unwrapped it slowly and gasped at what it was.
‘Naman’s bracelet! But…Why would Clark have this?’
She looked deeper into the footlocker and found piles of photographs and drawings of the paintings in the cave. There were also translations of some of the symbols: Fire, Water, Air. Clark’s obsession with the caves was more than she thought it was. Then, she saw something sparkle at her. She reached down and pulled it out. She stood up.
‘My necklace! The stone…it’s clear…how?’
Lana started to shake. She put the necklace down. Her mind was putting together all the pieces: The necklace and the way he always felt ill around her when she wore it, the obsession with the caves, Naman’s bracelet, the way he’s always there to save the day, using the excuse that he was just lucky or it was adrenaline. She started to feel a little light-headed. Lana did not hear the footsteps that were behind her.
“Lana? I’ve been looking for you all day. Where have you been?” Clark asked.
Lana did not turn around. She stared to become angry. Clark saw that she was in the footlocker.
“Lana-,”
Lana slowly balled up her fist and turned around, fury in her eyes. When she saw Clark, she let her hand fly, hitting him across the face. Clark looked at her in shock and rubbed his cheek.
“Don’t you dare tell me that hurt!”

CLark might be annoyed that Lana was digging around in his locker, but she can explain she was originally looking for writing materials, Clark has little defense against what Lana's mad about.

Chapter 22
“Do you think I'm stupid?!” she screamed. “Did you think I wasn’t going to figure it out?”
“Lana, I don’t know what-,”
“Stop it! Just stop lying! I know who…or what you are.”
Clark knew he couldn’t hide anymore.
“Lana…” He reached out to her, but she jumped back.
“Don’t!”
“Lana, you know I wouldn’t hurt you.”
“Clark…I don’t even know you…You said this time would be different, but it’s no different…You’re still lying…You’ve been lying to me all along.” Lana began to tear up.
“No, not all along…I didn’t even know about myself until my dad told me four years ago,” he tried to explain.
“Oh, so you’ve only been lying for four years…that makes things so much better,” she seethed.
“Lana, you have no idea how much I wanted to-,”
“To what, Clark?! To tell me? How many opportunities did you have over the past four years. Let me see…Gee, there was the tornadoes, but you said you weren’t in the truck. Of course, that was a lie. Hmmm…how about when Van McNulty told me you were bullet-proof…And then when I noted that you were at all three fires that broke out that summer…And when Adam was after me and you got to the storage area from the crisis center in a matter of seconds…There, that’s four right there and there were probably plenty of other times you could have said something. You know, Clark, you should have been an actor, because you could’ve won an Oscar for that performance.”
Clark had never seen her so angry…not even when they were children and Pete used to pull her pigtails. Her face had turned an angry red. He tried to get a word in, but she was ranting.
“Lana, I-,”
“I told you everything, Clark. I trusted you…but apparently you didn’t trust me. You know, I don’t know what hurts more. The fact that you lied to me or that you didn’t trust me.” Lana turned and stared out the loft window, tears began to flow down her cheeks. Clark came up behind her and placed his hand on her shoulder. She immediately shrugged it away. There was a long silence between them. Clark didn’t know what to say to her. He saw her rubbing her hand.
“H-How’s your hand?” he asked, just to break the silence.
Lana turned around and glared at him. “How do you think it is? It hurts.”
Clark reached for her hand, but she moved away.
“I have to go.” She wiped the tears that had moistened her face. She hurried towards the stairs, not even looking at Clark.
“Lana, don’t you think we should talk about this?” Lana stopped but didn’t turn around.
“No…right now I…I can’t even look at you.” With that, she ran down the stairs and climbed into her SUV. Clark’s heart stung with that comment.
Lana put her car in gear and tore down the gravel driveway, wanting to leave as fast as she could. She sped down the country road, her tears blurring her vision. She wiped them away, but they were coming so fast. She finally had to pull over to the side of the road, where she sobbed until she was hoarse and her eyes ran dry.
She managed to pull herself together and somehow was able to drive home. When she arrived at the Talon, she quickly walked passed everyone with her eyes cast down, so no one would see how red and swollen they were. Lana fumbled with her keys at her door, nearly dropping them several times while trying to fit the key in the lock. When she finally got the door open she slammed it shut behind her. She was still filled with anger, not to mention the pain her hand was causing her. She threw her keys into the living room and stormed into the kitchen. She grabbed the flower-patterned kitchen towel from the handle of the refrigerator and opened the freezer. Lana placed several ice cubes in it and wrapped it around her now slightly swollen hand. She walked into her bedroom and stopped when she saw the picture on her dresser of her and Clark at prom. She took a deep breath, trying to quell the tears that begun to sting her eyes. She opened her dresser drawer, placed the photo face down in it, and shoved it closed. Lana curled up on her bed, trying to fight the small whimpers coming out of her. The man she loved, who she thought she knew, had lied to her for years, and that hurt her immensely…and he wasn’t even human. She closed her eyes, ignoring the tap at the door.
“Lana? Lana, I know you’re in there. It’s Chloe.” Chloe was in the Talon and had seen Lana in her flustered state going up to her apartment. She didn’t know what had upset her, but she wanted to find out. “Come on, Lana…Open up.” Chloe heard a small voice.
“Go away,” Lana croaked. Her throat hurt from her sobbing along the side of the road.
Chloe knocked on the door again, but Lana pulled a pillow over her head. “Leave me alone, Chloe. I don’t want to see anybody right now.”
Chloe stopped knocking. ‘This is bad. She won’t even open the door,’ she thought. ‘What could have made her so upset?’ Chloe thought for a moment.
“Clark.”
Chloe left the Talon and drove to the Kent farm. She hopped out of her red bug and stormed into the barn.
“Clark?! You in here?”
“Up here,” she heard from the top of the stairs. Chloe began the journey to the top of the loft.
“Clark, I just saw Lana at the Talon. She’s so upset she won’t even come to the door. So, I asked myself, ‘What could have gotten the girl so upset?’ So, I used my reporter instincts and one name came to mind…So, Clark, what the hell did you do now?” When she reached the top of the stairs she found him sitting on his couch. His was leaning over with his head in his hands. He ran his fingers through his hair and looked up at her. His eyes were rimmed red and tears were welling up again. Chloe sat down beside him and placed her hand on his shoulder. He looked away.
“Clark? What’s wrong?...What happened?” she asked concerned.
He turned to her and answered. “She knows,” he managed to get out.
“Oh, God!”

Chapter 23
“How did she find out?” Chloe asked.
“About a month ago, she started having these dreams about Naman.”
“Naman? You mean the Kawatche story in the caves?”
“Yeah. The dreams kept progressing, but then we found out that they weren’t dreams…they were memories of a Kawatche girl who lived over 500 years ago.”
“Memories?” Chloe said skeptically.
“It’s true. Lana’s dreams are the memories of the girl who Naman fell in love with the first time he came here. She knew about who he was, where he came from and what he could do.”
“Wait, Clark…But that would mean-”
“That Lana knew all about them, too.”
“But you still didn’t tell her, did you?”
Clark looked down and shook his head ‘no’.
“Clark, what makes you think you could hide from her anymore? She was bound to figure it out. All she ever wanted from you was honesty. You should have just come clean with her.”
“I couldn’t…”
“Clark!”
“Chloe, I don’t need a lecture right now…I thought she wouldn’t make the connection, but then she found these.”
Clark pulled out the bracelet and the necklace.
“And I assume she did not take it well.”
“No…She hit me.”
“She hit you? Man, she must’ve been really mad.”
“I’ve never seen her so angry. She stormed out of here crying saying she can’t stand to look at me…She hates me, Chloe.”
“I’m sure she doesn’t, Clark. Just give her some time. She just found out her boyfriend is an alien. She needs time to digest this.”
“I should have gone after her…I have to talk to her.” Clark got up and started down the stairs.
“Clark, wait…Based on what I saw at the Talon, she doesn’t want to see anyone right now.”
“So, what am I supposed to do? Just sit here and wait?...Chloe, will you talk to her?”
“Tell you what, Clark. I’ll go over there first thing in the morning. That’ll give her enough time to calm down. Hopefully she’ll come to the door this time.”
“Thanks, Chloe. You’re a real friend. I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
The next morning…
Ring-ring…Ring-ring…
Chloe leaned over in her bed and looked at the clock to see what time it was. She cursed silently and answered her cell phone.
“Hullo?” she mumbled. “Clark?...No, I haven’t talked to her yet…Because it’s 6:30 in the morning!...I know, I will…I don’t know. In a few hours…Yes, I promise…Not sure yet. I’m sure I’ll think of something to say…Clark…Clark!...Calm down…Take a deep breath…That’s better…God! I guess we can count super-panic mode as one of your powers now…I’m just kidding!...I’ll come over after I talk to her…All right…Good-bye.”
Chloe closed her phone and laid back in bed. She let out a sigh when she realized there was no way she was going to be able to get back to sleep now. She reluctantly pulled off the covers and headed to the bathroom to get ready for the day.
Chloe drove over to the Talon around 10:00. She figured Lana would be up by then. She walked over to the counter and ordered two lattes to go. She took the drinks and climbed the stairs to Lana’s apartment.
“Knock, knock…Lana? It’s me, Chloe.” Chloe listened at the door. She could hear movement, but no one came to the door. “Lana, I know you’re in there. I just want to talk.” Still no answer, so she tried to entice her. “I’ve got a latte with your name on it,” she sang.
Chloe heard the sound of her feet padding on the hard floor. She heard the lock turn and then the footsteps faded away. Chloe opened the door and peeked in. Lana was in the kitchen leaning up against the counter. Chloe walked over to her and saw that she was eating a pint of ice cream. Her eyes were red and puffy.
“A little early for Chunky Monkey, isn’t it?” Chloe jested.
“It’s not early if you never went to sleep.” Lana took in another spoonful. “Did you know that the little convenience store down the road is open 24 hours a day? I found that out at 2:00 this morning…And they are so friendly. They don’t even ask questions when you buy three pints of ice cream. They just smile and tell me to have a nice night.”
Chloe looked over into the trash can and saw two empty containers of Ben & Jerry’s. She looked at Lana as she took another bite.
“Lana, you’re going to make yourself sick…Here, at least drink this.” She slid the latte over to her and attempted to take away the ice cream, but Lana just glared at her and Chloe retreated her hand, not wanting to feel her bite.
“O.K., O.K… Keep the ice cream.”
The two of them stood in silence, Lana eating the ice cream and Chloe drinking her latte waiting for her to say something. Chloe decided she should start.
“So…I hear you have a mean right hook.”
Lana looked up at her. “He told you about that, huh? I’m surprised he was able to tell the truth about something.” Chloe could tell that she was still really steamed.
“Lana, Clark asked me to come over and talk to you. He figured you probably wouldn’t want to see him yet.”
“At least he’s right about something,” Lana snapped.
“Look, he feels really bad about this.”
“He feels bad?! Do you have any idea what happened? No, of course not. That would involve Clark actually telling the truth.”
“Lana-,”
“Look, Chloe, I know you’re trying to help, but this is something I can’t talk to you about.” Lana ate another spoonful of ice cream. Chloe knew she had to get the subject out in the open.
“Sure, I understand…But I know that if I just found out my boyfriend was an alien with superpowers, I’d want to talk to someone about it.”
Lana dropped her spoon in shock. She stared with wide eyes and mouth gaping at Chloe. Lana’s mouth moved as if to say ‘How’, but all that came out was a few short squeaks.
“I found out last year.” Chloe watched as all the color drained from Lana’s face. She started to teeter a bit and held onto the counter. Chloe grabbed her before she fell to the ground. “Come here.” She led Lana to a chair and helped her sit down. Lana leaned over to help bring some blood back up to her head. She took deep breaths.
“Feel better?” Chloe asked as she rubbed circles on her back. Lana nodded. She sat upright.
“I don’t believe it. He trusted you enough to tell you, but he couldn’t tell me.” Tears started forming in her eyes.
“Lana, he didn’t tell me.”
“Then how?”
Chloe knew that the last thing Lana wanted to hear was the name Alicia Baker, so she decided to gloss over the details.
“It’s not important. I just saw him do something and he didn’t know I saw. I didn’t say anything at first. I figured if he wanted me to know, he’d tell me. Eventually I confronted him on it, and he told me everything.”
“And, you’re O.K. with this?”
“I admit it…I freaked out a little at first, but it doesn’t change the way I feel about him…What about you? Do you still love him?” Chloe asked.
Lana thought for a moment. “I don’t know…There’s this whole other side of him that I don’t know.”
“But he’s still the same person. You know, even though he kept part of himself hidden, he’s still the sweetest, kindest person I know, and he’s so in love with you.”
“Clark once told me that when you find something out about someone, it colors everything…It’s true.”
“That’s not necessarily a bad thing. He has a good heart, Lana, and isn’t that what matters?”
“I don’t know…I don’t know if that’s enough anymore,” she said sadly.
“You know, Lana…Clark only has two weaknesses in this world.”
“Two? But I thought the only thing that could hurt him was the green meteor rock. What’s the other one?”
“It’s you.”
“Me?”
“Yes, you. He fell in love with you the first time he saw you.”
“Chloe, we were five.”
“And he’s spent every moment since then trying to become someone you could admire…someone you could love. Part of the reason he’s the person he is today is because of you. He loves you so much that he wouldn’t be able to live with himself if anything happened to you. That’s one of the reasons he was afraid to tell you. He was afraid that if you knew and if the wrong people found out, that they’d hurt you to get to him.”
“But I’d never tell anyone. He’s got to believe that.”
“He knows that. But he’s been afraid his whole life that if someone found out about him, that they’d take him away and lock him up in some lab somewhere and he’d never see anyone else again. He’s terrified that they’d do experiments on him. So, Clark decided that no one would know…not even his closest friends.”
“But you know…Who else knows?” Lana asked.
“Well, his parents of course…and Pete.”
“Pete knows?”
“And Alicia,” she mumbled.
“Did you say Alicia?...Alicia Baker?!..He hardly knew her! Why the hell did he tell her?!” Lana stood up and paced back and forth as she spoke.
“Lana, calm down. None of us found out because he wanted to tell us. We only found out because of unusual circumstances. You’re the only one he really wanted to tell his secret to.”
“I guess he didn’t want it enough.” Lana could feel tears beginning to sting her eyes.
“Lana…”
“Chloe, I’m really tired…C-Could you leave, p-please?”
Chloe saw the tears she was fighting back. She nodded and walked towards the door. She opened it and turned around before exiting.
“You know where to find me if you want to talk.” With that, Chloe left and closed the door behind her. She could hear Lana sobbing from behind the door, and it broke her heart. Chloe slowly walked down the stairs and out the Talon. She got in her car and drove over to Clark’s to tell him how it went.

Here's the next chapter. Sorry I haven't been updated very regularly, but with being sick and other things going on, it's just getting harder to find time to write. Anyway, this fic is nearing the end, and I appreciate everyone for sticking with me. You're comments really keep me going. So, without further ado, here is chapter 24.
Chapter 24
Clark was up in the loft pacing back and forth waiting to hear from Chloe. If he had been pacing at super-speed he would have worn a hole right through the floor. He wrung his hands as he paced impatiently. It was nearly noon. He knew Chloe would have gone over to Lana’s by now. With every minute that passed, Clark had to use all his will to resist calling her cell. He sat down on the couch and tried to relax, but he was too anxious. He opened up the footlocker and pulled out the necklace. He held it up and let the sunlight hit it. The clear stone breaking the white light into several rainbows that danced on the walls of the barn. Clark rubbed the stone back and forth in his fingers and wondered if the girl this necklace belongs to will ever come back to him. He sat there in silence for a few minutes staring at the necklace until he heard a car door slam. He carefully set the necklace back in its place in the footlocker and closed the lid.
“Clark? Are you up there?”
“Yeah, Chloe. Come on up.”
Clark stood at the top of the stairs waiting for Chloe to come up. When Chloe reached the top and saw the hope in his eyes, she knew this conversation was going to be difficult.
“So?...What did she say?” he said eagerly.
Chloe stared at the floor fidgeted with the strap of her purse. She couldn’t bring herself to look him in the eye. “Ummm…Clark, let’s sit down.”
Clark’s face fell when he heard this. He knew things did not go well. They walked over to the couch and sat down.
“She’s still angry, isn’t she?”
“Well, can you blame her? You didn’t think she was going to come running over here and jump in your arms within a day, did you?...She’s hurting pretty bad.”
“How bad?”
“Well, she didn’t go to sleep at all and I found her eating ice cream this morning.”
“It wasn’t Ben & Jerry’s, was it?”
“Yeah…Chunky Monkey. Three pints of it…How did you know that?”
“She always eats Ben & Jerry’s when she’s upset.” Clark wrung his hands and sat back. “I really screwed up this time. She’s never going to forgive me for lying to her, is she?”
“I don’t know…All she ever wanted from you was honesty.” She looked over at her friend and his sullen expression. “Clark, she just needs more time. You can’t imagine how confused she is…She needs to make sense of all this…of all the strange things she’s seen in the past. She has questions that she’s trying to find the answers to.”
“Then I should go talk to her.” He made a move to get off the couch, but Chloe put her hand on his shoulder and pulled him back down.
“No, Clark…At this point you’d just push her farther away…Give her some space…Let her come to you when she’s ready.”
“Problem is, she may never be ready…Chloe, I don’t know what I’d do without her. You don’t know how much I need her.” Clark leaned forward and placed his face in his hands. She heard him let out a sigh full of frustration.
“Clark, you’re getting ahead of yourself. It hasn’t even been 24 hours. You just have to have patience.” Chloe made an attempt to lighten the mood. “You remember patience, don’t cha Clark? You know, the days before X-ray vision when you actually had to wait until Christmas to see what you got?” she smirked.
Clark looked up at her and saw the look on her face. He gave her a barely noticeable smile.
“See? I knew I could get a smile out of you.” She put her arm around his shoulders and gave him a little squeeze. “Everything will work out. You’ll see,” she assured him.
“I hope you’re right, Chloe…I hope you’re right.”
A week later…
Lana had not seen nor heard from Clark. He had taken Chloe’s advice to leave her alone and let her decide when she wanted to see him. Chloe had called and stopped by a few times to see if she was all right. She still had dark circles under her eyes from lack of sleep. After the first few days Chloe noticed that Lana’s clothes seemed to hang on her. She came to the realization that she must not be eating well. She snuck a peek in her refrigerator and found nothing except a half-eaten slice of pizza that looked like it had been in there for over a week and a bottle of water. The freezer wasn’t much better. All that was in there was a nearly empty container of ice cream, probably the end of that third pint she saw Lana eating.
Chloe knew she couldn’t live on ice cream alone, so she started to bring take-out with her whenever she visited, and made sure that she ate. Although Lana didn’t say anything, Chloe just wanted to be there in case she wanted to talk. She made sure her one-sided conversations were long enough for Lana to stop picking at her food and finally start eating it. Sometimes she was there for a couple hours before Lana finished. One day Chloe stopped by, but Lana was not there. She knew Lana had not left her apartment since that day she confronted Clark. ‘At least she got out of this apartment,’ she thought. Maybe it was a sign. She only wished she knew where she went.
Earlier that morning, Lana knew she needed answers to her questions, and she knew of one person who could give them to her. She pulled up in front of the old building that used to be a dorm. Several years ago, it had been turned into a building that would hold the offices of the Central Kansas professors. This building didn’t quite fit in with the nearby modern ones, but it had character. It still had the old wooden six-paned double-hung windows. Lana entered the building and looked around. The light yellow walls complemented the hardwood floors. Bright-colored flyers announcing college events were taped to the plaster walls. She found the spiral staircase and went up to the second floor. Each wooden step creaked as she stepped on them. She slowly walked down the long hallway until she found room 235. The door was open. She saw the gray-haired professor hunched over his desk with his back to her, paging through an old book. Lana wasn’t sure if she should knock or not. She stepped in the doorway and the floorboards creaked under her. He raised his head at the sound, but did not turn around.
“Come in, Lana.”
“Professor Willowbrook, how did you know it was me?”
Joseph turned around to face her.
“I’ve been expecting you.”

Chapter 25
“How did you know I was coming?” she asked.
Professor Willowbrook stood up and faced her. He had a glint in his eye. “Let’s just say I had a feeling I’d be seeing you again soon.”
Lana looked at him suspiciously. “Clark told you about what happened, didn’t he?”
“He called me yesterday. Although, I can’t say I didn’t see this coming.”
“Why didn’t you tell me about Clark?”
“First of all, it was not my place to tell you. It was Clark’s. However, it is unfortunate that you found out the way you did.”
“Yeah…I thought I knew him…I actually don’t know him at all…I mean, he’s from another planet! And he has powers! He should have told me,” she said with anger.
“Come now, Lana…On some level, haven’t you always known that Clark was special?”
“Special?”
“Yes…Special. Lana, you have no idea of the great task he is about to take on. He is so close to finally coming to terms with his heritage and embracing his destiny.”
“Here you go and talk about destiny again. What exactly is his destiny?” she asked.
“Clark thinks that he was sent here by his father to rule over this world…which is why he’s been avoiding finding out about his heritage. He believes his father is an uncaring monster, who only wants his son to dominate over an inferior race.”
“Well, from what I learned about people from his world, he’s not that far off.”
“No,” Joseph contradicted. “Clark’s father was different. He wanted to change his people’s ways, but he was too late. So, he did the only thing he could…He wanted to save his only child…So, he sent Clark here…To a world that his father had also come to care about. He wanted to save our world, too.”
“Wait…What do you mean he cared about our world? He was on the other side of the galaxy. How-,”
“Lana, I need to tell you a story. Come…Let’s sit down. This may take a while.” Joseph led her over to a chair in the corner of his office. He then wheeled his desk chair and sat down to face her. Joseph began his story.
“About 40 years ago, 1963 I think, I had come to Smallville trying to find the caves. I had been researching the legend of Naman for a while now, and I had gathered quite a bit of information on his travel here, but I was also missing parts. My people passed the story of Naman down from generation to generation, but with every generation that goes by, we lose a little bit of the story. So, over 500 years you can imagine how much we were missing. We still had the basics…You know, about what Naman could do and that he fell in love with a woman from the tribe, but we had lost the details. I was hoping that by finding the caves, I could bring back the truth. Anyway, that summer…around May, I think, a young woman came to me telling me she had been having strange dreams about a Kawatche girl named Leotie.”
Lana sat up and listened intently when she heard the name. Her heartbeat quickened. Joseph continued. “This woman did not tell anybody about her dreams…not even her husband. She didn’t want people thinking she was crazy. Back then, people were not as tolerant of those who were different and she was afraid. And, as you can guess, my presence on the outskirts of town caused quite a stir. She had heard that I was nearby and thought I might be able to help her with these dreams since I was also Kawatche. I met with her a few times and she told me about her dreams. They were exactly as you had described yours. The description of how Naman came here, about Leotie and their affair are the same as yours. I was amazed when I spoke to her. She had an exact recount of the events from 500 years ago. I listened as she told me about the fire in the sky and how Leotie came upon Naman in the crater. She also told me about their secret affair and about the incident with the snake.”
Lana nodded with affirmation. “So, you know how she was saved then?” she asked.
“Yes. She recounted the event where Leotie nearly died. Naman had taken a shard from his vessel and used it to pierce his normally impenetrable skin. This shard would later become our Starblade. Naman saved her by mixing their blood, which in turn bound their souls to one another. Since this woman was having dreams about the past, I concluded that this woman had Leotie’s spirit in her. I took her dreams as a sign that Naman was soon to come back. Leotie’s spirit was preparing this woman for his arrival. When Naman returned, his spirit would naturally seek her out, trying to find the one he is bound to.”
“But if Clark is Naman, why is a woman from 1963 having dreams about him? He didn’t come until nearly 30 years later.”
“The spirit of Naman has returned several times over the centuries, and every time, he found his Leotie, whether she was here in America, or in France during the 1800’s. They found each other every time. The only difference this time with Clark, is that he stayed. But I’m getting off track now. About a month later, she came to me full of excitement. She said that she had seen the man in her dreams on the street that day. He had saved her from a mugger. She couldn’t believe her eyes. He had moved just as fast as Naman in her dreams. He also had his strength. She saw the stranger throw the mugger through the air like he was nothing. The woman could not stop talking about him. I could tell that even though they had met only for a few moments, she was in love with him. Even though she was married, she couldn’t help it. It was fate. I knew it was Naman. He had returned, and he found her. Our people had been waiting so long for him to come back…to fulfill his destiny.”
“So, if Clark is Naman, what happened to this guy? Who is this woman? Can I talk to her?”
“Unfortunately, no. But you know who she is.”
“I do?”
Joseph got up and shuffled through some papers on his desk. He came back with an old, yellowed newspaper clipping and handed it to her. “A few days later, I read in the paper that the woman had been killed and the stranger was to blame.”
Lana looked at the clipping and read the headline ‘Local Beauty Murdered.’ Staring back at her were the faces of her great-aunt and the drifter. She suddenly had a difficult time breathing.
“Uncanny how much you look like her, isn’t it? Must run in the family,” he noted.
After a few moments, Lana found her voice. “The woman you spoke with was Louise? Then the drifter-,”
“Based on his approximate age, I believe him to be Clark’s biological father.”
“What?! Does Clark know about this?” she asked.
“Yes. He came across something in the caves that showed him the events of his father’s visit. He told me about it.”
“So, my great-aunt from 1963 met and fell in love with someone from another planet?”
“Yes.”
“And she didn’t have any ‘issues’ with what he was?” Lana looked down at the floor, a little ashamed.
“Louise was in love. It didn’t matter to her. She knew all she wanted was to be with him. She didn’t see what he was, she only saw who he was…and you can do the same, Lana,” he said softly.
Lana looked up with tears forming in her eyes. “I don’t know if I’ll ever look at him the same again.”
“You won’t,” Joseph said bluntly.
Lana looked at him confused. “Excuse me?”
“You will never look at him the same, because you were only seeing part of him. You will look at him differently now that you can see and know all of him…You need to make a decision, Lana…Can you accept him for who he is?”
Lana just sat there and didn’t say a word.
“It’s o.k. I am not the one you need to answer to…You must listen to your own heart and answer to yourself.”
She nodded and hung her head.
“But know this…Clark is here for a purpose and you are the key for him to fulfill this purpose.”
She looked up. “What do you mean?”
“After Louise died, Clark’s father returned home. It wasn’t yet Naman’s time to fulfill his destiny…But now it is. Our world has changed so much. In 1963 we still had a chance to take a different path, but now…Our planet has taken the path that Clark’s people followed. Technology is taking over…People aren’t thinking of the consequences…The environment is suffering…If things don’t change, we will suffer the same fate they did. Clark is here to help us…to protect us from destroying ourselves.” Joseph got up again and found some photos on his desk.
“Do you recognize these symbols in the cave?” he asked her.
Lana took the pictures from him and looked at them. “Yes, but I don’t know what they mean.”
“Clark does. He can read these symbols, but he has misinterpreted them…that’s why he believes his father is a monster…You see these symbols?” He pointed to them. “It says, ‘The day is coming for the last son to begin his quest.’ Now this symbol here is what Clark read incorrectly. He thought it said to conquer.”
“Conquer? Clark’s not a conqueror. He’s so shy it took him 10 years to even talk to me!”
“Sounds like a human trait, doesn’t it? He’s been raised as a human, so he thinks as a human. He cares about this world, and he doesn’t want to dominate it. In any language words have changed their meanings over time. This symbol may mean ‘conquer’ now, but it didn’t back when it was put on the cave wall…This symbol actually means ‘to protect or lead.’ He’s here as the protector of this world…a great task that you will need to help him take on.”
“Me? What do I have to do with any of this?”
“You are what is holding him back from becoming all he can be. His whole life he was afraid to be his true self…afraid of what people might think…of what you might think…If you can accept him for who he is, the he won’t be afraid anymore. He could rise to his full potential and become what he is meant to become, knowing that the one person he truly loves accepts him.”
Lana sat there and stared in shocked silence. Joseph knew he was starting to get through to her and how important she is for Clark’s destiny.
“Lana, remember when we spoke last time and you told me about when you found Clark in Metropolis? How he seemed like a totally different person until he kissed you?”
Lana nodded.
“You saw him revert to what his people were…a cold, unfeeling race, except for a few. When you kissed, you brought him back to humanity, but just for a moment. I told you that Naman’s feelings hang by a thread. Given certain circumstances, Clark could lose his humanity completely, but there is one person that can keep him with us, and that person is you, Lana. His love for you keeps him human, and if he knows you accept him, he will not lose his humanity, because he knows that he is loved in return.”
Lana got out of her chair and paced a bit. She walked over to the window and stared at the campus. She held her hand to her head. Joseph walked over to her and placed his hand on her shoulder.
“I know this is a lot to take in…Take your time. These things have a way of working out in their own time and place…Just listen to your heart. What does it say about Clark?…You can never make a wrong decision if you follow your heart.”
Lana stepped forward and wrapped her arms around Joseph, giving him a hug. “Thank you, Professor,” she said quietly.
“For what?”
“For speaking with me…for answering my questions.”
“Well, I can think of another person who you should talk to.”
Lana knew who he was talking about.
“Go on…Go talk to him…I’m sure when you see him, you will know what to do.”
Lana nodded and headed towards the door.
“Oh, and Lana?”
She turned around. “Yes?”
“Even if he wasn’t Naman, he’d be a lucky man to have you.”
Lana smiled at him. “Thanks…Ummm…Professor Willowbrook, I still have one question. How did you know it was me earlier in the doorway without turning around?”
“Would you believe me if I told you I ‘felt’ your spirit?” Lana eyed him suspiciously. “O.K…I have a window next to my desk and saw you come in the building.”
Joseph gave her a mischievous smile, which made her giggle. “Good-bye, Professor,” Lana said, shaking her head. She turned around and left.

You know, that's the question that I've always struggled with myself: would true love hold him back, or would it make it possible for him to stay human and our shining example. You've opted for the latter...and I'm glad! :D
It really does make for a more satisfying story. Knowing this, I hope Lana can accept her own role in Superman's destiny. ;)

Chapter 26
Lana left Central Kansas and drove back to Smallville. She went straight to the Kent farm. When she pulled up, she didn’t see any vehicles in the driveway. She got out of her SUV and walked into the barn, thinking he was in the loft.
“Clark?” she called out, but there was no answer. She decided to try the house next.
Lana knocked at the kitchen door and waited for someone to answer, but none came. She tried the door to see if it was locked, and to her luck it wasn’t. One thing about living in a small town out in the country is that you can leave your doors unlocked and not worry. Lana opened the door and walked into the kitchen.
“Hello?...Is anybody here?...Mr. and Mrs. Kent?...Clark?”
The house was empty.
‘I guess I’ll just have to wait,’ she thought to herself. She turned around to head out to the barn to wait for him, but something on the counter caught her eye. She walked over to it and saw it was a note written in Clark’s scratchy handwriting.
Mom, went to practice. Be back later. Don’t hold dinner for me. –C
Lana placed the note back where it was and left the house. She got back in her SUV and headed to the school. It was a few weeks before school started, but the football teams were already starting to practice. Clark had been accepted as an assistant coach for the elementary school under Coach Johnson. Lana drove over to the elementary school, not knowing if he was still there. When she pulled into the parking lot, there were several cars, but there was no mistaking that red truck. He was there. She got out of her car and paced back and forth for a few minutes, trying to think about what to say, but she couldn’t come up with anything. She contemplated getting back in her car and driving off, but she knew she had to speak to him. She took a deep breath and marched over to the field behind the school.
When she got to the football field, there were about twenty kids in little red uniforms on the field with two coaches, and it was obvious which one was Clark. Even though his back was to her, he towered over all of them, even Coach Johnson. The children all looked up at him as if he were a giant. Practice was nearly finished, so Lana sat down on the bleachers next to a little girl with long blonde hair and big brown eyes. Lana thought she looked maybe 9 or 10 years old.
“Hi,” Lana said to her.
“Hi.”
“What’s your name?”
“Katie.”
“Hi, Katie. I’m Lana. Mind if I sit with you?”
“Nope.”
“So…What are you doing here?”
“I’m waiting for my little brother…That’s him over there.” Katie pointed to a little boy on the field talking to Clark. “I told my mom I’d walk him home when he was done. He’s only eight, you know.”
“Well, you sure are a good big sister to do that for your mom,” Lana complemented.
“I don’t mind…I actually came here to see him.”
“Who?” Lana asked.
“Him.” Katie pointed to the field. “The new assistant coach.”
“You mean…Clark Kent?”
“Yeah…He’s sooooo handsome!” Katie said dreamily, with her eyes rolling.
Lana couldn’t hold back a smile.
“Did you know that he won the state championship last year?” Katie bragged.
“Really?” she replied, trying to sound surprised.
“Yeah…He threw the winning touchdown…It was amazing!”
“Yeah…I think I might have heard something about that,” Lana said, humoring her. “So, he’s a real hero then, huh?”
“Yup…And I’m going to marry him someday.”
“You are, are you?”
“Uh-huh…We’ll live in a big house with a pool and horses and five kids.”
“Five?” Lana asked astonished.
“Yes. Three girls and two boys. They are all going to have yellow hair like mine and green eyes like his…And five dogs, so each of them can have one.”
“That’s a lot of dogs. How are you going to take care of all of them?”
“Easy. I’m going to be a veterinarian, so I’ll know how to take care of animals.”
“Well, sounds like you have everything all figured out.”
“Yup. And Clark can stay home with the kids ‘cuz I’m going to have my own practice, so I’ll make plenty of money.”
“Wow. I’m impressed…So, when’s the wedding? Is it soon?”
“No, silly! I’m only ten, but we can’t wait too long. Clark is getting old…Did you know he’s 19? That’s almost 20, which is half-way to 40, which is half-way to 80, which is practically dead.”
Lana struggled to keep from laughing. Listening to this little girl talk about her crush on Clark and what she thinks their future holds was really tickling her.
“So, why are you here, Lana?”
“Actually, I’m here to see the new coach.”
Katie glared at her as if to say, ‘You better not try to steal my man!’
Lana saw the threatening look and put her hands up. “Just to talk, I swear.” Lana took her hand and made a criss-crossed motion over her heart. “Cross my heart.”
“Well…O.K. Just so we’re clear on that…Are you friends or somethin’?”
“Ummm…” Lana looked out to the field at Clark and watched him interact with the children. Then, she turned back to Katie. “I’m not too sure about that.”
“How come?”
“I found out something, and I’m not sure if we can go back to the way things were.” A sadness fell over her face.
“Why?”
“Because things changed.”
“Why?”
“Because they just did.”
“Why?”
“Do you always ask so many questions?” Lana asked her, beginning to get a little annoyed.
“I’m a kid…that’s what I do.”
Lana decided that a ten-year old girl is not the person to discuss this with. She changed the subject and they continued talking. Meanwhile, out on the field, Clark still had no idea that Lana was there in the bleachers watching.
One of the little boys on the team came up to Clark and tugged on the corner of his jacket.
“Hey, Coach?”
“Yeah, Tobey, what’s up?”
“Who’s that girl talking to my sister over there?”
“Who?”
“Her.” Tobey pointed towards the bleachers. Clark turned around and saw Lana sitting in the bleachers with Tobey’s sister. His jaw dropped. He couldn’t believe his eyes. She was here! He turned back around quickly. His heart quickened and his cheeks flushed. He suddenly found it difficult to speak and tried to swallow.
“Th-that’s Lana.”
“Is she you’re girlfriend?” Tobey asked.
Clark looked back at her again and sighed. “I’m working on it.” Clark looked down at his watch and saw it was time to end practice. “O.K., guys! That’s it. Let’s call it a day. Head back to the locker room and get ready to go home…Good practice, everyone!”
Clark and the other coach herded the chattering children off the field back towards the school. Clark slowed as they neared the bleachers. He couldn’t take his eyes off of her. Tobey came up beside him taking off his helmet and gasped.
“Wow! She’s really pretty!” he exclaimed.
“Yes, she is,” Clark said proudly. He looked down at the little boy, whose jaw and eyes were wide open staring at Lana. “Hey, put those eyes back in your head…Girls don’t like it when you stare at them.” Tobey snapped back to reality and craned his neck to look up at Clark, who went back to gazing at Lana.
“Then how come you’re doing it?”
Clark blinked and chuckled when he heard that. “Good point. Come on. Let’s go see your sister so you can head home.” He placed his hand on Tobey’s shoulder and led him to the end of the bleachers where the two girls were sitting. Katie saw them coming over.
“Ohmygod, ohmygod, ohmygod!” she screamed under her breath. “He’s coming over here!” Lana smiled at the little girl who was so nervous.
Clark and Tobey stopped in front of the girls.
“Hey, Katie.”
“Hi, Coach Kent,” she replied blushing.
“And how are you today?” he asked.
“Good,” she said, nervously playing with her hair.
“So…How do you think practice went today?”
“I thought it was purrrrrfect.” Katie began to stare at Clark, but he didn’t notice since he was too occupied with looking at Lana.
Tobey, the eight-year old boy that he was, was getting anxious to go home and was grossing out from his sister fawning over his coach. He pulled Katie off the bleachers by her hand.
“Come on, Katie. Let’s go home. Bye, Coach!”
“Bye, Tobey. See you next week…Bye, Katie.”
Katie opened her mouth to respond, but nothing came out. Tobey dragged Katie off the field by her arm. “Oh!...Bye, pretty lady!” Tobey called back to Lana.
“Bye, Tobey!” she said and giggled. “Bye, Katie! It was nice talking to you!”
After the kids were out of earshot, Clark turned back to Lana.
“Hi.”
“Hi,” she replied, her smile disappearing.
Clark saw her expression and knew this was it. It was time. No more secrets…No more lies.

O.K. I know that last line was from the show, but it seems to fit.

Here I thought people were giving me a hard time for writing a cliffhanger.
Mine was small compared to the one you left us hanging off of.
Please update soon. We must have a Clanalicious resolution to this situation.

Deja vu with little Katie there... :) Cute.
Dang, I hope that Lana keeps her senses about her (or whatever the expression would be). She needs to hear Clark out and explain her own actions.

Oh, my gosh! It was a last minute change. I wasn't even thinking that she has similar looks as Alicia. I actually gave Katie my own features. Yup, I'm a blondie with brown eyes.
Now that I'm re-reading it, she does seem like a mini version of Alicia.
I don't know what I was thinking!

:D I just loved Katie! :D
That what Lana always needed - to map out a plan for the future... ;)
So what is our young hero to do? Is he going to follow in the steps of our hapless "Smallville" hero, and lie? Or is he going to tell the truth to the girl of his dreams? And maybe even win her heart? ;)

I'm still here! I've just been really busy with work, so the fic has been delayed. I've got a few pages typed, a couple handwritten and the rest mulling around in my head, so by the looks of it, I think the next chapter will be pretty long, too. I just don't know when I'll be able to update. Sorry! Thanks for hanging in there with me, though.

Hey, everyone! Hope you all had a great long weekend.
Bet you thought this was an update. Sorry. Believe it or not, I am writing. This weekend I just sat outside in the sun with my iPod, sipped on Kool-Aid and wrote. I have about 5 or 6 pages already (and that's just first draft!), so the next update is going to be a long one. I'm hoping to get it up by the end of the week, if nothing unforseen happens at work by then.
Thanks for being so patient and supportive.
Talk to you later.
