Chapter 17:

Lana had awoken in her apartment that morning, for she had been released from the hospital the previous night. Lana couldn’t remember what had happened that well. She remembered she came home from work, and went to change. When she got back, her kitchen was on fire! Investigators were in and out all day trying to solve the mystery. Lana was sick of it though, she was sick of it all. She remembered grabbing the phone and running to the door. But right when she got there, something had happened. She couldn’t remember but she ran for shelter in the bathroom to call 911. But when she made the call, she slipped and hit her head, knocking her out.

She remembered something else though. Very vaguely but she remembered it. She awoke hundreds of feet in the air. A man had been holding her, bringing her out of the burning building and down to safety. She didn’t know who it was, but she recognized him. She felt safe and warm with him, but he was a stranger. Nothing made sense to her anymore. He said he was a friend. And she hoped so.
Lana sat down on her bed staring at the wall, thinking. Sometimes she wished she could just wipe the slate clean and rewind...to three years ago. She tried hard not to let the tears fall, but it was becoming harder and harder these days. She picked up a picture frame from her bedside table. It was a picture of her and Clark, the day he was released from the hospital. Those weeks, those three short weeks, were the best in her entire life. And she wanted nothing more than to get a chance at many more weeks like that one. Tears rolled down her cheeks again, but it was normal for her now and she was used to it.

The doorbell rang and Lana wiped the tears with a tissue before approaching it. She swung it open to come face to face with a nightmare. Suddenly, a white cloth came towards her.

Clark awoke on his back staring at the ceiling to a phone ringing in his ear. He slowly sat up, rubed his eyes and picked it up.

“Hello?” he yawned.

“Warehouse. Now.” said a voice. Clark was alert now.

“Why?” he asked sharply.

“Or else she dies.” The line went dead and Clark was up. He quickly puts his suit on and jumps out the window.

“Why are you doing this?” Lana asked sharply. Lionel Luthor paced around the room.

“You want the short version?” he laughed. “You don’t think that fire was an accident did you?” he asked.”If I told you, you wouldn’t believe me.”

“What are you talking about?”

“You’ll see when the time comes. Someone is on their way to see you.” Lana struggled in the chair she was tied to.

“Who?” she asked fiercely, but Lionel just laughed. Slowly Lana waited for this someone to come. Maybe a friend maybe an enemy. She sincerely hoped it was a friend, her friend. After minutes of waiting, the door burst off of its hinges and a man entered the room grabbing Lionel’s throat.

“If you even touch her...” he began. Be Lionel just smiled. Clark let go.

“Hello” Lionel began as Clark turned to face Lana. Lanas mouth hung open. “...Clark.”

A/N: Sorry its so short but this year in school is sooo tough! I have mych hw, but you can expect 1, 2 of this sized posts a week and 1 long on each saturday or sunday. Hope you enjoyed it :-D

Chapter 18:

Clark stood there, his hands shaking, looking into her eyes wondering what to say. The silence was deafening. Lionel just stared back and forth between the two, pleased with himself that he had accomplished such a feat. Clark didn’t blink. He left her eyes locked into hers for as long as he could. Only one thing was going through his mind; Lana. But her mind was buzzing with thoughts. How could Clark be Superman? Was it possible? Did this have to do something with what Jason had said? It seemed like so long ago. Lionel finally broke the silence.

“I’m sure you two have a lot of catching up to do, so I’ll just be on my way” he patted Clark on the back and walked slowly out of the room grinning a grin so wide it would give the latest lottery winner a run for his money. Clark and Lana didn’t pay any attention to Lionel, there eyes were locked. Lana had noticed that Clark hadn’t blinked at all.

“Well this isn’t going to do any good while I’m tied to a chair” Lana said, trying to lighten the mood. Clark nodded thinking ‘Right. I’m so stupid’. He blasted fire onto the ropes causing them to fall to ashes on the floor. Lana had heard of the wonders of Superman, but she never thought of Clark as the steel man. She slowly stood up, brushing some of the ashes off of her hands. Clark still hadn’t said a word. Clark swallowed before opening his mouth to speak.

“You broke my heart” he said slowly. Lana walked a step closer to him, on the verge of tears. Clark hadn’t broken eye contact yet. Lana looked to the floor.

“I- I know. I was just- scared. Confused. You can’t blame me for that, Clark. What Jason said, it...it was true?” It was Clarks turn to look away.

“Yea.” he breathed. “I don’t blame you, Lana. I- I just. I don’t think I can ever take the risk of someone hurting me that badly again. The past three years have been the worst of my life. I know they’ve been that way for you too. I’ve seen the tears, Lana.” he turned to face her. “We can’t do this to ourselves anymore.” Lana nodded, tears slowly falling from her eyes.

“I know.” she said. She looked away again. “But I don’t think I can take life without you.” she said. Clark extended his arms and Lana came to hug him, crying into his shoulder. Clark didn’t say anything, knowing she needed a good cry. And she had one. She stayed like that for so long, eventually she fell asleep still holding onto him. Clark didn’t want to wake her so he slowly hovered into the air, flying out of the warehouse and into the night.

Clark flew over the city with Lana sound asleep in his arms. When he approached her apartment building, he flew through the open window that lead into her living room. He slowly touched the ground and walked into her room, and slowly placed her on the bed. The radio was playing slowly from her bedside table.

Clark took one last look at her before walking out of the room. The rain began to pour, Clark found something to put over his suit and he walked out into the night. He decided to take the long way home tonight.

Clark entered his apartment, soaking wet, but he was dry in a matter of seconds, but also very dizzy. Jason stood up from the chair he had been sitting in.

“Jason” Clark said. “You scared me. What are you doing here?”


“I told you not to call me Jason.” he said. “And I was waiting for you, master.” Clark shook his head.

“You need an earth name. And I’m not your master.” he said, sitting down with two sodas in his hand. He handed one to Jason who took it gladly.

“The plan is working, Kal-El. Oliver has done his job, and Lex and Lionel are sure to fall into the trap.” Clark smiled. This was good news.

“And Hans?” he asked. Jason nodded.

“He will be meeting with the Luthors tonight.” Clark was satisfied. So was Jason.

“Once they are down, we can fulfill your destiny.” Clark nearly spat out his soda.

“What? I’d already done that. I became the man my father wanted.” Jason shook his head.

“Being Superman was not your destiny, Kal-El.” Jason began. “Jor-El has much bigger plans for you.” Clark knew Jason was serious. He’d just need to find away to avoid it. Clark stood up.

“I’ve had a long day.” he said. “I need to get some sleep.” Jason smiled.

“Yes, of course. I’ll be on my way. I’ll see you at the office tomorrow, bright and early.” he said nodding and turning to leave. Clark walked to the safe and pulled out a crystal element. Jason walked towards him, reached his hand out to touch it, and was sent on his journey back to his sanctuary.

Once Jason was gone, Clark sat back down on the couch, his head in his hands, wondering why his life had to be so complicated. He eventually turned off the Tv, and turned in for the night, dreams of Lana filling his head as slumber overtook him.

Clark walked casually into Oliver Jones office on the top floor. Oliver was looking out the window. “Hey Oliver!” Clark said smiling. Oliver turned around.

“Hey, Clark! Glad you could make it.” Oliver said, extending his hand for Clark to shake. “Jason should be here any minute.” Clark sat down in one of the black leather chairs in front of him, and Oliver in the other.

“So, how’s it going?” Clark asked. Oliver looked around before answering.

“Perfect” Oliver began. “The Luthors are both meets Hans tonight at the Fluer du Court. Their reservation is for eight. I’m guessing they’ll discuss minor business plans before moving to the mansion for the big stuff. That’s when you’ll come in.” Oliver continued to explain the plan to Clark again and finished just before Jason entered the room.

Clark and Oliver stood up, shaking Jason’s hand. Jason did a half bow to Clark witch seemed rather peculiar to Oliver, but he shook it off. The three gentlemen sat down and began to discuss business plans with each other. After what seemed like a long conversation, Clark brought up a point he had been avoiding.

“Oliver, the plan is great but...” he began grabbing Oliver’s attention. “There is one more thing we need to add.” Oliver and Jason were both very curious by now.

“Who?” they both asked. Clark hesitated before answering.

“Lana Lang”

A/N: OK so it isn't super long but it is 4 pages in word, thats all I had time for tonight. Now there is going to be a lot of plot and action in the next few posts I'm guessing. Then the plot will calm down and there will be a lot of Clana ness.

I promise an update saturday ive been sooo busy, i'm sick first of all, second school is mad hard this year, third marching band takes up most of my time, third I have a mband game tonight a parade tomorrow and getting my dog (6 hour drive away) on sunday. I am like a zombie. But i WILL update saturday after the parade :D

i got kinda sick today so heres the first part:

Chapter 19:

It took a while for Clark to convince the two of them that allowing Lana to take part in the master plan. But Clark knew it was for the best. And, none of them were about to disagree with him. Oliver and Jason somehow found a way to accept it and they tweaked their plan so that Lana could be a part of it. Clark stood up on his way out of Oliver’s office and he and Jason were on their way. Clark had brought the element with him so Jason wouldn’t question him on the way home. He was safely in the fortress.

Hands in his pocket, Clark walked home the long way so that he’d have some time alone to think. His strides became shorter after a while and soon darkness fell. He ran through the plan in his head about fifteen times before he finally reached his apartment. He did wonder weather Lana could handle the task he was going to give to her, but he had doubted her before and look where it put him now.

In no time he was in front of his apartment building. An old woman walked out of the door carrying a poodle. Clark held the door for her. “Oh thank you dear” she said pinching his cheeks. “What a nice young man you are.” Clark just smiled and continued inside. The lady was outside still wondering why his cheeks never moved and her hand felt like it had squeezed a block of steel. “I’m not as young as I used to be” she said to herself and continued on. He took the stairs up to his apartment and opened the door.

Clark put his jacket on the side table and flicked on the light switch. Grabbing a soda from the fridge, he sat on the couch and turned off the TV. He needed quiet and room to think. HE leaned back on the couch with his hands on his face. He was stressed out. He didn’t know where life was going from there. He just had to take it day by day. Clark opened his eyes and looked to his left.

He almost jumped up, he was so surprised. Sitting, sound asleep, in the chair next to him, was Lana. Clark stood up and looked around, unsure of what to do, luckily Shelby did it for him. The nine year old dog had attempted to jump over a bag Clark had on the floor but only succeeded in causing a huge racket and awaking the sleeping princess.

Lana awoke with a start and jumped out of the chair, surprised that she had fallen asleep. When she saw Clark she felt the heat of embarrassment wash over her.

“God, I’m so sorry, I must’ve fallen asleep.” she said. Clark smiled.

“It’s ok, I was just surprised that you were here.” he said not moving. Lana looked up at him.

“Yea” she began. “We left it at a kind of awkward position last time so..” she began. Clark nodded. “We need to talk” she finished.

Part 2:

Clark sat down and offered her a soda. She shook her head ‘no’ and sat down as well.

“Clark” she began. “I think I deserve an explanation” she said looking hopefully up to him. Clark was deep in thought. Clark finally looked up at Lana.

“I think you do, too.” he said. Lana sighed in relief. “But we can’t talk here.” he said. Getting up and moving towards Lana, scooping Lana up in his arms. Lana would not expect anything like this.

“Clark what are you doing?” she asked, alarmed but not minding. Clark just smiled, and they were off.

Oliver Jones sat in his office thinking about the clients he had just spoken with. His chair was positioned to face the city and a warm coffee was in his hand. He took a sip slowly and laid it down on his desk. The button on his phone began to blink signaling a call. He pressed the button.

“Mr. Jones, you have a call, line one” a female voice said.

“Thank you, Debra.” Oliver said, pressing another blinking button and picking up the receiver. A voice whispered quietly in the background.

“Is it set?” it asked. Oliver smirked.

“Yes. They ate it all up. And I’m guessing you did your part.” he asked.

“Yes, you idiot. It’s done.” the voice raised a bit.

“We’ll see who’s the idiot.” Oliver said. “Goodbye” he made to hang up the phone.

“Wait!” the voice said but it was too late. The line went dead.

Lana looked around and couldn’t believe her eyes. She was standing in a barn. The Kent’s barn to be exact. She looked to Clark with disbelief. Clark couldn’t tell weather she was surprised, scared, or both.

“Clark, how did we...?” she began but Clark turned around.

“Follow me” he said as he began to climb the stairs to the loft. Lana eagerly followed, hoping for an explanation. “Lana, I have certain .. Abilities that no other person on this earth has.” he begun. Lana sat down. “Good choice” he said with a nervous laugh. Lana slowly nodded, still in utter shock.

“Y-you can teleport?” she asked. Clark was taken aback.

“What?” he asked in surprise. “No! I can just move really” he sped behind her. “Really...” he appeared in front of her with a glass of water. “Fast.” Lana took the water with a quick word of thanks. She could hardly speak. After she had finished the water she turned to him. A smile peeled across her face.

“So tell me, Mr. Kent” she began. “What else is there for me to know?”

A/N: Ok there is the edn. I had big tests this week. But I'm all free this week. Here is the schedual:

Chapter 20:

“I’ve only scratched the surface!” Clark said standing up. He had never been so happy. Lana didn’t think he was a freak...yet. Lana blinked and she was standing outside.

“I’ll never get used to that.” she said with a smile. Clark smiled and put his hand under the truck. With one brisk motion, he threw the car one hundred feet into the air, then sped to the other end of the field and caught it. Lana’s mouth hung open. Clark sped to her.

“That explains a lot” she finally said. After Clark demonstrated his abilities it was clear Lana’s favorite was his speed. She kept talking about it. After they laughed for a while, Lana turned serious.

“Clark, what Jason said at the warehouse had a lot to do with this, doesn’t it?” Clark nodded.

“This is what I was afraid to tell you.” he said standing up. “I’m..” he began. “I’m not from around this area.” he finally said. “Or this planet” he finished. Lanas eyed widened in shock.

“Hold up!” she said. “You mean to tell me you’re an..an alien?” Clark slowly nodded. “That’s what Jason meant by..Kryp-ton-ian.” she struggled with the word. Clark nodded again. Lana looked up. “You didn’t have to be afraid to tell me that Clark. You’ll always be human to me.” Clark smiled.

“There’s more.” he said. Lana looked into his eyes with concern. “I..” he began. “I came in the meteor shower. It was..I caused the meteor shower.” Lana looked at the ground.

“Clark.” she said with concern. “You don’t ever have to blame yourself for that. I’m sure you wouldn’t have if you knew what would have happened.” Clark looked up.

“I wish that every day.” he said.

“Clark, I’m not upset. Because what I got out of the meteor shower can’t but substituted.” She took a step towards Clark. “You.” She took another small step forward, taking his hand is hers. Clarks mind was running wild with thoughts. Is her face getting closer? Is she holding my hand? How did this happen? But he shook it off, thinking of only one thing. She brushed the hair out of his eyes, just before she kissed him.

She pulled back resting her forehead on his chest. She looked up smiling. “So tell me. How did Pete and Chloe know?” Clark smiled just before kissing her again.

It was eight o’clock at night and everyone knew what they had to do. Clark and Lana were to have dinner at a table right next to the Luthors. A wireless radio was programed in their ears so they could talk freely to Chloe in the control room. The menus in front of them read “Fleur Du Court” and They had perfect view of the table. Lex and Lionel were sitting down talking. After a few minutes, a very large man entered the restaurant and sat at their table. “That’s him” Lana and Clark heard through their ear radios. “He’s the one who killed my father.” Chloe could see the table through the mini camera she scored for Clark to wear.

Lex began to talk just as the waitress came over. “Are you all ready to order?” she asked. Clark nodded. “Well let me tell you about or dinner specials today.” she said. Clark couldn’t hear what Lex was saying.
“I’ll have the first thing on the menu.” He nodded.

The waitress looked confused. “And you, ma’am she asked Lana.”

“Same” Clark practically shooed her away. They could hear Lionel talking now.

“I’m telling you. Sullivan was the first domino. Once All of Kent’s loved ones are gone, so will he. Then we can start our quest to conquer.” Lionel spoke the line he had memorized from the script Oliver had given him. He was one step ahead of Kent like always. Clark was disgusted at the comment. Hans began to speak is a heavy German accent.

“Ze vas very easy to kill. All I did vas choke ‘im.” Han said laughing and sipping champagne. Lana though she could hear Chloe snuffle in the radio.

“Don’t worry, Chlo” she said. “We’ll get him.” A few minutes later the waitress came back with two plates. She put two full sized lobsters in front of them. Clark and Lana were in shock. The waitress left quickly to avoid an awkward situation. Clark loved lobster, but he could eat a leg and be full. Still listening, they began to eat. The Luthors and Hans sat for an hours eating and swapping stories like old college room mates. The food was delicious and Lana and Clark were stuffed.

“We could have shared that and still had half left to eat.” Lana said smiling. Clark knew she was right. The waitress come over and handed Clark the check. Clark nodded thanks and opened it up. His eyes widened in shock.

“152 dollars!” he shouted. Lana’s eyes widened as well. “Oliver only gave me one hundred. Lana dug into her purse.

“I have a twenty” she said. Clark put his hands in his pocket.

“Same. We need 12 dollars.” he said. Lana and Clark could hear Chloe laughing.

“Not funny, Chlo!” Lana said. Chloe kept giggling.

“I come to the rescue again. Clark, check your shirt pocket.” she said. Clark reached into it and pulled out a twenty. He began to blush.

“Thanks” he said and out the money on the table. “Not much of a tip though” he said.

“Look” Lana said, pointing to the Luthors, who had left the table and were heading for the door, Hans close behind them. They waited a few minutes and got up, rounding the curb and sneaking into a black van parked behind the restaurant. Inside, Chloe sat on a LuvSac with a dozen monitors in front of her showing Clarks camera, and various rooms of the Luthor mansion. Clark had to hand it to her, she knew how to roll. Clark climbed into the drivers seat and buckled up.

“I’ve been on the radio with Oliver the whole time. He’s waiting in Lex’s study. He says everything is ready. Are you?” she added with a smile.

“Let’s do this.” he said with a smile and stepped on the gas. They were headed into trouble. Or so Oliver thought.

A/N: I reached my promise of twenty chapters. I hope you enjoyed. the next time I post will be the finale. I really had fun with this fic and I want to thank you all for reading. Stay tuned for the supsized finale/It'll be cool. :P

Chapter 21:
FINALE

Lex was patiently waiting in his study. Everything was going according to plan. His father and Hans were playing pool casually, discussing the murder of Mr. Sullivan. They knew the room was bugged as Lex smiled at the fact that his star reporter could hear the details of her fathers death. Clouds were slowly crossing the moon, hiding the stars that had come out hours before. As Lex poured himself a glass of scotch, a van pulled silently up to the mansion.

All three of them had heard the conversation. Chloe just sat silently. After what seemed like minutes, she finally spoke up.

“This isn’t pity hour” she said nearly in tears. “We have work to do.” Suddenly Clarks cell phone rang.

“Hello?” he asked.

“Clark, it’s Oliver. Are you ready?”

“Yea.” he answered.

“Good. I have faith in you. Good Luck.” Clark nodded.

“Thanks” Once Clark hung up, he pulled the ski mask over his head, Lana doing the same. Chloe couldn’t help smiling at how awesome they looked.

“Let’s go.” he said to Lana, opening the van and attacking a microphone to his shirt. Chloe put on her head set.

“We’ll be in communication the whole time.” she said, the message going into Clark and Lanas ear pieces. They nodded, walking slowly towards the house. Chloe slid the van door shut looking at the monitors in front of her. She saw Lex drinking. The camera didn’t cover the entire room, but she could here Hans and Lionel playing pool.

Clark and Lana slowly opened the front door and walked in, knowing Chloe had disabled the security system. They crept slowly down the hall, stopping in front of the kitchen.

“It’s a servant.” Chloe said through their ear pieces. “Her back is turned. Go now!” Clark and Lana quietly but quickly crept past, entering the next room. The servant turned around smiling and reached into her pocket.

“Mr. Luthor, they’ve just went past.” Lex nodded smiling. He hit a button on his desk as a ringing was sent to Chloes ear peice. She took it off confused.

“Clark? Lana?” she asked. But no response. It was dead.

Lex than pulled out a gun pointing it at the camera in the book shelf.

“Nice Try, Chloe” he said, shooting the camera, it going black.

“Clark!” Chloe desperately shouted into her ear peice. But it was no use. She slid the van door open running for the house. At that exact moment, Clark and Lana busted through the door, holding guns up. But Lex was prepared, he pulled his gun up, firing a bullet straight at Lana. Lanas face twisted into agony as the bullet sped towards her. Clark casually reached his hand out, catching the bullet and opening his hand, the bullet falling to the ground. Both Clark and Lana removed their masks.

“Well, Clark. I knew you were special, but this isn’t what I had in mind.” Lex said smiling. Hans just looked up and continued to play pool. Clark took a step towards Lex.

“Lex! Over the past few weeks we’ve gathered evidence for dozens of crimes you have committed. But there is only one we need a confession of. The rest are on the way to the police right now.” Lana knew Clarks signal, running past Lex and speeding to the window, pulling Oliver Jones up from under the desk. Clark pointed the gun on his, Olivers hands flying up. Lex’s face twisted into confusion. When Lex turned around, Clark sped the gun out of his hand, holding one gun on Oliver and the other on Lex. “Get in the corner!” he shouted, pushing the four of them into the corner of the room.

“Clark...” Oliver began. “How did you..” Clark cocked his gun.

“Don’t start with me, Oliver! You’ve been with them this whole time. You are trying to bring me down as well!” Oliver was shocked. Lana smiled.

“It wasn’t hard, Ollie” she said. “ When we talked to you on the phone earlier, we could hear a pool shot. We guessed you weren’t at a bar. Plus Chloe knows Lionel doesn’t play pool. You can kiss our asses just like the Luthors.” she smiled. Clark was proud of her.

“Why did you do it, Lionel. Why did you kill Mr. Sullivan?” Lionel was furious.

“It wasn’t supposed to be like this! You were supposed to go down with him! I thought if we murdered him, you’d soon fall!” Lionel chin was trembling in rage. Lana pulled a tape recorder from behind her back.

“Thank you!” he said smiling. It was Olivers turn to smile.

“What you don’t know is that the police never got the evidence. I burned it.” Olivers grin was very cocky.

“Think again” Clark said, four policemen busting through the door. The police were followed by a smiling Chloe. Clark and Lana smiled back, as the policemen cuffed the four fugitives. Clark waved as Lex was pushed out of the door. Lex just spat at his feet. Clark smiled, reaching down and holding Lanas hand. Lana smiled back up at him. Chloe walked up beside them.

“I forgot to ask you, how much was that tip anyway?” Clark just smiled as they went into a group hug. “Look, I’m going to take the van back. I owe my computer guy a lot of letting me rent his equipment. I’ll see you two later.” Chloe turned to leave. “Clark your car is in the drive way.”

“Keys?” Clark asked.

“Check your pocket” Chloe said before exiting the room. Lana gripped Clarks hand even more as they walked to the car.

“Why are you smiling?” Clark asked, guilty himself.

“We haven’t been like this for a while. And all those times you were lying in a hospital bed.” she said smiling.

Clark stopped walking and looked at the empty parking spot.

“Clark, where’s the car?” Lana asked. Clark bent down in the middle of the parking lot and picked up a post-it note. After reading he smiled. “What?” Lana asked, eager to read it as well.

I think you two can find a better method of transportation

She smiled. “What does she mean, Clark?” Clark smiled and scooped her up into his arms.

“Hang on” he said, before launching into the air. Lana squealed.

“Oh my god, Clark!” she said. “This is amazing!” she looked down at the small town, hundreds of feet below. Clark just smiled and glided through the air, passing Smallville and heading to his destination. After a few minutes, they landed in a small clearing, just outside the town. Lana recognized this place immediately. It was the place Clark had taken her the day he was released from the hospital.

“I love you, Lana. And I would give anything to be with you forever.” Clark said, his tone now more serious. Clark took her hands in his. “You complete me, Lana. With out you I feel I wouldn’t be able to cling to life. I would have no matter of being. You are my soul, Lana.” Lana could feel hot tears forming in her eyes. With a lingering stare, Clark got down on one knee, pulling a blue and gold box from his pocket that he had kept under his bed since they were together last.

Opening the box, Lana was able to see a shining diamond ring inside. She was crying now. Clark smiled.

“Lana Lang, will you marry me?” he asked. Lana just cried and nodded vigorously, jumping into his arms. Once she calmed down and put the ring on, she looked into his eyes.

“Yes, Clark Kent. I would be delighted to be your wife.” and with that, soon to be Mr. And Mrs. Kent soared into the sky, to travel where ever their hearts would take them, or at least to the Kent Farm.
