Welcome here too superman_lives_on.
Dr. J, you realy want one here too? Before Sunday? I don't think that's going to happen. I am so eager to write my next HIDDEN update, with all the CLANA. This one scares me. I need to think on it. I'll see what i can do, just because I know you're leaving, Dr. J. , back to the military. Oh, happy Veterans Day, Dr. J. (Well that's what it is in the U.S., Nov 11) Thanks for serving your country. :)

Be safe Dr. J and come back to us here in Clanaland! :)

 Not really! Don't you remember I'm still trying to recover from Hurricane Katrina (still have a blue tarp on the roof), homeschooling, taking care of elderly in-laws, chauferring teens around, participating in my church choir, etc., etc? It's a wonder I make time to update at all! - Y'all are lucky that writing these fics has become my hobby of choice for stress relief! :D

Well, I for one would be thrilled to see an update in this thread over the weekend, if it's possible. It's pretty obvious that the Clana changes will affect the whole course of the show, not just this alternate Season Four--and that could be a daunting task.
But I think I speak for everyone when I say that if there's any author who can pull this off, it's you. Hope your life eases up a little, and looking forward to your next update whenever it comes--I have faith in you, SVsleuth. And I'm sure we all do.

Alternate CLANA: SPELL - Part 1
Jason is in his office at Smallville High. He is on his laptop, reading something. He seems quite intrigued. He is startled by a knock on his door. He calls, “Come in.” The door opens and Clark and Lana enter. Lana notices that Jason quickly closes his laptop as they enter.
Clark: Coach Teague. Hey, I had to come and thank you. I got offered a schloarship to Met U. One of the scouts you called saw me in the game.
Jason: That’s great, Clark. Congratulations! And Met U is not the only school interested in you. I got a call from a scout from Princeton just a little while ago. They want to send someone out to meet you.
Clark: Princeton! Oh, wow, I never expected that!
Lana: That’s terrific, Clark!
While Jason and Clark continue to talk, Lana moves further into the room, wondering why Jason was so quick to close his laptop as they entered. She glances at his desk and sees a notebook, in which he had been taking notes. She is surprised at the topic he is evidently researching.
Lana: Clark, you guys going to talk football all day? Come on, let’s go. We’re going to be late for class.
Clark looks at his watch.
Clark: Oh! Yeah, you’re right. See you later, Coach. And thanks again.
Clark and Lana walk hurriedly down the hall to their classes.
Lana: Clark, I need to talk to you about something, but there’s no time now. At lunch, okay?
Clark: Sure, Lana. Is everything okay?
The bell rings.
Lana: (dashing toward her classroom) I’m not sure.
Clark enters his classroom quickly, slipping into a back seat. I wonder what’s bothering Lana all of a sudden? I guess I have to wait until lunch to find out.
-----
When the lunch bell rings Clark is quick to meet Lana at their usual spot. He gives her a kiss as they head toward the lunch room, as usual.
Clark: Lana, what is it you wanted to talk to me about? I’ve been in suspense all morning.
Lana: Well, shall we eat first & then talk or talk first and then eat? I don’t want to discuss it in a crowd.
Clark: I never thought I’d ever say this, but forget eating. I want to know what’s worrying you.
Lana: Okay, then lets find a place to talk.
They go outside and take a walk across the football field as they talk.
Clark: Okay, no one’s around. What gives?
Lana: Clark, I saw some notes on Jason’s desk this morning. He seems to be investigating the Countess Theroux.
Clark stops walking and turns to Lana.
Clark: Are you sure? Why would he be doing that?
Lana: I don’t know, Clark. But, you know, Jason is the one who pointed out the tomb to me in the first place. And remember that day when I was coming to your place to show you those books on ancient writings? (Clark nods) Well, Jason saw the books, and noticed that the symbol on the cover was the same one as on Isobel’s tomb. I made light of it and left quickly. But maybe he’s curious to know why I had those books.
Clark: Or maybe he’s known more than we think all along. In any case, it’ not good that he is investigating this. We should be cautious.
Lana: Yeah. (they start walking again) Clark, do you think we’ll ever find out what all of this is about? I mean the tattoo, the symbols, Isobel, the bracelets, and all of that? Sometimes I can’t sleep at night; it’s like something inside of me is urging me to keep searching for something, but I don’t know what it is. It scares me, Clark.
Clark: Don’t worry. We’ll figure it all out eventually. (He pulls her into a hug and kisses her on top of her head.)
Lana: Yeah. I guess you’re right.
They walk in silence back to the school, reaching it just in time for their afternoon classes. After school, Clark meets Lana at her locker.
Clark: Lana, I am starved. Skipping lunch is not fun. Let’s go grab a burger together. I have to be back at five for football practice.
Lana: That’s sounds great. My stomach has been rumbling all afternoon.
-----
After eating, Clark drops Lana off at the Talon and heads off to football practice. Lana works on her homework for a while, but keeps feeling an urge to try to figure out more about Isobel. She sets her homework aside, opens her laptop, and soon is searching for more information about the Countess. She is excited when she finds an unusual item for sale on Ebay: the Spell book of Countess Marguerite Isobel Theroux. I must have it. She is compelled to buy it, maxing out her credit card to get it. She has never made such a reckless purchase in her life, but something inside of her seemed to urge her on insistently. She is anxious to get it, and has it shipped overnight. I can’t wait to see the book. Maybe it will have the answers I seek.
-----
The next evening, Lana and Clark are seated on the floor in her apartment, in front of the fireplace. Lana is holding a mailed package that she puts down on the floor in front of them.
Clark: So you found it on Ebay?
Lana: Yeah, this old guy in Nice was auctioning it off. I had to max out my entire credit card to get it, but I couldn't resist. It was like it was calling to me.
Clark: That’s crazy, Lana!
Lana opens the box excitedly and pulls the bubble wrap out of the way, revealing Isobel's spell book. The book is clearly very old and worn around the edges. Lana takes it out of the box and shows it to Clark.
Lana: The spell book of Countess Isobel Marguerite Theroux.
Clark points to the engravings on the leather cover of the book.
Clark: Those look like more Kryptonian symbols.
Lana: Yeah. Maybe it will help explain what happened in Paris when I touched Isobel's tomb.
Clark: Yeah, and the tattoo and the missing 12 hours.
Lana opens the book and looks through it slowly.
Lana: Hmm. So, uh, how's your Latin?
Clark: About as good as my Italian which... I don't speak.
Lana looks at Clark then back at the book. She turns another page and comes to the page with Isobel's blood spattered on the symbol. The fire in the fireplace goes out, significantly darkening the room. Clark looks at the fire curiously.
Clark: I'll get it.
He gets up to add more wood to the fire as Lana stares at the page.
Lana: Oh! Clark, look at this.
Clark: What?
Lana: This is the symbol from Isobel's tomb - the one on my back. It’s splattered with blood.
Clark: That's kind of spooky.
Clark uses his heat vision to try to re-kindle the fire. Lana reaches out to the bloodstained page and touches the symbol. The symbol begins to glow pink, and the tattoo on Lana's back is illuminated with the same color. A surge of energy goes through Lana causing her to roll her head back just as the fireplace roars back to life with a small explosion of flame that throws Clark backwards onto the floor. Wind rushes through the room and Lana's eyes glow the same shade of pink for a moment. Then a serene but dangerous smile forms on her lips. Clark stands up, grunting. The fire in the fireplace is burning normally again.
Clark: You okay?
Lana stands up slowly holding the book in one hand. She looks at Clark strangely without answering, then looks down at her body, lightly touching her stomach as if to make sure she's really there.
Lana: [Eerily calm.] Never been better. She looks him up and down him lustfully. And you have never looked better.
She advances toward Clark seductively, and begins to kiss him sensuously, running her hands up his chest under his shirt. Clark is taken by surprise at Lana’s sudden advance, and gives in for several moments before coming to his senses. He grabs her hands and pulls out of the kiss.
Clark: Lana, what are you doing? This isn’t like you. What about your dream, Lana?
Lana: Don’t you want me, Clark? (She tries to lean toward him again.)
Clark: Lana, what’s gotten into you? You know I do, but we had an agreement, and I intend to keep it.
Lana: (pouting) You’re no fun at all.
Clark stares at Lana warily, seeing that something has changed. Lana smiles.
Clark: Well, I’m gonna go, Lana. You need to cool off. I’ll see you tomorrow.
He kisses her quickly on the top of her head and beats it out the door.
Clark: Woah! If I had stayed there another few moments, I don’t think I could have resisted her any longer. My heart is still beating a mile a minute. I wonder what got her so turned on all of a sudden?

I am trying to work on it. It won't take 4Ever, anyway, & it should be this month, at least. Maybe as soon as this weekend. I did have some inspiration today, but I'm still working things out. Hang in there. Thanks to all of you who have been keeping it on page one. And thanks for being patient with me. ;)

Heh--my shorts are about as twisted as a straight line. :) And I am fully aware that you're giving her a hard time--believe me, I've had plenty of experience with that!
And of course I want an update, but I'm not about to get all Hulked up over its absence--not that you are, either. I do hope Isabelle doesn't give Clark too hard a pounding!

Ok, guys, I have a lot of shopping to do today, so I will try to write tonight, but just might fall asleep instead. I want to jump start this fic even more than you guys want it to continue, so bear with me. I may have to do a few drastic things to get it going, but that may turn out good. See y'all later.

Just like MOO, I've decided to make this milestone post on my favorite current thread.
I can't wait to see what SV does with "Spell" and the rest of Season 4.
Also, SV has been one of the biggest supporters of my writing attempts here on K-Site.
Smilies all around :D :D :D :D :D, 'cause I'm now a Kryptonsite Pro!

Alternate CLANA: SPELL - Part 2
The next day Clark puts a bale of hay down near the barn as Lois Lane pulls into the driveway behind him and gets out of her car. He turns around and walks toward her.
Clark: Hey, Lois. What are you doing here? Why aren't you at school?
Lois: We're having a surprise party for Chloe's 18th birthday in your barn, remember?
Lois opens the back door of her car and pulls out a cardboard box full of party decorations.
Clark: No. I remember telling you you couldn't have it here.
Lois: [Handing the box to Clark.] Too late now. Everyone's already been invited, and you really don't want it getting back to Chloe that you rained on her shindig. That would hurt her feelings.
Lois pulls out another box and stacks it on top of the box that Clark is already holding.
Clark: What?
Lois: Then I'd have to hurt you.
Lois pulls the third and final box out of her car and closes the door. She walks toward the barn and Clark follows her.
Clark: Listen, Lois, I don't want--
Lois: Can you give me a hand with these? I have to get the wheels back to my dad before he notices them missing.
Clark: Lois, we can't do this tonight. The guy from Princeton's coming to meet me. Besides, my parents are out of town.
Lois: Relax, Smallville. It's just gonna be a couple of people standing around singing Happy Birthday. It's not gonna be Sodom and Gomorrah. Mr. Ivy League won't even know we're here. Trust me.
Lois enters the barn, leaving Clark unable to argue further.

Later, Clark is in the kitchen, trying to wrap a large box as a gift. He picks up a
pre-made red bow and slaps it on top of the box. He sits down and turns the gift around, inspecting it as Lana enters behind him.
Lana: [Seeing the present.] Maybe you need a woman's touch.
Clark stands up and turns around to look at her.
Clark: Hey, Lana.
Lana: Hello, Clark.
Clark walks over to give her a small kiss.
Lana: That’s it? Come here, handsome.
Lana pulls him by the shirt, standing on her toes to reach his lips. Clark kisses her gently, several times. Lana intensifies the kiss rapidly. Clark quickly pulls back, looking at Lana worriedly.
Clark: Lana, what’s going on with you? You’re making me crazy. Look, um, I'm glad you're here. I wanted to talk to you about what happened at your apartment last night - with the book.
Lana advances again, seductively.
Clark: Are you, uh, feeling okay? You seem a little, uh... [Clark plops down on the stool as Lana continues to advance on him.] ...different.
Lana: Well, maybe it's the company.
Lana puts a hand on Clark's face and drags it down his cheek softly.
Clark: Lana. Not here. (but his will is weakening)
She closes in on him, and begins to kiss him again. Clark's eyes close as their lips touch and Lana runs her fingers through his thick hair. She yanks a strand of hair out of his head as she moves her hands away.
Clark pulls away.
Clark: Lana, what are you doing? You are not acting like yourself at all.
Clark stares at Lana, trying to figure out what's wrong with her.
Lana holds up the hair and looks at it closely. She smiles with satisfaction.
Lana: It's perfect. Thanks, handsome.
She walks out of the house happily. Clark watches her go. He is confused and worried. [I]Something very strange is going on with Lana. If I didn’t know better, I’d think she was affected by Red K, or the Nicodemus flower, or some of that spiked Gatorade. Maybe it has something to do with that Spell book she bought.

Lex is in his study at the mansion playing the grand piano. Lana enters the study and Lex stops playing.
Lana: You play beautifully.
Lex: Thanks, but I'm afraid I'm a little rusty.
Lana: Well, I hate to interrupt. But I wanted to ask you for a favor.
Lex: Have I ever been able to refuse Lana Lang?
Lex smiles at her and gets up from the piano walking toward the center of the room. Lana follows him.
Lex: What do you need?
Lana: Oh, a good bottle of wine for Chloe's birthday.
Lex: Well, the last time I checked, she wasn't turning 21 yet.
Lana: I know, but I thought it'd be nice to raise a glass with her and Lois to celebrate. [Lex looks reluctant.] I promise I won't tell anyone where I got it from. [Almost a whisper.] It'll be our little secret.
Lana stares temptingly into Lex's eyes, weakening his resolve.
Lex: Well, I think I might have a light Riesling that won't do too much damage.
Lana smiles and Lex starts to leave on his way to the wine cellar.
Lana: Actually, I was looking more for a vintage Merlot from the south of France. Something from a vineyard in the Languedoc or possibly the Deldonia. That should do in a pinch.
Lex: [From the next room.] Well, your tastes have certainly matured from a summer in Paris. Just give me a second.
Lana looks around the room, seeming to search for something. She then sees it, the old manuscript page that Lex still has displayed in the glass box on the pedestal. I knew I’d find it here. Her memories are clear, of what Clark told her he saw here. She suddenly becomes very serious and walks toward it slowly, obviously recognizing it. Lex returns to the study with a bottle of wine.
Lex: 1902 from the Sallier vineyards in Languedoc. It should make quite the birthday present.
Lana: [Still looking at the page.] What is this?
Lex: Just a little something I picked up in St. Petersburg. It's an illuminated manuscript depicting the ancient--
Lana: You're lying.
Lex: [Startled.] What?
Lana: [Turning to him.] You know it's true nature, but the map was not meant for you.
Lex: Lana, how did you know there's a map hidden under the page?
Lana: Because...
She looks at Lex coldly for a long moment. He looks back at her, confused and a little uneasy. Lana then turns back to the manuscript page and points at it with her index and small fingers. When she points, a small ball of pink energy hovers above her hand.
Lana: Venis e! (Come out!)
The manuscript evaporates from the box on the pedestal. Lex walks toward it, stunned.
Lex: Lana, what did you do?
Lana: [Pointing her fingers at Lex.] Finis! (End!)
Lex stops mid stride, unable to move.
Lana: You seek the stones, don't you? [She takes the wine bottle out of Lex's hands.] Well, we can't have that. [She walks behind him.] I think that you're right, Alexander. You do need more practice. Keep playing. Infinitas. (Forever)
Lana leaves the study. Lex then walks robotically over to the piano and sits down on the bench. He begins to play the same piece he was playing when Lana came in. As he plays, he looks around helplessly, unable to stop, his hands caught in Lana's spell.

Alternate CLANA: SPELL - Part 3
Lana is standing in the woods at night softly shaking a decanter of dark liquid and chanting in Latin.
Lana: Per lunam et mare. Redi e aquae sublatus sunt. Per lunam et mare. Redi e aquae sublatus sunt. Per lunam et mare. Redi e aquae sublatus sunt. (Through moon and sea. Return, having been raised out of the water)
As she chants, the potion turns an incandescent pink and pink steam rises from the bottle. On the ground before her are three Kryptonian symbols, one of which is the symbol from her back. They glow on the dirt, then slowly disappear as the potion also stops glowing. Lois comes up behind Lana.
Lana: Per lunam et mare. Redi e aquae sublatus--
Lois: Okay, what are we doing in the woods? Chloe's right behind me, and the moonlight nature hike? It's making her a little suspicious.
Lana: I thought it'd be nice to get together with my girls before the party.
Chloe runs up to them.
Chloe: What party?
Lois: [To Lana.] Way to ruin the surprise.
Chloe: [Laughing.] Oh, you mean the party that you've been planning for the last month?
Lois: You know about that?
Chloe: Oh, hello. Investigative reporter. Nothing gets past me. Except why we're playing wood nymph when there's a party waiting for me with my name on it.
Lana: Then we'd better hurry.
Lana picks up three goblets from a picnic basket and hands one to Chloe and one to Lois.
Lana: A toast, in honor of this special night.
Lois: [Smiling.] All right. This is getting better.
Lana fills their glasses with the potion, and pours some for herself too.
Lana: No matter how much time passes, old friends are never forgotten.
Chloe: I'll drink to that.
Lana: Cheers.
Chloe & Lois: Cheers.
They clink their glasses together and Lana holds her glass near her mouth without drinking. She watches with quiet excitement as both Chloe and Lois drink.
Several loud thunderclaps are heard as lightning flashes and a strong wind starts to blow. Lois looks at her glass strangely. Then just as their eyes start turning pink, Lois and Chloe both throw their heads back roughly, looking toward the sky and gasping. When they return to their normal upright positions, the wind and thunder stop. Lois and Chloe look around as if unsure of where they are.
Lana: [To Chloe.] Madeline. [To Lois.] Briana. Welcome to the 21st century.
Chloe: [Excited.] How did we come to be here?
Lana: The last spell I cast before Wilkins condemned me to the pyre. My blood entwined with the symbol in the book which called to my heir. [Lois smiles.] And when she touched it, I gained possession of her body and brought you back.
Lois: I'm gorgeous! [Touching her chest and laughing.] Look at these!
Lana: [Uninterested.] Yes. They're very nice.
Chloe: [Breathing deeply.] Ah, the woods of France. I'd know them anywhere.
Lana: We're in Kansas, Madeline.
Lois: Where?
Lana: The Americas. I am unsure as to why I was resurrected here. It was not of my intention, but--
Chloe: The book! Do you have it?
Lana smiles and looks at the picnic basket sitting nearby on the ground. In the basket we see the wine bottle and the spell book.
Lana: It is ours once again. And with it, our magics. Now we may continue our quest for the stones of--
Chloe: Oh, uh... Is that the same quest that got us burned at the stake?
Lois: That was not pleasant.
Lana: A small toll to travel the road of ultimate power. [Lois and Chloe look hesitant.] You have your hosts' memories. Use them to navigate this world and help us to seize the power.
Lois and Chloe smile at Lana and she smiles in return.

At Clark's barn, a large banner is hanging that says "Happy Birthday Chloe." The whole place is decorated and music plays as the guests mingle. A lot of people are there, but the party is calm. Clark is trying to call someone on his cell phone, but no one answers and he hangs up his phone, frustrated. With a loud clank, the double doors at the front of the barn slide open and we see Lana, Lois, and Chloe standing there, silhouetted in blue moonlight. They enter the barn purposefully, walking in perfect stride with each other. All three of them are wearing tight and provocative black clothing and black high-heeled boots. Everyone applauds for Chloe. She smiles brightly.
Guests: Surprise!
Clark looks at the girls strangely.
Lana: We don't have time for this.
Chloe: Time is the only thing we do have. Isn't that what you said right before the angry mob set us on fire?
Lana: You're really not gonna let that go, are you?
Chloe goes to greet the guests and Clark pulls Lois aside.
Clark: The guy from Princeton's gonna be here any minute. Why are you so late?
Lois: I took the scenic route. [Looking Clark up and down lustfully.] Love the view.
Clark: [Uncomfortable.] Have you been drinking?
Lois merely smiles in response. Clark goes to Lana.
Clark: (to Lana) Why are you acting like this? And why are you dressed like that?
Lana: Because it makes me feel sexy. Lana walks away from Clark to where Chloe is standing at the refreshment table. Clark looks at Lana with concern for a long time.
Chloe: [With her mouth full.] The food is so good in this century!
Lana: And the men actually bathe.
Lois joins them, checking out a passing guy.
Lois: And their bodies are so hard!
Lana takes both of them by the hand and starts leading them to the door.
Lana: But we have definitely had better celebrations. This is appalling.
Chloe: We could change that.
Chloe smiles mischievously at Lana. Lana looks from Chloe to Lois, thinking it over.
Lana: Well, it has been 400 years. Perhaps a little fun before we continue our quest.
All three of them turn around and point at the guests of the party with their index and small fingers. They each have a small ball of pink energy hovering above their hands and wind starts to blow through the barn as the lights dim.
Lana: Liberate bestia! (Set free the wild animal!)
The pink energy above their hands explodes and fills the room. When it fades away, dance music is playing loudly and everybody in the room is dancing manically. Several guests, both men and women, are in nothing but their underwear.
A man dressed in a suit and carrying a briefcase enters. He is MR. JACOBSON, the man Clark has been waiting for from Princeton University. He steps through a beaded doorway and jumps out of the way of a shirtless young man and woman who run by him. He looks around the room, taken aback, and starts to make his way through the half naked dancers.
Jacobson: Pardon me.
He taps a young man on the shoulder.
Jacobson: Where's Clark Kent?
The young man points to the stairs to the loft. Mr. Jacobson looks up and sees Clark in his boxers dancing with reckless abandon next to Lana and Chloe.
Jacobson: Clark!
Clark looks down to see who called his name.
Jacobson: Clark!
Clark smiles down at him, still dancing.
Jacobson: Mr. Jacobson, Princeton University.
Clark: Hey, come on in! Join the party! Whoo!
Jacobson looks around as if he can't believe his eyes and ears. Clark continues to dance.
Clark: Whoo!

Alternate CLANA: SPELL - Part 4
The next day, inside the barn, party decorations from the night before are strewn all over the ground. The guests are all gone. A cell phone starts to ring, and Clark sits up behind several bales of hay where he had been sleeping. He looks at the caller ID on his phone, has a brief moment of panic, then answers the phone.
Clark: Hey, Mom. Yeah, how's Metropolis? Really? I'm glad you're having a great time.
Clark tugs at his pants which are lying next to him but seem to be stuck under something. We realize they are stuck under a young man and woman who are also sleeping nearby. They both get up and run out of the barn.
Clark: [Standing up.] What? Oh, yeah, the guy-- the guy from Princeton. Yeah, I met him last night. I, um... Don't worry. I-I think I made an impression.
Clark looks at a dangling line of strung lights miserably.
*****
Clark enters Lex's study, where Lex is playing the piano. Clark starts talking, but doesn't actually look in Lex's direction while he speaks.
Clark: Lex, can I talk to you for a second? I got a big problem. I was supposed to meet this alumni from Princeton last night, but then Lois wanted to throw a party for Chloe in the barn. Well, the party kind of got out of hand, and the guy from Princeton showed up and I think I kind of blew it.
Clark walks past the piano, still not looking at Lex. We see Lex from the back. His head sways exhaustedly.
Clark: Look, um, I hate to ask you this, but do you have any connections at Princeton?
Clark finally looks at Lex who continues to play without answering.
Clark: Lex?
He walks closer and looks down at Lex's hands. Lex's fingers are bleeding and there is blood all over the keys of the piano.
Clark: Lex, what are you doing?
Lex looks up at Clark. His eyes are desperate, watery, and tired, but he plays on. Clark kneels down next to him and grabs his arms.
Clark: Stop. Stop it!
Lex: I can't.
Clark pushes the piano with one hand, and it wheels away from them. Then he holds Lex's arms tightly to keep him seated.
Clark: Lex, what happened?
Lex: [Weakly.] Lana.
Breathless, Lex lets his head slump down and his eyes close.
*****
That night, Clark is in Lana's apartment looking at the cover of the spell book. As he opens the book, a fire lights itself in the fire place and Clark looks at it as Lana enters behind him.
Lana: You really shouldn't play with that. You might hurt yourself.
Clark: You and the girls were the life of the party last night.
Lana: One last fling before I finish what I started a long time ago. [Clark walks to her slowly.] You don't want to get in my way.
Clark: Who are you?
Lana: Qui est-ce que vous pensez? (What do you think?)
Clark: [Quietly.] Isobel?
Lana: In the new flesh. [She laughs.]
Clark: What did you do with Lana?
Lana: She's in here somewhere.
Clark: Could you let her out?
Lana: [Laughing loudly.] Now, why on earth would I ever do that?
Clark: [Looking at the spell book.] You know, all this started when Lana found this book.
He picks up a kitchen lighter and clicks the flame to life, holding it above the book, not wanting to reveal his abilities.
Clark: So, I'm guessing if anything happens to this book...
Lana wiggles her finger as if saying "Come here" to the spell book, and it is suddenly out of Clark's arms and in hers.
Instantly, Clark shoots the book with his heat vision.
Isobel: Noooo!!!!!
The book disintegrates and Lana collapses to the floor.
Clark runs to her & takes her in his arms, sitting on the floor.
Clark: Lana? Lana, are you okay? Lana, please be okay.
Clark smooths her hair back and kisses her forehead. Lana’s eyes flutter open slowly.
Lana: Clark? What happened? The last thing I remember, you and I were sitting by the fire, and I was looking at the Spell book of Countess Theroux.
Clark pulls Lana into his arms tightly.
Clark: Oh, Lana, I’m so glad you’re back. Isobel seems to have possessed you.
Lana: Possessed me? Why?
Clark: I think she was after the three stones of power, Lana. Let me see something.
Clark starts to lift up the back of the dressy maroon top Lana is wearing.
Lana: Clark, what are you doing?
Clark’s hand glides over the skin on the small of her back. He breathes a sign of relief.
Clark: It’s gone. The tattoo, Lana. It’s gone. I think this means Isobel is gone for good.
Clark pulls Lana close and begins to kiss her. His hand is still on her back, under her clothing. Lana’s heart beat quickens rapidly. She returns his kisses eagerly. After several minutes, they look into each other’s eyes, passion rising in each of them.
Clark: Lana, I don’t ever want to lose you. It felt so weird to have Isobel here instead of you. I’m so glad you’re back.
He caresses her back, where the tattoo had been. Lana feels a surge of passion as his hand glides over her skin.
Lana: Clark, if you don’t move your hand soon, there’s going to be no hope for our “dream” to ever come true, because I’m about to rip your clothes to shreds.
Clark quickly removes his hand and stands up, taking Lana’s hands and pulling her to her feet.
Clark: I’m sorry, Lana. I didn’t mean…
Lana: It’s okay, Clark. (She keeps both of his hands in hers and looks up into his eyes.) I’m glad it’s you who has that effect on me.
Clark: Well I’m glad you are yourself again. (He gives her a light kiss on the forehead.)
Lana: So what did Isobel do while she possessed me?
Clark: How about I tell you about it over dinner?
Lana: Sounds great, Clark.
Clark & Lana exit the apartment and head off to a nearby restaurant for dinner.
*****
[b]Alternate CLANA: SPELL - Part 5
The next morning, Clark comes down the stairs to where Martha is in the kitchen slicing fruit on the cutting board.
Martha: Well, look who's finally awake.
Clark: Mom. When did you guys get home?
Martha: This morning. Your dad is out there doing your chores.
Clark: Sorry. I guess I overslept.
Clark gets a pitcher of juice from the fridge and pours a glass. Jonathan enters.
Clark: Hey, Dad.
Jonathan: Hey, Clark. Son, is there maybe a little something you'd like to tell your mother and me?
Jonathan holds up a sexy red and black bra.
Martha: [Quietly.] Where did that come from?
Jonathan: From out in the barn. In the hay.
Martha: [Shocked.] Clark...
Clark: [Quickly.] It was magic.
Martha: I'm sure it was.
Clark: No, I mean it really was. Look, I should not have thrown this party without talking to you guys. I know that. But it's the way things spun out of control. It was Lana. Well, it wasn't Lana exactly. She was possessed by a Isobel who then cast a spell on us, and... that's how that happened.
Jonathan: Son, I realize that, after all, this is Smallville. But witches and spells and... [He holds up the bra.] ...magic?
Clark: Dad, magic exists. I saw it. And worse, it can hurt me.
Jonathan and Martha share a concerned glance.
*****
At the Talon, Lana is in her apartment, cleaning up some broken glass from the countertop. Lex enters.
Lex: You leave quite a path of destruction.
Lana: Lex. I was going to come see you.
Lex: Preemptive strike. Just in case there was any evil dead action still brewing.
Lana: Well, apparently I have been exorcised. I didn't do anything to you, did I?
Lex looks at one of his hands.
Lex: Oh, nothing permanent, but you did display some intriguing abilities.
Lana: Yeah, I don't remember anything. I don't think I really want to.
Lex: Well, I'm just glad you're all right.
Lana: Thanks to Clark. I don't remember what he did, but Isobel's back to being history.
Lex: I guess we all owe Clark our gratitude.
*****
Clark is cleaning up the rest of the party decorations in the loft. He picks up a pair of red women's underwear and stares at it uncomfortably. Lana enters behind him, seeing the underwear.
Lana: At least those aren't mine.
Clark quickly drops the underwear into the garbage.
Clark: Hey, Lana.
Lana: [Coming up the stairs.] I wanted to thank you again for coming to my rescue.
Clark: Well, it's good to have the old Lana back. Isobel was, um... aggressively sexy.
Lana: [Smiling, embarrassed.] Oh, great. Possessed by an evil slut.
Lana looks at Clark silently as if she has more to say. Clark waits for her to go on.
Lana: Clark, why would my ancestor, Isobel Theroux, want to possess me? And do you think she was really a witch? I mean Kryptonian symbols were involved. I was thinking, maybe it’s not the usual type of witchcraft at all. Maybe the powers she wielded were of Kryptonian origin.
Clark: Her powers and her ability to possess you seemed tied to that book, Lana, and to that symbol - the one that was on her tomb & on your back - the same one on the Transference stone, that switched me with Lionel. Somehow that Kyptonian symbol seems to be connected to the ability to transfer spirits in various ways. Maybe that book holds some ancient Kryptonian power within it, & Isobel somehow learned to use it. Anyway, I’m glad she’s gone, and I have my own Lana back.
Clark takes Lana into his arms and holds her close. She rests her head upon his chest. She tips her chin up, looking into his eyes. He lowers his head and their lips meet in a tender kiss. She again rests her head against his chest
Lana: It feels good to be home, Clark.
Clark smiles.
Clark: Yeah.
*****
A flashlight shines on the symbol on the cave wall. The person holding the flashlight is Lex. He stares at the symbol very seriously. His curiosity has been piqued by what happened with Lana & the manuscript & the piano, etc. He will soon step up his efforts to investigate the stones.

Right. Hidden update is next, then Clana Journals: BOUND, THEN Alt. CLANA: BOUND. I don't recall any interaction at all between Clark & Lana in BOUND on the show. I'll have to re-watch the episode, but I believe Lana has her dream of Isobel in that epi. Now, in Alt. Clana, I have the option of allowing the dream to happen or not - since Isobel is gone. And I can create some CLANA instead of sorting out Isobel's past. I hope y'all like it. And thanks again to Cardinal for helping me get past my writer's block. :)

Hmm... Isobel's absence will definitely change things--but then, the presence of delicious Clana has been doing that already! This will definitely change episodes like "Spirit"--which originally saw the return of Clana--for the better! And I do wonder what the situation when Alicia returns will be like...
Heck, this'll change Commencement by leaps and bounds, won't it? But hey--cross that bridge when you come to it, right?

Okay, Matt, it's still your birthday in my time zone, so I'm not late with this birthday update. I planned to make it longer, but got delayed by so many other updates to read for your birthday: from binkys, SuperNes, and 2 from Meg101  - and there are probably more that I still have to find.
*****
So Happy Birthday, Matt! Here's your update:
Alternate CLANA: BOUND - Part 1
Lex has been talking with his lawyer Corinne Harper, at the mansion, about the events at the opera and hotel the night before. As she is about to leave, Clark enters behind her.
Corinne: I'm not here to hold your hand, Lex. You want a hug, call your mother.
Lex shakes his head unhappily. Corinne glances at Clark, then leaves the room with the guard as Clark walks to Lex.
Clark: Lex.
Lex: Clark. I take it you saw my walk of shame on the news?
Clark: How are you holding up?
Lex: Not so great, actually. I trust you're here as a friend.
Clark: Just tell me you didn't do this.
Lex puts his hands on Clark's shoulders.
Lex: I met a girl at the opera. I took her to a hotel. I didn't kill her.
Clark: [He nods, believing.] Who is she?
Lex: I don't know.
Clark: [Shocked.] Wait, you slept with her, but you didn't know her name?
Lex: It's one of those nights that never happens. You meet somebody and you just get caught up in the moment. I'm guilty of that, but I'm not a murderer. It was my father. He's framing me.
Clark: Your father's in prison.
Lex: You really think that matters? Go home, Clark. You don't want to be involved in this. Trust me.
Lex leaves Clark alone in the study.
*****
Clark stops at Lana’s apartment on his way home. Lana opens the door in response to his knock.
Lana: Hey, Clark. (She kisses him) I was beginning to think you might not come tonight.
Clark: Sorry I’m a bit later than usual. I stopped to see Lex.
Clark walks in, and they go to the kitchen. Lana pours two cups of coffee and they sit at the small table as they talk.
Lana: Yeah. I saw that news report. Clark, you don’t think Lex really could have done it, do you?
Clark: He says he didn’t.
Lana: Who was she? I didn’t even know Lex had a girlfriend.
Clark: That’s just the thing - he doesn’t. Lex doesn’t even know her name. He said he just met her at the opera & they got carried away in the moment.
Clark becomes quiet, seeming to be in deep thought.
Lana: What is it Clark? What are you thinking?
Clark: Just… just that Lex and I sure are different. Lana, I try so hard to always show you the respect that you deserve, to preserve for you that wonderful dream of your wedding night - hopefully our wedding night. (Clark reaches across the table and squeezes Lana’s hand, then keeps her hand in his.) But Lex - he didn’t even know her name yet he took her to a hotel and basically just used her for his own self-gratification.
Lana: Well, it takes two, Clark. She evidently agreed to go with him. So I guess she was using him too.
Clark: Maybe. I guess that people who treat intimacy as something to be entered into so thoughtlessly, rob themselves of the awesome beauty and deep meaning that comes with a lifelong commitment. Reserving intimacy for the one person to whom you have been bound for life, makes every act of union become an expression of the commitment they have made to each other.
Lana: That’s exactly the way I see it too, Clark. Only, I have to admit, that when I’m alone with you, I have to keep reminding myself of that so many times. Because, like you, when I think about my future wedding night, it is our wedding night. And I get so impatient. I have such a desire to give my entire self to you alone, Clark.
Clark: And I to you alone, Lana. But I have to keep reminding myself, that until we have actually made a lifelong commitment to each other, intimacy cannot be an expression of that commitment - because no commitment exists. So, out of respect for you, I try to reign in my desires.
Lana: Thank you, Clark. I really respect you for that - and love you all the more for it.
Lana stretches over to Clark and gives him a small kiss.
*****
Later that night, Lana is asleep in her apartment. A smile spreads across her face, though she is sound asleep….
Lana and Clark stand before a minister in a huge church, she in a wedding gown, he in a tux. “I Lana, take you, Clark to be my husband….” “I, Clark, take you Lana, to be my wife…” “You may kiss the bride…”
Cut to a shot of the woman’s face on the cave wall…. “She’s the woman he’s destined to be with…” “Somehow it’s you, Lana…” “He will give the bracelet to the woman he is destined to be with. She will help him to fulfill his destiny….”
Cut to a large hotel room. Clark carries Lana into the room and lays her on the bed, kissing her all the while. She pulls him down and begins to unfasten his shirt…. “I love you my husband.” “I will love you always, Lana, my wonderful wife…” “I am yours alone, forever.” “And I belong entirely to you, always.” They continue to kiss with more passion than they’ve ever allowed themselves to express before now.
When Lana awakens in the morning, she has such a sense of peace and joy. She smiles as she remembers her dreams of Clark. She is more certain than ever that he is the one to whom she will someday pledge her love and commitment - and she will give herself entirely to him alone. Still smiling, Lana gets up to start her day, now daydreaming of a future with Clark.
*****
Clark visits Lionel at the prison. After a while, Lionel revels something astonishing to Clark.
Lionel: Listen to me. I was ill, Clark. The liver disease I had was a death sentence. And something happened. I can't explain it. I woke up on the floor. There was a riot. I... I felt as if... a different kind of energy had been... inside me. Something strong and... good. I was changed. [He laughs quietly.] And my liver had healed.
Clark: [Nervous.] What was it?
Lionel: I don't know. All I can say was... it was miraculous. I could see the darkness, the destructive power that had always been inside me. I can see it in Lex now. I have to help him, Clark.
Clark ponders this as he leaves the prison to try to help Lex.
*****
Martha is trying to use the cappuccino machine in the Talon. She is having trouble with it as Lana walks up to the bar behind her.
Martha: Stupid, stupid.
Lana: I swear, one time, that thing actually bit me.
Martha: Oh, hi, Lana. It does take a certain touch. [Martha turns to face Lana.] What’s the big smile for? Did you win the lottery or something?
Lana: Uh… no. I just had this really awesome dream last night. It was about Clark.
Martha: Oh, I see. (Martha smiles.) Oh, Lana, I almost forgot. You have a visitor.
Martha gestures beyond Lana to a woman who is standing with her back to them. The woman is well dressed and very elegant.
Lana: [Disbelievingly.] She's here for me? [Martha nods.]
Lana looks at the woman again, then walks toward her.
Lana: Excuse me.
The woman turns around.
Genevieve: Lana. It's wonderful to finally meet you. You are beautiful.
Lana: I'm sorry. Do I know you?
Genevieve: I'm Jason's mother, Genevieve Teague.
Lana looks puzzled.
Lana: What can I do for you, Mrs. Teague?
Genevieve: Could we sit?
Lana: Sure. [Leading Genevieve to a table.] Would you like some tea?
Genevieve: Um, no thank you. [They sit.] I know this may sound impossibly British, but I just can't bring myself to drink tea from a mug. [She laughs.] Is that terrible?
Lana: No, of course not.
Genevieve: How's Jason? I haven't spoken to him since he left Paris, saying he just had to be with you. He won't answer any of my calls. I'm afraid that, um, I'm afraid he thinks I'm angry with him. But I simply want to see him again. Could you possibly tell him that…
Lana: Mrs. Teague, I... I think you may have the wrong idea about me and Jason. We’re not together. We’re just friends. Jason took a coaching job - at my school.
Genevieve: Oh. I see. Well, in that case, I am sorry to have bothered you, Lana.
Genevieve stands up to go. Lana stands too, and then Genevieve turns to her.
Genevieve: Goodbye, Lana. You are so beautiful. I see now why he said he had to be with you. It’s too bad it didn’t work out.
Lana smiles and nods uncomfortably as Genevieve touches her shoulder, then leaves.
When she is gone, Lana lets her smile go as she takes a deep breath, shaken by the encounter.
A few moments later, Clark enters the Talon. He sees Lana right away and heads over to her.
Clark: Hi, beautiful.
He begins to take her into his arms for a kiss but notices the worried look on her face.
Clark: Is something wrong, Lana?
Lana: I’m not sure. Clark, Jason’s mother just came to see me.
Clark: Jason’s mother came to see you? Why would she do that?
Lana: Apparently, she thought Jason and I were together, and wanted me to get him to talk to her. Something about her manner just gave me the creeps. But, hey, I don’t want her to spoil my otherwise wonderful morning. Come here, handsome.
Lana slides her arms around Clark’s waist and stretches up to kiss him. He pulls her close and meets her lips willingly, kissing her several times, and then looking into her eyes.
Clark: So what was it that made this such a wonderful morning.
Lana: Oh, just a dream I had.
He raises his eyebrows inquisitively. Lana smiles and nods.
Lana: You guessed it. It was about us - about our future - together.
Clark smiles and wraps Lana in his arms once again. She sighs and rests her head upon his chest contentedly. I just know that we are meant to be together.

Good twist on bound, SV. It seems like marriage is becoming really popular atm. I'm sure AlMiles read all these fan-fics and was convinced by the awesome clana we have in here. Which means that we should all dedicate the marriage proposal in Smallville to the writers here at the clana board. So; thank you ;)

(Here's an update I wrote while waiting for 4Ever's update this morning)
Alt. Clana: BOUND - Part 2
Chloe and Clark are in the Torch office, discussing the events concerning Lex and the murdered woman.
Chloe hands Clark a newspaper with a headline that says "Luthor Sex Scandal Expands!"
Chloe: The police have interviewed over 13 women that have slept with Lex in the last year.
Clark looks hurt.
Chloe: What's wrong?
Clark: Lex told me that this little one night stand was something that never happens.
Chloe: And you believed him?
Clark: I gotta believe somebody, Chloe.
Clark tracks Eve Andrews & finds Lex there, burning photos. He helps Lex escape, then they have a heated discussion at the mansion, ending with this:
Lex: [Angry.] You can't straddle the fence on this one, Clark! My father and I are enemies. You have to decide who you really trust.
Startled, Clark stares at Lex, unable to answer.
*****
Chloe & Clark are in the Torch office.
Chloe: She was stalking him, and he didn't know what she looked like?
Clark: He said he'd never seen her before. Lex lied about a lot of things. He lied about all those women. Do you think he could've done it?
Chloe: I'd have to say the whole fire starter thing doesn't exactly scream innocence, but there's something really strange about this. Look at this.
Chloe leads Clark to her computer and clicks the mouse, starting the video taken by the elevator security camera of Lex and the woman kissing.
Clark: Wait, I thought Lex's attorneys would have all this under lock and key.
Chloe: Yeah, well, she may know people at the top, but I know people at the bottom, and they work for tips. Check this out. See?
Chloe pauses the video at a point where Lex is kissing the woman's neck and her face is turned up toward the camera with both of her ears in sight.
Chloe: [Pointing to the screen.] She's wearing two diamond earrings. See that?
Clark: Yeah.
Chloe: Okay, now, we're gonna skip through all this gross Zalman King stuff.
Clark smiles at Chloe's comment as she speeds up the video through all the kissing.
Chloe: Just before they get out of the elevator onto the penthouse floor, and look.
She pauses the video and zooms in again. She points to the screen and we see one of the woman's ears is bare.
Clark: She lost an earring.
Chloe: Exactly. Now, the police report said that the dead woman was wearing two diamond earrings. So either she found it, or--
Clark: Lex was with two different women.
Chloe nods.
Chloe: Maybe we should go to that hotel, Clark, & investigate, look for the missing earring, maybe re-enact the elevator scene.
Clark looks at Chloe with wide eyes.
Clark: Re-enact it, Chloe? You and me? I don’t think so….
Chloe: Oh, come on, big boy. It’s for truth and justice.
Clark: Umm… no… that’s okay. Maybe I’ll go check it out myself.
Chloe: Okay. Suit yourself. I was just trying to help. Look, I have some other errands to run, so call me if you need any more help, okay? Can you lock up here when you’re done?
Clark: Sure thing, Chloe. Thanks for all your help.
Chloe: What are friends for?
*****
Just after Chloe leaves, Lana enters the Torch office.
Lana: Hi, Clark.
Clark looks up from the computer.
Clark: Hey, Lana.
She walks up behind him and leans down to give him a kiss.
Lana: What are you looking at so intently?
Clark shows Lana the security tape. She is intrigued and studies the tape closely with Clark.
Lana: so what will you do now?
Clark: Well, Chloe suggested that she & I go there to look for the missing earring and re-enact the elevator scene.
Lana: What? Re-enact that scene with Chloe? You will not! If anyone re-enacts that scene with you it will be me.
*****
Clark superspeeds to Metropolis with Lana. Clark and Lana are in the hotel where Lex took the mystery woman before she was killed. They walk toward the bank of elevators and Lana pushes the button.
Lana: So the police still haven't picked up on the missing earring thing, and according to the people at the front desk, they haven't found anything yet. So that's where we're at.
A soft ding is heard as an elevator arrives and the door slides open. Clark and Lana step inside the empty elevator and Lana pushes a button inside.
Clark: [Looking around.] Well, if I were an earring...
The door slides shut and the car starts to ascend.
Lana: (Looking at Clark mischievously) So, shall we re-enact the event? [Gesturing to the side of the elevator.] So Lex had Eve up against this wall right here, so...
Lana stands up against the wall as if she is Eve, and waits for Clark to join her. Clark looks at her, hesitating.
Lana: Come on, Clark. You said it's for the cause of truth and justice. Now, push me up against the wall.
Clark: I don't know, Lana --
Lana takes Clark by the hand and pulls him back toward the wall. He bumps into her intimately, looking a bit uncomfortable. Lana doesn't acknowledge his discomfort and keeps talking in a businesslike manner.
Lana: And her hand was like this... [Lana puts her right hand on Clark's shoulder.] ...and I think his hand was like this.
She takes Clark's right hand and puts it on her face.
Lana: And they were...
With her free hand, Lana feels up and down Clark's back trying to find the right position. Clark feels a strong urge to pull Lana in for a kiss. He resists.
Clark: Maybe he knocked the earring off accidentally.
Lana: Yeah. Yeah, and then she pushed him up against this wall over here like this.
Lana pushes Clark across the elevator and up against another wall., her body slamming into his. When she and Clark are again standing face to face, Lana looks up into Clark’s eyes, and she too feels an overwhelming urge to kiss him.
Lana: [Quietly & seductively] Hi.
They stand with their faces very close for a long moment, looking into each other's eyes, desire surging in each of them. Before they know it their lips are locked in a passionate kiss, their arms wrapped tightly around each other.
Then the elevator dings and the door slides open. Standing outside is a woman with her young twin daughters.
Woman: Oh, my.
Clark: [Pulling away from Lana quickly, embarrassed.] It's okay. You can come in.
Woman: Um, no, that's fine. We'll just, uh, take the stairs.
The woman starts hurriedly escorting her girls toward the stairs. Lana steps into the doorway of the elevator to try to speak to the woman again, but she is already gone. She looks down at the threshold between the elevator car and the level they are on and a thought occurs to her. She kneels down.
Lana: Hey, Clark. What if the earring fell down this crack?
Clark looks through the floor of the elevator with his X-ray vision. His sight zooms all the way down the elevator shaft to the ground floor where he sees a single diamond earring on the ground.
Clark: I see it, Lana.
Lana: Wow! Your x-ray vision is that good? Come on then. Let’s go get the earring - unless, of course, you want to continue our private elevator ride. We could re-enact the scene again…(she smiles coyly).
Clark chuckles and shakes his head .
Clark: Come here.
Clark pulls Lana into the elevator and the door closes.
Clark: You know you do drive me wild, don’t you?
He pulls her into his arms and kisses her again, holding her very close. Lana’s heartbeat quickens and she finds it difficult to breathe. She pulls back slightly.
Lana: Clark, I -
Clark: (Quietly)Shh… (He kisses her one more time.) I know. We shouldn’t. But you are hard to resist.
The elevator reaches the basement floor, and the doors open.
Lana: All good things must come to an end eventually. Here we are. You’d better find that earring.
Clark: Not an end, Lana. Just - postponed. (She makes a face at him.) Okay, okay. I’ll find the earring.
Clark retrieves the earring, then he and Lana return to Smallville.

Alt. BOUND - Part 3
Clark visits Lionel in prison & trusts him to help track the owner of the earring. Meanwhile, Lex finds Corinne dead. Shannon, Corinne’s assistant, shows up and reveals to Lex that she’s the woman from the opera. She knocks him unconscious with the butt of her gun. She brings him to his mansion, with the help of his own guards, saying he drank too much.
Lex: Why here? Why are you doing this?
Shannon: Because this is where it all happened. This is where I earned my earrings... the first time. You see, you remember the other night, but you don't remember the first time. I do. [She puts the gun down on a table.] I had a fiance, but you didn't know that. I cheated on him with you because I thought that you loved me. [She kneels next to Lex.] And when I broke it off with him, I called to tell you that, but you wouldn't take my call.
Lex: I'm sorry. If I had known--
Shannon: [Becoming more upset.] But you didn't. And then three months later, I bump into your outside of Corinne's office and you don't even recognize me. It was like I never happened to you.
She stands up and walks behind Lex, touching his shoulder.
Shannon: And so I started going through your files. It turns out I wasn't the only one.
Lex: Eve Andrews.
Shannon: Among others. She was such a fan. I told her that you wanted to make amends, and she agreed to come to the hotel. And then I slipped a little something into your champagne after we made love. It's funny your blood test didn't pick that up.
Lex: You rigged the test.
Shannon: I just switched out the results.
Lex: You were the one who sent me to her place. You called the police.
Shannon: You were supposed to get caught. But you didn't. And so here we are.
Lex struggles against his bindings, angrily trying to get free.

At her Talon apartment that night, Lana is sitting on the couch alone staring into the fire. I wonder what’s keeping Clark? I thought he’d be here by now. She hears a knock on the door. There he is. Smiling, she gets up and goes to the door. She opens it eagerly, but is surprised to see Jason standing there instead of Clark.
Lana: Oh. Jason. What are you doing here?
Jason: Hey, Lana. I guess you were expecting someone else?
Lana: Well, yeah. Actually I was. I was expecting Clark.
Jason: Well, I guess he stood you up. Lana, I need to talk to you. Can I come in, or do I have to stand in the doorway for the entire conversation?
Lana: Um, no, Jason. I’d rather not talk in my apartment. I’ll come down and talk with you in the Talon.
Jason nods. Lana exits her apartment and follows Jason down the stairs into the Talon. He selects a table off in a corner, and Lana sits across the table from him.
Lana: Is something wrong, Jason? What is it?
Jason: My mother. She showed up here in Smallville.
Lana: I know. She, um… she came to see me.
Jason: She did?
Lana: Yeah. She seemed to believe that we were together, and wanted me to get you to talk to her.
Jason: I’m sorry, Lana. She came to see me, though. And as I tried to explain to her why I came here in the first place, I realized that… that I’m still in love with you, Lana. I…
Lana: Jason, please, don’t. Please don’t go there. I told you before that…
Jason: I know - you’re head over heels for Clark. But, Lana, can you explain to me why? What did I ever do wrong, Lana? How did I lose you?
Lana: Jason, you never had me. My heart has always belonged to Clark.
Jason: Lana, please, give me a chance. Just let me take you out on a date - just once - please, Lana?
Lana: I’m sorry, Jason. I can’t do that. (Lana stands up.) I wish you would move on, Jason.
Lana turns and makes her way back to her apartment, as Jason watches her go, regretfully.
*****
Clark and Chloe are in the Torch office looking at the diamond earring through a microscope. They discover that the earrings were registered to Shannon Bell.
Clark: Shannon Bell. How do I know that name?
Chloe: Well, according to this, she works in Lex's law firm.
Clark: We have to warn him.
Chloe: I'll call the police.
Just as Chloe turns away from Clark to grab her phone from the desk, Clark superspeeds away. Chloe dials the police and turns around, seeing that Clark is gone.
*****
Shannon and Lex are at the mansion. Lex is still tied to the chair. Shannon attempts to set Lex on fire, to end what he keeps doing to women. Clark superspeeds in, puts out the fire, & knocks Shannon unconscious.
*****
It is very late when another knock on her door rouses Lana from her musings as she stares into the fire. Sighing, she gets up and goes to the door. It had better not be Jason again. Opening the door, Lana is relieved to see Clark.
Lana: Oh, Clark. Thank God it’s you. (She opens the door wider to let him in.)
Clark: (worried) Is something wrong, Lana?
Lana wraps her arms around Clark tightly, nuzzling her face into his chest.
Clark: What is it, Lana?
Lana: It’s Jason. He came to see me. First his mother, then him.
Clark: What did he want?
Lana: He said he’s still in love with me.
Clark: Oh?
Lana: Yeah. He begged me to go on just one date with him.
Clark: What did you say?
Lana: Clark, do you really have to ask? I said “no” of course. There’s only one man I want to be with all the time - and that’s you, Clark. Only you.
Lana tips her chin up and looks into Clark’s eyes. Desire swells within her, and within him as well. Clark breaks away and walks a few feet past Lana, staring into the fire.
Clark: Lana, um, I wanted to apologize, for the way I acted in the elevator yesterday. Sometimes I just can’t hold back my desires any longer. I…
Lana: Clark…(She walks closer to him, placing a hand on his arm.) I’m the one who should be apologizing. I was in a playful mood, & I just started out to tease you a little. I guess I forgot just how quickly our desires can rise to the surface. I’m sorry, Clark. I shouldn’t tease you.
Clark turns toward her, taking her hands in his.
Clark: (seriously) Lana, I never, ever, want to take you for granted. I promise you, Lana, I will always treat you with the respect you deserve.
Lana: And I promise you, Clark, that I will be more careful, and not tease you unnecessarily.
Clark takes Lana into his arms. She rests her head upon his chest. He kisses her forehead lightly and strokes her hair. She relaxes in his arms contentedly. After a while she looks up at him.
Lana: I love being with you, Clark. I feel so at home here in your arms.
Clark smiles warmly, looking at Lana lovingly.
Clark: You belong here with me, Lana. We belong together. We’re meant to be together. I can feel it.
Clark reaches into his pocket and pulls out a box. He opens it, revealing the bracelet he received from Professor Willowbrook.
Clark: Lana, I want you to wear this, as a sign of my love for you. You are the woman I am destined to be with. You are the woman I want to share my life with, the only one with whom I can share all of who I am.
Lana: Oh, Clark. But didn’t the Professor say there is some strange power attached to that bracelet? What if I accidentally activate it, Clark? What if it brings Isobel back? I’ve had enough of that kind of power, Clark. I’m finally rid of her - and the tattoo. I’m afraid to wear it, Clark.
Clark: Lana, you’re not afraid of my powers, are you?
Lana: No, of course not Clark. I’m just afraid of having any myself.
Clark: Lana, the Professor said that this bracelet is meant for the true one in my life. That’s you, Lana. It will always be you. Please wear it, Lana. I’m convinced it is meant for you. It is a sign that we intend to remain together, no matter what. I do intend to, Lana. Don’t you?
Lana: Yes, Clark. Yes, I do intend to stay with you always. Okay. I’ll trust you, Clark. I’ll wear it, for you, as a sign of our love.
Lana extends her arm and Clark clasps the bracelet onto her wrist.
Clark: I love you, Lana. No matter what my destiny turns out to be, I want you by my side.
Lana: No matter what your destiny turns out to be, Clark, I want to stay by your side. I love you, Clark. I will always love you.
Clark leans down and kisses her gently, then holds her again, allowing her to rest her head upon his heart. After a long while, Lana lifts her head again, looking up at Clark.
Lana: Thanks, Clark. Thanks for giving me a place to feel at home.
Clark smiles.
Clark: You’re welcome. You’re very welcome in my arms and in my heart, always.

At the Kent farm, several days later. Jonathan is in the kitchen reading the front page of the Daily Planet. There is a picture of Lex and a headline that says, "Luthor Acquitted of Double Homicide." Martha is pouring a cup of coffee, and Clark is in the kitchen also.
Jonathan: I'm glad Lex was found innocent, but I sure wish you would've come to us before you got yourself involved.
Clark: Well, at first, Dad, I just wanted to help. Then I had to figure out if I could trust him or not.
Martha: What did you decide?
Martha hands the cup of coffee and a bottle of honey over the counter to Jonathan.
Clark: [Sad.] I haven't. I mean, the way he treated those women... It showed me a side of Lex I hadn't seen before. I mean, how could you just not care that you hurt someone?
Jonathan: He's just following what he's learned, son. That's all.
Clark: There's something else you should know. I went to see Lionel.
Martha: What?
Clark: He wanted to help Lex, and he did. I couldn't have done it without him.
Jonathan: Clark. You know how dangerous that man is to you.
Clark: But, Dad, that's the thing. I think he's changed. And his liver's healed.
Martha: I thought his condition was terminal.
Clark: I think something in me actually healed him.
Jonathan: [Stunned.] Clark, does Lionel know about this?
Clark: No. He actually thinks it's a miracle.
Martha: It is.
Clark: Look, I know this sounds crazy, but I really think he has changed. I could see it in his eyes.
Jonathan: Clark, as far as I'm concerned, Lionel Luthor is never gonna change, and neither is Lex. Now, we're just gonna have to accept that.
Clark looks from Jonathan to Martha noncommittally.
*****
Clark's loft at night. Clark stands at the open window and stares out with his arms folded over his chest. He hears someone entering behind him and turns to see Lex coming up the stairs. Then he turns away from Lex and back to the stars. Lex remains at the top of the stairs.
Lex: I wanted to say thank you. And I'm sorry. I know you were only trying to help me.
Clark: [Turning back to Lex.] How long is this gonna continue, Lex?
Lex: I don't know. What do you want me to tell you?
Lex walks to Clark's side and looks forlornly out the window.
Clark: [Quietly angry, hurt.] I don't want you to tell me anything. I want you to change.
Lex: I don't know if I can.
Clark: You know, it seems the only person you care about is yourself. There's a whole side of you that I don't know about, Lex. And what else don't I know about you?
Lex: You don't know that every day, I wonder why I keep going. Why I do the things I do. You know, Shannon might have been crazy, but she was right about me. I treated those women terribly, Clark. People died, and I could've stopped it. I see that now.
Clark: Well, that's a start.
Lex: You know, there was a moment the other night when that fire she set was coming towards me. I thought, good. It would save the world a lot of grief. But somehow, the fire went out. And she was lying on the floor. And suddenly, I had a second chance.
Clark: The last few days, Lex, I... I thought your father was being more honest with me than you were. And I hated that feeling. I felt like we were enemies.
Lex: [Looking into Clark's eyes pleadingly.] Don't give up on me yet.
Clark returns his gaze.
*****
Jason comes out of the Talon through the backdoor into the alley at night. The rain is pouring down. In the alley, there is a chauffeur standing under an umbrella next to a parked car. Jason comes to the car and the man opens the back door for him. Jason gets inside and sits down next to his mother, Genevieve. She smiles at him.
Jason: What are you really doing here, Mother?
Genevieve: I know you don't want to talk to me, Jason. But every mother has a right to see her own son.
There is a thunderclap and flash of lightning. The light reflects off of Genevieve's red coat and casts a strange red glow onto Jason's face that is gone almost immediately.
Jason: You didn't come here to see me.
Genevieve: Is it so terrible to want to meet your girlfriend? At least, I thought she was.
Jason: Well she’s not. Not yet anyway. And you know that. So why are you still here? What do you want with Lana?
Genevieve: Jason, you know I only have your best interests at heart.
Jason: I know no such thing, mother. Look, I will come see you when I'm ready.
Genevieve: When will that be?
Jason: I don't know. But it’s not helping for you to be here. Please go. And you can't come back here.
Genevieve: I just want you to know, Jason, that I really want you to be happy. I mean, Lana is... an enchanting girl. I can see why you moved to the middle of nowhere to be with her. I mean, she's... She's special.
A third lightning flash makes Genevieve's face impossibly pale for only an instant.
Genevieve: I knew you'd meet someone like her one day.
Jason looks at Genevieve for a few seconds, processing what she just said.
Jason: Did I meet her by accident, or not? [Lightning.]
Genevieve: [Laughing.] What on earth are you implying? Of course you did, Jason. How else could you meet her?
Genevieve leans across the seat and kisses Jason on the cheek, dismissing his question.
He remains very still, unconvinced that her answer is the truth.
Genevieve: I'll wait to hear from you.
The lightning holds a fairly steady rhythm as mother and son share a last look, and then Jason gets out of the car. He walks a few feet away, then turns back as the chauffeur gets into the driver's seat and starts the engine.
Even as the car drives away, Jason remains in the middle of the alleyway in the pouring rain.

Alt. CLANA: SCARE - Part 1
Lana and Clark are in her Talon apartment. As they are about to exit, they hear a crash and screams from customers in the Talon. They come quickly out of the apartment and look down into the Talon with concern. They see Jason lying unconscious on the floor, a shattered table beneath him. Clark and Lana hurry down the stairs to his side.
Lana: Jason! (turning her head toward the crowd, yelling) Someone call an ambulance! (Turning back to Jason) Jason. Jason, can you hear me?
Clark: Coach! (Clark checks his pulse and looks at Lana with concern.)
Jason is unresponsive.
*****
Jason is unconscious in a hospital bed at Smallville Medical Center. Lana and Clark are standing beside the bed, looking down at him. Jason’s heart is being monitored on a screen next to the bed. Chloe enters the room.
Chloe: Hey. How’s he doing?
Lana: The doctors don’t know. His heart’s beating a mile a minute, and they can’t get his blood pressure down.
Chloe: That’s a little bit odd for someone who’s unconscious, isn’t it?
Clark: They said he’s in some sort of a panic mode, like he’s having a severe nightmare.
Chloe: What happened?
Lana: I don’t know. Clark and I were leaving my apartment when we heard a crash. We found Jason lying unconscious on the Talon floor. That’s it.
Clark: It’s weird, because he’s been perfectly healthy. You know he works out right along with the team and stays in great shape. But the doctors say that if they can’t get his heart rate down that he could have a heart attack.
Chloe: They must have some idea of what caused this. Clark, maybe we can do a little investigating, and find a clue that could help. Did he have any personal items on him: you know, appointment book, PDA, or anything?
Lana thinks for a moment.
Lana: You know, I think he had a backpack lying near him at the Talon. I wonder if that was brought here or left there?
Clark: Well, if it was brought here, they’ll never let us see it.
Chloe: But, if it was left at the Talon….
Clark: Chloe, I don’t think going through Jason’s personal things falls under your snoop jurisdiction.
Chloe: Well, I’ll take my chances with the jury on this one. It might be the only way to help. Coming?
Clark and Lana follow Chloe out of Jason’s room.
*****
At the Talon, Clark, Lana and Chloe look around for Jason’s bag. It doesn’t take long before Chloe spots it, and quickly begins to look through it. She finds Jason’s PDA and pulls it out of the bag.
Chloe: I think maybe if we backtrack through Jason’s last couple of days, it might help. [She pushes several buttons on the PDA.] Ooh. Jason had a meeting at LuthorCorp this morning. I wonder what that could have been about?
Clark: My guess is he was trying to get more financial support for our team from Lex. You know, Lex provided our uniforms this year. Maybe he’s hoping to get more equipment or something.
Chloe: Well, no matter what the reason, maybe something at LuthorCorp could give us a clue. I’m going to go check it out.
Clark: Chloe, I don’t know if…
Chloe: Clark. I’m going. Coming along?
Clark hesitates and looks at Lana.
Lana: Go ahead, Clark. There may be something that you can do. I’ll see you later.
Lana gives him a quick kiss and heads up to her apartment.
****
Chloe and Clark walk up outside LuthorCorp. They walk toward the gate that leads onto the company grounds. Nobody else is around.
Clark: [Looking around.] This place seems dead.
Chloe: Yeah. My dad used to work the overtime shifts on Saturdays. This lot should be full by now.
Chloe pulls a security card out of her pocket and swipes it through a slot outside the gate. She then pushes the gate open and they walk onto the grounds.
Clark: Where do you think everybody is?
Chloe: I don’t know. But while you’re talking to Lex, I’m gonna give myself a little backstage tour.
They split up. Chloe keeps walking forward and Clark veers off to the left.
Inside, Lex is walking down a hallway with pipes lining the ceiling. Clark turns a corner and walks into the hallway in front of Lex. Lex is clearly in a hurry and seems very much on edge.
Lex: [Angry.] Clark? How the hell did you get in here?
Clark: The, uh, the gate was open.
Lex keeps walking and Clark follows him.
Clark: Your security seems a little MIA lately.
Lex: That’s obvious, but this is a restricted area.
Clark: This’ll only take a second. Lex stops next to a security phone on the wall. He picks up the receiver and speaks into it.
Lex: I need someone to escort a guest out. [He hangs up the phone.] Look, Clark,
I’m sorry, but I just got in from Metropolis. I got a lot to do.
Lex starts walking again and Clark follows him.
Clark: Just now? I thought you had a meeting with Coach Teague this morning.
Lex: Not with me. He was meeting with the head of my advertising department.
Clark: You buying more stuff for our team?
Lex stops walking and turns to face Clark.
Lex: Maybe. I’m surprised he told you.
Clark: He didn’t. Jason’s lying unconscious at the hospital, some sort of neurological stress.
Lex: What? Do they know what happened?
Clark: No. But your advertising guy might have been the last person to talk to him.
Lex: Look, I’ll track him down, but Clark, there could be a lot of reasons for Jason’s condition.
Lex starts to walk away.
Clark: There could also be a lot of reasons why this place is deserted halfway through a Saturday shift.
Lex: [Turning back.] I’ll call in a specialist from Metropolis to take a look at him, if that would help.
Clark watches Lex walk away as a security officer drives up behind Clark in a small cart.
*****
Chloe is walking down a dark set of stairs elsewhere in the plant.
She walks very slowly to an open doorway to look inside. She peeks into the room anxiously. There is a woman sitting hunched over in a chair with her back to Chloe staring at a dark window. Chloe blinks several times, confused, and then enters the room, walking toward the woman slowly. Upon closer inspection, she sees that the woman is wearing a straitjacket. The woman whispers hauntingly.
Woman: I’ve been waiting for you, Chloe.
Chloe: [Quietly.] Mom?
Woman: You can’t escape this, Chloe. None of the women in our family ever have.
Chloe continues walking toward the woman until she is standing right behind her. After a long moment of terrified stillness, Chloe reaches out her hand as if to touch the woman’s shoulder. When she is about to touch it, she pulls her hand away fearfully. Then, reconsidering, she reaches out again and rests her hand on the woman’s shoulder.
Suddenly the chair whips around to face Chloe, and Chloe jumps back with a start. The woman in the straitjacket is a dark and frightening version of Chloe with large black eyes and dry crusty lips. The real Chloe starts to scream hysterically.
Chloe: Aaah! Aaaah!
Chloe continues to scream, suddenly finding herself bound in a straitjacket as well.
Chloe: No! No!
She runs from the room, struggling against the straitjacket.
*****
Chloe is now running out into a main hallway. She is still screaming and struggling as if wearing a straitjacket, but there isn’t one.
Chloe: No! No! Aah!
She keeps screaming as Clark and the security guard come driving toward her in the guard’s cart. The guard stops his cart and starts to stand up looking at Chloe strangely. Clark then taps the guard on the back of the head, knocking him unconscious. Then he runs to Chloe and catches her in his arms just as she passes out.
*****
At Smallville Medical Center, Clark paces in a waiting room while doctors tend to Chloe. Lana walks toward him.
Lana: Clark. How’s Chloe? What happened?
She embraces him, then they sit down to talk.
Clark: The doctors don’t know. Lana, her symptoms are just like Jason’s. It must have been something at LuthorCorp. Lex was very evasive. I think he knows something. The plant was deserted; not normal for a Saturday.
Lana: But, Clark, you were there too, and you’re perfectly fine.
Clark: True. But, Lana, you know a lot of things that harm others don’t affect me.
Lana: Thank goodness. (She leans over to give him a small kiss. She looks seriously into his eyes.) I don’t think I could handle it if it were you lying in there, Clark. I’d probably have a nervous breakdown.
A doctor enters the waiting room.
Doctor: Mr. Kent?
Clark: Yeah. Right here.
Clark stands up and the doctor walks over to him.
Doctor: Miss Sullivan has been stabilized, but her heart rate is extremely high and her pressure too. If we can’t reduce it effectively, she could have a heart attack. Have you contacted her family?
Clark: Yes. Mr. Sullivan was in Metropolis. He is on his way here now. Doctor, can we see her?
Doctor: Briefly. Right this way.
The doctor leads Clark and Lana to Chloe’s room, and leaves them.
Lana enters cautiously, clutching onto Clark’s arm. She looks down at Chloe, and at the heart monitor beside her bed. She swallows hard, tears filling her eyes. She blinks them, fighting back the tears. Clark notices how difficult this is for Lana and wraps his arms around her from behind her, leaning to give her a small kiss on the cheek.
Clark: She’s gonna be okay, Lana. She has to be. I’ll do what I can to help figure this thing out.
Lana nods, then turns to seek comfort in Clark’s arms as she buries her face in his shirt, the tears finally spilling over her lids.
Clark holds her, his own eyes tearing up as well, as he looks over Lana’s head at Chloe, lying there helplessly in the bed.
Clark: I want to try to do something Lana. Do you want to come with me?
Lana: (Lana looks up at Clark) No. No, um, I’ll probably just slow you down. You go. (She nods her head slightly.) I’ll stay here with Chloe until Mr. Sullivan arrives.
Clark: Good idea. Maybe you can check on the Coach too, and let me know how he’s doing.
Lana nods.
Clark: (stroking Lana’s hair) Will you be alright? I hate leaving you here alone…. (He looks lovingly into her eyes, searching them to see if she truly will be alright.)
Lana: I’ll be okay. I’ll come by the farm later, after Mr. Sullivan gets here.
Clark: Okay. I’ll see you later then.
Clark draws Lana close and kisses her lovingly, smoothing a stay stand of hair off of her face.
Clark: I love you, Lana. See you later.
Lana: I love you, too. Bye.
Lana watches as Clark exits the room, with a lingering look back at her.
*****
Later, Clark hangs up the phone as he walks into the Kent kitchen to talk to Jonathan and Martha.
Clark: Eight other people have just come down with the condition that Jason and Chloe have.
Martha: The doctors haven’t found anything in common?
Jonathan: Didn’t you say that Jason and Chloe were both at LuthorCorp today?
Clark: Yeah, but half the victims at the hospital weren’t. Whatever this is seems to strike completely at random. There’s no way to tell who’s gonna be next.
Jonathan: Well, it sounds contagious. In the air or the water?
Clark: Maybe it’ll show up in some environmental quality report.
There is a knock on the door and they see Lana through the screen.
Clark: (smiling) Lana.
Jonathan: Come on in.
Jonathan opens the screen door for her and she enters.
Martha: Clark told us about Jason and Chloe. Has something happened?
Lana: One of the other infected people just died.
Martha looks at Lana sadly.
Jonathan: Lana, do the doctors have any idea at all what’s going on?
Lana: Just that a person’s body can only sustain a level of panic for so long before their heart gives out. (her eyes begin to tear up) I can’t...I can’t just sit in that hospital anymore just... just watching Chloe and Jason die. I want to help.
Clark walks over to Lana and takes her into his arms, kissing her lightly on top of her head. Being in his arms has an immediate calming effect upon Lana. After a few moments, she looks up at him.
Lana: Thanks, Clark. I needed that.
Clark smiles and nods, inwardly becoming worried that this illness could spread to Lana, or his parents.
Clark: Come on, Lana. Let’s go use the Torch computers to try to find some clues.
Taking her hand, the leave together, with a wave to his parents.
*****
Lana and Clark are in the Torch office. Clark is sitting at the computer looking at an environmental quality report for Kansas on the screen.
Lana: We know that Jason was in town by nine o’clock.
Clark: Well, according to the hourly satellite images, we had clear skies all morning.
Lana leans over next to Clark to look at the screen.
Lana: Hourly? Can we get a bit more specific than that?
Clark: I’ll try.
Clark begins to type.
There is a beep from the computer and Lana looks at the screen.
Lana: Look at that.
On the screen, there is a simulation of a cloud forming rapidly over Kansas.
Clark: It looks like that cloud came out of nowhere.
Lana: And then it’s completely gone five minutes later.
Clark: It covered two miles before it dissipated.
Lana: Why would a cloud just appear like that?
Clark: Maybe it’s not a cloud. Maybe it’s pollution or smoke or something.
Lana: Well, if that’s the county line, then Chloe’s house was right in the middle of it.
Clark: So is LuthorCorp.
Clark gets up from the computer and walks away. He doesn’t notice that Lana suddenly starts to feel weak and has to brace herself against the desk to keep from falling…
Lana is strapped down in a chair, blood dripping from the corner of her mouth, her hair tangled and matted. She struggles to free herself to no avail. Lex stands opposite her, his arms folded smugly, a satisfied smile spreading across his lips.
Lex: Finally, I’ll find out the real truth about Clark Kent. If you won’t tell me, Lana, then your life may be expendable as well. But, no matter. I’m sure Clark will show up to rescue his little girlfriend - and walk right into my well designed trap.
Lana: You can’t do anything to Clark. And I’ll die before I tell you anything.
Lex: Is that so? Well, in that case, what if I allow you to watch him die a slow and painful death? You see, Lana, everyone has a weakness. Clark, fortunately for me, has two, if my theory is correct. One of them, is you. The other, I’ll keep to myself, & allow you to watch the effect it will have upon him.
Lana’s eyes grow wide involuntarily, as she imagines Clark being exposed to Kryptonite.
Lana: No, Lex. Please. Please don’t do this.
Lex: Only you can prevent it, Lana. Just tell me everything you know about Clark. Where he comes from. How he does the things he does. How he survived being hit by my car at 60 mph. How he saved you from a tornado & came out of it unscathed. You tell me everything you know, & Clark will be spared the torture I have in mind for him.
Lana: Why should I believe you, Lex?
Just then, the door to the room is ripped off and Clark races in. Lex immediately pulls out a large chunk of Kryptonite.
Lana: Clark! No! It’s a trap! Claaaaaaaaaaark!
Lana is standing in the Torch office screaming at the top of her lungs.
Clark dashes to her side just as she passes out, and she collapses into his arms.
Clark: Lana!
He embraces her tightly, as a look of deep worry spreads over his face.

So Lana's new biggest fear isn't a hot, dry day that makes her hair all frizzy? Darn!
Seriously, it's nice that Lana's biggest fear is what Lex might do to them.
Bring on Clark's nightmare *plays 'Welcome to My Nightmare' in the background*

Yes. Clark has already warned her & told her about Naman & Segeeth. She fears that Clark may be right, but mostly fears having to make a hard choice about revealing Clark's secret.
interesting change in Lana's nightmare....
I wonder what will be Clark's since Lana knows his secret?

Alt. CLANA: SCARE - PART 2
At Smallville Medical Center, the hallways are full of patients, some standing and some unconscious on gurneys. Lex enters the hospital and walks over to a doctor who is standing over a gurney near the waiting area.
Lex: Dr. Scanlan, I understand you’re treating a patient named Jason Teague.
Scanlan: Lex, I’ve got my hands full right now. We’re watching Mr. Teague along with all the others in his condition.
Dr. Scanlan turns to walk away but Lex follows him.
Lex: The others? Are you telling me all these people have the same symptoms?
The doctor stops to check another patient who is lying unconscious on a gurney in the hallway.
Scanlan: Unfortunately. We have no idea what we’re dealing with.
Dr. Scanlan checks the patient’s heart monitor and then continues walking.
Lex: It’s a synthetic toxin.
Dr. Scanlan stops walking and turns back toward Lex.
Lex: [Lowering his voice.] A pressure tank exploded this morning at my plant. We thought we had it contained, but the toxin must have escaped into the atmosphere. It’s possible all these people were exposed at the time
Scanlan: And you’re just telling me this now? I have to call the Center for Disease Control.
Lex: [Following Scanlan.] I don’t know how much they can do, but there’s an antidote my project manager’s been modifying as we speak.
Scanlan: How close is it?
Lex: The first trial was unsuccessful, but I assure you we’ll have the situation under control.
Scanlan: It’s too late for that.
Clark walks into the hallway quickly, carrying Lana.
Clark: (calling urgently) I need a doctor! I need a doctor!
Clark walks swiftly toward Dr. Scanlan and Lex. Dr. Scanlan motions to an empty stretcher next to the wall and Clark places Lana on it gently, caressing her face as an orderly begins to wheel the bed away and Dr. Scanlan follows. Clark goes to Lex, grabbing him roughly by the shoulder.
Clark: Did you know about this when I talked to you earlier today?
Lex: Clark, other than Jason, I had no idea anyone outside of LuthorCorp was exposed. You have to believe me.
Clark: What is this stuff?
Before Lex can answer….
Clark hears screaming. He is in a large warehouse, in a hallway. He uses his superhearing to detect where the screaming is coming from. He scans through the walls with his X-ray vision, his eyes widening in fear. “Lana. No!” He superspeeds to the room in which he saw Lana. He looks again through the door, a wave of guilt flooding over him as he sees not only Lana, but both of his parents, and Pete and Chloe, strapped down onto tables throughout the room. Kryptonite surrounds the tables on all sides.
Clark stand frozen in his tracks, not knowing what he can do. He hears an evil voice from inside the room.
“So, which of you will be willing to tell me the truth about Clark? Someone better start talking, or one by one, each of you will die, leaving Clark with no one left to love on this Earth. How about you, Lana?”
“I will never betray Clark. Kill me if you must, but I will not tell you a damn thing.”
“Too bad,” says the dark voice.
A shot rings out.
Clark is horrified to see a bullet speed toward Lana and strike her in the chest. Her head sags as she breathes her last.
Clark yells out,”Noooooooooooo! Noooooooooooo! Lana! Noooooooooo!”
Clark suddenly bolts upright in the hospital bed, in the hallway. Looking around, he notices that the hall is still full of patients and doctors, and the incident at the warehouse was just a nightmare. He suddenly wonders if his parents have been affected as well.
Clark: Mom.
Clark gets up, walking down the hall quickly, trying to see if his parents are among the unconscious patients. Dr. Scanlan sees Clark and follows him.
Scanlan: [Surprised.] Clark?
Clark: I need to find my parents! Where are they?
Scanlan: They haven’t been admitted. Clark, you’re the first patient to come out of this. I think you’d better sit down.
Clark: No, I feel fine.
Scanlan: Clark--
Before Dr. Scanlan can say anymore, Clark runs out of the hallway.
*****
Clark super speeds home. He walks in through the kitchen door finding Jonathan unconscious on the floor with broken glass strewn everywhere.
Clark: Dad?
Clark kneels down next to Jonathan, touching his shoulder, but Jonathan does not respond. Clark searches more, looking for his Mom. The phone is off the hook, beeping. He follows the sound and soon finds Martha unconscious on the kitchen floor with the phone and a broken lamp lying beside her.
Clark: Mom! [He goes to her.] Mom?
He carefully turns her onto her back but her body remains limp. Clark super speeds out of the room.
*****
At LuthorCorp, Lex is talking on his cell phone in an office outside a quarantined patient room. Doctors in protective suits are administering to the patients. Dr. Ford is in the office with Lex and is already very anxious. Clark runs into the office.
Clark: Lex!
Lex: [On the phone.] I’ll keep you updated. [He hangs up his phone.]
Clark: You’re running out of time.
Ford: How did you get past security?
Lex: It’s okay. [To Clark.] I don’t understand. I left you in the hospital. What happened?
Clark: My parents are in there now.
Lex: [Taking a moment to digest the news.] Clark--
Clark: Lana, Chloe, Jason-- they’re all gonna die if you don’t do something!
Lex: What do you suggest I do?
Clark thinks about it, noticing the vials of liquid in the incubator. Then he thinks of something.
Clark: Use me.
Ford looks at Lex, confused.
Clark: I want you to use me. Look, I came out of this panic state. Maybe there’s something in me that can help. I’ll give you whatever samples you need.
Ford: Well, even if your immune system could offer us some sort of insight, I don’t know, those kind of tests take months, years to analyze. No, no.
Lex walks toward the incubator holding his hand to his head, thinking. There are beads of sweat forming all over his scalp. He knows he has been exposed. He turns back to Clark.
Lex: He’s right, Clark. We have a new antidote that we can test in a few hours.
Clark: There’s no time.
Lex: The antidote needs to be heated to 1000 degrees Kelvin until it clears. Otherwise, it’s useless.
Ford: [To Lex.] This time we’re gonna test it first.
Lex: People’s lives are at stake. We’re running out of time!
Ford: [Pointing to the window.] Look at them, Mr. Luthor. Look at them. Are you going to point the finger and decide which one of them is going to take the potentially lethal injection? Whoever it is, you could be killing them.
Lex goes to the window and looks through it, trying to make a decision. When he and Ford have their backs to Clark, Clark shoots his heat vision at the incubator, raising the temperature to 1000 degrees in seconds. The solution in the vials clarifies and the incubator beeps. Both Lex and Ford turn to look at the incubator in disbelief.
Then Lex walks toward the counter, grabs an injection gun, opens the incubator, and pulls out a vial. Sticking it into the top of the gun, Lex pokes the needle into his own wrist and injects himself with the antidote. Clark’s mouth drops open in shock.
Ford: Mr. Luthor, no!
*****
Lex jolts awake in the office at LuthorCorp. He sees Clark kneeling next to him.
Lex: [Breathless.] Clark?
Ford: Thank God it worked. I’m gonna get the antidote to the hospital.
Clark: Lex, you’re gonna be okay.
Clark smiles at Lex proudly.
*****
Clark, Martha, and Jonathan enter their house. Jonathan hangs up his coat, as Martha and Clark walk toward the kitchen.
Martha: [sighing, relieved.] Home.
Jonathan joins them. Clark stops when he gets to the kitchen entrance and looks around uncomfortably.
Jonathan: Clark. Is something bothering you, son?
Clark: No, it’ll just take a few days before I can walk into that room... and not get a flash of the two of you unconscious on the floor.
Martha: Well, thanks for cleaning everything up.
Clark: Yeah, somebody really did a number on that lamp back there. Must’ve been some nightmare you had.
Jonathan: And we woke up to find it had almost come true.
Martha: Clark, you walked right into Lex’s office and almost gave up your secret. Who knows what they would’ve done to you?
Jonathan takes a pitcher from the refrigerator and three glasses from the cabinet.
Clark: I didn’t see any other choice. You know, I’m beginning to think that sometimes protecting the lives of those I love outweighs protecting my secret.
Jonathan and Martha stare dumbfounded at Clark as he makes this declaration.
*****
Lana is in her apartment, when someone knocks on her door. She opens it to see Jason standing there.
Lana: (surprised) Jason. Um… Hi.
Jason: Don’t worry, Lana. I just came to say good-bye.
Lana: Good-bye? Where are you going?
Jason: I don’t know. But I’ve been different ever since I came to Smallville. I can’t stay here anymore. I resigned my coaching job. I have to move on. So I just came to say good-bye.
Lana stares at him, stunned at this sudden turn of events.
Jason: Lana, I just want to say one more thing. If ever a day comes when things don’t work out between you and Clark, I’d like it if you would call me. You know my cell number.
Lana nods slightly, not knowing how to respond.
Jason: Well, so long, Lana.
Lana: Good-bye Jason.
Jason gives Lana a quick kiss on the cheek, then turns and hurries down the stairs.
*****
Clark walks up the stairs toward Lana’s apartment. As he nears the top, he sees Jason kiss Lana on the cheek, then turn toward the stairs. Seeing Clark, Jason pauses briefly, then nods and continues past him down the stairs. Clark continues on toward Lana, still standing in the doorway.
Clark: Lana. Hey, what was that about?
Lana: Hey, Clark. (She gives him a quick kiss) Come on in and I’ll explain.
Lana sits down nervously on the sofa, and Clark joins her.
Lana: Jason came to say good-bye. He said he quit is job and he’s leaving Smallville. Said its time for him to move on.
Clark: Wow. Kind of sudden, isn’t it? I wonder what brought that on?
Lana: I’m not sure. Maybe it had something to do with whatever his greatest fear was. I have a feeling those nightmares might have a profound effect on all of us.
She looks down nervously, fidgeting with a ring on her finger as she exhales heavily.
Clark: Is something wrong, Lana? Is it the nightmare?
Lana nods, not looking at Clark.
Clark: Hey. (He reaches a hand out and lifts her chin gently, attempting to make eye contact with her.) Whatever it is, Lana, I’m here for you. I will always be here for you.
Lana: (finally meeting his gaze) That’s just it, Clark. I’m not so sure that that’s true.
Clark: (concerned) What are you talking about, Lana?
Lana: Clark, in my nightmare, I was strapped down in a chair, and someone was trying to get me to reveal your secret. (Tears begin to well up in her eyes as she recalls the nightmare again.) He said that - that if I didn’t tell him everything, he would lure you into a trap, and make me watch you die a slow and painful death from exposure to Kryptonite. (She wipes a few tears from her face) And somehow I knew - that even if I told him what he wanted to know, that your life may not be spared. And if it was, what kind of a life would it be?
Clark’s eyes are wide with fear and anguish as hears Lana tell her greatest fear. He instinctively slides his arms around her and draws her close. She buries her face in his shirt, her tears falling upon the soft flannel.
Clark: I’m so sorry, Lana. I never meant to burden you, or endanger you, by telling you my secrets. That’s why I resisted for so long. Maybe I never should have told you.
Lana: No, Clark. Don’t say that. (She lifts her head to look into his eyes) Don’t ever say that. I would never want to go back to the way things were between us before. We were both so very lonely, Clark. (She puts her hand gently on his face, caressing it gently) I need you, Clark. I love you so much. I’m just afraid that I’ll be used as bait for them to get to you, Clark. And I’m so afraid to lose you. I don’t think I could live without you. (She leans over to meet his lips with hers.)
Clark embraces her again, holding her close for a long moment. Eventualy, he releases her, stands up and walks across the room, staring off into nothing. He sighs deeply. Lana stands up and walks closer to him.
Lana: I’m sorry, Clark. I didn’t mean to worry you. Maybe I shouldn’t have told you…
Clark: No, Lana. I’m glad you did. It’s just - well, my nightmare was very similar to yours, Lana. (He takes another deep breath, and exhales.) Someone had kidnapped everyone I love: you, my parents, Pete, Chloe. And he was trying to get you all to tell him about me. He had kryptonite all over the room, so I couldn’t rescue you. And when you refused to talk, Lana , he - he…..
Clark gets emotional as he remembers the sound of that gun. Tears escape down his cheeks, and he swallows hard to fight them back. Lana waits for him to continue, grasping his arm in both of her hands.
Clark: He killed you, Lana…. That bas***d killed you!
He pulls Lana into his arms, holding her tightly against his chest.
Clark: (sobbing) I couldn’t save you, Lana. With all my abilities, I was powerless to save you.
They stand there for what seems an eternity, clinging to each other and crying. Finally, Lana speaks.
Lana: Clark, I guess we just have to be extremely careful about not letting anyone get a clue about your weakness - especially Lex.
Clark: Lex? Was it Lex in your nightmare, Lana?
Lana nods.
Lana: You’ve warned me about him, Clark. About how he’d been investigating you and all. And you told me about Naman & Segeeth, & how you thought it was Lex. I think you’re right, Clark. We have to be very wary of Lex.
Clark: I’ve always hoped that I could influence him, help him to change. But I’m beginning to think that that was naiveté on my part. Occasionally I see a glimmer of hope - like when he tested that serum on himself. But I still can’t trust him.
Clark and Lana are silent for a few moments. Clark seems to be thinking hard about something.
Clark: Listen, Lana. (Clark grasps her shoulders and looks seriously into her eyes.) This is important to me. (Lana holds his gaze.) If, ever you are in a situation where you have to choose between revealing my secret or losing your life, I want you to save your life.
Lana: (protesting) Clark…
Clark: No, Lana. Promise me that you will never put protecting my secret above your life. Promise me, Lana. Please.
He looks pleadingly into her eyes. She comprehends that he couldn’t live with himself if she dies to protect his secret.
Lana: (nodding slowly) I promise, Clark. But I want to protect your life too. So promise me, Clark, that you will always be on the lookout for traps involving the use of kryptonite. Promise me that you will never rush blindly in to save me, without checking for kryptonite first.
He comprehends that her fear of losing him is just as strong as his fear of losing her.
Clark: I promise, Lana. I will be as careful as I can be.
They look lovingly into each other’s eyes for a long moment, before he draws her in for a lingering kiss. She clings to him tightly. His large arms hold her securely. The kiss intensifies, passion surging in each of them, neither wanting to ever let go of the other. Finally, they break the kiss reluctantly, looking again into each other’s eyes, deeply.
Clark: (whispering huskily) I love you, Lana.
Lana: (softly) I love you, Clark.
Clark: Stay safe, for me?
She nods.
Lana: I’ll do my best. You too?
He nods, smiling.
Clark: You bet.
They smile lovingly into one another’s eyes, then seal their promise with another tender kiss.

The next day, Chloe is pacing in the Torch office, her cell phone to her ear, looking stressed. As Clark comes in, she hangs up the phone.
Chloe: [pacing around the desk, and talking a mile a minute] I can’t get a statement from LuthorCorp. I mean, a huge chemical explosion causes everybody to relive their worst nightmares? What is that?! And then there’s no sign of a lawsuit. I mean, it’s like this whole thing is just being completely forgotten about!
Clark stares at her with a stunned expression.
Chloe: What! What?! What?
Clark: [Putting down his bookbag.] I’ve seen you worked up before, but this is more than amped, even for you.
Chloe: [Calming down slghtly.] I guess it’s just displaced anxiety.
Clark looks at her inquisitively, waiting for her to continue.
Chloe: I found my mom, Clark.
Clark looks up at Chloe surprised and walks around the desk toward her.
Clark: Wow! That’s uh.. Chloe, that’s great!
Chloe: Yeah, I mean I put my feelers out for years, and something, three months ago, finally came through, so... um, it turns out she’s, um... not exactly MIA, so to speak. [She starts to cry.] She’s in a mental institution.
Clark: (sighs heavily) I’m sorry.
Chloe: [Getting more emotional, wiping away a few tears.] The real kicker is it’s hereditary.
Clark: [Walking quickly over to Chloe and taking her shoulders in his hands] Listen, hey. [He looks at her seriously, trying to keep eye contact with her.] If there’s one thing that I’ve learned it’s that you’re not destined to follow in your parents footsteps, all right?
Chloe nods wiping her eyes.
Chloe: Yeah, thanks. [She pulls away.] So, popular question of the day. What is Clark Kent’s worst nightmare?
Clark thinks quickly back to his vision revealed by Cassandra, freshman year, knowing he cannot tell Chloe his latest fear.
Clark: When I woke up. [He sits on the desk.] Everyone that I knew was gone. I was completely alone.
Chloe: I wish I could say that I’ll always be there for you, but somehow I get the feeling that may not be a promise I can keep.
She walks over and sits next to Clark on the desk.
Chloe: You were the only one who came out of it, Clark, and I don’t think it’s because you’ve been taking your vitamins.
Clark: Chloe--
Chloe: Look, you know what? You don’t have to tell me. I know that I gave you my word that I was going to stop all this prying but... In these last few months, I really got a taste of what it was like to keep my mom’s secret, and I’ve never felt more alone.
Clark: [Nodding thoughtfully.] It’s weird when people think they’re so close to you but have no idea what you’re really going through.
Chloe: Yeah. I’d hate to live my whole life like this. But after ‘fessing up, it’s amazing how quickly that feeling of loneliness disappears. I mean, if you can’t tell your best friend, who can you tell? Right, Clark?
Clark looks at Chloe for a long moment, not sure what to say or do. Chloe returns his gaze steadily, with a pleading look in her eyes. Clark is unwilling to endanger anyone else by letting them in on his secret. He just stares back at her, not confessing a thing.

Clark and Lana getting closer and closer. Now sharing their biggest fears. Oh yeah! Bring on Unsafe and Pariah. That wacked-out woman, Alicia, is coming back to town. She really won't like it when she sees Clark is back with the lovely Miss Lana Lang.

Well, next episode here will be Unsafe - but not till after I do Clana Journals: Unsafe. The two will be very different. In Clana Journals, we get the actual Smallville Version of Clark & Alicia, throwing in journals from Clark & Lana. In the Alternate version, Clark & Lana are already together - so if Alicia returns, what might happen if she pulls RedK on Clark? I guarantee he will not marry her.
Before writing either of those, I may throw in a few more chapters of Hidden. I'll see what happens next time I have time to write.

If Alicia pulls red-K on Clark, he go after LANA!!!
Then keeping their promise will be all up to Lana. (I hope she's got a piece of green-K to use on him so she can get him off the red-K.)

Yeah, Lionel got released from prison. That's the gist of it. You can assume that that happened here too. It just seemed odd to throw in a few sentences about that, so I deleted it.

Just for the record, SVsleuth, I think you can afford to be more detailed in certain areas--like with the places where the episode doesn't seem to change as much. You needn't be afraid to elaborate--detail is part of good storytelling. Besides, it helps to keep the story flowing pretty smoothly--at least in my opinion.
In any case, PPS!

Alternate Clana: UNSAFE - PART 1
Music is playing at the Talon. A lot of students are there, mingling, talking, and having a good time. Clark is sitting alone at a small round table, trying to do homework in the midst of it all. He leans back & sighs, a bit frustrated, taking a gulp of his coffee. Lana walks up and joins him.
Lana: Hey.
Clark: (smiling widely) Hey!
Lana leans down and kisses him softly. Clark reaches a hand behind her neck, pulling her in for several more kisses before allowing her to sit down.
Lana: (taking a seat) Wow! What was that for?
Clark: I’m just happy to see you. You are a very welcome break from this trig homework.
Two attractive girls approach them, a blond and a brunette.
Brunette: Hey, Clark. What are you doing? Hi, Lana.
The two girls join Clark and Lana at the table.
Clark: Hey, um, I’m just trying to figure out some of this trig homework.
Blonde: What for? Don’t you already have a scholarship to Met U?
Clark: (Smiling.) Yes, for football. But they’re still gonna be looking at my final GPA.
Brunette: Well, when you’re done playing with your protractor, there’s a party over at Katie’s house.
Blonde: Her parents have a hot tub.
Clark exchanges a look with Lana.
Clark: Thanks for the invite. We’ll think about it.
Brunette: Well, okay. Hope to see you later .
The two girls stand up to leave. The Brunette leans down to whisper in Clark’s ear
Brunette: especially you, Clark.
She smiles at him, ignoring Lana, and the two girls walk off to another group of students.
Lana: Was she hitting on you, Clark? Right in front of me? I’ll have her know that there is no way on earth she is ever getting in a hot tub with you.
Clark: You’re right. There’s only one girl I’d want in the hot tub with me.
Their eyes meet and speak volumes. Lana’s heart quickens and Clark blinks his eyes as that image enters their minds. Clark stands up quickly.
Clark: I think I’ll get us some refills.
Clark walks over to the bar. Martha is standing behind the bar when Clark gets there. He sits down on a stool, places the mugs on the counter, and rubs his eyes.
Martha: What’s wrong, Clark?
Clark: Um… nothing, Mom. Everything’s great.
Clark turns to look at Lana, a smile spreading across his face. He blinks and rubs his eyes again, turning his attention back to Martha. She refills the mugs with coffee.
Martha: Clark. Are you sure you’re okay? (lowering her voice) We don’t need another fire in the Talon. (She looks at him knowingly.)
Clark: (protesting, embarrassed) Mom --
Martha: Just be careful, Clark.
Clark: I’ll try. (glancing back toward Lana) She doesn’t make it easy, though.
Clark gets up and carries the two mugs back to the table.
Lana: So, what do you think, Clark? (She reaches for his hand, clasping it in hers) Shall we go to that party? Or maybe just hang out by ourselves somewhere - my apartment, your loft?
Clark meets Lana’s gaze. His heart begins to race as again the image of the two of them in a hot tub enters his mind. The thought of being alone at her apartment or in his loft has a similar effect on him.
Clark: Lana… (he exhales heavily) Lana, I’m not sure I can handle any of those options tonight… without starting a fire, that is.
Lana: (realizing) Oh….
She squeezes his hand, then lifts it to her lips, kissing his fingers.
Lana: You’re right. Some days it is really difficult to be alone with you. Okay, well, maybe we should just skip hanging out tonight, after we leave here. I have a new book I’ve been wanting to read, so I can spend the evening doing that for a change. What about you? What will you do?
Clark: I don’t know. Probably hang out in the loft, finish my homework, maybe watch a movie with my Dad. We used to do that often.
Lana: Sounds nice, Clark.
They gaze again into each other’s eyes, as Clark gives Lana’s hand a squeeze. Clark leans over to whisper in Lana’s ear.
Clark: I’m sure the hot tub would be nicer.
Lana: Clark! (She whispers back into his ear) Are you sure there’s no Red K around here?
Clark: (still whispering) I’m certain. This is all Clark Kent - not a trace of Kal. It’s just you, Lana. You have a amazing effect on me.
Lana: (whispering back) Well, you’d better add a cold shower to your evening’s plans - that is, if that even works on Kryptonians.
Clark: (with a grin) I’ll let you know.
*****
Clark walks slowly up the stairs to a dimly lit loft. He carries his backpack on one shoulder, a textbook in one hand, and his athletic jacket in the other hand. Walking to his desk he tosses the jacket down on the desk and dumps his book bag on top of it.
He takes his pen out of the book, drops the book onto the desk, and begins to twist the pen open and closed pensively. He hears a creak in the floor boards behind him, and his eyes become alert. A female voice comes out of the darkness behind him.
Voice: So what’s Smallville’s star quarterback doing up here alone on a Saturday night?
Clark stares ahead, recognizing the voice.
Clark: Alicia.
He turns around to face Alicia Baker.
Alicia: (nervously) I’m surprised you remember my name.
Clark: How could I forget?
She looks at him with a glimmer of hope. He takes a few nervous steps toward her. He speaks with a hint of anger in his voice.
Clark: You tried to kill me. And Lana. I’d ask how you escaped, but I guess that’s pretty obvious.
Alicia: I didn’t escape. They let me out. The doctors say I’m cured.
Clark: (Nodding skeptically) You could’ve called instead of teleporting into my loft.
Alicia: Actually, I borrowed my mom’s car and I drove.
Alicia smiles and holds up her left arm showing Clark a dark metal bracelet around her wrist.
Alicia: It’s a little something my doctor came up with. Trace amounts of lead are released into my blood stream, and it keeps me from using my powers.
She looks at him hopefully.
Clark: (Slightly surprised, but doubtful.) I’m glad they think you’re better. But it doesn’t change what happened between us.
Alicia: (seriously) I know that, Clark. I just wanted to tell you how sorry I am for everything I put you through. (Walking toward him, her eyes on his.) You’re the last person on earth that I ever wanted to hurt.
Clark nods and turns away to the side, lowering his eyes. Alicia walks around to face him, trying to get him to make eye contact again.
Alicia: (breaking into a smile) But you didn’t answer my question. (He looks up at her.) Why are you up here alone on a Saturday night?
Clark turns again, looking away for a moment before looking at her again as he answers.
Clark: (tersely) I have my reasons - which are actually none of your business.
Alicia: Is it because of your secret? (Clark looks nervous. Alicia notices.) Don’t worry. I didn’t tell anyone. I promised you that I wouldn’t.
Clark: No, it’s not that.
Alicia: (interrupting) The whole time that I was in Belle Reve, just the thought that there was someone out there like me, who knew what it was like to be different, gave me hope. In my darkest moment, you gave me hope, Clark.
This response makes Clark noticeably uncomfortable. He looks at her for a few moments wondering if she is still obsessed with him and if she could still be dangerous to him - or to Lana. After all, she had tried to kill both of them, and she knew his weakness to kryptonite. He looks away, & she turns toward the stairs. Clark watches her with concern as she starts down the stairs.
Alicia: (looking back for a moment) Bye.
Clark stares after her uncertainly.
*****
Lana is curled up on her bed with her new book, a cup of coffee in her hand. She tries to read, but her thoughts keep drifting….to Clark. It would be amazing - cuddling with Clark in a hot tub…. Just the thought of him makes my heart race. Man, am I a basket case. He’s not even here & I’m getting worked up. Clark, do you know what you do to me?
Lana’s thoughts are interrupted by the ringing of her telephone. Lana snaps out of her reverie and reaches quickly for the phone, recognizing Clark’s special ring tone.
Lana: Hey, Clark!
Clark: Hey, beautiful. Enjoying your book?
Lana: Yeah - well, actually, I’m still on the first page. My thoughts keep distracting me.
Clark: And what thoughts would those be?
Lana: Oh, thoughts of a certain hot farm boy - in a hot tub…
Clark: Lana! - Geez! I finally thought I had succeeded in getting those thoughts out of my head….
Lana: Sorry - Its just… Clark, I can’t begin to explain what kind of effect you have on me. I am seriously struggling whenever we are together. There’s this constant debate between my emotions and my conscience. My resolve to hold out for that “dream” is weakened whenever I look into your eyes. More & more & don’t want to wait, Clark. I…
Clark: Lana, stop. Please, stop talking like that. I am committed to protecting your dream - and mine. It will be an awesome wedding night, Lana. I’ve promised myself that I won’t spoil that for you - for us. I don’t want anyone but you, Lana. But we should wait for the right time - when we have truly made a commitment to each other.
Lana: Is that a proposal, Clark?
Clark: Lana, you know I want to marry you. But, no, that’s not an official proposal. That will have to wait until the time is right. And when it is, I guarantee, I won’t propose over the telephone. I can think of a whole lot of ways that are much more romantic.
Lana: (mischievously) Like in a hot tub?
Clark: Lana!
Lana: (quickly) I’m sorry, I’m sorry, Clark. I’m having a hard time letting that image go.
Clark: Well, thanks to you, so am I. Listen, Lana, there’s something else I called to tell you about.
Lana notices a change in the tone of his voice.
Lana: What is it, Clark? Is something wrong?
Clark: Well, Lana, do you remember Alicia Baker?
Lana: Of course. How could I forget her? She tried to kill me - and you. It’s a good thing she’s safely away in Belle Reve.
Clark: Well, that’s just the thing, Lana. She’s not. Not anymore. They let her out.
Lana: What? They let her out? Why would they do that? How do you know this, Clark?
Clark: She showed up here tonight. She claims they released her - that she is better. She’s wearing some sort of lead bracelet that she claims keeps her from teleporting.
Lana: But, Clark, she was obsessed with you. Is she over that? If she is, then why did she come first thing to see you?
Clark: Good point, Lana. I’m not sure if she’s telling the truth. I’m going to have to investigate. Meanwhile, I want you to be very careful. I didn’t tell her that we are together. I figured no sense risking stirring up her jealousy. Keep your phone on you at all times - just in case she “pops” in on you unexpectedly. If she does, you press the speed dial button to call me, and I’ll be there in an instant, okay?
Lana: Good idea, Clark. I’ll do that.
Clark: This really makes me nervous, Lana. If she hurts you again, I…
Lana: Don’t worry, Clark. I’ll be fine. After all, I have you watching out for me, right?
Clark: Right. But she knows my weakness, Lana, and that could make me powerless to help you.
Lana: Don’t worry, Clark. I’m sure everything will be fine. You never know; maybe we won’t even see her again.
Clark: I wish you were right. But I have a feeling that’s not the case. Just be careful, Lana. I love you.
Lana: I love you, too, Clark. See you tomorrow.
Clark: Yeah. Tomorrow. Good-night, Lana. Pleasant dreams.
Lana: Dreams? Let’s see… You in a hot tub…and…
Clark: Lana!
Lana laughs.
Lana: Oh, alright. I’ll try to be good. Good-night, Clark.
Clark: Good-night, Lana.
Clark smiles, shaking his head as he hangs up the phone and heads back to the house for the night.

Alternate Clana: UNSAFE - Part 2
The next morning, Jonathan and Clark enter the kitchen as Martha pours orange juice and sets out breakfast.
Jonathan: (disbelieving) So they just let Alicia teleport out of Belle Reve.
Clark: No, they gave her some sort of lead bracelet that she claims stops her from using her powers.
Martha: Her powers aren’t the only thing that made her dangerous, Clark. She’s obsessed with you.
Jonathan: (Sitting down at the table.) And she knows your secret.
Clark: I know. That’s what worries me. I’m not sure she is telling me the truth. And if she is cured, then why did she come first thing to see me when she got out? If she’s still obsessed with me, then Lana could be in danger again as well - that’s what worries me the most.
Clark gets up from the table, having barely eaten anything. He takes another bite of toast, and downs a few gulps of orange juice.
Clark: Until I find out the truth about what is going on with Alicia, I’d feel much better if I don’t let Lana out of my sight. I’ll never forget the day Alicia tried to kill Lana - and me. I can’t let that happen again.
Jonathan: Just be careful, Clark. Remember to be on guard against Kryptonite.
Clark nods and jogs out to the truck, soon heading off to see Lana.
*****
Clark and Lana enter the Torch office. Chloe is there, working at her computer.
Chloe: Hey, Clark. Hey, Lana. I got your message, Clark. Alicia Baker really had the guts to just walk into your loft and try to rekindle a friendship? Even after attempting to kill you and Lana? The girl must be crazy.
Clark: So, Chloe, do you think you can find any files on her case from Belle Reve?
Chloe: Well, let’s see.
Chloe starts typing away on the computer for several minutes, as Clark & Lana look on.
Finally, Chloe pulls up a file on Alicia.
Chloe: Damn, I’m good. All right, Alicia Baker. “Suffering from a histrionic personality disorder causing emotional instability resulting in psychotic episodes.” Yeah, that’s our girl.
Chloe pulls up another page with a picture of William McBride. Clark sees it from a distance as he leans against a wall behind Chloe.
Clark: Who’s that guy?
Chloe: It’s Alicia’s psychiatrist, Dr. William McBride. Yeah, I’ve heard of him. He graduated from Harvard in two years with more degrees than a thermometer.
Clark walks over toward Chloe and leans toward the screen, looking as Chloe skims the page. Lana also tries to see the screen over Chloe’s shoulder.
Clark: What’s he say about Alicia?
Chloe: (Reading the file.) Wow. Well, according to Dr. McBride, Alicia really is cured.
Chloe looks bit puzzled.
Clark: Really? Are you sure?
Clark looks over Chloe’s shoulder, reading the information for himself. He breathes a sigh of relief. He straightens up and walks slowly across the room, turning back to face Chloe & Lana.
Clark: Well, I hope he’s right. I hope she’s cured of her obsession with me, and will leave Lana and me alone.
Clark walks to Lana, takes her hands in his, and looks at her sincerely.
Clark: Maybe she really did just come by to apologize and that’s the last we’ll ever see of her.
Lana: I hope so. I sincerely hope so. (whispering for Clark's ears alone) It makes me nervous that she knows about some of your abilities, Clark - and your weakness. I hope she can be trusted to keep quiet about what she knows.
Clark: Don’t worry, Lana. I’m sure everything will be okay.
Clark enfolds Lana in his arms, hugging her reassuringly. Chloe rolls her eyes, shaking her head, smiling.
*****
Clark and Lana walk back to the truck and get in. Lana scoots to the middle to sit nearer to Clark. Clark smiles, slips his arm around her, and pulls her in for a lingering kiss.
Clark: Gosh, I sure missed you last night. It was really hard to decide to spend the evening apart on purpose.
Lana: It sure was. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t get my mind off of you. So what’s your plan for today? You said you had an idea of how we could spend the day together and not get ourselves into dangerous territory.
Clark: I do. (He smiles) I am taking you to the ice rink at the mall, where you can teach me to skate.
Lana: Really, Clark? I thought you said you would never be caught dead trying to skate in front of so many people.
Clark: Well, I have motivation now - an opportunity to spend the day with you. So I figured that you are worth a little embarrassment. I’d do anything to be with you, Lana.
Lana smiles and gives Clark a small kiss.
Lana: Let’s go, then.
Clark starts the engine and they head off in the direction of the mall.
*****
People are skating at at the ice rink. Three small boys speed past Clark, who is skating awkwardly, holding his arms out for balance. Lana comes up beside him, skating with ease.
Lana: Super powers can’t save you now, Clark Kent.
Clark: (Uneasy.) No, I’m good. I’m - I’m good.
Lana: Okay, come on.
Lana skates backwards in front of Clark. She takes his hands and pulls him along, coaching him.
Lana: Relax your knees. Just glide.
She skates back to his side, holding onto his hand and they continue to skate, side by side.
Lana: I’m really glad that you thought of this idea, Clark. This is really fun.
Clark: Well, I’m not so certain I’d call it fun yet. But at least I get to be with you.
Lana looks at Clark, smiling at him as she gives his hand a squeeze. Clark’s heart quickens in response to even such innocent gestures of affection. Losing his concentration Clark suddenly loses his balance and falls hard onto the ice, landing on his back, & causing Lana to fall too. She lands on top of him and they both laugh.
Lana: Good thing you’ve got buns of steel.
Clark caresses her face affectionately and looks into her eyes lovingly. Lana’s heart races as she feels Clark’s body beneath her. She lowers her lips toward his. He meets her lips eagerly, kissing her tenderly, several times before becoming aware that other skaters are staring at them. Lana realizes the same and quickly gets back on her feet, helping Clark up as well. Glancing around at the gawking eyes, their faces blush a deep red. Lana grabs his hand and leads him off of the ice toward the seating area. They find an out of the way table and sit down together. Their eyes meet and lock, passion still surging in each of them. Finally, Clark manages to say something.
Clark: Um… how about I get us something to drink?
Lana: Okay. I think I’d like some hot chocolate.
Clark: Okay. I’ll be right back.
Lana: I’m just gonna go freshen up first. I’ll meet you back here in a few minutes.
Clark: Okay.
*****
Lana enters the Ladies’ room. She opens her purse finding her brush, and uses the mirror as she brushes out her tangled hair and re-fastens her barrette into her hair. Glancing up into the mirror, her heart jumps. Her eyes meet (in the mirror) those of Alicia Baker, who is standing behind her. Lana freezes for a moment, then gathers up her courage, turning to face her.
Lana: Alicia. Clark told me you were released from Belle Reve. I’m glad they think you’re better.
Lana tries to move past Alicia toward the door, but Alicia blocks her path.
Alicia: Clark failed to inform me that you two are together. That was quite a spectacle you made out on the ice.
Lana: My relationship with Clark is actually none of your business, Alicia. What are you doing here, anyway? Spying on him?
Alicia: No, I just - -
Alicia can’t come up with a plausible explanation, as she realizes that following Clark is exactly what she had been doing ever since she got out of Belle Reve - I really didn’t intend to follow Clark. Why am I doing that? What if I’m really not better?
Lana: Please, Alicia. If you are really cured, just move on with your life - and leave Clark alone.
Lana pushes past Alicia successfully this time and quickly makes her way back to Clark.
*****
Alicia leaves the Ladies’ room, and looks around the ice rink. She notices Dr. McBride is there, apparently watching her. She makes her way up the stairs to where she had seen Dr. McBride. When she gets there, she doesn’t see him, but he walks up behind her.
McBride: Enjoying your freedom?
Alicia: (Startled.) Oh, Dr. McBride. What are you doing here?
McBride: Checking up on my favorite patient. (He takes her arm and looks at the bracelet.) This does more than just keep you in place, Alicia.
Alicia: You lojacked me?
McBride: I have to know where you are so that you don’t do anything to jeopardize your release. Like associating with Clark Kent.
Alicia: What I do with Clark is my own business.
McBride: Clark was the object of your obsession, Alicia. Your feelings for him are what precipitated your psychotic break. You really want to risk an incident like that again?
Alicia: But you said that I was better.
McBride: And I want you to stay that way. Perhaps more sessions together outside of the office would be beneficial. (Alicia looks at him noncommittally.) You are such a bright, beautiful young girl.
McBride touches her face and she pulls away slightly. He holds onto her hair gently.
McBride: It’d be a shame to see you end up back in Belle Reve. Stay away from Clark Kent before someone gets hurt.
He walks away leaving Alicia with a pained expression on her face.
*****
Lana walks quickly back to Clark who is now sitting on a bench inside the rink with two cups of hot chocolate. He smiles when he sees her.
Clark: There you are. I thought I’d lost you.
Lana: (Sitting beside him.) Oh, you’re not getting rid of me that easily.
She gives him a quick kiss, then takes her hot chocolate from him and tastes it.
Lana: Oh, I let it get cold.
Clark: I can fix that.
He takes the cup back and quickly shoots his heat vision into the cup until the hot chocolate is steaming again. Smiling, he hands it back to Lana.
Lana: (smiling warmly) Thanks.
Clark smiles and puts his arm around Lana. He finishes his own hot chocolate & sets the cup beside him on the bench.
Lana: Clark, Alicia is here.
Clark: What? Where?
He begins to look around the rink.
Lana: She kind of cornered me in the Ladies’ room. It seems she followed you here.
Clark: She followed me?
Lana: Clark, I’m afraid she’s just as obsessed with you as she ever was. She’s stalking you.
Clark: Stalking is a rather strong word, Lana.
Lana: Clark, you have to face facts - she’s obsessed with you, and she’s stalking you. You really need to be careful.
Clark looks at the worry on Lana’s face. He tightens his grip on her shoulder, and caresses her face with his other hand, gazing into her eyes.
Clark: Don’t worry, Lana. I’ll make sure she doesn’t hurt you again.
Lana: Clark, it’s you I’m worried about. She knows your weakness. That really worries me. I couldn’t bear it if anything ever happened to you.
Clark: Nothing’s going to happen to me, Lana. I’ll be careful. I promise.
He leans toward Lana and kisses her again, this time more fervently, lingering. When they break the kiss, they stare lovingly, longingly, into each other’s eyes, their hearts again racing, passion rising again within each of them. Clark sighs and pulls his eyes away from hers reluctantly.
Clark: Lana, how do you manage to do this to me, even at the ice rink? I wonder if we’ll ever be able to spend time really alone any more.
Lana: Clark, the effect is mutual. And there’s only one right way for us to resolve this problem we’re having. (Clark looks at her with raised eyebrows, questioning.) We could just get married.
Clark: Get married? Lana, you know I’d love that - but we can’t - not yet. We’re only teenagers. We haven’t even finished high school yet.
Lana: I know, Clark. But I just don’t know how we’re ever going to succeed in waiting for marriage to fully express how we feel. Clark, what I feel for you is so strong.
Clark: I know, Lana. I feel it too. Maybe it would help if we seek out other teens who struggle with the same thing, but have made a similar pledge. I think there is a group, called “True Love Waits” that meets at school once a month. Maybe we should try it out.
Lana: Well, I guess it can’t hurt, can it? It’s worth a try.
Clark: Okay, it’s a date, then, for their next meeting. I’ll find out when it is & let you know. Meanwhile, Lana, I’ll tell you again that I am committed to making your dream come true - your dream for your wedding night. And I will not spoil that for you. I pledge that to you, with all my love.
Lana: Thanks, Clark. I pledge the same to you. So let’s keep trying to help each other.
Clark nods and smiles, giving Lana’s hand a squeeze.
Clark: Ready to go?
Lana nods, and they prepare to return their skates and leave the ice rink.

Lana's going to need to remember that pledge when Kal comes out to play, 'cause he won't even be slowed down by Lana's dream.
Good thing she already knows about Red-K.

That was GREAT!!!!!!!:):DMuch better with Lana on top a Clark instead of Alicia (eww) It seems that Alicia still has some crazy stalker left in her. Glad Clark didn't make any rash decisions with Lana about marriage. I'm still pondering about what is going to happen with the Red K. Clark and Lana are so much in-love I...love it. I never knew they had clubs for that kinda stuff. PPMS!

Alt. CLANA: UNSAFE - Part 3
Alicia enters the Torch office at night and closes the door behind her, looking around cautiously. She begins rummaging through the drawers of a desk, looking for something. Not finding what she wants, she goes to the file cabinet in the corner of the room, yanks open the top two drawers and peeks inside. She then goes over to a second desk and searches the drawers there. Nothing.
Alicia then notices another set of drawers next to the wall and opens a drawer, finally finding what she was searching for - a small pink box. She opens the box and pulls out a Smallville High class ring with red kryptonite in place of a ruby. She sets the ring down on the desk and grabs a paperweight from the desk, using it to smash the ring. The piece of kryptonite is broken free from its setting. Alicia picks up the red kryptonite and looks at her find victoriously. Clark Kent will be mine.
*****
Clark is in his loft. He puts down a box full of birdhouses when Alicia runs up behind him and covers his eyes.
Alicia: (Giggling.) Guess who!
Clark removes her hands from his eyes and whirls around to face her, miffed.
Clark: Alicia. What are you doing here? I thought you said you were better. If you are, then why are you stalking me? I know you followed me to the ice rink.
Alicia: Stalking you, Clark? That’s rather harsh, don’t you think? I was just hoping that you had forgiven me - and that we could be - friends.
Clark: Alicia --
Alicia: I’m leaving for California, Clark. My bags are in the car. I need to get away from Dr. McBride.
Alicia looks frightened as she mentions Dr. McBride.
Clark: Alicia, what’s going on? Are you okay?
Alicia: Uh, Dr. McBride, my psychiatrist, he was at the ice rink. He said that if I keep trying to seeing you, he’s going to send me back to Belle Reve.
Clark: Well maybe he thinks that indicates that you’re not really better after all.
Alicia: Maybe. But I think it’s more than that. I think, in his mind, he thought that if I was out, he could be with me.
Clark: Well, you should go to the review board at Belle Reve and tell them about McBride.
Alicia: I can’t risk them revoking my probation.
Clark: What do you think they’re gonna do if you run?
Alicia: As long as I’m free, I don’t care. I wish you would come with me, Clark.
Clark: Alicia, that’s not ever going to happen. But running is not the answer. Trust me, I know.
Alicia: I wish I was as strong as you are. But... I’m not. Um... I made something for you in Belle Reve for when I got out.
She goes to her bag and reaches into it.
Clark: (protesting) Alicia...
Alicia: I guess now it’s a goodbye present.
She pulls a necklace out of the bag with several red stones beaded into it. She unclasps the necklace as she shows it to Clark.
Alicia: Would you mind wearing it, so I can see it on you just once before I go?
Alicia walks toward Clark and she fastens the necklace around his neck, then kisses him on the cheek. She then steps back to watch what happens.
Clark’s eyes begin to glow red and a mischievous smile forms on his lips.
*****
Lana walks up the stairs of the loft. As she reaches the top step, she observes Alicia giving Clark a kiss on the cheek, then stepping back from him. Clark’s back is toward Lana.
Lana: Clark, what is going on?
Turning to Alicia, Lana becomes angry.
Lana: Alicia, what are you doing here? I told you to leave Clark alone.
Hearing the voice of the woman he loves, Clark turns toward Lana.
Clark: Wow! Lana, are you ever a sight for sore eyes! You look beautiful, as always. Come here.
Before Lana can take a step, Clark moves toward her and has her wrapped in his arms. He begins to kiss her heavily. Lana’s heart begins to pound like never before. Wow! He’s never been so passionate!
Alicia’s eyes widen in horror at this unexpected turn of events. Shaken, she bolts for the stairs, tears streaming down her face as she makes her way down the stairs and out of the barn.
*****
In the loft, Clark continues to kiss Lana passionately. He lifts her into his arms, carrying her over to the sofa, laying her down upon it. He releases her lips long enough to rip his shirt off, then quickly lowers himself onto Lana, kissing her heavily.
Lana is breathless. I’ve wanted this for so long. But we really shouldn’t… The battle rages in Lana’s mind while her lips respond eagerly to his passionate kisses. She thrills at the sensation of her hands sliding over his bare skin. Suddenly, sparks seem to surge through her body as she feels Clark’s hands moving up her back, under her shirt. He unclasps her bra strap, and Lana’s conscience screams to her to stop him.
Lana: (Freeing her lips for a moment and somehow managing to sit up.) Clark, wait - wait. You're going too fast.
Clark: What? Why, Lana. Aren’t you tired of waiting? I know I am.
Clark begins to kiss her neck as he grasps her sides in his hands, pulling her toward him.
Lana: Clark! Wait! It’s just, well, remember our promise? We don’t have any kind of commitment or anything.
Clark: Oh, baby, no one is more committed to making this happen than me.
Clark pushes her onto her back and lays on top of her, continuing to kiss her.
Clark: You are the most beautiful, amazing, sexiest girl I’ve ever met, and there’s no way I’m letting you get away. Lana, I want you to be my wife.
Lana: (Whispering, shocked.) Are you serious, Clark?
Clark gets off of her and kneels down next to her on the floor, taking her hand.
Clark: We were meant to be together, Lana. We could be in Vegas tonight and wake up Mr. and Mrs. in the morning.
Lana’s mind is reeling. Clark wants to speed us off to Las Vegas to get married? Just this morning, he said we were too young to get married. What’s gotten into him?
Lana’s thoughts drift off pondering what a wedding to Clark might be like with him in this odd mood….
Lana and Clark are in a Vegas wedding chapel tackily decorated with lighted garlands, sparkling hearts, and gold cupids. She is dressed in a lacy white wedding gown, train stretched out on the floor behind her. Clark is handsome in a black tux, his hair disheveled as usual. They stand before a minister, an organ playing the Wedding March in the background.
Minister: We are gathered here to join this happy couple in holy matrimony. Marriage, as you know, is a union that should not be entered into lightly.
Clark: Yeah, yeah, skip to the good stuff, Pops.
Minister: Oh, all right, um... (He pulls a piece of paper out of his pocket.) Do you, Clark Kent, take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife?
Clark puts a ring on Lana’s finger.
Clark: Hell, yes.
Minister: And do you, Lana Lang, take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?
Lana: I do.
Minister: Well, you may kiss the--
Clark kisses Lana.
Minister: Oh, I see you’re already doing that. Well, by the power vested in me by the state of Nevada, I now pronounce you man and wife.
The woman playing the organ smiles. Clark picks up Lana and super speeds out of the chapel with her. The woman at the organ throws confetti as they pass by.
Lana: Clark, no, wait. This is crazy.
Clark: Lana, don’t you want to marry me?
Lana: Yes, Clark, of course I do. But not like this.
Clark: Lana, all this waiting is driving me insane. I have to be with you.
Clark slides his hands again under her shirt as he makes a move to get on top of her again. Lana’s will weakens as she thrills to his touch. They begin to kiss heavily again.
*****
Alicia gets into her car and starts the engine. She is fuming.
This is not the way it was supposed to happen. The red meteor rock was supposed to make him come to me - not Lana.
Alicia suddenly kills the engine and gets out of the car.
Well, maybe I can’t have Clark. But if I can’t have him, then neither can she.
Alicia walks angrily back into the barn and up the stairs. As she gets to the top, she sees Clark and Lana making out on the sofa, kissing heavily. Enraged, she walks quickly over to them, grabs the necklace and yanks it hard so that it breaks. The beads fall to the floor, bouncing off in all directions.
Clark’s eyes glow red for a moment then turn back to their normal color. Clark is shocked to find himself half naked on top of Lana. He sits up quickly, confused.
Clark: What happened? What are we doing, Lana?
Lana sits up, confused as well. She sees Alicia, and hears the beads bouncing onto the floor.
Lana: (softly, almost inaudibly) Red Kryptonite.
Clark: Red kry - (he turns on Alicia angrily) Alicia, what did you do to me?
Alicia: Okay, don’t be mad.
Clark: How did you know about the red meteor rocks?
Alicia: Because I know everything about you, Clark. We are meant to be together.
Clark: You drugged me.
Clark stands up, running his hands through his hair and looking around the room in disbelief.
Alicia: (Pleading) No, it’s not-- I just didn’t know what else to do because I couldn’t stay, and I couldn’t leave without you so I just... I just thought that if you could listen to your heart instead of your head for once, you would come with me.
Clark: Look, you don’t even see what you did was wrong! What’s the matter with you?
Clark picks up his shirt and begins to put it on.
Clark: (yelling) What makes you think I would ever go with you if I listened to my heart? Get it through your head, Alicia: I have never been in love with you. It’s always been Lana - only Lana. Now just get out, before I hurt you. Get out! I don’t ever want to see you again!
Alicia: I’m sorry, Clark. I never meant to hurt you - but somehow, that’s all I ever seem to succeed in doing. Good-bye, Clark.
Sobbing, Alicia descends the stairs rapidly.
Clark looks back to Lana, uncomfortably.
Clark: Lana, are you okay? I didn’t force you into anything - did I?
Lana: No, Clark. I’m fine.
Clark: Are you sure? (Clark sits down beside her.)
Lana: Clark. The full intensity of your passion is very hard to resist. I tried to hold on to our promise, Clark. But if Alicia hadn’t removed the red kryptonite…. I couldn’t have resisted your passion. My desires are so strong, Clark. And my willpower pales in comparison.
Clark: I am really sorry, Lana.
Lana: It’s okay. It wasn’t your fault.
Clark: Lana, that red kryptonite is still in here somewhere. Can you find it, and get rid of it? I’ll help with my x-ray vision, but I’m afraid to move from this spot in case I move too close to it again.
Lana: I’ll find it, Clark.
Lana gets up and begins to collect the beads from the floor. Clark uses his x-ray vision to help her locate the beads. Eventually they are all found. Lana stands across the room from Clark, with the beads in a small container.
Lana: Okay, so how do I know which of these beads is the red kryptonite? I mean, I want to be sure that the culprit has really been found.
Clark: Ok, well walk very slowly toward me with the container. If there is red kryptonite, it will begin to glow as it gets closer to me. Just don’t bring it too close, Lana.
Lana: Don’t worry. I’ve had as much of Red K Clark as I can stand for today - or maybe forever.
Lana walks slowly toward Clark with the container. When she gets within two feet of him, one of the stones begins to glow slightly. Lana takes a quick step backwards, and picks up the red kryptonite bead in her fingers.
Lana: Found it. Now what do I do with it?
Clark: Well, for now, put it in that lead box with the green kryptonite - you know, the one in my desk drawer. Later we’ll take a drive to Saunders Gorge, and you can throw it away there. That ought to be safe enough.
Lana: Ok.
Lana finds the lead box and places the red kryptonite bead inside with the green one. She then joins Clark on the sofa again, taking his hand in hers. She looks lovingly into his eyes.
Lana: Clark, a large part of me really wanted it to happen today. My conscience was fighting a losing battle. My heart still races at the memory of your touch.
Clark: Lana -
Lana: I know, Clark. I just want you to be aware of how this - experience - has affected me. I need you to know that - that it’s going to be harder than ever for me to stick to our promise. I need you to be strong for me, Clark.
Clark nods, then leans and kisses her gently on the forehead.
Clark: The memory of your touch makes me weak in the knees, Lana. It’s not going to be easy for either of us. But I promise you that I will respect your dream - our dream. I will do my best to help you protect it. I want you to know, Lana, that I love you with my entire being. I always will.
Clark pulls her into a gentle embrace, kissing her again on the forehead. They pull back, smiling into each other’s eyes, before indulging in one small and tender kiss, their lips meeting ever so briefly. Standing up together, they exit the loft hand in hand, their hearts united in mutual love and resolve.

Well, I was just asking another friend if he thought that should end Unsafe - or if I should add more about what becomes of Alicia, & Dr. McBride, & add more made up scenes between Lana & Clark, & maybe the Kents, before going on to Pariah. What do you think? Also, I'll have a lot of options for Pariah - like will Alicia still die? will Chloe still learn the secret? will Lana be attacked by that freak, or by Alicia? - lots of options out there for that one. Any thoughts?

I'm working on part 4. Here's a small teaser:
.......
Martha: Clark, why is your shirt on inside out? And why do you and Lana both look so - unkempt?
Clark and Lana look away from Martha, shifting restlessly on their feet. They glance at one another uncomfortably.
Jonathan: Clark? Answer your mother.
Clark: Um…. (he swallows hard) It’s complicated.
Lana stifles a laugh, as she hears Clark’s overused excuse. She bites her lip in an attempt to keep a straight face.
Jonathan: Clark, have you and Lana been - um - uh -
Clark: (interrupting) Yes - and no. I mean, it was Alicia - um -

Here's another update - Happy Valentine's Day!
*****
Alt. Clana: Unsafe - Part 4
As Jonathan exits the house, he sees Alicia’s car speeding away. He watches it go, then walks toward the barn. As he enters, Clark and Lana are just coming down the stairs from the loft, hand in hand. They stop abruptly when they encounter Jonathan.
Clark: Dad.
Jonathan: Clark, who was that speeding away from the house just now?
Clark and Lana exchange an uncomfortable look.
Clark: Um… it was Alicia, Dad.
Jonathan: Alicia. So she came back here again? Clark, are those doctors certain she is cured?
Clark: They claim she is cured. But I don’t see evidence of it. She followed me to the ice rink - then showed up here, trying to get me to go with her to California.
Jonathan: California! How in the world did she expect to convince you to do that?
Clark hesitates, exchanging a look with Lana, unsure if he wants to tell his Dad about what Alicia tried.
Jonathan: Clark. The truth, son. What did she do? She didn’t use green kryptonite on you again, did she?
Clark: No. She tried red this time.
Jonathan: What? How did she know about that?
Clark: I don’t know. Somehow she knew.
Just then, Martha enters the barn, joining them.
Martha: Dinner is almost ready - oh, hi, Lana. Will you join us for dinner tonight?
Lana: Thank you, Mrs. Kent. I’d love to.
Martha: Good.
Martha notices something.
I mean, it was Alicia - um -
Lana: It was the red kryptonite, Mr. Kent. Alicia put it on Clark without him realizing it. She was hoping its effect would get him to agree to go with her to California. But - uh - well -
Clark: Let’s just say the effects were quite different from what she expected - especially when Lana showed up.
Jonathan: And exactly what happened when Lana showed up?
Clark: Dad, I was on red kryptonite. I wasn’t exactly in control of my own actions.
He again looks at Lana nervously, not knowing what to say, wanting to protect her from embarrassment. Looking back to his parents, he sees that they aren’t going to drop it that easily.
Clark: Mom, Dad - you know I do stupid things when I’m on red k.
Martha: And this time that was…?
Clark: Um… well, I asked Lana to marry me - to go with me to Las Vegas and get married.
Jonathan: You did what?
Lana: We didn’t actually do it, Mr. Kent. He just asked.
Martha: Before or after turning his shirt inside out?
Clark and Lana both blush noticeably and look away.
Jonathan: So I take it there was some steamy action going on in the loft?
Lana turns bright red, mortified by this grilling. Clark notices.
Clark: Dad, we never really - Dad, can we talk about this later. I really don’t think this is fair to Lana. This whole thing has been really hard on her.
Lana: Excuse me.
Lana releases Clark’s hand and bolts out of the barn, across the driveway, and leans upon the fence. I have never been more embarrassed in all my life!
Clark: See? Dad, nothing really happened. I mean, we did some kissing, but - nothing major happened - okay? Excuse me, please. I need to talk to Lana.
Clark walks swiftly out of the barn and over to Lana. He puts a comforting hand on her shoulder.
Clark: You okay, Lana?
Lana: Clark, I have never been more embarrassed in all my life. I mean, your parents can excuse you - after all, you were on red kryptonite. But what must they think of me? I can’t blame red k for my lapse of judgment.
Clark: Hey. (He turns her gently toward him.) You tried to resist, Lana. But I kept insisting.
Lana: Clark, what if we had actually gone to Vegas - and gotten married - because of red kryptonite?
Clark smiles and places his hands on Lana’s shoulders. She looks up at him.
Clark: Then I’d be the luckiest teenager alive, because I’d have the best wife a man could ever dream of. Why’d you say no, anyway?
Lana looks away from his probing eyes, turning back toward the fence before giving her answer.
Lana: Well, Clark, I very much do wish to become your wife. (She glances at him for a moment, then away again.) But the thought of a Vegas wedding in one of those tacky little wedding chapels - well, it just didn’t live up to my idea of what I envision our wedding to be like. (She takes his hand in hers.) I guess that’s the same reason I tried to stop you from going too far in the loft. I mean - that’s just not how I envision it being - for our first time. (She finally looks up at him.) I want it to be beautiful, and tender, and passionate - all at the same time. I don’t envision it being a quick and furiously passionate moment. I want it to be an entire evening of love and tenderness - on our wedding night. The contrast between that ideal and what was about to happen caused me to try to stop you. And yet, I wanted so much to just be with you right then. Do you understand, Clark?
Clark: (nodding slightly) I understand perfectly, Lana. (He runs his hand gently across her cheek.) I envision it that way as well - when I’m not on red k. (he grins) And someday, I hope to make that day a reality for you, Lana.
Lana: Thanks, Clark.
Lana wraps her arms around Clark’s waist, resting her head upon his chest. His arms tighten about her small frame, as he kisses her on top of the head, then rests his chin upon her head. After several minutes, Lana lifts her head to look up at Clark. A few tears spill onto her cheeks as she does so.
Lana: I really do love you, Clark.
Clark smiles and brushes her tears away gently.
Clark: I love you with all my heart, Lana. I really do want you to be my wife - sooner rather than later. There’s no way we’re waiting until after four whole years of college. We’re going to have to find a way much sooner than that.
Lana: I’ve wanted nothing more in my entire life, Clark, than to be your wife. I know we’ll find a way.
Clark leans slowly toward Lana as she tips her face up to his. Their lips meet in a most tender kiss. His eyes find hers. Her heart quickens, the pace matching his, her eyes not able to turn from his. After several minutes, Clark finally tears his eyes away, swallows hard, and speaks huskily.
Clark: We’d better get to dinner.
Lana nods. He takes her hand in his and they walk slowly toward the house. She gives his hand a squeeze, glancing up at him with a nervous smile.
Clark: Everything will be okay, Lana.

I loved this update...so sweet. The Kents really need to cut these two a break.
Hope we can see what happens with Alicia and Dr. Mcbride. And where's Jason right now?

To answer your questions: I think here will be more, we might see Alicia & Dr. McBride, & Jason left Smallville a while ago (at the end of SCARE) & may never return.

May never return? Why do I get the feeling that's not going to be the case?

That makes sense. I wonder if Isobel will turn out to be truly gone after all?

Having been raked over the coals, Lana is now as red as a boiled lobster.
The Kents are more morally uptight than Cotton Mather's Puritans and Jerry Falwell's bunch combined...they ought to give the kids a break.

Alt. Clana: Unsafe - Part 5
Clark and Lana enter the house just as Lois comes down the stairs for dinner. She eyes them curiously.
Lois: What happened to the two of you, Smallville? Must have been some makeout session. You better scoot up the stairs to tidy up before your parents get a look at you.
Lois steps off the bottom step and motions Clark & Lana toward the stairs.
Clark: (tightly) Thanks.
Clark and Lana make their way up the stairs and into Clark’s room. Lana takes a look at herself in the mirror, then turns to survey Clark.
Lana: They’re right. We’re a mess.
Clark: (smiling)You’re a beautiful mess, then.
He gives Lana a gentle kiss.
You can clean up in the bathroom. I’ll change in here.
Lana goes into the bathroom and straightens her clothes as best she can. She actually has to remove her shirt in order to successfully re-fasten her bra-strap. She flushes as she recalls the sensation of Clark’s hands gliding over her skin. Lana opens her purse, finding her brush and make-up, and sets about making herself presentable.
Meanwhile, Clark removes his shirt, and selects a fresh one from the closet. How did I manage to put it on inside out without noticing? He chuckles to himself. I guess that’s what happens when my senses are overwhelmed with - Lana. He puts on the new shirt, then makes an attempt to comb his unruly hair. That will have to do.
Clark opens his door just as Lana exits the restroom. He looks up and is struck anew by her beauty.
Clark: Wow! Lana…
Lana: What?
Clark: Don’t you know? Lana - you’re beautiful. My heart nearly stopped when I saw you.
Lana: Clark, you must be exaggerating. All I did was make myself presentable.
Clark: Well, you are a lot more than “presentable.” You’re gorgeous.
Clark takes her hands in his, looking lovingly into her eyes. He leans down to kiss her briefly. Just then, Lois’ voice can be heard calling from the bottom of the stairs.
Lois: Okay, lovebirds, it’s time for dinner. So tear yourselves apart and get down here before the food gets cold.
Clark rolls his eyes, then takes Lana’s hand as they descend the stairs. Lana whispers to Clark on the way down.
Lana: Do you think your parents will drop it now, Clark? Because at the first sign of embarrassment, I’m out of here.
Clark: I’m sure they’re over it now, Lana. Don’t worry.
Clark and Lana join the Kents and Lois at the dinner table. Having Lois there makes it a bit awkward to clear the air. There is little conversation, except for “pass the rolls, please,” “thank you,” and other necessary talk. Mostly there is an uncomfortable silence. Finally, Lois realizes that there is a family matter to be resolved, and she is in the way.
Lois: I just remembered that I promised Chloe I’d be over there early tonight. So if you’ll excuse me…
Jonathan nods, and Lois stands up and makes her way out. As soon as she is gone, everyone breathes a sigh of relief.
Jonathan: Clark, Lana. I’m sorry we over-reacted earlier. I guess it’s just instinctive to be over-protective parents when you have such a “special” son.
Lana: Well, I’ll agree that Clark is definitely “special.”
Everyone smiles and the tension is broken. The meal continues with the conversation back to normal, both couples enjoying the wonderful sense of family they have recaptured.
*****
As the last of the dishes are being cleared from the table, there is a knock on the door. Clark goes to the door. Opening it, he is surprised to see Dr. McBride, recognizing him from his picture on the internet.
Clark: Dr. Mc Bride -
Clark steps out onto the porch, closing the door behind him.
McBride: (icily) Hello, Clark. It’s nice to finally meet you.
Clark: What’s that supposed to mean?
McBride: What is it about you, Mr. Kent?
Clark: What do you mean?
McBride: (angrily) I warned Alicia to stay away from you. She called me from her cell phone, crying hysterically, saying she might not be better. What is it about you that she cannot let go of? It seems she came to see you, and then she just completely broke down again. Do you know how hard I worked to heal Alicia’s fractured mind? And one meeting with you, and it’s all undone. My greatest achievement, my sweet Alicia - somehow ruined -- by you.
Clark: Dr. McBride, I can’t control what Alicia thinks or feels. I didn’t ask her to come back into my life. In fact, I’d prefer if she would stay out of it. I’m surprised she called you though. She seemed to be afraid of you and very eager to get away from you.
McBride: Afraid of me? That is not possible, Clark - unless you’ve somehow turned her against me.
Clark: What?
McBride: Do you know where she was going, Clark? She must have broken the bracelet off, so she could be anywhere. I should find her. She could be dangerous in her present state of mind.
Clark: She said something about going to California. In fact, she tried to get me to go with her. I refused, of course.
McBride: Why “of course,” Clark? Alicia is a very attractive girl. I’d think a lot of guys would jump at the chance to be with her.
Clark: Dr. McBride, I have a girlfriend -
McBride: Lana Lang?
Clark: Why do you know so much about me, Doctor?
McBride: Well, Clark, you are the object of Alicia’s obsession. I had to learn as much as I could about you in order to try to understand Alicia’s obsession. Oddly, Alicia isn’t the only patient in Belle Reve who has a history involving you. All the others are very bitter toward you, though. They blame you for their being put in Belle Reve. Many of them are obsessed with wanting to take revenge on you. Only Alicia, however, is obsessed with being with you. Do you know why that is Clark? Is there something about you that Alicia knows, that makes her feel such a strong connection to you?
Clark: I don’t know what you’re talking about, Dr. McBride.
McBride: I think you do. I think there is something “special” about you - and I think Alicia knows what it is.
Clark: That’s crazy.
McBride: Yeah? Well then why do half the patients in Belle Reve blame you for their being in there? Can you answer that, Mr. Kent? Maybe it’s not Alicia and my other patients that I should be studying. Maybe it’s you, Mr. Kent. You know, the sheriff’s files are filled with your unexplained appearances at violent crime scenes. The classic earmarks of a troubled teen. It shouldn’t be hard to convince the sheriff to send you to me - at Belle Reve. It seems that’s the only way I’m going to find answers - for a lot of my patients - but especially Alicia. I’ll do whatever it takes to get her back - but it seems that you are the biggest obstacle to that happening.
Suddenly Alicia teleports onto the porch steps. She evidently has been listening in on the conversation from nearby.
Alicia: Leave Clark alone. He didn’t do anything.
McBride: Alicia, thank God you’re alright!
Alicia ignores him and speaks to Clark.
Alicia: Clark, I know I made a huge mistake. You’re the only person who’s ever really known me.
McBride: (Hurt.) Alicia--
Alicia: (Still to Clark.) And when I’m with you, I feel normal. I’ll always love you for that.
McBride: No! I’m not gonna let him keep hurting you!
Alicia: You don’t know what you’re talking about!
McBride: This stops now!
Dr. McBride turns back to Clark, pulls out a gun, and pulls the trigger. As the bullet travels toward Clark, Alicia teleports in front of Clark, intercepting the bullet. It strikes her in the chest. She screams and collapses into Clark’s arms. He looks down at the large blood stain on her shirt, then lowers her carefully to the ground.
McBride: Alicia!
He runs to Alicia’s side, but Clark pushes him away with one hand, sending him flying through the rail of the porch. Clark looks down worriedly at Alicia, who is still in his arms.
Alicia: (Weak.) We should probably get to a hospital, don’t you think?
Clark: Alicia, why’d you do that? You know I could’ve caught that bullet.
Alicia: Because I promised you that I’d always protect your secret. I promised.
Her eyes close.
*****
Lana and the Kents come running from the house when they hear the gunshot.
Lana: Clark! (she sees Alicia, bleeding in Clark’s arms) What happened?
Clark: I’m okay, Lana. Alicia needs to get to the hospital though. I’ll explain later. Dad, please call the sheriff and have them come for Dr. McBride. I’ll stop at the station to give my statement later.
He motions toward McBride, who is unconscious in the flowerbed. Jonathan nods.
Clark lifts Alicia and superspeeds her to the hospital.
Lana: I’m going to the hospital, too.
Lana quickly retrieves her purse from the house, gets into her SUV, and drives to Smallville Medical Center. She finds Clark in the emergency room waiting room, standing by a window, staring out into the darkness.
Lana comes up behind him, placing a hand on his shoulder.
Lana: You okay?
Clark is relieved to hear her voice.
Clark: Lana.
He turns around. She slides her arms around him and holds him close.
Lana: Clark, what happened?
They take seats in the waiting area. Lana keeps Clark’s hand in hers as they talk.
Clark: He tried to shoot me, Lana. Alicia teleported in front of me & took the bullet - to protect my secret.
Lana: Wow. I guess that proves she is at least sincere about keeping her promise to keep it secret - no matter what other issues she has.
Clark: Yeah.
Lana: But that’s not what’s really on your mind, is it Clark? I can tell there’s something else eating at you. What is it, Clark? You know you can tell me anything.
Lana gives his hand a squeeze.
Clark: Lana, Pete knew my secret - he nearly died for it once, and then got beat up for it later. He had to move away - because of my secret. Alicia found out some of my abilities & my weaknesses. And though she never knew my greatest secret, she’s suffered because of what she knows - and she risked her own life to protect my secret. Sometimes I can’t help but think that it is a curse for someone to know my secret - that everyone who knows it is eventually put in danger because of it. And it really scares me, Lana. That nightmare I had - it haunts me. I am terrified of what might happen to you, Lana.
A tear drops from his eye onto the floor. Lana reaches a hand to his face, lifting his chin, so as to look into his eyes.
Lana: Hey. Clark.
She wipes another tear from his face, and presses her lips to his cheek. Her arms slide around his neck, and she pulls his head onto her shoulder. She whispers softly into his ear.
Lana: Don’t worry, Clark. I’m not in any danger. And no matter what happens, I will never regret knowing everything there is to know about you. And I will always treasure knowing you and loving you - and being known by you, and loved by you. No one can ever take that away from us. It remains with us always. Never forget that, Clark. Never forget that.
*****
Later, Clark enters Alicia’s hospital room. She is lying in the bed with her arm in a sling.
Clark: Hey.
Alicia: Hey.
Clark: How are you feeling?
Alicia: Like I just teleported in front of a bullet. (She laughs softly, then grimaces with pain.) Ow.
Clark sits in the chair next to the bed.
Clark: The doctor said you could be released tomorrow. You might want to hold the jokes until then.
Alicia: What happened to Dr. McBride?
Clark: They’re holding him for observation at Belle Reve for trying to kill one of his patients.
Alicia: I’m so sorry about what I did to you, Clark. I guess... I just didn’t want to lose the one good thing in my life.
Clark: I’m not so sure that drugging me was the best way to preserve our friendship.
Alicia doesn’t respond.
Clark: Get some rest, okay?
Clark stands up to go, turning toward the door.
Alicia: Clark? (Clark turns around.) I really am sorry. You know that, right?
Clark: Yeah, I know.
Clark leaves. Lana is waiting for him outside the room.
Lana: How is she?
Clark: She seems to be okay.
They walk toward the hospital exit as they talk.
Lana: What else, Clark?
Clark: (smiling) Nothing gets by you, does it?
Lana: Not when it concerns you. What’s wrong?
Clark: Alicia seemed - really sorry. Sorry for using the red k on me. She said she just didn’t want to lose the one good thing in her life.
Lana: You.
Clark nods.
Lana: I can’t blame her. I wouldn’t want to lose you either.
Clark and Lana have reached the parking lot by now, and are standing beside Lana’s SUV.
Clark: I kind of feel sorry for her. I mean, in spite of all the things she’s done to us - well, I just understand where she’s coming from. I understand what it’s like to be so alone - so isolated - so misunderstood. She desperately needs someone in her life who knows her, with her abilities and her faults, and still accepts her. She needs to be accepted and loved. I understand - because that’s what I needed too. And that‘s what you have given to me, Lana. (he takes her hands in his and looks into her eyes) For that I am eternally grateful. Thank you, Lana.
Lana: You’re welcome, Clark. I love being here for you.
She leans up and kisses him gently.
Lana: Need a ride home? I hear you left your truck behind when you arrived.
He grins widely.
Clark: Yeah. Yeah, I did.
Clark and Lana get into the SUV and Lana drives Clark to the police station to give his statement. Then they drive back to the Kent farm and fill the Kents in on the evening’s events, as they share pie and coffee. Before long, Jonathan and Martha say good night and head upstairs. Clark walks Lana out to her SUV. He takes her into his arms.
Clark: Lana, thanks for always being here for me - to support me no matter what.
Lana: I will always be here for you, for as long as I live. I promise you that. I love being here for you. I love being with you.
Clark smiles.
Clark: You’re the best, Lana.
Clark draws her close as his lips draw near to hers, soon capturing them in a lingering kiss, full of tenderness and passion and love - all at the same time.
