Alrite, here's a really short preview. I have a three day weekend so Ill try to finish the story before Tuesday. No promises tho.

Chapter 4

August 13, 2014

Clark awoke at the sound of his own voice. Tears that outlined his eyes served as reminders of the six hours when the world saw him at his worst. He could still feel her shivering slightly in his violently shaking arms. He remembered the blank, lifeless look on her angelic face. He could still see the sparks as the rocket lifted off, burning away on its path of destruction. This was his chance to stop it all from happening again.

The thought that the world was still there was overwhelming to the man who only just witnessed its utter destruction. But the world was indeed intact, and much as it has been for the past year. The blood on the floor still led outside towards Dave's body, and he still followed it to the bloody mess Lex left behind.

He carefully turned him over, trying not to shift the unforgiving bullet stuck somewhere deep inside his skull. "Dave, don't talk, just listen," Clark said as he knelt down, knees in the cool pool of red, "I know that Lana is at Level 33.1, and I know where that is, and I will save her, but I need your help with something. I need to know the elevator access code to get to the 33.1st floor."

"U-use the pass," his blank eyes whispered, fogged-up from the inside.

"Pass?" Clark had no idea what he was talking about.

"Use my pass, and then-," he paused to cough up a little blood, "and then type in 331." He cut himself off, grasping desperately for air to fill his lungs up one last time. "Clark," he whispered, as Clark was about to get up, "promise... me... you'll... save... her."

Clark took his hand, and held it tight. "I promise you, this time I will." Having heard the words he entreated the most, Dave gave up his vainful struggle. His last breath gave out, as his lungs collapsed around the motionless heart. Clark let his hand fall freely on the concrete floor, and stared, momentarily, into his lifeless eyes. The image made him sick, reminding him, once again, of Lana, the bullet, the silver blood, and everything else. He swept his hand gently across Dave's face, closing his eyelids on his way.

As wrong as this made him feel, Clark had to search Dave's body for the pass, and found it wrapped around his neck. The white, unmarked piece of plastic looked slightly familiar, but he dismissed the notion, knowing that he couldn't have possibly seen it anywhere before. He removed the pass from the dead man's neck, and hurried away towards Lex's hideout. In this case, knowing the future gave him an advantage. This time, he knew exactly what he had to do.

1) I'm gona miss episode 5-5 Thirst (probably full of clana:\)
2) My friend's dad works for this company that is selling tickets to raise money for this hospital. The tickets include a movie premiere and a cocktail party. At the cocktail party are gonna be actor supporting the fundraiser. Actor and actresses like: Adam Brody, Chad Michael Murray, Kirstie Alley, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc, Diego Luna(the guy from Terminal and Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights and famous mexican actor), Anahi (mexican actress from RBD) and last but definately not least....Tom Welling himself! and it's all happening october 29, when i leave for China October 22 and don't come back 'till November 1st!:( I almost had a heart attack when she told me the dam date!:mad:

Okay, I'm going to step in and be Grandmother Willow for a sec (and also use my experience as a statistics tutor). :D

Anyone else notice a coorelation between pushing 4Ever and Ketchup too hard for updates? Umm, to me, it appears that we've completely frightened them off the boards. And honestly, I hate it. They are two of my very favorite posters, and I'm sad :( I miss them.

I've been talking to both of them, and they are completely swimming underwater trying to keep up with their personal lives. The reason their fics are SO amazing is because they are both brilliant -- which also reflects in their school studies. They're taking crazy classes, as well as having a million other things to do.(KETCHUP IS BUILDING A ROBOT FOR A COMPETITION!! HOW COOL IS THAT?!?)

So, I think we should be encouraging to them -- hoping for an update, but not putting this much pressure on them. It seems lately that they can't even post on a thread without someone saying . . . hey, I see you!! UPDATE!

As a fanfic writer myself, I get knots in my stomach sometimes thinking about how everyone will be mad if I don't post. Fortunately, I don't have homework to do like these guys. And every other day, I'm able to put time into my story, but these guys don't have that.

I'm posting this on 4ever's thread too :) Again, let's be encouraging and let them know we're anticipating a great update, but let's make sure we aren't demanding updates. Or we might give them a serious case of writer's block, which is only doubled by pressure. Homework can be finished, but writer's block is a killer :( ((I'm not saying they have writer's block now, I'm saying I don't want to give it to them.))

Sry if y'all thot I updated, but I feel it is only fair to let you all know just what the heck I was doing. AJ pretty much summarized it in her post, for which I am very grateful. (AJ, you ate the best :)) Skwl was/is killing me and so is my work. The good thing is though that I should be able to post the conclusion Monday night. Chapter 4 - Finale, Part 1

August 13, 2014

Clark awoke at the sound of his own voice. Tears that outlined his eyes served as reminders of the six hours when the world saw him at his worst. He could still feel her shivering slightly in his violently shaking arms. He remembered the blank, lifeless look on her angelic face. He could still see the sparks as the rocket lifted off, burning away on its path of destruction. This was his chance to stop it all from happening again.

The thought that the world was still there was overwhelming to the man who only just witnessed its utter destruction. But the world was indeed intact, and much as it has been for the past year. The blood on the floor still led outside towards Dave's body, and he still followed it to the bloody mess Lex left behind.

He carefully turned him over, trying not to shift the unforgiving bullet stuck somewhere deep inside his skull. "Dave, don't talk, just listen," Clark said as he knelt down, knees in the cool pool of red, "I know that Lana is at Level 33.1, and I know where that is, and I will save her, but I need your help with something. I need to know the elevator access code to get to the 33.1st floor."

"U-use the pass," his blank eyes whispered, fogged-up from the inside.

"Pass?" Clark had no idea what he was talking about.

"Use my pass, and then-," he paused to cough up a little blood, "and then type in 331." He cut himself off, grasping desperately for air to fill his lungs up one last time. "Clark," he whispered, as Clark was about to get up, "promise... me... you'll... save... her."

Clark took his hand, and held it tight. "I promise you, this time I will." Having heard the words he entreated the most, Dave gave up his vainful struggle. His last breath gave out, as his lungs collapsed around the motionless heart. Clark let his hand fall freely on the concrete floor, and stared, momentarily, into his lifeless eyes. The image made him sick, reminding him, once again, of Lana, the bullet, the silver blood, and everything else. He swept his hand gently across Dave's face, closing his eyelids on his way.

As wrong as this made him feel, Clark had to search Dave's body for the pass, and found it wrapped around his neck. The white, unmarked piece of plastic looked slightly familiar, but he dismissed the notion, knowing that he couldn't have possibly seen it anywhere before. He removed the pass from the dead man's neck, and hurried away towards Lex's hideout. In this case, knowing the future gave him an advantage. This time, he knew exactly what he had to do.

Clark touched down next to the ominous remains of an old wooden windmill that once soared above the vast emptiness of Chandler's Field. The blades of grass cut softly into the rubber bottom of his leather boots; the gentle wind blew swirls inside his curled hair. His deep, blue eyes were mirror images of the pacific sky. Towering above him, it was an overseer of all events of past and present, a judge to judge his every action.

But he felt not in the least bit overwhelmed. With a slight sigh of relief - he felt certain that this time he would not fail - he took the first few steps towards the glittering sky rise of more than a hundred stories. Sun flowed gently down the streams of endless window panes, lighting his way. The grass slowly gave way to gravel, which in turn turned to concrete. The Humvees that stood on both sides smelled of wax and grease, brand new, with turrets never before fired. They were placed there, along with half a garrison of OEA marksmen, for the sole purpose of keeping order in case his meeting with their Boss got out of hand. Clark made a mental note of their presence, and walked right on, without flinching or bothering to look at their frightened expressions.

Hydrolics whooshed the front doors aside. Once again, he found himself in the lobby of the Luthor Corp. building. After a brief exchange of words with Ted, Clark sent him flying a good dozen yards and into a titanium-plated wall. His body came crashing down over a tall filing cabinet and onto the hard, tile floor. Ted let out a sigh, and passed out.

The metal detector lit up like a Christmas Tree when Clark stepped though it, but nothing happened. There was no one there to ask him to step though it again or to remove all metallic appliances. The whole building seemed empty, dried up, and dead. Except he knew it wasn't. Only thirty-three and a half stories up thousands were slowly being turned into something less than human. Lex's only slip up was, as it always has been, his self-assurance. As he made his way towards the elevator, Clark was determined to bring his rival's fatal flaw to his doorstep.

The doors closed before him, followed with a slight sensation of disorientation and lift. The tiny screen to the right of Clark glowed soft white numbers, changing slow at first, but slowly accelerating, as the elevator picked up speed. He did not hesitate, when the doors opened, at last, and the blinding light filled the confined space. Instead, he walked straight into the light. A short glance was all he had to offer to the countless, unfortunate ones in the field before him, for his mind was set on someone else.

Clark walked on towards the ominous office, but paused once he reached the door. This was it, there weren't going to be any third chances. Her life depended on him, and he had to do this right. Ideas that came flooding into his head were sketchy at best, when he came to a horrifying conclusion - he was playing a game, by Lex's rules, and he gambled with Lana's life.

The doors slid open, a gun fired, a miniature piece of metal pierced the invisible shroud of air, and landed a little less than an inch from Lex's head. It caught his attention. He looked up from the reports that piled up on his desk, and towards the door. Clark stood there, the cool handle of the Desert Eagle squeezed tightly in the palms of his hands, perfectly motionless.

"Right now," he said in a fearsome yet monotone voice, "would be a very bad time for you to try anything stupid. I won't miss again." It took every good memory, every good intention that he was ever taught to keep him from killing Lex that moment. "Get up, and put your hands up in the air."

His eyes drifted towards where Lana was sitting, tied up, duct tape over her mouth, and staring back at him, standing there in the doorway. The memories that never took place once more filled his head, catching him slightly off guard.

Lex did as he was told, and stood up. "You realize I have an entire regiment outside, just waiting to put some Kryptonite in you," he said, but Clark couldn't care less.

He still stood in the doorway, not daring to step this foot inside. It was mostly a measure of precaution, trying to keep his distance from the deadly Green wrapped around Lex's finger, but there was also something else. For a bleak moment, the one he was currently grabbing onto with all of his might, he felt in complete control of the situation. "You really aren't in a position to threaten me, Lex," he said in a calm, unfaltering voice, "hold up your right hand."

The villain obeyed the order without excessive hesitation. Despite the awkwardness of the situation, he remained collective, almost relaxed. The sharp pain that seemed to eat away from the inside, exploded in his finger. The green gem lit up with fire, rendering the office a mosaic of innocent reflections. The pain grew stronger as the flame intensified, turning scarlet and then purple. Lex screamed out, at the top of his callused lungs. The green now turned black.

Clark blurred in front of him, and lifted him up by his neck. "Give me one good reason not to kill you right now, Lex," he tightened the grip a little, "because I just saw the world end and my love," he looked on, towards Lana, "die bleeding steel onto my arms. This world would be a better place without you."

Lex felt his bones crack; the lack of air made him weak and vulnerable. The pain was overwhelming, as his nerves almost gave out, leaving his body numb. Clark's enraged face, along with everything around it, turned a shade of an indistinguishable mist. Instinctively, with the last of his strength, he raised his right hand for the last, singular strike. The Black of Lex's ring came in contact with Clark's forehead, only intensifying the pain from the burns.

Suddenly a flash of light surged from in between the two rivals. Their bodies felt hollow and weightless, as if they drifted in midair. The pain was gone, so were the worries and the fears. At last, the world around them turned dark.

What a fabulous update!!!! I love Clark's confidence! I love how he's in Kal-mode, but all Clark.

So perfect. Your writing is like the finest of sci-fi novels. So deliciously fulfilling.

Oh, but man, the cliffy . . . the light . . . the rivals.

So maybe he's been out celebrating. I don't see him logged onto K-Site. But I think he intends to write & post the rest this week anyway. I hope it's at least tomorrow.

12:22 a.m. - Oh! Ketchup has been spotted in the Clana forum. Could an update be coming after all? Several fans hang around to find out... Ketchup: No, no update tonight, its only about half way done…it won't be coming till tomorrow….its full of action and happy clana, but i have to re-write the last half cuz it doesnt feel right and just thought of a much better last few paragraphs. so tomorrow before 12 sounds feasible. im so sorry :(

He felt the lines of bright sunlight pour through the openings in the window blinds. They came bouncing off the walls, trying to wake and stir off the dreamy atmosphere the filled the room. Her head lay gently on top of his bare chest, with her arms wrapped tightly about him. He always thought that she looked her best during the early mornings, with no make up on and her hair naturally tangled up. To him, it seemed unthinkable to wake her from the bliss that, as her smile revealed, she was going through deep inside her mind.

The bright red digits glowed a seven twenty-nine on the clock by the bed. He carefully extended his arm to switch off the alarm, afraid that it'd shatter this scene of beauty. He knew that he would not fall asleep again. Instead, he'd be content with lying there and marveling at the one who lay so gracefully upon him, much like he did every other morning.

Minutes passed them by, and eventually she stirred at the touch of his fingers, that were gently moving the hair off her face. Disoriented at first, she soon felt his warmth and felt perfectly safe. Her smile grew wider as her arms grew even tighter around him.

"What time is it?" she asked, her eyes still sealed.

"Almost eight," he replied, stroking her hair.

"Good, you can super-speed me to work again."

He laughed quietly into her ear, so that only she could hear. "I don't know, I just might decide to keep you with me for the day," he joked, "get your priorities straight, and spend more time with your own personal superhero."

"Mmm," she hummed back, finally opening her eyes, "sounds like a great idea." She reached out towards him, letting their lips collide in a short, but tender kiss. "Good morning, sleepy head."

He faked a hurt expression. "So I'm the sleepyhead?" he said, poking her, "Its about time you got up!" Amidst all the giggling, she tried hard to catch her breath, and beg for him to stop, but it was of no use.

When he finally stopped, she gave him a slight slap on the cheek. "Don't ever do that again!"

"Alright, alright," he smiled back, "let me go make us some breakfast." With that, the sunlight that previously filled the room faded. The transition was so sudden that within seconds, he could no longer see her face. He was coming to wake.

Clark felt his head being lifted off the steel floor, and out of the pool of blood he lay in for the past quarter-hour. A terrible headache pierced his brain, moving on and into his neck that felt crushed. As he felt his back land on something smooth and soft, he opened his eyes, only to see Ted's skinny figure towering above him.

"Mr. Luthor, are you alright, sir?" the man asked, but Clark didn't respond. The pain, the blood, it all made sense now, but it took him a number of long moments to accept the transition. This is perfect, he thought, realizing that he was now in Lex's body, and no one around him, save the Luthor in his old body, knew about this. Where was his body?!

"I'm fine," he finally replied to the endlessly repeating inquiries, "where is Clark?"

Ted showed off a prideful smile. "You need not worry about him, sir," he said pointing in the direction where Lex lay face down, besides a chuck of glowing green rock, "Clark won't interfere with your plans any longer." He then proceeded to help Clark sit up on the couch where only just lay him down.

The pain in his neck intensified, having to support his heavy, bleeding head. Carefully, with caution, Clark turned his head towards the chair Lana was strapped in. She looked exhausted, her eyes enclosed in a deep shade of blue, with dark eyeliner tear lines falling off her face. Her gaze was fixed upon Clark's motionless body. Whatever anger she expressed at first, now gave way to tears of despair that only increased the more she stared at the seemingly lifeless mess lying on the floor. She did not move, even after Clark spoke, in Lex's voice, ordering Ted to untie her.

"Leave us," he said, once the C.O. lapdog finished, "and don't let anyone in until I call on you, no matter what happens." Without question, Ted obeyed. Clark followed him with his eyes and soon the doors slid shut, leaving him and Lana almost alone.

Some say that if one's flesh is injured once, he'll never feel a second stab, be it in a different position. All the pain that he could experience, he'd already feel where first he was hurt, and the second will draw little attention. This is why all that Clark felt as the blade pierced his ribs was a tingling sensation, followed by a burning rush of blood to and out of the fatal wound.

"Perhaps that bastard was right about Clark," he heard Lana's voice from a far, "he won't interfere with your plans any more, but that doesn't mean I won't." She spit in his face and ran over to Clark.

"No Lana, wait!" he called out to her as she picked up the stone and was about to throw it away. His voice was barely audible, choked up with the salty taste of blood, but in the tense atmosphere of the room, every word he uttered made its way to his beloved, "Its me, Clark.'" He was talking to a shape now, a blurry silhouette that turned from the man on the ground to facing him. "I'll... I'll prove it. Remember the night at the cemetery. When I ran away from my, my house," his voice was breaking, and the words refused to come out. The red stained his face, dripping over his white cotton suit, "And you came to talk to your parents. They... they told me that... no matter what happens, you are never alone," He could not see this, but Lana's eyes were tearing up, "and then your Dad added that you'll be that year's Prom Queen." With every word, he felt hollower inside, strength slowly leaving him.

"Clark," she whispered, letting her tears fall, as she saw him dying, in someone else's body.

"And then you asked me if... if they really said that, and I said yes. And then..."

She ran over to him, kneeling on her knees, taking his head in her arms. "Oh Clark."

"... and then you let me walk you home and for the first t- first time in my life I felt truly complete, like I finally found- I finally found you."

"What should I do, Clark, " she spoke through her tears, seeing his eyes turn blank, "you always know what to do..."

His whole body went numb, and with it the pain disappeared. "Get the ring," he spoke, but could no longer hear what he was saying. "Move me closer to him."

Lana struggled to pull him off the coach, and dragged him over to the body that Lex was inhabiting, leaving a trail of red reflecting off the metal floor. Her heart was beating away the few moments he had left to live - the faster it went, the closer was he to his end, and it kept picking up it monotone pace. Skimming feverishly between the objects in the office, she finally stopped to pick up the tiny piece of gold, enclosing an entrancing purple-black crystal, when she noticed her hands. Stained a dark red, they reminded her of the knife they held just minutes ago. If he died, it wouldn't be Lex's or Ted's or anyone else's doing, it would be hers.

"Clark?" she spoke, as she slipped the ring back onto his burnt finger, "what should I do now?" But he did not respond. His right hand motioned for her to move away. Then, with the little that remained of his strength, Clark let it fall on his body's forehead. The moment the ring came in contact with the pale, green-tinted skin, the blinding purple light exploded anew. The next instant it was gone, and all that dared to shatter the silence of the room was Lex's death groan.

Left disoriented by the flash, Lana quickly recovered and threw the green rock as far away as she could. Rushing to Clark's side, she leaned over and looked deep into his eyes. She called out to him, gently stroking his hair, but saw no reply. The tears that were dried up by the light, now came surely back. Pouring uncontrollably, they soon reached her chin and from there rained down onto his lips, soaking them in all their bitterness.

At that moment, as if to counter the taste, Clark's lips moved to form a wide smile. "Hey there," he said, as her puffy, moist eyes came back into focus.

What she felt was a certain mix of joy, confusion, relief and disbelieve. "Hey," she laughed nervously, exchanging the bitter tears for those happiness, as she smiled back at him. "I thought I'd lost you, but then I knew you'd find me, you always do."

"I always will," Clark said, as he leaned in to give her the most passionate kiss that she'd ever experience. He poured everything in it - the agony of seeing her lifeless body, the hatred of himself for letting her go through all of this, the slow motion capture of the world in its final moments, the silver blood dripping on the floor, the two of them making fun of Dave, and every single moment that they shared back in their teenage days. "I'll always find you."

He picked her up and sped her past the fields of glittering white light, and past the dozens of patrols, finally landing miles away from Lex and the horrors of Luthor Corp.

"You know," Clark said, once he let her down, "I had another dream."

Lana gave him a worried look. "Is everything alright?"

"This time, I think it will be."

And as they slowly stepped their way amidst the young and wild grass, the Sun was setting fire to the horizon. Whatever sufferings they have endured, they both were certain now that it would set again another many days.

Yea! I almost wanted to hurl when Lana stabbed Lex/Clark. I was thinking 'No, you stupid %$^$%@, not now! But then Clark went back to the seminal moment of their relationship to prove who he was, that was sweet!

Now if 4Ever will start writing, now that the World Series is over, we can get two stories finished!

Wow...that was a great finale! With the black-k I was expecting Clark to split again or some crazy stuff like that, but I did not see that coming. And Lana nearly killing him...that was almost really bad. But of course it all worked out in the end. Great ending to a great story. Now you can take a break, sit back and post ‘PPMS’ on every persons thread in the whole Clana board to exact your revenge! :)

Lol, well Im in the middle of planning the storyline for one, but if I start like rite now, Ill have to have one-month breaks between updates again... and you'd all hate me for that. So I might be thinking about one, but I wont actually post anything at least until Im done with Robotics... which is in 5 weeks unless we win state.
