Well, I've seen other threads on this site, dealing with stuff not related to Smallville, so I thought I'd give that a shot. Is anyone else looking forward to the release of 'Serenity' into theaters this fall?
If you don't know what I'm talking about, this film is based off of the canceled Joss Wheedon TV show 'Firefly,' which I'd HIGHLY encourage anyone and everyone to check out. it was unlike anything I've ver seen in the way of sci fi, and believe me, sci fi is something I know about.
Anyways, just wanted to pitch that out there to see what people thought. As for me.......I'll be there opening night. :)

k, just wait until September. We should be seeing a poster of it soon.
The movie I am most in anticipation about, by one of my favorite directors/writers.
I'll be in the theatre constantly during its release.
Joss, I will not fail thee! :-)

I really really really loved FireFly.
I watched the whole series basically in 4 days.
Only issues I had were
1. too stand alone-ish, the over-all arc only came into play in a few episodes
2. There was no ending.
But needless to say I'm mucho excited for this movie. Every character on that show is intriguing and likeable in there own way. And a full-lenght movie will take no prisoners with the story or the characters.
I'm so glad they got to make it.

And he's awesome as Capt. Mal.
I liked him on Buffy.
and I thought it would be weird seeing him in Firefly's role. But he so owns that character
Summers

Talk about playing two different characters. On Firefly he is the main lead who is a good guy, and on Buffy he was the woman-hating-ex preacher-vessel of the First. He was one of my favorite villians :D.

But had so much more character as Jane

he named that character that after a song. can't remember the story.
It might have been a reference to Johnny Cash's "A Boy Named Sue".
I thought there was lyric something like "A man named Jane" but I couldn't find the song.

Well, I can see that I'm not alone here. I did manage to look up the official site for the movie, and it's pretty cool. You can sign up for newsletter updates on the movie, and the cast and crew post messages to fans every once in a while.
I am ready to start seeing some promos for the movie though. I want to see how Serenity looks on the big screen.
Oh, and while I was a fan of the entire crew, I'd have to say Kaylee was my fav. Talk about adorable. :)
As a racing fan, I can really appreciate a woman with a little grease on her. :)

I know nothing of Serenity and have never really been a fan of Angel or Buffy. That being said, that is a very good looking trailer. I'm not sure if what I saw there could sustain itself for an entire film, but it definitely deserves a chance to prove itself.
I'll be seein' it.
I got a little choked up knowing that this film endeavor by Joss will actually succeed.
He deserves it. http://www.planetsmilies.com/smilies/love/1/love33.gif

Just as a tiny bit of a sequel to my previous post. A friend of mine bought the Firefly DVD set and because I saw and liked the trailer I figured I'd watch some eps and borrowed the set from him. This was a big mistake because Firefly officially owns my soul now.
An amazing show cancelled well before its time. In the words of the much beloved Bender (yet one more show cancelled before its time), "Fox can bite my shiny metal ass."

Right now, Fox has a knack for screwing themselves over. FIREFLY was one of the best shows on TV, but they put it on a Friday just like TRU CALLING. I missed every episode up until the last two episodes, which I caught by mistake.
Own the DVDs and I can't wait to see the film -- finally some much needed answers and in an action-packed way!

I tried looking for the Serenity thread, but either I missed it or it disappeared. I dont know what happened, so I hope its okay this thread can be the Serenity thread :(.
About two years ago a short-lived show called Firefly appeared on Fox. Fox aired the show out of order, and didnt even show the pilot when it first aired until later in the season. Firefly is one of Joss Whedon's shows(he is the also the genius behind Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel), so having shows in order is a must because of the characterization and continuity. Needless to say Firefly was cancelled in less than 12 episodes. It appeared on dvd with 14 episodes(several were never show on the air) in complete order, and it was a complete success. The revenue of the dvd was so well that is sparked the making of the feature length called Serenity.
This world in Firefly is basically a melting pot of sorts. Joss Whedon combined the past(very western) and the future in one show, and it is labeled as "cowboys in space". In his other shows Joss created the Buffy-ism language, and here he does the same. Two cultures survived in this future the United States and China. So when lower-class people cuss they say it in Chinese .
Here is the roaster of the show and movie:
Captain Malcolm "Mal" Reynolds
The son of a rancher, Mal was brought up on the planet Shadow by his mother and a large amount of other helping hands, which leads to the obvious conclusion that Mal and his family were fairly well off. He fought in the Unification War for the Independents as a soldier who commanded up to five thousand soldiers during the battle in Serenity valley on the planet Hera. The war was a pivotal moment for Mal. While it seemed that they would win the battle in Serenity Valley there wasn't enough back up, after all Mal had tried to do and he had to give himself up. Since the war Mal has tried to operate as much under the radar as possible. First thing he did was to by a ship, he bought a Firefly class transport ship and named her Serenity. He enlisted Zoë as his first mate on the ship and brought in a crew. Jayne, Wash and Kaylee. Together they did what they could to keep flying, took whichever jobs they can no matter how illegitimate. He will do whatever it takes for his ship and his crew. And will always stay away from the Alliance for as long as he can.
Zoë Warren(2nd in command)
Zoë was brought up on a ship, she mentions this to her husband Wash. The only other survivor of Mal's platoon from the war. Zoë is Mal's first mate, she runs all of the main missions with Mal as his right hand man. She met her husband while on Serenity, her husband being the pilot Wash. At first sight and meeting with Wash she didn't like him. She didn't want him piloting the ship let alone have thoughts about him being her husband. But that happened somewhere down the line and the two are happily married. Zoë's the soldier of the crew, she takes her orders from Mal and never sways from them.
Jayne Cobb(the muscle)
Jayne Cobb seems to be a pretty mysterious guy. Not much is known about him or his past. He used to work with two other guys, hijacking whoever they could take one. At least until Mal gave him a better offer, to come aboard Serenity. Jayne, simply, works for whoever pays him the most at the time. Aboard Serenity though he's had a few run ins with the captain to set him straight, after a few mistakes Jayne made. One being, giving Simon and River away to the Feds and almost getting them all caught by some higher governing body. Above all Jayne is a fighter, he's skillful with a gun in his hand, or any other weapon really. Fists work too.
Wash(Serenity's pilot)
Wash was raised on a planet that was so polluted he couldn't even see the sky. One thing which probably led him to his career in life, a pilot. He was regarded as one of the best pilots, before he came aboard Serenity and worked for Mal. Aboard Serenity Wash found his wife, Zoë. At first Zoë didn't like Wash at all, there was something about him, but they did get married and enjoy a happy marriage, most of the time. Often Wash felt as though Zoë honored Mal more than she did her own husband, but those issues were long sorted. The next issue on the agenda for the happy, married couple was the issue of a child and bringing up one aboard Serenity. Zoë wants a child, however Wash is reluctant to. Wash could be seen as the one with the humor, out of all of the crew of Serenity. He'll do whatever it takes, especially if his wife's life is at risk.
Still posting rest of the crew and pictures........
Kaywinnit Lee 'Kaylee' Frye(the young prodigy mechanic of Serenity)
Kaylee's seen as the baby of the crew, the youngest out of them that's for sure, but that it no way demeans her value to the crew. She's the ship's mechanic. She's got a natural gift with engines, so her father tells her, who trained her. She first came aboard Serenity as the previous mechanic's, Bester, humping buddy. But in all innocence Kaylee just wanted to see the engine. Which she did get to see. She also fixed it, something Bester couldn't do. That impressed Mal enough to want to dump Bester and take on Kaylee, besides the fact that she had never had any experience on a ship before let alone go off planet. Hardly ever without a smile Kaylee's the most cheerful of the crew, always thinking in "glass half full" terms. When Serenity first picked up a set of passengers a certain doctor caught her eye. Dr. Simon Tam. She and Simon had many attempts in which to ignite something more than friendship but they never really got the chance. There is hope for the future though.
Inara Serra
Nicknamed the Ambassador by Mal, Inara is the onboard Companion, bringing an air of class to the ship. She was born on the planet Sihnon and trained to be a companion there too. She was headed to the ranks of High Priestess, though for some reason she decided to rent a shuttle from Mal on Serenity and not take the high road. Not even Mal knows why she's working on Serenity instead of some high class establishment, where she could be working. Inara is an extremely elegant young woman. She has chosen to never have any of the crew of Serenity as a client of hers, though her client list is full of high class, not to mention rich people. She services women as well as men, though always chooses wisely as to whom she will provide her services for. After many years of working from Serenity, from the shuttle she rents, she tells Mal that she's leaving Serenity, with more than one tear in her eye. Mal can't quite believe it, but it looks like the budding romance between these two will never evolve.
Shepherd Book
Shepherd Book first came aboard Serenity at Eavesdown Docks on the planet of Persephone. He wasn't looking at wear the ships were going, just at the ships themselves. He chose Serenity, with a little persuasion from Kaylee. He told the crew he had just left Southdown Abbey, where he used to live as a Shepherd, a religious man. A man of the cloth. Though there is an air of mysteriousness surrounding Book. For as a Shepherd he knows a lot about firearms, from how to fire them, and identifying them by the marks they leave on bodies and shooting them to pin point accuracy. The bounty killer, Jubal Early, when told by Simon that Book was indeed a Shepherd, there was no doubt in Jubal's mind that he wasn't in fact a Shepherd. Book however is a kind hearted man, he's helped out the crew on many occasions. Despite being a Shepherd he has hand a hand in the less legitimate business dealings of Mal's.
Simon Tam(the doctor)
Brought up on a wealthy core planet, Osiris, with his sister River and family, the tam family was a wealthy one. Simon was known to be gifted, very intelligent from a young age. The only profession it seemed he should go into was medicine, and that's exactly what he did. He was heading to be one of the best paid surgeons on Osiris working at the hospital called AMI, but he gave it all up. All for the safety of his sister, River. He had suspicions that River was in trouble in the boarding school she was at. When Simon tried to tell his parents about his fears, they didn't want to have any of it. Thinking that he was just being too protective or missing his sister altogether. He successfully deciphered coded message she sent to him and then went to try and rescue her. He successfully got her out. She was frozen, cryogenically, and he brought her aboard Serenity at Eavesdown Docks on Persephone, when he first boarded the ship. It was revealed that Simon had brought her sister aboard, and with that came the Alliance. They seemed to be after River and Simon, which didn't please Mal at all. Though grudgingly Mal welcomed Simon as part of the crew. After all a ship needs a medic and that's what Simon was there to be, as long as he could keep his sister in check.
River Tam
Whereas Simon is gifted, River is some level above that. Born on Osiris, River enjoyed a comfortable childhood. She was more intelligent than her older brother and was often seen to, not only be correcting his school work but also the textbooks from which he would be working from. Because of River's huge intelligence she was found an Academy to go to. River wanted to go there, but it wasn't what it seemed. There she was, what could only be described as tortured. Her brain was "played with". A portion of it was removed, which means that now River feels everything she. She can't not feel things she doesn't want to feel. Simon managed to figure out what was happening to River, via a slew of coded messages River was sending him. He saved her from the Academy. It is not know who ran the Academy, even though it was paraded as a government run boarding school. River was brought aboard Serenity in a cryogenically frozen state. She was woken up before her time by Mal, who wanted to see what was in the box. Ever since the experiments that were done on River in the Academy she's seen to be a bit mad, not quite with it. He symptoms appeared to be getting worse, until Simon managed to find out exactly what was wrong with River and get some drugs together to begin treating her. Even though she is seen as a bit of a mental nutcase, her intelligence is intact. She outwitted a bounty killer and she's managed to shoot three men during a gun fight with her eyes shut. Some may even say she's got psychic abilities. Being able to read people, and their actions before they say anything.
River is the main focus for the movie.

Sure. I think they will air it after BG, but I'm not sure. I'm checking listings now while I'm finding the link to the trailer.
SciFi Channel and Firefly
The Scifi Channel has announced that they will be airing Firefly this summer!
SCI-FI TO AIR UNSEEN FIREFLY EPISODES: The SCI FI Channel announced that this July it will air all 14 hours of Fox's canceled SF series FIREFLY, including three previously unaired episodes. The series, from BUFFY and ANGEL creator Joss Whedon, will air starting July 22, in the 7 p.m. ET/PT Friday timeslot.
Source: div.
Now, if anyone is not able to buy the dvd or has the Sci-Fi channel, then there really is no worries. Joss Whedon shows have a vast, impressive continuity(factual and emotional) than any show ever produced. There will be no doubt that he will have backstory in this film, so the general audience will not be dark. He accomdated the film for the Firefly fanbase and the casual audience viewer alike.

Well, publicity has been just starting since June. They are at Comic-Con this year as well. Um, if you go to the movie sites Serenity is getting talked about as well in various magazines.
It really started to peak interest once the trailer was shown before Batman Begins. Its hailed to be a must see movie by Entertainment Weekly(and many many critics and magazines) as well.
So there has been publicity I guess maybe you missed it I suppose lol. Sci-Fi is now helping in the marketing of this film starting this week :D.

Well, they sure helped sabtoage their own show. They put the episodes out of order, and the pilot "Serenity" never aired until later. That's damaging in a Whedon show because he loves to have a solid foundation. Since everything was all jumbled up people tuned out, and the ratings went down and Fox canned it.
TV shows on dvd is the reason why this is movie possible :). Fox also was very controlling Mal's character, so Joss was fighting with them on his character. With this movie we can get high quality CGI effects, and Joss gets free reign :). The CGI effects on the show is pretty cool as well.

Joss compromised on Mal by putting in a few scenes they wanted, but they didnt understand Mal's mental state in the beginning of the show.
Yes, Joss also fought with WB about creativity, and other network politics. Joss and the WB had a love/hate relationship that started from day one when they wanted BtVS to be changed to Slayer...that made Joss furious. Joss won out on the name, but he rarely ever budged unless he had to for a network. He fought and would win for his creativity on his shows except he compromised on Mal at times.
Interesting thing is if Serenity will do well there is a rumor that Sci-Fi will buy a S2, and air it on their network :D.
Um, you can buy the dvds anywhere from your local store to online like Amazon for instance. It only has 14 episodes, but great special features.

Hopefully scifi will treat Firefly better than the idiots at Fox did. Not only did they air it out of order but they also put it on Friday nights, when everybody goes out. Yes, they have all the original characters and cast mates. Its following the series finale, but Joss knows that not everyone saw the show so he will have backstory of the show in the film. He is acknowledging the general audience will be the dark. So I'm expecting Simon and Mal to give some exposition on River's arc from the show.
You know our Joss. He loves his continuity :).

2)Angel

Oh, they are crazy, and sadistic. But they are human. Has anyone seen the movie Wrong Turn? They are kinda like those guys in there. If I had to compare.
Well, being a film general audience would like to see the Reavers whereas in a tv series we can go for a good season from not seeing them. Plus Joss and Co. know how to use high quality make up for their demons, as an example, the Gentlemen.

I got some quotes about the Reavers in "Bushwacked" for some help on their recollection. See the term men is used for civilizations whereas the term human is used for broader useage. I just love that there no aliens because nearly all sci-fi shows have aliens except for Battlestar Galatca(sp?).
JAYNE
Reavers ain't men.
BOOK
Of course they are. Too long removed from
civilization, perhaps -- but men. And I believe
there's a power greater than men. A power
that heals.
MAL
Reavers might take issue with that philosophy.
If they had a philosophy. And if they weren't
too busy gnawing on your insides.
(then)
Jayne's right. Reavers ain't men. Or they
forgot how to be. Now they're just... nothing.
They got out to the place of nothing. And that's
what they became.
They are basically humans that been isolated too long. and lost everything about being civilized.
Firefly-verse they really go through all levels in society which also intertwines with the unique language in show/film.

Oh, yea. It is a lot different. They gave more of a story in this one. At least some events of the movie especially on Serenity and River. I loved this trailer than the other that was released. It look so incredibly cool!!!!!! :).
From this trailer it looked like the crew was right in "Objects in Space" finale. River is a trained killer, and it was the secret she has been keeping all this time. We also find out her age is 17.

An article about Firefly/Serenity from Yahoo! Movies that's a good read:
Whedon flock ready for 'Firefly' resurrection
Friday July 22 9:05 AM ET
Now that "Star Wars," "Star Trek" and "The Matrix" are fading into the sunset, what will take their place in the hearts of sci-fi fantasy fans?
TV auteur Joss Whedon and Universal Pictures are hoping that it's "Serenity," his movie version of 2002's aborted Fox space Western TV series "Firefly," which opens Sept. 30.
Universal launched its grass-roots awareness campaign for Whedon's directing debut in April, recruiting Whedon's loyal fans to help sell "Serenity," which features the original "Firefly" cast. The studio previewed the rough cut nationwide in markets where "Firefly" performed best, culminating last weekend with a rousing screening at the Comic-Con International confab in San Diego, where Whedon and his cast conducted a panel for fans.
Back in 2001, when Whedon sat down to write his follow-up to the two hit Fox series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel," he wanted to try his hand at a space Western.
"I thought, 'Wagon Train' in space," he said on the phone from Cape Cod, where he is conceiving his upcoming "Wonder Woman" script.
He didn't know that Gene Roddenberry had set out to do the same thing back in the 1960s, when he created "Star Trek," a smart TV show that was saved by its fans.
History is repeating itself.
Starting Friday night at 7, the Sci Fi Channel is showing all 13 episodes of "Firefly" -- in the correct order.
"Fox never got the show," Whedon said. "It was a bad match." After premiering the series late after a World Series game and running 11 episodes out of order, Fox dropped it.
"I told the cast the day the show was canceled that I would not rest until I found another home," Whedon said. "I felt like I had let them down."
Not wanting to admit failure was part of it, too, Whedon admits. "I didn't want people thinking that the show didn't work. Nothing I've ever done has ever emerged so instantly. Even the pilot was the way it should be. There was never an awkward growing phase. It felt right. Every actor felt so right, they worked so well together. I couldn't bear to let the universe go, or let the actors out of my sight."
When overseas markets demanded a DVD release, Fox Home Entertainment complied. The "Firefly" DVD sold more than 200,000 copies.
Whedon felt vindicated. Having soldiered in the feature screenwriting realm on "Toy Story," "Titan A.E." and an unproduced "X-Men" script, Whedon told Universal executive Mary Parent that he wanted to make his directing debut on the movie version of "Firefly." She checked out the DVDs.
"Write it," she told him.
Renamed "Serenity," after the Firefly-class ship that scours outer space, the $40 million alien-free movie will register with "Firefly" fans without confusing people, Whedon says. And the movie retains the show's homemade feel. "It's like the ship Serenity herself," he said. "Crappy but scrappy."
"Serenity" reunites the original TV cast of nine shipmates in a dysfunctional family. That was the deal. There was never a question of upgrading the cast, though Universal did consider hiring a name villain -- and then dropped it. Added to the youthful ensemble headed by Canadian actor Nathan Fillion, who plays a jocular Kirk-like captain on the mercenary freighter, are archvillain Chiwetel Ejiofor ("Dirty Pretty Things") and David Krumholtz ("Numbers") as a hacker hermit. At Comic-Con, dancer-actress Summer Glau's martial arts scene drew thunderous applause and an Ain't It Cool News rave.
What generates this powerful response? "What captivates the fans is an entire world they can go to," Whedon said, "that feels complete, thought-out, genuine, that they can live in for a long time. From the first show, we made sure every character had their own patch of ground. Conflicts become the story. Everybody plays off everybody."
Said Anna Kaufman, arts editor of the Daily Californian in Berkeley, Calif.: "You feel for the family of nine characters and their well-being. They all have interesting dynamics, pasts and secrets. They're thrumming with life." Kaufman checks the many Web sites devoted to Whedon, "Firefly" and "Serenity" (including http://www.cantstopthesignal.com) for updates on the movie. "I'm greedy. I want more," she adds.
In October, when Universal's co-president of marketing, Eddie Egan, booked a routine rough-cut preview in L.A.'s San Fernando Valley, he was amazed by the explosive response from the research-screening recruits who were clearly rabid "Firefly" fans. He wanted to know just how they had learned about the screening.
It turned out that one fan had identified the movie and tipped off her entire "Firefly" community (known as "browncoats") with one Internet post. Some of them had driven from Arizona and Seattle, Egan says. Universal, deciding that it had something bigger than it thought, pushed the action adventure off of its spring lineup and into the fall.
The studio staged three waves of word-of-mouth sneak preview screenings (which do not advertise the name of the film) in 35 cities where "Firefly" had earned the best ratings, including Toronto and San Francisco. Each time, Whedon posted fan screenings on his blog: once, with a link to a Fandango site where they could order tickets. Each time, all the tickets were sold within five minutes. Fans return for repeat viewings, Egan says, bringing new people with them.
"As the industry struggles to redefine the paradigm of the movie business," Egan said, "and what makes people go to movies or avoid them, a piece of text on a Web page sold out theaters."

How likely is a comeback for Firefly?
TV Guide's Matt Roush about "Firefly"'s comeback possibilities and about "Brilliant But Canceled"!
Question: Now that Sci Fi has picked up the original season of Firefly, and the movie Serenity (which I've seen, and love) is set to hit box offices far and wide Sept. 30, what are the chances of Sci Fi making new episodes of the series? I think I read that Joss Whedon closed down his production company, Mutant Enemy, but could he reopen it if Sci Fi wanted to do a new season? Ultimately, I'd guess much of it comes down to rights issues. Did I read that the same company that is doing the movie also owns Sci Fi, and if so would that make a revival more plausible? I do hope it has a chance of being a series again someday (even if after a couple of more movies), and I think it would make a great permanent addition to Sci Fi's Friday-night lineup. Sorry to be long-winded, but I always appreciate your support of and insight into Whedon's shows (and other great underdogs)! Thanks! — Douglas H.
Matt Roush: I know a lot of people are anxious to see how Serenity does (especially the brains behind Farscape) so they can gauge the market for defunct TV shows becoming movies, and vice versa. If Serenity is a big hit, who knows where that will lead? But I would be surprised if it leads back to TV, even though NBC-Universal, which owns Sci Fi, is also the producer of Serenity (although Firefly was produced by another TV studio). It's beyond me to follow this corporate trail, or to comment on Joss Whedon's desire or ability to return to TV (let it be soon), but it seems that a series of movies, whether for big-screen, video/DVD or TV, is more likely than churning out a new batch of weekly episodes.

07-25-2005, 10:13 PM
Just hope NBC-Universal won't pull out like they did on the VAN HELSING spin-off series, TRANSYLVANIA. Yeap, the show never aired because the movie didn't bank enough money, though ironically, it is mentioned in the Horror Make-up Show at Universal Studios.

Well, they cancelled Angel very rudely. With Buffy they let go, but Joss was pissed at the hypocrisy of that network he actually shut-down shooting of "The Gift"(Buffy's 100th episode and S5 finale) he was so worked up.
Ah, heck I'm still mad lol.
But yes the WB has been pressing Joss for an Angel movie since last Fall actually. Everytime Joss rejected. IMO They are using James Marsters on SV to do their dirty work. I saw two articles since last week on the Angel movie issue with statements all by the WB intertwining it with James stint on SV.
RedPhoenix23
07-25-2005, 11:00 PM
It was WB's own dumb fault. If they loved Angel so much they shouldn't have canceled it and expected Joss to drop everything and do a movie for them.

That's just how the business operates. The companies and studios are after whatever sells. In the case of Firefly, it wasn't attracting the audience so they pulled it. Of course, let's not forget they put it in a Friday night slot.
Summers
07-25-2005, 11:07 PM
Angel was mostly cancelled due to network politics than anything. Joss is not easy to budge especially on creative control.
Ironically(and quite funny) in the beginning of the Fall season the WB released a press release how wrong they were for cancelling the show. Ever since then they pressured Joss. These bums also let go of Buffy, the show that made the network and high quality standards of doing a tv show period, after one of their best seasons(S5).
So needless to say I was happy that Sci-Fi channel has Firefly, and not Fox or the WB network has it :).

Well, it sure didnt help them putting the episodes out of order. I mean they didnt even air the pilot as the first episode(even though there were scenes from the pilot in the trailers promoting the show). You dont do that on a Joss Whedon show. The pilot is essential. Fox shot themselves in the foot how they handled Firefly lol.

I've had it happen twice thus far. LAND OF THE DEAD and ANACONDAS.
SERENITY is going to be packed either way. That much I can foresee.

Well, that screwed up and now, they realized and so have the WB. Ironically.

I'm glad the WB and Fox realized they screwed up by either cancelling their shows or letting them go.
Thank you...thank you Sci-Fi Channel :D.

The Sci-Fi Channel can be thanked on some levels in my book.
They kept STARGATE, started STARGATE ATLANTIS, constantly replay QUANTAM LEAP and SLIDERS. Plus KOLCHAK THE NIGHT STALKER.

Plus great movies that range from blockbusters to B-Movies, and reruns of ROSWELL. I still catch the Slider reruns :).
I adore that channel more and more.

Just wished they would air SLIDERS all the way through.
I'm certain FIREFLY will get plently of play for years to come, now.

I dont think they have aired SLIDERS in order in a longest time. One episode Wade is there, and the next there is Maggie .
Oh, yea FIREFLY to the Buffyverse will get a lot play to come. You can just feel it when something will.

I know that we don't have a SLIDERS thread. So I'll spout the info. The Prof. was killed on an alternate world where Maggie was at, the killer killed Maggie's husband so she joined the team and SLIDERS infamy began there.
FIREFLY will defintely keep an audience on Sci-Fi. I'll be checking in even though I have the box set though.

yea, I remember how the Maggie transition began. I just hate how Sci-Fi puts them out of order on their all day marathons.
I will too. Heck, I still do it with my favorite shows lol.

I've still yet to see how Season Five ending and they've aired about four times, but they never air them in order anymore.
I'm so ready to get the comic next week.

I get to where Mallory comes on board, but that's the far as I see it. Or remember it.
I hope they release the comic in graphic novels because my comic store stinks.

It should be out in graphic novel format. Everything Buffy and Angel related has been in graphic format. Dark Horse will do the same here.

I'm assuming so. That's how I get them. It just takes about a month for the format when all the issues are out.
They talked about the Serenity comics in the Buffverse mag.

Seems logical since it's Buffy related.
Serenity Magazine will be out pretty soon. I think Sept.

That's what I saw as. September to match the movie's release.

I'm sizing up the movie novel as well. I'll be down with that before I see the movie, at least I hope I will.

You wont feel spoiled if you read it first?
LexLuthorMetropolis
07-28-2005, 12:56 AM
I rarely do. As a reader you envision it one way and when you see it onscreen you see completely different, you just have the dialogue playing in your mind and the deleted scenes.
I did it on SPIDER-MAN and it improved the film that much more since Peter David had gone out of his way to add more story to the film.

Wow. I dont think I could do that. I mean I dont mind being spoiled for SV, but for movies especially Joss Whedon I think I would be spoiled. I want to be surprised.
I give you kudos :D.

I tried to do it with Universal's Hulk but passed out reading the first chapter. I tried on SPIDER-MAN 2 but failed miserably.
I'll be reading it every chance I get when I have it, guranteed.
