More news...

Apart from working on Wonder Woman, there's not much else for Joss Whedon to do at the moment. So that's probably why Coming Soon are reporting that he's picked to Direct a new script he's just written called Goner:

Universal Pictures has acquired Goner, a fantasy thriller spec script Joss Whedon (Serenity) wrote and will direct, says Variety...

..."It's the story of a young woman's journey that involves a great deal of horror and some heroics," he said. "It's certainly darker than 'Serenity,' and there are a lot of left turns along the way. It is something I had in mind for a while, and it just poured out of me when I finished my film."

Oooh. Not giving anything away there. Still, he has the work to complete on Wonder Woman too, something he hasn't even started writing yet. From the site of the "infected computer" pop-ups, Comic Book Movie:

CHUD: What is the schedule for Wonder Woman?

Whedon: There's none yet, I'm still writing the script.

CHUD: So they haven't come to you with some set in stone tentpole date you have to meet?

Whedon: That's exactly why I took the gig. They came at me with Wonder Woman at the same time they came at me with X-Men, and they both had advantages, but X-Men was all about the schedule and Wonder Woman was all about not having a schedule. Joel Silver said, 'She's waited for 60 years, she'll wait a little longer.'

He says that there's no way he can see them completing that film in time given the scedule, I assume he means the X-Men movie. I think we're all figuring it's not going so well anyway with the rumours.

Once again I'm looking forward to Whedon's next projects, he's certainly a creative who has a great understanding of the audience and a desire to make something good and entertaining.

[hr]

I'll bet humanity that a blonde will star in "Goner." Anyone care to take the odds? ;)

RedPhoenix23

Thanks for posting the article! I liked it very much! As for a blonde in "Goner"...eh...Joss might be tired of blondes. Whoever gets cast, I'm sure they will be awesome. You could probably start a "Goner" thread! It'd be awesome!

4 more days until Serenity!!!

By the way, someone else will have to pick up on the countdown because I have to send my labtop in for repairs! Urgh. Last week my dang dog knocked it off the bed and caused the plug in for the charger on the back of the computer to come loose, and as a result, its really difficult to charge the battery, I got to jiggle the cable around until it hits a spot it likes, and even then I gotta babysit it to make sure it charges all the way!!! The warrenty is up, and I found out about it on my B-Day of all days! How rude.

Thankfully since I can get it to at least partialy charge with little problem-I have all my school stuff backed up! But, that means I will miss chatting about Serenity and Smallville after they premere!! Oh well, maybe if I have time I'll sneak off to the computer lab and post some! Don't forget me yall!

whoah, I feel better! Serenity rocks.....4 more days until the premere!:D

Ummm... okay don't read this if you don't want to be spoiled....

They didn't warn us characters... main characters... would die! Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggghhhhhhh.... so wasn't expecting it.

Besides that... freaking awesome. People in my movie theatre were laughing & cheering... although they also clapped for the trailer of Harry Potter & Doom. And one lady was wearing the Jayne hat... I love Jayne.

As per usual I loved my Jayne & my Kaylee... so funny & cute both of them. And yes LLM... a certain funny interaction between them piqued my fancy... it involved discussion of nether regions... they are so funny together. Jayne really keeps the movie from getting too dark or grim... which is great. And I loved their mission... and the explanation of the reavers and some of the River stuff. I'm sure Joss has more in mind for a sequel... but the movie still left at a point where I'd be satisfied if there wasn't any more.

My sister is calling me right now to rave about the movie... she's so cute... cause I introduced her to the TV show.

The scene I saw them working on was the one on the planet where Mal pushed the guy off the vehicle and then had to shoot him when the Reavers attacked... and then the Reavers began chasing them. I know... not the most pivitol scene... but I didn't want to give that away.

LexLuthorMetropolis
09-30-2005, 10:18 PM
Yeah, I caught that little reference as well with Kaylee and her toys.

Loved Jayne's "Let's be bad guys" in the beginning. :)

I Saw the movie today and liked it and I never saw any of the Firefly episodes.
It seemed like a movie taken from a TV show in the depth of the characterizations and interactions that are never specifically explained in the movie itself. This is actually a good thing. Most movies could stand to have several month's worth of backstory developed for them.

The problem I saw in this episodic viewpoint was the feeling I had at the end that the "real" story would be continued and concluded in an episode sometime in the future.

Outside of that, this "episode" was very good and the story presented was well developed and resolved.
I felt the main villian was a little bland and the presentation of the overall background threat from "the Reavers" was sketchy at best but there is enough info to follow all the character's motivations just not QUITE enough to identify with them (unless, I guess, you saw the TV show).
The "Reaver's scene" described above happens early in the movie so it's not a BIG spoiler. Actually, I'd suggest the people who read this little review who go to see the film (at least those who never saw the show) pay CLOSE attention to the scene because it will help in understanding all the references to the Reavers throughout the rest of the movie.

I'd be interested to see if the DVD ends up with a "Director's Cut Extended Edition" or a lot of deleted scenes that flesh out the rather spare 90 minutes.

I'd assume that anyone reading this thread after the movie opened... would either have seen the movie or know they would be spoiled. Just like after an episode of a TV show. Is that a wrong assumption???? I'm happy not to discuss it... if that is the "unwritten rule"... I just didn't know.

Can you write the line, if you can remember, if you want with spoilers tag, there was so many things going on on that scene and I missed the line. The theater burst into laghter and I was confused, I only caught something about the batteries...... I imagine what it was but Im not sure.... I was surprised with Wash, I did not saw that coming it was so sad and then he kept wounding people and I was like he can't make a sequel if he keeps killing regulars

when Wash died I cried, it was sooo sad and when River went to to get Simon's bag I thought she was going to die seeing as though she was all better(so she might not have been kung-fu like anymore), so I cried then too. It was such a great scene when she sacrificed herself (somewhat, lol).

We had also seen Kaylee having sex early on in "Out of Gas", in fact, Mal found her out that way! lol.

Yeah, I was laughing pretty loud at that simple moment. The older couple next me to just looked on thinking I was nuts.

In fact, I spent most of the movie laughing at the earlier references to the series, but I was beaming like a little kid all over again.

I just couldn't believe the second death... the first one... well more of a minor character (although frustrated we never learnt his backstory)... but after that I thought... ok everyone else is safe. Then WHAM out of no where another death.... then everyone started getting seriously injured... and I started getting scared... maybe Whedon's going to kill them all off... I thought well for sure not Mal or River... but then the Reavers grabbed River and she was reaching to pull away... then I thought that at least Mal would be safe... hell he died in the series and still lived. Let me tell you... I was flabergasted for much of the end of the movie.... thinking everyone would die. Obviously designed that way... but man was it painful.

Mel's Review

Mal-The man who no longer had faith in anything by the end of this movie had faith. We saw a little bit transformation on the show, but this was a lot of progression. I loved how he talked to River very sweetly sometimes like calling her "little one", and the very end. It was very olderly brother feel I got. It reminded me of Xander and Dawn some :D. Man, I love his browncoat and gun :D. Mal to me represents many of my guy friends he is very realistic. I love him.

Zoe-ah, Zoe. I feel so sorry for her lost, and did anyone notice how her clothing color changed at the very end. She was in pale pink . A very softer color. I loved how Joss gave her the prespective of the man who Mal shot at the end. I think that helped the understanding of Mal's character and Zoe/Mal relationship. Did anyone notice when Mal threw Simon on the table Zoe reached for her gun? She was seeing Mal's war-like side. Gotta love the reference of Serenity Valley :).

Inara-she was terrific, and recently been told I have some characteristics like her lol. She was even fighting the operative . Very painful. How cool was it with her flash bomb :D. Did anyone notice her bow and arrow gun at the end? :D. Plus now we really saw how much Inara's precense throws Mal's off lol. I love the last scene together when they smiled at each other. She still has her old sister protectiveness around Kaylee. Notice how she put her hand on Kaylee who was getting scarred when Jayne and Mal were going at it.

Kaylee-ah, the character with the sexual innendos :rotfl:. Gotta have a Joss made show/flick with one of them. I loved her line "I'm going to live" :rotfl:. I was scarred when she got hit. Plus now Simon and Kaylee are officially hooked up, and River on looking :rotfl:.

Simon-now we finally see how Simon got River out of there. I loved how he confronts Mal, and how much he grown from that shy character from the show. I love how we saw the intense scenes with River and him. So touching and endearing. I thought he was going to die too .

River-now we know what drove her nuts. The Alliance made the Reavers . In the theatre I was in the dreams with River scarred the audience and me lol. I loved her fight scenes, and how she said to Simon "now it's mine turn". I was cheering inside with that scene. So those weapons in the poster were Reaver's weapons. Now she is Serenity's pilot :).

Wash-ah, I cried when he died. I couldn't believe he died. Such great flying, and still so funny. "I want to hear how Jayne got put down by a 90 pound girl because there is no way that is getting old" :rotfl:. He also still had his dinosaurs on switches :D.

Book-the only death that was predictable, and I wonder if there is a deleted scene we find out his past. Seemed like we got cut off in that one scene with Mal at night. So sad he died too.

The Operative-now one of my favorite Whedonverse villians. I loved last fight scene with Mal, and how his belief comes into play. I love it was a fight about beliefs at the end :D

So said to see the people at Whitefall perished. We saw them on the show :(. I wonder if the Alliance went after Badger.

I love this movie!!!! And how we heard the western style music in the beginning. The detail of the ships looked amazing from the Reavers to the Alliance. The space battle was awesome.

yellowqueen22
10-02-2005, 01:46 PM

:D :rotfl:

I think what helped me notice things is the angles Joss uses. You know he tries to make every angle important and count, and I just hooked onto the angles. The part with Zoe on gun when Mal was becoming war Mal was great angle.

I'm seeing it again this Saturday with a couple of my friends.

Im thinking on watching it again next Friday. There are some things that I want to see that I don't have clear and things that I want to see again. Also I want to help the movie, this are the extimate gross for the weekend:

1. Flightplan $15,038,000
2. Serenity $10,141,000

Although the movie had the highest gross for the releases this past weekend I wish it would had done a little better, around what Flightplan did this weekend.

Hee, you pretty much summed up everything that I loved about this movie. :D It was everything that I was hoping for and more. My favorite scenes were actually the two River fighting scenes, I absolutely loved those! There's just so many great scenes in this movie though, it was all fantastic.:D My mom loved it too except she was really upset about Wash since he's one of her favorite characters. I already knew that it was going to happen since I was spoiled but I was dreading having to see Wash get killed so much. Zoe's reaction was so heartbreaking right after it happened.:( Poor Zoe. Also loved the humor in the movie, and Kaylee's er..."battery" line got a big laugh out of the whole audience.

I went to a matinee showing of it and the place was pretty packed, so I can just imagine how many people are probably going to the evening and night showings.

I do wish the box office was better, but I think Serenity will be like the series.... it will do VERY well on DVD. I loved the movie and the theater I saw it in was packed. I also noted that it is not on a lot of screens in my area.... only 2 of the 5 cineplexes nearest me. The people coming out of the theater REALLY seemed to like it and I eavesdropped on several groups of people praising it to the stars!!!

Well, Flightplan had a little bit more promotion than Serenity did. Plus a well known star like Jodie Foster(which I just love btw). So I'm not surprised at all.

This movie itself is just a miracle. I mean how many fanbases can say that a cancelled show with just 14 episodes can be turned into a movie? Not many. This was brought about by the fans, and was essentially made for the fans.

Even if we don't have a sequel it is fine by me because the movie itself was a closure for me. It is what I needed to see, and feel from this series. There was enough closure for me that if a sequel doesn't happen then I am pleased.

In a recent article Joss mentioned dvd sales also configure into the decision for a sequel as well :D.

I know IMdb isn't a truly credible movie ranking system.

However, I must say I am amazed that Serenity is now... #149 in their Top 250!

That is remarkable, in general, but also as a means of publicity.

Joss is - finally - getting due credit for his brilliant creative mind.

Glad to see a mod having fun in the threads. Really don't see it often enough!

Any way, the theaters in my area had 4 screens at the theater I went to, 2 at the other cineplex, and another 2 at the various other theaters.

In the magazine and Visual Guide, they actually allude to Wash coming back somehow. How I don't know but I have a feeling we're in for a treat if Joss does bring him back.

Either way, I can live without him. His death had impact and that was truly enough for me.

The bad thing about Books death is that I didn't get a definate impression about what his past was. I think he was an assassin/spy type of guy like the one that was after River, but there really wasn't a straight yes or no on that.

Or maybe I just need to re-watch Serenity again! :D

Book made implications but all we have is speculation. I have to agree, but I really think at the point the show picked up he was off doing his own thing. His past was in the past and I think Serenity made that clear.

I'm sizing up "Elizabethtown" for three weeks from night. I live about 45 minutes from the actual town, so I'm proud to see that onscreen.

Joss said Serenity was the hardest to write in all the screenplays because the things he wanted to address he couldn't. Book's arc was only alluded to, and he couldn't go into detail. But who's say what Book did isn't in the sequel . He had to downsize a lot of things.

I saw a significant about of screentime loss by the characters like Wash and Kaylee. Which is one of the hardest things to watch IMO. One has to suffer for the sake of the main story.

I swear I think there is a deleted scene with Book and Mal in that night scene when they are looking over the camp fire. It felt like we were cut off right when Book tells Mal his past.

cayayofm
10-09-2005, 11:49 AM
Well I don't know I read that they were alot of of scenes cut, mostly Inara's scenes wich I read them in the script book and they were great. There is one in wich Inara in confronting a woman because there is arumor that she had an affair with a pirate (Mal) jeje, she gets angry, it was cool. There was snother where Mal and Inara hug and she is crying in his arms.

About Book like you said they could still told his story. Im not clear if they all are signed for 3, but yeah, he can stll be back.

I thought that they all except Book had a fair screen time. Of course Mal and River take most of of the time but they were all noticed, and they make their presense notable.

Yea, I heard that from Derek. He IMed some of Inara's scenes that were cut. There was lot of screentime cut. I'm not use to it .

He could come back in flashbacks. We know he has some type of tie to the Alliance. The Alliance will most likely be on the Serenity crew's trail. It can still open Book's can of worms in that sense of following in the decisions of a deceased friend.

Oh, they were noticed. I mean as compared to how a series they were downsized. Kaylee's emotions for Simon was kinda like going back to the beginning of the season. Which it is understandble because IMO that was more geared to the general audience.

cayayofm
10-09-2005, 12:03 PM
Compared as to the show they were downzized but it's understandable. If Joss continues then they can get them more involved to the plot. It just feels like if he only had one chance he atleast get out the way te biggest plot on the show, that was The mistery of the alliance and what they did to River.

I wish that he can continue, I don't know yet if I would buy the series, but Im definetly going to buy the movie. It's been a while since we had a whedon project and it was great to had the movie made.

oh, I understand why it is downsized. It's just sometimes hard. I mean I can see what Sarah Michelle Gellar meant on the screentime in a movie version. It's understandble, but it's just hard. Doesn't mean I don't love Serenity any less :D.

The main arc is closed on River, so that opens up the other ones. Zoe's arc has increased IMO. So that's cool. Joss always closes an arc to open up a new one.

I love the series even if it is only 14 episodes.

Actually when "Chosen" aired I knew I didn't want a Buffy movie because for one the journey went full circle. Now they can go back into the Fray backstory that alludes to the final battle that didn't actually happen into Sunnydale. Screentime problems is going to be a big issue, and one of the major concerns by SMG. Seriously, though the novels and comics can continue the series just fine. Just like SW did for the expanded universe beyond Return of the Jedi. Plus don't want to milk the franchaise anymore which I am feeling recently.

With Firefly it's different. We didn't as many years like Angel did. Believe it or not I was one of the people that felt closure with "Not Fade Away". While Firefly we are cut off by the knees with nothing. IMO Firefly deserves more of a continution than any of the Whedon shows on screen.

Have to second that notion. There wasn't enough closure for Firefly, but Buffy and Angel truly had it. I could actually do without a Spike movie as well. Not that I haven't wanted one for a long time.

But the books are such a great point to pick-up from. Let our imagination run wild from book to book.

Same actually applies to all Joss related books.

Just as an additional note, it's a shame that the movie isn't bringing in money. Everyone whom I've spoken with, likes the film, but I suppose our fanbase is more niche than popular as previous assumed.

Keep in mind that DVD sales are added in the long run. So a sequel is still possible.

Another Universal Flick -- PITCH BLACK didn't go over too well in theaters, but gathered a following on DVD and spawned CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK after the DVDs success.

So it's still very likely that SERENITY may get a sequel.

I have no doubt that the DVD will sell, as seen with the Buffyverse DVDs; we're a good fanbase like that. ;)

However, I hope that the sequel is released in theatres, as a straight to DVD sequel is not favorable by I.

What you do is u buy a ticket for Serenity but go to a different movie. That's how all of us teens used to sneak into Rrated movies before we turned 16.

Now that I got my job at Cinemark, I get to watch Serenity as many times as I want... for FREE! And Joss still gets the cash, just not from me but the theater =)

Yep. That way Whedon and not Cruise gets the cash. Tom Cruise produced Elizabethtown and we don't want to support him, but Cameron Crowe makes the most awesome movies, so we decided if we paid to see Serenity, we wouldn't really be supporting Tom Cruise financally and we'd get to see an awesome movie (hopefully), make sense?

The dude that takes your ticket doesn't watch you or anything, and you did legally pay, so its not like you're stealing. And unless you are following in the tradition of the "younger than 18 crowd" sneaking into R rated movies, just play dumb if you are caught. "Oh, this isn't Serenity, my bad...Serenity has spaceships in it? You don't say" If it's just a mistake they won't punt you, they won't even hassel you.

I saw Serenity again... yeah me. Although scarry guy tried to pick me up after seeing it. He made sure to sit near me and then followed me out to the parking garage... started talking to me... slightly creepy. And I had my glasses on and no make-up... WTF???

But Serenity was just as good the second time. Oh... and did I mention... I love Jayne. But more than anything the movie makes Mal even more likeable. So good when he tells Inara the truth, that she makes everything confusing. And his response to her at the end "good answer".

Indeed!!!! Jayne is often given some of the best comedic moments. The only time in the movie I was really pissed off with where they went with his character is when he went after the locked-up River. I just kept thinking back to the episode where he betrayed River and the entire ship... wondering if Jayne will ever learn... he just doesn't get the family/team/loyalty lesson that Mal is trying to teach him.

Calling all Whedonites....

For those of you that don't know yet, Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy, Angel, Firefly & Serenity, will be guest starring on this week's episode of Veronica Mars. This week's episode, airing this Wednesday and entitled "Rat Saw God", will feature Whedon as an Employee at a Rental Car Store. Check below for pictures of Whedon from this week's episode...

Whedon's appearance on Veronica Mars comes after his high praise of the show this summer...

This is my attempt at posting my own thread. My peeps and I just finished a crazed Veronica Marsathon, and I can no longer restrain myself. Best. Show. Ever. Seriously, I've never gotten more wrapped up in a show I wasn't making, and maybe even more than those. Crazy crisp dialogue. Incredibly tight plotting. Big emotion, I mean BIG, and charsimatic actors and I was just DYING from the mystery and the relationships and PAIN, this show knows from pain and no, I don't care, laugh all you want, I had to share this. These guys know what they're doing on a level that intimidates me. It's the Harry Potter of shows. There. I said it. People should do whatever they can to check out this first season so the second won't be a spoiler fest. I'm nutty.

I'm a little calmer now. Oh God, no I'm not! Wait. Wait. Okay. Some of you may already be all up on this, and some may disagree, but I'm urging peeps to check it out, 'cause there is great TV afoot, and who doesn't want that? Thank you for your time.

Still not calm! Wait... wait...

But Whedon's not the only Buffy/Angel Alum to show up in Neptune. Last season, Alyson Hannigan showed up in Neptune as Logan Echolls self-absorbed brat of an older sister. And Alyson will be back for an episode at the end of sweeps to stir up the secretive world of Neptune with fellow Buffy/Angel Alum Charisma Carpenter. Pictures of Hannigan on Veronica Mars below...

Charisma Carpenter is currently stirring up lots of trouble in Neptune as a trophy wife that likes to be naughty. She is likely in the episode with Joss this week. The VM team have also promised that Charisma & Alyson will share a scene (lesbian overtones hinted at????) in the last episode of sweeps. Carpenter pics on VM below...

So the morale of this rant is... watch Veronica Mars and support your Buffy/Angel/Firefly alum.

I'll have to check Veronica Mars out. I've been meaning to anyway, but a Joss appearance is more incentive.

As for the DVD cover, it's not super fantastic, but it's not terrible IMO.

The way I figure is in May or June they'll release a special edition, and that'll have a different cover. ;)

I think I remember Joss saying something about going back to TV being a sort of step backwards for them. After seeing them on the big screen...the small screen just wouldn't do them justice. Or something along those lines. I guess that's kinda true, but a series would allow for a much richer story and character developement. Which is what I would prefer. If there's a choice to be made.

Summers

I think the petition is basically rubbish lol. Considering the fact we know Joss and the companys that helped make Serenity developed are interested in a trilogy in movies not a tv show lol.

That's what tough with tv show we know some characters will be concentrated on equally, but with a movie we get a bigger budget. It's a tough call either way.

Just thought it was interesting for those who might be interested in it.

I've watched this sucker four times. Is that wrong? I mean, I enjoy it more everytime and I catch something that I had missed last time around....but four times? That's not natural. Is it?

I was too broke at the time to see Serenity more than once, so I'm really excited about the dvd. But I don't think it is nuts Tiger. I saw HP4 already three times . Plus being Joss Whedon he is so multilayer in his storytelling there is so much that can be missed.

Mentioning the tv show I had to get these gifs again. I wish I could remember where I got it from :(. It's been so long since I shown them.

Did they already drop it from theaters where you're at? As of Sunday they still have it showing here in San Antonio. Just one more reason I love being in Texas. I doubt it, but I wonder if it has anything to do with San Antonio being Summer's (Glau) hometown?

They are still airing it at the dollar theatre, but that is at the bad side of town :(.

Don't know.

Oh, I found a chilling description of an arc of Inara that would've been in the series. So much so I'm going to put in that thread. It just fits there.

For general audiences I agree. There are more references and discussions from the show itself. It did give excellent closure for the show.

Serenity Sequel on SciFi?

02.12.05 - 03:13

Serenity Sequel on SciFi?

There is a rumour about a sequel on the Sci Fi Channel. ******** or shiny day?

A Serenity Sequel?
This one's for the Browncoats.
by IGN FilmForce

December 1, 2005 - IGN FilmForce has heard that, although it was very disappointed in the poor boxoffice showing for Serenity, Universal may not have retired Captain Malcolm Reynolds and his renegade crew just yet.

Sources said that, given the strong sales of the TV series Firefly on DVD, Universal is planning a sequel film to Serenity that will be produced with and to broadcast premiere on the Sci Fi Channel, which is part of the NBC Universal family.

The project is said to be a lower budget undertaking streamlined for the small-screen.

IGN FilmForce checked with Joss Whedon's camp who denied the claim; Universal did not comment.

Time will tell if this rumor pans out

The rumors have begun .

It's exciting to think about, but I find it hard to get TOO excited about a rumor Joss Whedon himself has denied.

Furthermore, Whedon's plate is already pretty full from what I've heard. He'd be stretched to find any time at all to film a sequel, and it's definitely NOT something he'd hand off to someone else.

That being said... I really really really hope I'm wrong.

Okay, your wrong ;).

No, seriously you are wrong on the sequel part. Whedon's camp only denied the Sci-Fi rumor one because there has been yet a confirmation on a sequel being done period. A sequel right now depends on the sales of the dvd (Whedon said this many times).

Furthermore, Whedon said prior to the release of Serenity release that he already planned a trilogy of the movie already in advance. He already has a layout for the sequel already in advanced if a sequel does arise from the sales of the movie.

Right now Whedon just has Wonder Woman (which he is almost finished the script), and he is already finishing his last arc for Astonishing X-Men. When he is done with X-Men he is writing the first issue arc of BtVS post-S7 for Dark Horse Comics expected to be out sometime during 2006. So if the dvd sales are good the sequel most likely will not be filmed until after Wonder Woman is done first. His writing ventures he has been doing since the Buffyverse days are always on the side.

The only thing debunked is this made-for tv movie venture by Sci-Fi. That's it.

As of right now the only thing he would allow for someone to take over is the "supposely" Spike movie. He said he would be very comfortable for someone to do that one. Everyything else from the BtVS comics to Firefly he wants to do.

He also has at least one other film besides Wonder Woman on his plate... I think it's called Goners or something. AND I believe I heard rumors that he was approached to sign some kind of multi-picture deal with a studio. I could be remembering that incorrectly, though.

The point is that Wonder Woman is something that should take him a great deal of time, I would think... unless he's not directing it and is just writing the screenplay... but I was under the impression that he is directing. If that's the case, that film will eat at least 6 months of his life. I don't know what Goners is about, but you gotta figure that'll take time as well.

Long and short, you gotta figure that for the next year at least Joss Whedon is gonna be a busy man.

I heard very little information on that film. So much so nothing has been happening right now. He is just concentrating on Wonder Woman, and his other writing ventures.

He is writing and directing it. Once "Serenity" finished he went into overdrive, and almost complete on the script.

Yea, that's why if there is a sequel (depending on dvd sales) I wouldn't expect one until 2007/2008. We just have to wait more on the sales right now lol.

I wouldn't judge the tv show by the film because you're really not getting quite the same quality. Meaning the tv show is much better.

Summers
12-06-2005, 01:37 PM
Exactly. It's like judging a book series by the movies. There is going to be some obiviously downgrading of the characters and storylines. With the tv show they had more time to look at the characters far more.
