These Boots (Were Made For Walkin') (http://www.sonymusic.com/artists/JessicaSimpson/video/JessicaSimpson_Boots_RoughVidFull_300.asx)
Based on the hit television series that ran from 1979-85, The Dukes of Hazzard is written by Jonathan Davis, with revisions by John O'Brien and Broken Lizard. Set in present day, the story follows the adventures of "good old boy" cousins, Bo (Seann William Scott) and Luke (Johnny Knoxville) Duke, who with the help of their eye-catching cousin Daisy (Jessica Simpson) and moonshine running Uncle Jesse (Willie Nelson), try and save the family farm from being destroyed by Hazzard County's corrupt commissioner Boss Hogg (Burt Reynolds). Their efforts constantly find the "Duke Boys" eluding authorities in "The General Lee," their famed 1969 orange Dodge Charger that keeps them one step ahead of the dimwitted antics of the small southern town's Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane (M.C. Gainey).

Much as I loved the show, and a fan of SWS I just can't see it being any good. Anyone else?

That Jessica Simpson video is just gross.
Ben Jones has been urging people to skip the movie -- he's saying the filmmakers "trashed" the show.

I don't know the video isn't so bad if it is viewed like i view all other jessica simpson videos.....without sound. won't be long before she's in one of those kinds of videos for Hef. i'll probably rent the movie eventually but i won't see it in the theater. looks like a decent parody.

I used to watch Dukes of Hazzard-wasnt a big fan but I enjoyed it.Seems like it would work better as a weekly sitcom rather then a major movie.Id say probably it wont be too good but u really got wait till it comes out-either see it for yourself or read the reviews.
I like Jessicas video .Course the guys will like it lol. Id probably say a Justin Timberlake video was gross whereas the ladies would probably like that!
I dont like that none of the original cast are in the film-why couldnt John schneider or Tom Wopat or Catherine Bach do a cameo.
Renee28
07-14-2005, 06:11 PM
From the sound of it, none of them like what's been done with the movie. John read an early version of the script and liked it pretty well, but apparently they changed it a lot after that, because now he sounds like he doesn't want anything to do with it at all.

That's what I heard too, but I'm not surprised why its number one for a number of reasons. Mainly due to skimpy outfits worn by Simpson and the General Lee action.

I havent seen it-but from the reviews Ive read it sounds like yet another poor remake.Instead of the good ol boy-southern charm-goofy family fun type show-theyve apparently made it quite vulgar, with many drug and sex references,as well as many sterotypical crude jokes.Im not surprised-another show remade for the M-TV generation!
VersesBatman
08-07-2005, 10:21 PM
I heard that too. Furthermore I don't like who they picked to play Bo.
I saw it this weekend. I thought it was going to stink and went in with low expectations. But it turns out I actually really liked it. It's not award-winning material by any means, but it's really enjoyable and quite funny. 3.8 out of 5.

I've seen two episodes on CMT and caught it opening day (work didn't need me for once) so I opted to go see it, had no expectations for it whatsoever and came out laughing until I couldn't stop.
Felt nothing like STARSKY AND HUTCH but it played itself out pretty well, right down to the gimmick of the show, itself.

Summer movies are popcorn flicks period. If you're looking for deeper and meaningful movies that the winter since Hollywood is trying to get those kind of flicks out there. Action, comedy, and horror are scattered throughout. It's just the way the system works.
As for good movies, you're dealing with Hollywood. Stick with the digging through the back racks, it works for me. I've found plently of great underappreciated films.

Serenity is more of a Fall movie. Summer offically ends in Hollywood as of mid-to late August. Sept. usually signals the start of the Fall.

A bunch of my friends went to go see it and they said it was absolutely dreadful. I gathered that Jessica Simpson should have just stood there, looking sexy in her Daisy Duke shorts, because she only had a few lines and managed to butcher them all. It didn't help that my city's newspaper gave it a bad review.
I'm obviously not going to see it. Heck, I'm still bitter that Jessica Simpson butchered "These Boots Are Made For Walking." She has a nice voice, but I always reach for the mute button when that song comes on.

Yeah, like I said earlier, I liked it. The three people that I saw it with liked it too. But I went in not expecting too much. Maybe that's why. It was funny and fairly well thought out. Like I said before, you have to accept the movie for what it is, and not expect it to be full of stellar acting and a deep plot. I didn't mind the original series, but I thought it was a good movie. I especially liked the Super Troopers connection. :rotfl:

i am afraid to see the movie. i think that it will stink rather than go up....i mean it is not the healthy duke family we knew from the 80s,plus the actors look odd.....besides,it is a low budget movie right?hey i am a big fan of the original series!
just a question:how is the movie score?is it any good?
besides i think it was@not good idea to make a movie without the original cast, even if denver pyle and sorrell booke are dead....

But my bro's on the other hand.....they thought she was best thing about the movie besides the car. Big surprise! :D
I did like the Jessica/Daisy scene when she tries to get like 20 cops to all follow her away from the roadblock because she "needs a tow"-and then a female cop yells at her to tow her own damn vehicle and all the boy cops go back to the roadblock! Oh well, better luck next time! :D

Oh anyway I want to see the film, but I guess that the movie cant be based upon the original TV series,it is only a restart of the Dukes, but never based upon the original show because it doesnt has any of the original cast and the plot is very different.

Reviews mean NOTHING. They are simply grouchy little men getting paid un-godly amounts, to express their PERSONAL opinion.
Personalities, opinions, & tastes vary from person to person.
What one man finds "terrible," another may find really entertaining.
