HI! um i had this question also and i also created a thread like this in the music vid section a while back it's on the last page now, but i had asked vyperman for help and well this is what he said:
As JR mentioned, get DVD ripper software. Magic is the best around, and it only costs you 30 bucks. YOu install the free software from the site, and then enter the registration number after purchase. They send it to you in an email. Magic will convert all of your clips to AVI format, which is what's needed to edit in moviemaker and most other editing tools.
As long as you don't have an Apple, you should be able to find MM2 and download it. Just enter it into a search engine. When you become more advanced, I recommend getting a first class tool like Vegas or Final Cut. But these are bothvery expensive, and should only be bought if you are serious an have the money.
Music video tips
- Try to get all the clips in one format
- Try to avoid showing the characters talking. Mouth movement is distracting.
- If you use dialogue, do it when there is no lyrics, although there are a few times where it is accetable, depending on how fitting the dialogue is.
- Try to change to a new scene after each line in the song. When you become more advanced you can try to do it to the beats. Watch Syazali's (Source) vids for this. He has the best timing and editing skills that I have seen.
- Try not to use too many black fades (Thanks to Xander for this). I used to be heavy into black fades, and then after I stood back and looked, it was annoying to see a scene go to black all the time.
That is all for now. If I think of anything else, I will let you know. Although, Syazali is the real pro around here.
and it really does help!!! on www.download.com you look for the dvd ripper software (i got windows movie maker 2 cause it's free, if ya don't wanna buy one and spend money:\) hope this helps if ya still have questions just pm me or pm vyperman i am sure he is more than willing to help:D:\
