No, but the other day a woman I have class with very enthusiastically recommended it to me because she knows I'm an HP fan. I actually have a copy somewhere in my room, I'm going to have to read it.

I read Eragon!! I loved it! And then I was impressed to find out he wrote it when he was 15!! Amazing!

It's the story about a boy who finds the supposedly only dragon left in the world. It takes place in a fantasy world.

I thought it was kind of funny that the two main love interest's names were similar to Aragorn and Arwen, and that the girl was an elf. Ha.

I need to read the sequel, The Eldest!

Same here for me. Some guy in my calculas class recommended it to me at the beginning of the year and gave it to me to read...it is still sitting on my shelf collecting dust  he won't let me give it back to him until I read it  So I basically end up reading everything but...

It's a decent book, but the main reason the book can be considered decent is because it was written by a 15 year old... Anything by a child prodigy manages to get a bunch of "ooohs" and "aaahs" from adults. Plus, a number of aspects of the book is based off of LOTR.

It is still excellent. There are so many books out there that some aspects will have to be from some other book.

Have you heard of Robert Jordan? He's a best time seller with 11+ books in a series that's incredibly like Lotr. Like littlegreenelf said, there are tons of books that have qualities from lotr, but they still are great books.

Eragon is a great young adults book, not because it was written by a 15 year old, but because...simply beacuse it is. Like other great fantasy books, the characters, the plot, the descriptive detail make it great. Not the age of the author.

I heard with strong indication of truth that the final book will be BLACK with a Black dragon on it to represent Galbatorix, and the name of it will simply be Inheritance.

I've just read Eragon and I'm on the waiting list for the Eldest. I liked Eragon. It was entertaining. It isn't my favorite book in the whole world but it was ok.

I read it and the sequel and thought it was good. I'm not much of a lotrs fan, so I didn't mind the similairtites(sp?).

I hated the movie though, they changed to much, even worse then LotR and Harry Potter movies put together. The only good thing I found of it was Murtagh (charecter in the book) was hott. thats it.

Mhm Christopher Paolini. He started the idea for the book when he was around 15.

I like Eragon, but I think both books drag on too long with the plot. I think it's written rather well, style wise. The world is fun, imaginative...

It has been a while since I’ve read it but I do plan on rereading Eragon and I do own the Eldest, but right now I’m all about Harry. But you did remind me to put the movie on my netflix account and the third book on my amazon wish list.

Ive read it and i can say that its superior to books 1 & 2. Paolini's writing abilities have increased noticably.
