Yes, I'm still writing a novel, and editing my other one that's already done. So, I spend like 5 hours a day writing.

I'm not trying to ignore Clana, but I'm enjoying it so much on the show right now that it doesn't drive me to create my own story :(

Unfortuntatly, soon, I'm sure that will change, but until then ...... I'll try to figure something out for this thread.

Or, I've been thinking about this for a while ..... I might post the Kalabel portion of the story on its own thread. I'd have to write a brief intro, and such, but how does that sound? Anyone interested in reading it as its own story?

I was at the edge of my seat at times, tearing up in others or jumping for joy. (my parent think I crazy). I had to be removed from my parents and friends computers because I was hogging it. And now they blame me for getting them hooked in your story and in the kryptonite site. Thanks Aj because of you and all the threads and stories people have put in. ALTERNATE ENDING TO KAL AND ISA'S STORY:

AUTHOR’S NOTE: To get you acquainted to where things in the story start to change, I’ve included part of the scene where Gertrude and Magistrate Wilkins are with Isa, just before Gertrude takes Isa’s soul. You’ll see when things start to change :)



“Take my magic then, please!” Isa said. “Take it and leave me.”

Both Gertrude and Wilkins burst with cold laughter. “Oh it’s not enough to take your magic, you foolish girl,” Gertrude said, pulling Isa up by the throat—though she was still not touching her. “I must take your SOUL! I must take all that is good from you. I must rob you of life’s happiest moments. I shall take every ounce of compassion and kindness you have. You shall be left with no memory of anyone you love—for love is the strongest of all forces, one that drives even the good to seek for revenge, to kill those who threaten those dear to them. Imagine what it will do for me!” She bent over, getting right in Isa’s face. “You shall be left a cold, heartless shell of who you once were. And I shall burn that shell by fire to seal your innocence within me.”

Isa at last felt the power to scream. “Kal!” she bellowed, hoping that by some divine miracle he that was close enough to hear her. “KAL!!”

Gertrude looked at Wilkins and he nodded. “That’s the man who revealed the power of the stones to her,” he said.

Isa had wondered if she saw shadows outside the window as she and Kal left her manor, after speaking of the stones. Wilkins must have been listening in.

Gertrude turned back to Isa. “Not only will you give me your soul, but you shall tell me all you know about the three stones of power,” Gertrude said, lifting Isa upright and speaking the spell, “Monstra.” Isobel knew that the word was Latin for ‘obtain’ which was exactly what the spell did.

A pink wisp of air left Isa’s mouth, speaking the words Gertrude commanded. Against her will, she revealed what Kal told her about the stones, and of the knowledge and power one would obtain if they united them.

Gertrude smiled, and Wilkins confirmed that it was the same information he’d overheard before. She turned back to Isa, who was pale and lifeless. “Tell me where the stones are hidden,” she said, again using the spell, “Monstra.”

The pink wisp left Isa once more. “China, Egypt, the garden.”

Wilkins perked up. “She has a garden on her country estate,” he said. “They must’ve hidden the stone there.”

Gertrude used the spell one more time to confirm that this was all Isa knew about the stones, then said, “I’m afraid, my dear, that the time has come.” She then dropped her flat against the hard stone floor.

Isa looked up, her eyes pleading for mercy. “Please, I beg of you,” she said over and over again, visions of Kal and Marguerite flashing through her mind. Their smiles, their voices—the deep love she felt for them. She thought of their future together as a family, the happiness she knew they’d have. She felt with all her heart that her daughter was alive—that Kal had saved her and was on his way back.

Isa was right.

Kal had heard Isa calling out to him a few minutes before this time. At that moment, however, he still had a dying child in his arms, gasping for her last breaths. Half-way to Egypt, Kal had finally thought of a way he could use the water element to save Marguerite and headed back to get it. But he didn’t expect that he would have to save both of the young ladies he loved so dearly. When he approached the home where Isa was staying, he used his x-ray vision to see what was going on inside and was terrified by the situation.

Kal’s first reaction was to burst through the door and rescue Isa, but Marguerite’s burning flesh reminded him of what her mother would want . . . Isa was willing to give up her own life, if necessary, to save her daughter . . . and Kal would honor her wish, as torn as he felt over what to do first.

Scanning the area once more for the stone, Kal saw the shape of it buried in the soil of the garden. He super-sped to it, gently placing Margie down on the soft grass, then threw back the large boulder and retrieved the stone.

He didn’t waste another moment, turning to Margie and touching her forehead with one hand, and holding the stone in his other. Kal closed his eyes and focused hard on transferring a portion of his Kryptonian ability to heal into the small child.

Margie instantly opened her eyes and looked at Kal. He smiled, a tear dropping from the corner of his eye. “There’s my baby,” he said. “Now, stay here and I’ll get Mama.” Margie was still weak, but she smiled back at him.

Kal burst into the home just as Isa was begging for Gertrude’s mercy. An instant sensation of evil enveloped Kal, something he had never felt. It was so strong, and Kal was in such shock from it when he reached Isa, that he stopped super-speeding before he’d realized it and fell to his knees beside Isa on the floor.

To Gertrude, Kal seemed to appear out of nowhere. Knowing he must be a very powerful wizard, she approached him with caution . . . looking down on him at Isa’s side. “I am Gertrude, the most powerful Sorceress on Earth. Give me your allegiance, and I shall spare your life.”

Kal devised the plan quickly . . . he didn’t have a moment to waste. He gripped one of Isa’s hands, and Isa felt the stone between their flesh. What was he doing?

Kal hurried to extend his free hand and grabbed Gertrude, transferring her powers into Isobel.

Isa’s body jolted hard and Gertrude shouted a spell as she stretched out her arms . . . then Gertrude screamed in agony. She had nothing within her, nothing but a sense of emptiness.

That was when Isa realized what Kal must have done. She glanced at Kal, saw his hint of a smile, then turned her attention on Gertrude . . . who looked terrified. Wilkins had the same shattered look on his face.

In an instant, Kal and Isa stood. Isa blasted Wilkins and Gertrude across the room—right through the walls. Kal could’ve taken care of them himself, but he wanted Isa to be the one to pay them back for what they had done.

When Isa and Kal stepped out into the streets, standing above their two victims, they found they were not the only ones there. Isa’s mother was staring in shock. “Isobel! How could you . . . no, it was surely he who did this.” She looked to Kal.

Isa smiled. “No, mother,” she said. “It was me.”

Isa’s mother swallowed, watching as Gertrude lay groaning in the dirt. “But how could you?”

“Things have changed,” Isa said, turning to face her mother. “And if I hear that you or anyone else continues to use their gifts to harm others, I shall be back to set you straight as well.”

Kal whispered that they should go get their healthy daughter from the garden. Isa felt the warmth of hot coals inside her. She had not dared to ask in all the panic if Marguerite had made it. In fact, for a fleeting moment, she had thought that she must not have survived if Kal was back so quickly, and without her in his arms.

Isa wrapped her arm around Kal’s and they walked toward the garden. “One last thing, Mother,” she said, glancing over her shoulder. “Gertrude is the Sorcerer you’ve been looking for, and Wilkins is her apprentice. Give them to the people and let them do what they must.”

Her mother was still speechless, standing in the road with a crowd gathering around them.

Kal and Isa made their way quickly to the garden, where a darling little girl was playing with a snail she had found in the soil. Isa gasped when she saw Margie, clinging onto her and twirling around. “My baby! Kal, you’ve saved her.”

“Mama, why are you sad?” Margie asked, wiping tears from her mother’s cheeks.

“Mama isn’t sad, sweetheart. I’ve never been so happy,” Isa said. “Our family is safe, and will always be together.”

“Let’s get out of here and make it official, shall we?” Kal asked, wrapping his arms around the two of them. “Hold on!”

Kal shot into the air, all of them looking down to the people in the street. The witnesses had wide eyes, and their mouths gaped with wonder as they saw a man, a woman and a child flying!

Kal and Isa were married that very night. Margie was as healthy and rosy-cheeked as ever at the ceremony. “Papa look pretty,” she said to Kal, giving his cheek a kiss as he held her on his hip.

“That’s the last time I comb my hair,” Kal whispered to Isa.

“I’ll be the one to decide that, dear husband,” Isa answered as they left the cathedral.

Over the years, rumors of a family of good witches circulated around Europe. It was said that if magic was used for evil, instead of for helping others, these vigilantes would teach the offender a critical lesson by taking away their powers. This was partially true. Kal and Isa perpetuated the rumors by tracking down an evil witch here and there, but their focus was more on keeping crime and sickness in check.

They traveled throughout the many countries, following rumors of crime sprees and tracking the assailants down. Then they’d move on again when they learned of epidemics which had a grip on a community. With the stone, Kal learned that if he only transferred a portion of his healing powers, the person would not only recover, but that he would regenerate soon after.

Kal’s weakness, however, was magic. He was especially vulnerable after giving a significant number of people some of his healing ability. Though Isa had been somewhat afraid of her powers at first, she at last decided to keep them so she could protect Kal when he needed it. They were a perfect team.

And they were also perfectly in love.

Kal’s insistence on staying on Earth was something that Kal’s father, Zor-El, did not approve of, but he was eventually persuaded by Kal that he was doing more good for the human race by using the stone than hiding it. He remained protector of the other two stones though, and insured their safety when needed.

Little Marguerite grew to be a beautiful young woman like her mother. She had a wonderful sense of charity for others because of her parents’ examples. She married a man that Kal very much approved of, and Kal and Isa had the joy of becoming grandparents . . . and Margie had the opportunity to be a gentle loving mother, just as Isa was to her.

And little did any of them know that many generations later, and on a separate continent, the paths of a young boy and girl from the same two heritages would cross again . . . and once more, love would prevail.

Thanks :D I think my next Clana story will be in an alternate-Smallville universe, where Clark and Lana don't know each other, but both end up working at the Daily Planet ..... right when Lois has her nails clawing into Superman, but thinks Clark is a dork.

And Lois and Lana aren't going to be the best of friends .... they'll be competing jounalists, after the same stories .... so of course, Superman will get tangled into there .... and so will Clark.

Anyway, that's my idea for now. It will be a romantic comedy of all silly things :lol:

Oh, yes, you're right, Mooman ...... Sheriff Ethan didn't die ..... he stuffed the other guy in the freezer ...... my bad, hee hee.

But, yeah I'd say being in public office in Smallville is a bad move. LIVING in Smallville is probably a bad move. Oh, I don't know, it might be worth it to see Clark Kent everyday. *sigh*

And no "sequel" to this is planned. But I MAY cross over some characters, like Jimmy Olsen and Mr. Olsen, into my new fic. They'd have the same personalities as they have in this fic, I think. Mr. Olsen will at least :D

Well, I did find out that my baby is a GIRL, I guess that's an announcement. (That's what the doc says anyway, we'll have to wait and see :) )

Well, ajfinn, I would LOVE to see how you do what Cardinal has done with "Bless the Broken Road" and show us how Clark and Lana start a brand-new relationship. But I would ALSO love to see a sequel to this story--preferably picking up where this left off. Then we could see what Superman would be like with Lana as his wife from the start.

In any case, hope all goes well. And endless congratulations on the baby. I hear "Lana" is a good name... :D

I had stopped watching Smallville because of season 4, but not entirely, there were just some episodes that were like - Huh - and acouple that were :confused:, but thanks to Aj and alot of the people in here writting the Clana/fics that I whatched S4 all over again and it, brought me back :D and I'm loving the 5s of Smallville.

I promise I won't give up on Smallville again.:D

I would have to say this story truly is a masterpiece. And you know what else I think? I think that if this was a book, it would be a bestseller, hands down.

Whoever said that u should write a novel about this is definitely right. This story had all the right elements. I'm sure i would still like it even if I barely knew who these people were. ~ The Daily Planet News Floor ~

“Stop drooling on your shoes, Clark,” said Lois Lane. “It’s disgusting.”

That’s funny. She didn’t think anything was wrong with my drool last night. At least not when it came from Superman’s lips.

“I’m not drooling. I’m yawning,” Clark said, rubbing his eyes as if he was tired. The truth was, he was about to start the room on fire as he watched the hot new reporter get settled into her desk. Her station was directly across from his own, but he hadn’t dared introduce himself yet. Of course, that hadn’t stopped him from checking her out with his x-ray vision through the high cubicle wall.

Clark had tried to find some relief from the heat at the ‘watering hole,’ as the staff called the water tank—but Lois joined him shortly after downing his third cup and rightly guessed his reason for fleeing the scene. And boy was it a scene. How can any creature be so beautiful?

Lois backhanded Clark’s chest. “Yawning is for wimps,” she said. “What were you doing up so late? It’s not like you have a social life.”

“Oh gosh, I don’t know . . . watching Star Wars, Star Trek, Battlestar Gallactica . . . anything a Desperately in Need of a Life guy does to keep busy.”

Lois rolled her eyes when she caught Clark taking another peek at the new reporter. “Her name is Lana Lang. And since I know you don’t have the steel to ask her anything yourself, she worked with Chloe at The New York Times. They also went to school together at NYU—graduating at the top of their class.”

“Yeah, I know,” Clark said, taking another long gulp of water. It wasn’t doing a thing to cool him down. Strangely, neither was the fact that Lois was standing next to him—the woman who held the official title Tormenter by Day, Semi-girlfriend by Night. He should at least feel some sort of guilt for eyeing a chick this way in front of Lois. But he didn’t. “Chloe already told me about her.”

What Chloe hadn’t told him was how breathtaking Lana was. She’d gone on and on about how Lana had an amazing talent for journalism, but hadn’t yet found her personal niche in the reporting world—despite the high praises of her superiors and readership.

Chloe had even given Clark the task of befriending Lana, because she was so nervous about her new job, which he’d have absolutely no complaints about if he could ever banish the frog he felt croaking in his throat. It seemed to be leaping around in his chest as well.

Lois stepped in front of Clark and pinched both his cheeks. “What I’m saying, Smallville, is that the girl is out of your universe. Way out! Like more out of reach than the moon, buddy.”

Clark smiled, wanting to say . . . You know, Lois. If you’d pay a little less attention to the big man himself, and a bit more to the real guy filling out the suit, you’d know that the moon isn’t truly that far out of reach for me.

He had made the trip twice last week, just for exercise.

Hey there. Relatively new fan of the show, ( a few months), and even newer to the boards (a few days). First, started reading this story yesterday, waded through all 193 pages, to finish earlier this afternoon. AJ, you are an incredible writer, and Ill be looking for you when your work gets published. Im an avid reader of, well most everything really, and this story is just as engaging as some of the great stuff out there, and better then a lot of the stuff that comes out these days. Great plot twists, humor, and the dialouge was dead on. There arent enough adjectives that I can use to describe this story. Excellent, Fabulous, stupendous, gorgeous, at times breath-taking, at times heart wrenching. The list could go on and on. Im eagerly looking forward to whatever it is you end up doing next, and maybe some novels in the near future.

Hey aj, a thought about this fic... I really like how you portray Lex here--as the slimy, snarky, evil Lex we saw in "Onyx". Oddly enough, the Lex in "HOT Off the Press" seems different--he's definitely a bad man through-and-through, make no mistake, but seems to lack that..."diabolical presence", so to speak. Was that intentional?

Honestly, I can't stand writing Lex, so I wanted him to have as little presence as possible in my new fic .. hee hee :) But he's murdering people, isn't that naughty enough for you?? :lol:

Anyway so far I'm only up to the part where Chloe meets Jimmy so I'm not even half way but so far I've been sucked in! I like seeing Clark being more open, and outgoing (he isn't as shy.). His attitude to when Chloe said she hasn't received flowers before was funny :P.

I'm glad you like the story :) It's been finished for nearly a year now, so it's exciting to see someone new read it! You're just getting to my favorite parts of the story, so I hope you'll enjoy the tale of Isobel, too.

As for Lex, I won't ruin that for you. Onyx is a great episode, so you'll have to see what happens :)

After you read this, I hope you'll read my new fic, "*HOT off the Press*. It doesn't have any spoilers for season 4 or 5 in it at all, since it's based on the premise that Clark and Lana never met until after college.

Well I'm quite relieved lol- I've been able to paste the whole story into a word document. It went up to 263 pages :O! Anyway now I'm at part 72- not far to go. Isabel has gone evil :( which is a shame; I'm curious whether she will go to back to her old self, and how Kal will react when he sees her and she doesn't remember him.
I liked the clark makeover lol. I can imagine how funny it would be if it were on screen! How funny if the girls taken a step further and freaked clark out by placing their hairbows!
The talk about the transference was good as well and lana's reaction to lionel's kiss! I don't blame her :lol:
Anyway I think I'll be finished reading it all by the weekend. I'll keep you posted ;)

Edit- Out of curiosity, why does Isabel allow the transference to happen? Is it explained later in the story?

Wow ....... now, I'm motivated to go write my update :) Hope you make it over to the other story when you get the time. It's much more lighthearted than this one ..... completely silly at times, but that's what makes it fun for me :D And it has links between every chapter, to the next one, so you don't have to scroll through pages to get to a new update.

I'd have to go back and find that particular part ....... but if I remember right, Isa didn't allow it, Gertrude used her magic to suck all of the good out of Isa, which increased her own power. Isa couldn't have done anything about it.

So basically, Isa was left without a whisp of goodness, completely compelled to do evil and seek the stones for her own purposes. She had no memory of Kal or Marg :(

Okay, now you're just making me sad! :lol: It made me cry to write that part of the story! Can't wait until you read Kal and Isa's alternate ending! Ahhh, much better :D

That fic was fabolous! I thought it was funny how lois was referred to as a 'energizer bunny month'. Great description- suits her fine ;). Mr. Olsen's preparation doing girly kicks and charlies angel was funny to visualise :lol:.
I read the bloopers as well :lol: . I was in hysterics :rotfl:. That was a great idea ;).
Anyway overall I like the writing style- the way it flowed and the variety of vocabulary. The balance between adventure and comedy was nice.
The only thing I haven't read is the alternaticve ending. I shall get to that tommorrow ;). I have to say this fan fiction has definately been worth reading! :cool:

That I can answer for you. In this story, none of Season Five happened--so there was no Brainiac, nor did Zod (though I still refuse to believe that the constipated, boring villain they had MR play WAS the real Zod) show up. Aj's referring to the end of Season Three, when Jor-El sucked Clark into the cave wall--we've all assumed that he ended up in a pocket of the Phantom Zone.

Yes, that's right :)

This fic was written between seasons 4 & 5, and by that time, our only assumption of where Clark went to through the cave wall was to some sort of Kryptonian/Phantom Zone -- and was reprogrammed as Kal-El.

I wrote this in about three months, by some miracle. It was a very boring summer, so I wrote every day :) Can't believe that was TWO years ago!!

I am embarrased to say this, but I somehow never read this story AJ. I just noticed it now and I am loving it. I think I found something to do over the next week or so whenever I get some free time.

Sorry, I've been extremely self-involved lately!! The good news is that the agent I submitted my novel to picked me up (yay!) and the novel has just been sent to five very big publishing houses, so now it's just the waiting game!!! Meanwhile, I've had to get a second book proposal ready and work on revisions of my other novel I finished before I started this latest one.

In other words, I'm writing writing writing and trying to raise three very active little girls. I'm very sorry that I haven't been able to spend time reading lately.

Okay, let's all stop talking about my novel on this board - and sorry, Treker, you've read everything I plan to write for SCRIPT. :D One day, I hope to get back to Clana, even if it's just a short story.

Till then ... I'm happy to still have such fantastic readers on k-site!! :D
