View Full Version : Did I miss some scenes?

OK, I saw in another thread that there was supposed to be a scene with Clark ripping the door off of Lex's safe. I can live with missing that - but people have been talking about the ship turning towards Lana as the stones were united - THIS is important. Anyone know if this is true, and if so what other scenes I might have missed?

There's a thread a few pages back now, that said don't watch the hdtv version. I'm trying to be careful about what I discuss obviously, but I just want to know if I've missed anything.

So there was no Clark ripping off the door? We just found him lying on the floor?

i've seen that the ship changes direction...not so much, like 40 degrees maybe
That was the camera angle, not the ship.

This is what I'm getting at - the first I saw of the ship was when Lana crawls up to it. There were no scenes of it in the air in the version I've seen.
Hmmm ... Well, the camera moves up a little, but that's it.

Okay, yes, the version you saw has no Clark ripping off the door to Lex's safe, but that DID happen. Now, what people are referring to about the ship is directly after Clark sticks the last stone in the pedestal, the stones become one crystal, and there is a cut to a field w/ what looks like a lone meteor falling, this meteor is flying diagonally across the back of the screen falling at about a 55 degree angle far from the camera, but, it seems to swoop toards the camera and it ends up crashing essentially right into the camera, and there is a huge explosion in the field. If you freeze frame, you can tell it is the ship, and then you can conclude that this is where Lana crashed.
I don't know if the version you saw has this(I think it does) but that is what happened. Maybe Jack is right and it is just the camera, but it definitely changes directions and acts as if it is flying.
Hope that helps!

I saw the scene when Clark was ripping the door off but when I downloaded it the scene was not on there.

Clark did rip the center section of the bookcase off the wall, which was basically the walk-in door to Lex's vault. Also, I thought the meteor which turned out to be the ship did take kind of a 90 degree left turn and start coming toward the viewer at the time the crystals were united. It seemed to me there was definite intention there.

That's not true, the version that I saw had Clark ripping the bookcase/door off of Lex's safe. I distinctly remember seeing that. I didn't even know that there were people who didn't get to see that. But like you said it's not an important scene so don't feel bad for missing it. However, I don't remember the ship turning but I may have to rewatch it again, I probably wasn't paying close attention to that part.

yeah, I totally missed the ship turning the first few times I watched it, I even missed that it was a ship! It does turn, you really can't deny it once you watch it closely. The question is, did it turn b/c it was out of control and crashing, or was it aiming for something (Lana)?
And you are right MBCorp, it was not an essential scene, w/ Clark tearing off the bookcase, but it should be seen. I know that if people used certain means to see the episode, though, they will not be able to see that part.:D

OK after reading the post in this thread I never noticed the ship until Lana crawled up to it. But after further reviewing of Commencement I did notice the ship as Clark has the crystal, you see the ship coming down and then do a 40 degree angle and then plowed into the ground.
Heads up you guys and thanks for noticing that.

Wow. I'm so impressed you guys noticed that ship in the metor! And as for the door being ripped off, that's so strange that a version of the finale didn't have that, what were the viewers supposed to imagine happened to make Clark fall on the ground? Weird. Bad network editors. That was one of my favorite moments. It's funny how Clark always rips stuff apart when all he has to do is tug on it to get it open. I always laugh in the episode Hothead from season 1 when Principal Kwan's car is on fire and instead of just checking the door handle, Clark punches the window out (not to unlock the door, in case it's locked - but just to make a cool FX, I guess). Then, of course, he rips the door off and throws it across the parking lot. Hee hee. Not a bit worried about anybody noticing his super powers. :) Gotta love our BDA.

I don't think it was the network's fault. Some people can't see the episode live, so they see it using other methods (ie downloading, or watching someone else's downloaded version) I happen to have heard from many people that the version source they got Commencement from missed about a minute after a commercial break. so this is the cause of this discussion. In this version, Clark hears the water crystal calling him, runs off, and then it fades into the scene w/ the Kents and Jason, then one w/ Lana and Lex at the helicopter. the next scene is w/ Clark on the floor. So the part missing is when Clark goes into Lex's office, x-rays the bookcase, grabs the stone after ripping the secret door off and then collapsing b/c the meteor eyes of the statue from China are also in the safe. I believe an extra "meteor countdown" is missing too.

yep thats what happens, Also if you play the scene in slow motion with the lone meteor falling you can definetly watch it change direction and then at the very last frame you see it take the triangle shape of the ship as it breaks through the meteor and hits the ground. I had to watch it twice to notice that part as well. I dont remember but didnt that meteor crash way before lana's helicopter crashed? So how could it be aiming for lana?

Wasn't aiming for Lana, but I thought it might have come to rest above the caves. Aren't they on Luthor property? And I don't think the helicopter got far.

Sophy, you make a point that has had me wondering for some time now. Think about the order that the scenes come at the viewer here:
They make a point of showing Clark connect the stones, and then it cuts to the ship crashing when the crystal is formed.
Then it cuts immediately to the ceiling shaking above the caves where Chloe and Lex are, almost as if a giant ship just crashed down about.
Then the story continues, but Lana ends up climbing up the side of the crater and a light falls on her as the ship opens. This is just after seeing Clark in the bright light of the Arctic/North Pole/ whatever.
So maybe the ship crashed down above the caves as a portal to and from the FOS. This is a tough theory to believe, though, because it would not be long before someone notices the ship besides Lana, so once it was hauled off to some lab, there would be no more portal...

Yes he ripped off the safe door. On the HDTV version I believe that scene was not included for whatever reason. I hope its on the Season 4 DVD set. :) Too bad Lex don't have video cameras pointing at his hidden safe lol same security that keeps people from coming into the mansion must have decided not to have cameras.

I have HD and I saw him ripping off the safe door. I think what has happened is that the people who watched the d/l episode off the i-net didn't see it cause the person who recorded it forgot to turn the thing back on at commercial break.

Yeah that bugs me a lot too...LuthroCorp doesnt have any cameras when Clark just walks around ripping stuff up and stealing stuff. Lex's mansion doesnt have any when he just walks around and does stuff. These people are RIIIIIIIIIIIIICH and paranoid as hell youd think theyd have a camera at every angle of their work and homes.

careful about talking about other methods of viewing the show.... some folks around here get rather uptight about that (however if it wasn't for those other means I would never have bought seasons 1-3 on dvd)...
I have all of season 4 on my computer but cannot wait to buy season 4.
But some people don't want to hear that... to them even saying download = evil and to be avoided at all costs...
even though I would not be a fan today without it.
