I can see where your coming from, but I think they just wanted to push Lex a little further down the dark side just to make it interesting. Transference was a good one off episode, but they wouldn't return to this theme for a season finale. And besides, assuming the stones can't be un-united, how would they ever switch back?

Anyway, in order for the transference to occur, they both have to be touching it. Lex touched it, but it was in Lionel's pocket, so Lionel never touched it.

Yeah that question has been tossed around about as much as the "What/Who is in the Space Ship" one. All I can say is we'll find out next fall.

I thought that at first too, but then Lex knew to go to caves, which lionel didn't. Remember, earlier he said "What good is the key if you don't know where the lock is?" I think it has to touch direct skin, and it didn't touch lionel's skin. As someone said, it was in his pocket. I, personally, thought that would be interesting.

Plus there was the line from lex to lionel: "You raised the son you always wanted". That would seem weird for lionel to reffer to himself as Lex's son, it wasn't like anyone would hear him and when he was Clark he had no trouble playing Lionel in Clark's body. So I'm betting on that its still Lex and lionel is the one who is catatonic.

You have a point there... If you back and re-watch Transefence (which I do often), the transfer doesn't happen until the stone is actually touching both people. One person holding the stone, and then touching the other isn't enough.

Remember the fight scene in the prison? Clark/Lionel had the stone with him the whole time, but he didn't change places with the "bad guy" that he kept punching - or with any of the other prisoners who touched him.. The transfer only happened after he touched Lionel/Clark with the stone.

I think that would be alittle too much if lex and lionel switched bodies. I think lex is just full on bad now. Besides i think lionel is still good, he protected clarks secret from lex in forever.

lionel is good... like he said earlier in the season, something from clark changed him... he knows clark is the chosen one and he will do anything to protect clark while clark is on his journey. lex is lex. he is just so obsessed with the stones and everything else, he has gone crazy.

Yeah I think Lionels "switch back to evil" was all just another plot of his. he can do more good as a bad guy than he can as a good guy hehe

This is amazing...... I would never have thought of that.......Lionel protecting Clark.......is Lionel going to continue to be good...against Lex being bad... like the dinamics.......in England the last episode was shown last night on cable and Sky on E4...hence new posts from England......we've finally caught up with you all.....:)
