Did anyone here think of 24 when the time was displayed on the screen? I know that device has been used before, but when it comes to timed television, 24 pretty much owns it at this point. Perhaps a tip of the hat to another show?
Haha yea, I don't watch 24 (well maybe seen like one or two).
Btw, this has been discussed here:

Thanks. I actually briefly tried to find if it had been discussed, but I guess I did an unbelievably bad job.

24, do it to show the time, not a count down.

I dont watch 24 either....I seems that that show is too far fetched to follow,I like Smallville better.
By the way when watching this episode did you had that
"Armageddon" feeling?I suddenly remembered the movies
Deep Impact and Armageddon.
But the counter was done for dramatic purposes....

The counter seemed anti-climactic to me...I kept waiting for it to go like 3-2-1 right before the meteors hit. That would have given it a little more purpose...

What I did found interesting was that when it got to 1:22 seconds and it showed the final Jonathan/Martha/Jason scene, I timed it (I was bored,) and it really was 1:22 seconds (right up until the meteor hit the house.) I thought that was pretty cool. :)

That is pretty cool. Whenever I see timed stuff like that in movies and on TV, I always wonder how loyal to the time they usually are.

It took me a few minutes after the episode end before I realise "Hey, what happened to the time thingy?"

When I saw the time thing I thought about 24 at once. It don't think the time thing made the episode better though.

Maybe I interpreted the post incorrectly but I'm not following you... Terrorists attacks are much more likely than FOTW attacks... I do agree that SV is a much better show.
24 kept coming to mind while I watched the show...

I think he was referring to the realistic aspects of each show- it's known fact that Clark Kent, a.k.a. Superman, did grow up in the small town of Smallville and was forced to battle the forces of evil on many an occasion. That Jack Bauer dude, totally made up.
Plus, an ancient witch possessing a young girl in hopes of finding a rock that fell from a planet that exploded light years away is far more likely than anyone making it through L.A. traffic in just a single commercial break.
What was this post about, again? Oh yeah. So my money's on it still being Aaron at the door.

You make a persuasive point, Bourne. Jack Bauer is quite a rocker. Heck, he almost rocks as hard as Tom Skerritt in The Parent Trap II.
