How about the fact that Jor El sounds EXACTLY like the actor who played General Zod in the films? I'm wondering if they're playing with us a bit.

Why would he warn Clark about a 'great danger' that ONLY he can stop?

You would think Marlon Brando (the guy who played Supe's dad in the movies) would be the voice, but nooo.... its Terrence Stamp (Zod).

Maybe Marlon Brando was too busy doing other things and TS was the only one who was available to at least pay homage to the mythos of Supes.

Just like how they could've at least put Margot Kidder (Lois) instead of killing her off like that.

Well, he could have been lying the whole time. He could hae simply been using everyone to facilitate his own return.

Clark doesn't talk to his father until the FOS is built, so it would fit pretty well that he's never actually spoke to his father yet.

Ok, that doesn't make any sense.

Why would the voice of Jor 'El keep forcing Clark to collect the stones?

The ship was already on its way to Earth when it was stained w/blood. So if it really is Zod talking to Clark, there's no need for Zod to tell Clark to collect the stones any further since he's (Zod) is released from his prison (ship/asteroid) since more than likely that the FOS has something that can stop whatever is in the ship.

Its like saying, "Oh Clark, KILL ME! I'm WIDE OPEN! I'm already warning you about myself and telling you that only you can stop me... so PLEASE KILL ME!"

I'm thinking that Jor-El meant for Clark to get the stones so he could transfer himself into Clark's body and be all not-dead and stuff. But things went horribly wrong, presumably because Clarks biomom got involved on the side and went about insuring a future for her son, perhaps because of Jor-El's poor attitude and destructoplanetary tendancies. Now Jor-El, or at least a large chunk of his brain, is trapped inside of Lionel and will start burning him alive as Lionel isn't really built for that sort of thing. The dark ship Lana finds is /was meant to be Clark/Jor-el's mate, but has likewise been tampered with. Maybe his cousin got subbed at the last minute, or a couple of criminals escaped from the Phantom Zone. Only time will tell.

Doesn't make any sense? You mean like a show about a man with superhuman abilities?

Perhaps the stones need to be reconnnected for Zod to be released? Didn't you see the Blank episode? Your "logic" doesn't work here in Smallville.

Hmm, he would only send his ONLY son to earth just to take over it? What a horrible father.

lol.

Umm, ok. You should calm down.

Maybe they should make Lex into a kryptonian if you're so warped up about logic.

Maybe a friggin' clown should pop out of the ship instead.

You do know Marlon Brando is deceased, right?

And Margot Kidder had ill feelings towards the show because she felt it was somehow exploiting Christopher Reeve so she decided to not return. I hope that sheds some light on this part of the conversation. :)

Yeah, but that doesn't mean he couldn't have voiced Jor 'El back in S2 and he died last July, plus he was still doing work beforehand.

Which is why imo he had no time to voice Jor 'El (because of schedule and his condition at the time).

So its not a coincidence that Stamp's the voice of the current Jor 'El.

I didn't know that one about Kidder though.

Yeah, I know what you mean.. but, he's been acting kinda jazzy for a while and I'm sure he would've asked for too much money for the appearance. But, they will use footage of him in the new Superman movie though.. :P

A clown would be better than the Isobelle story arc. Calm down? If I wasn't calm, I WOULD BE TYPING LIKE THIS!!!!

I'm just trying to say that for some people to claim that other forum members theories somehow lack sense, when we've already seen the writer's -- for whatever reason -- throw witches, native american caves, and wire fu into the superman lore... well, it's quite silly.

Isnt' it though?

I'm not really dogging on your theory, i'm just playing with ya.

It'd be cool if were Gen. Zod no doubt.

I think it would suck if Jor-El turned out to be Zod. We would have just wasted 2 years of Smallville. Then again, it would explain why Jor-El is "evil", but whatever. :p

Unless the rest of the cast and crew worked for free, I doubt they could have afforded Brando. And if I recall correctly, he was afterward not terribly keen on having done the move in the first place.

Terence Stamp does a fine job as Jor-El, and it's a nice nod to the movies. I don't think there's any Zod connection beyond the actor's previous role, however.

Myself, I'm hoping that it's not Zod or any other Kryptonian villain in the ship. The appearance of beings with those powers would make Superman's eventual debut in Metropolis less unique and dramatic.

Terence Stamp was asked about appearing I understand but at his age he preferred to stick to the voiceover as JorEl. General Zod would be a formidable opponent but it wouldn't synch with the movies and therefore could be confusing. Surely Smallville could create a new unique-to-Smallville villain, seeing as how they did such a great job with Chloe and fleshing out Lex's father as Lionel.
I'd like to see a villain that was not a FOTW once in a while. Should be interesting to see just what they do with it. I hope they have some kind of game plan in mind and don't intend to make it up as they go along.

Yeah, I hope they have a game plan also. I hope that they have a series outline and they are just trying to get there. Like saying "Okay at the end of season 2, we want him to mee Jor-el, at the end of season 4 we want the FoS to be introduced. and so on and so forth.

I guess the ship probably has some form of the eradicator in it. -
