I wonder if the idiots employed by the producers ever saw congealed human blood that spent 12 hours in open air? I'll give them two hints:
- it's not shiny.
- it's not crimson red.
Speaking of "blood", the one on Kreuk's face reminded me of the "injuries" that the Japanese character in "Orgazmo" gets when a bunch of gangsters savage him for 5 minutes - a tiny 3 cm "cut" under the eye, made with red lipstick. And even though it's intentional, it still looks more realistic and less ridiculous than Kreuk's "wounds" did...

One question, did you see Lana's leg? That thing was gross and messed up!

Well they did probably blow all the budget on the CG.
Maybe the stone has magical properties to keep the blood from congealing :p

i dont want to sound gay or nothing but orgazmo is kick ass.
smallville is a tv show and not a high budget movie. of course they have awsome special effects that should be in movies but they need to save money where they can get it.

I thought Lana's make up was weak too. But I loved the finale anyway.

I'm betting the ludicrous "wounds" were not caused by the budget. A gadget store set to create realistic bleeding cuts costs two-three euro/USD.
I'm betting the reason for the wounds' look was closer to something like that: "Ewww, those wounds are, like, too gross! I can't look like that! I'm, like, too pretty! Did you, like, know I was, like, voted The Prettiest TV Girl Ever by the, like, presti... prastig... prosti... good magazine 'Da Best TV Mag'? Well, I waaas! Make these wounds look, like, cute! Or you're, like, so totally fired!"

thats funny.
another idea of why it may have been that way is because for television making it look too real would be gross kinda of like with the episode where the baby grew fast they didnt actually show that girls stomach explode cause then pieces of blood and guts and flesh would shoot all over the place.
I dont think KK had any say in the makeup. She is professional enough that I doubt she would have objected to something more realistic.. KK is not like Lana..
