Members list?

Is anyone else having trouble accessing the members list? I just got a message saying it was disabled. I kind of need to see it, so I'd appreciate it if anyone can tell me if that's a permanent or temporary disablement! Thanks.

Al I understand spam can be a problem, but how can we pm people who we need to PM?

Should we just look for their for their most recent post? Cause it's kinda hard to make them a buddy when you cant copy and paste their name on to your buddy list.

I wanted to have an avatar made, so to find the screen name of the person I was recomended to talk to I clicked on many different threads in the Fanart section. It took me nearly 3 hours to find her name. This only hurts the honest members. If someone wants to spam, they'll find a way. If you want to PM someone for legitimate reasons, then sucks for you.

If you know part of the screen name just click the search button on the upper right. Put in the name or partial name. Make sure the "match partial name" and "Show results as posts" is chosen.

Problem was, I thought I did, but I kept spelling it wrong.

I know she used to do videos. And she did this specific video thing from season 2. I was looking to see if she could give me the link to the downloading site. So I could get her video.

Was is about a certain character. Do you remember any songs in the video?

There are other ways of searching a forum. Go into the forum and click on Thread Starter it will give you all the names in alphabetical order. Just remember that the default is to only show one months worth of posts. So you must select "from begining".

Uff well I guess that's the only choice I'm left with. It's just it was a nice video. I think the video focused on Clark and Lex. But it's alright. Thanx anyway Disco.:)

First off - Disco, I love your user text. :lol:

Second, this sucks. I usually don't - scratch that. I NEVER complain about anything you guys enforce here, but I have to say this SUCKS. It is so hard to go through threads in the fanart section, like I know Sharkman and Darkseid were trying to do. I realize PM spamming sucks too, but I'd honestly rather be PM-spammed than not be able to use the Members List function.

I believe the PM spamming they're talking about might have to do with recruiting members for other boards.

I could be wrong and there might actually be an idiot who goes around spamming the PM's just for fun.

Anyway... it's possible they might turn the member list back on when things calm down. But don't get your hopes up.

For now you will just have to find other ways to search.

How does disabling a member list prevent spam? People can just click on the active users who are online and send them spam anyway. And since this is private messaging an automated spam sender is probably unlikely. Someone would have to click each individual name to send the spam to. So is that really the reason it was disabled because to me it seems unlikely.

I totally agree. Disabling the member list won't stop someone from spamming PM's.

I believe there is another reason that it's not accessible anymore but don't think I'm at liberty to discuss it here.

To bring the thread back on topic:

As I posted in another thread, it's a lot easier to go up and down an alphabetical list and keep track of who you've PMed rather than clicking random names on the board. The Members List was being used to spam, so it was disabled. End of story.
