If the show follows the movie at all, Clark went to the Fortress of Solitude to learn the knowledge of the universe. In the finale Jor-el mentioned how the stones where there to help clark learn the knowledge of the universe. So the question is in the movie he was there for 6 years and then left as Superman.

I know there is the 'no tights, no flight' rule, but honestly if he does not develop into superman in season 5 it would be pretty stupid.

In the movie:

-There was no meteor shower that came down with Kal-el's rocket.
-Lex had never been to Smallville.
-Lois had lived in Smallville.
-Perry had never been to Smallville.
-Kryptonite didn't alter humans.
-Smallville wasn't so close to Metropolis.

In case you haven't noticed, Smallville does not follow the movie. It's an original take on the myth - which I think is a good thing.

It may have not been as large a meteor shower, but since Kryptonite was found and used by Lex in the first movie... I'd have to say there was a meteor shower of some sort. Or... a meteor drizzle if you will. :p

Ok there are meteors coming, and he sees them coming, WTF does he walk slowly?

When he grabs the stone, he walks slowly, after he gets into the cave, he walks slowly. I mean come on, each second wasted is another dead 5 year old. Sheeesh.
