Yeah they could have at least continued it since this season was the weakest and that was one of the only good episodes....in the season of course.

I thought for sure we'd see the fos, I screamed "****!" at the top of my lungs when Clark threw that stone and then to be continued showed up on the screen.

I agree, it was a good cliffhanger and will definitely make people that much more eager to see season 5. Man, I don't think I'll make it through the summer, lol. I want to find out what happens next!

But we KNOW that he is going to be going to the FoS, and that throwing the stone will construct it... that is, if you've seen the original Superman, you know that this what will happen.
So why not at least just show the stone landing, the snow & ice breaking up, and the FoS beginning to erect itself?? Did they not have the finances to pull it off, or what? If they start S5 with the FOS already constructed and Clark inside... oh ho, I will be a tad bit upset.

Usually when they start a new season, they skip the summer and start with "3 months later". Hopefully they won't do that this time!

they didnt do that with the tornado between season 1 and 2, the summer came between the first and second episode of season 2. i see them doing that again.

What I screamed at the TV when "to be continued" came on can't be posted on a family-rated board :) One has to expect cliffhangers, but there's still SO much that needed to be brought together.
Is Jason dead for good (I hope so)? I mean I'm only asking cuz the actor is in a new series next season. And if he is, I hope the Kents are OK...it's not time for them to be gone.
What was with Lana saying "goodbye?" Because SHE'S departing, or because CK will see the FoS built and he will more or less be gone?
Dang, folks in SV have it ruff....can't get a prom in without crisis, now can't even have a freaking high school graduation!
Who's posting that this season sucked? You're smoking the wrong stuff! SV ROCKS (the rocks would be invincible if it weren't for the load of COMMERCIALS tonight!). This is one of the few shows I really watch intently, I admidt it, but the development of the seasons has been outstanding...and so much has gone on this season that I could use DVDs of the whole season and start watching them until S5 just to soak it all in again.
Now to ponder about the developments of S5......

I LOVED THE ENTIRE FINALE, BUT THE CLIFFHANGER WAS PUT TOGETHER SO WELL, IT MAKES YOU WONDER ABOUT EVERY CHARACTER

i am the WORST person when it somes to any kind of suspense!!! when i saw the words "to be continued" come on the screen i just froze and seriously had a break down trying to figure out how i was going to cope for 4 or 5 months not knowing what happens next i mean there were soo any amazing twists at the end and they just left ya hanging!!

i don't know about you guys, but just when you think all of the FOTW's are almost gone, another meteor shower comes. now they'll never run out of freaks.
i didn't scream at the end, i screamed in the clana kiss. i kept asking my mom afterward "Did they REALLY kiss? I mean, it wasn't, like, a dream or anything?" man, AlMiles, let her go.

Why can't they? It's not like they haven't done that with any of the other seasons. :D

I think I may have to start re watching seasons 1-3 again. I did that when they took the breaks in the seasons, cause I need my Smallville.
This was a better cliffhanger than that bludgeon they used to smack me across the face last year... (I don't need to believe the character is in mortal peril to be in suspense over their future.. its just a cop-out) They mixed it up alot better with dicoveries, death, and desparation. My only criticism is that the FOS was something they had been building towards the entire season, and to not even show a glimpse of it seems to violate that promise of expectation. There is no suspense over what the stones mean.. its been known it was the FOS for awhile.. The suspense is in how it will impact Clark's life. So why not give us a glimpse. But other than that minor quibble, the cliffhangers were well devised.

That must have been one of the most evil cliffhangers in TV history :) So many open points to answer. Now I'll have to wait months to know how the story continues ... ARGH! It's bad enough in comics, and there you only have to wait around a month ;)

I think there would have been a better cliffhanger if they ended the show right before Clark put the third stone in the thing in the cave (but that would've bothered alot of people)
