Ok, that was awesome. The clock at the end was great and it reminded me so much of 24.

I liked it, nice touch.

Some people make such a big deal about how much time each episode covers, now we know.

It's not as if 24 was the originator of putting a clock in their episodes...

24 uses it as a way to keep track of time, while Smallville is using it as a countdown. The two are completely different...

I loved when it got down to 5 minutes left :P

Well said. That countdown use of clocks was used pretty well in this episode and kept that sense of urgency in the air.

Uhhh..... the first time I saw it, I thought is was a countdown for the Batman Begins preview. LOL

Some people on this board need to take the corncob right out of your butt.

I have never seen so many people so touchy about something that isn't similiar at all. GEESH.

That countdown was for the can of whop ass the Meteors was going to bring LOL.

It actually reminded me of Independence Day when the laptop is counting down to checkmate when the aliens attack. I liked it made it fast pace.

Sorry. I guess I wasn't totally annoyed with it, but knowing how TPTB like to "borrow" ideas and scenes from other TV shows/movies, that countdown just screamed out "HEY!!, that reminds me of '24'! Jack Bauer is gonna hunt you down, AlMiles!!!".

Exactly great point. I remember in a episode of Knight Rider Michael and K.I.T.T. where going after a bomb and there was the clock counting down until the bomb was gonna go off

It was Season 2, episode called: Brother's Keeper

I also agree about skttrbrain said. Why is everyone acting like 24 was the originator of it? For Commencement it was a countdown, for 24, it is just to show what hour of the day it is. The two are different.

Okay the 24 clock counts up, Smallville counted down. The Smallville clock included hundredths of a second. 24's doesn't. But most significantly, the Smallville clock didn't have that "deet DEET deet DEET" sound -- the most important aspect to the 24 clock ;)

... less than a week till the 24 finale! woo hoo!!!

I don't think it matters whether it was going up or down- the way the numbers were presented (on black, same font) and how they were put before/after commercial breaks was just like 24. They were very alike. Things don't have to be exactly alike to the last detail to just remind someone of something else. Simmer down, now.

Don't you mean both shows like Knight Rider? Episode: Brother's Keeper where Michael and K.I.T.T. had to race to stop a bomb and it was ticking down

Premiered: September 1, 1982

There was an episode of Lois & Clark that had a countdown to a meteor crash, maybe that's where they got the idea.

I must say that L&C worked it much better, though, because the impending disaster was the focus of the episode, unlike in Commencement, where the focus was on the stones. I wasn't going "oh no, everyone's goingto DIE!", I was too busy wondering how the whole stones story was going to play out, and whether we would see the FoS, etc. For me the whole meteor shower part two was not at all important to the story.

No, not like Knight Rider. As I said, the numbers were presented in the same way (on black, same font, at break). Good call bringin' up Knight Rider, though. It'd have been sweet if it made a point.

I loved it it made a great effect. It really made me realize that all the episode was right then instead of spread it out over several days.

The Chloe cut is gone *sob*

Lex = Hellen
Clarck = Alicia
Lana = Johnathan
