I loved it!.........best season finale so far............it made the whole season make sense nicely (the three stones). The Blueish crystal that clark uses to create the fortress of solitude was a peice of kryptonite in the Superman movie, and that final scene from commencement was great because it really signified a new beginning for clark....

And the theme that they played at the very very end (right into the credits) was incredible; sounded like a remix of the superman theme...btw, if anyone can help me find that theme track, i would be most grateful.

Skies.......

What did I think of Commencement?

I liked it very much. The best scene I liked was the Clark, Jonathan and Martha scene.

Clark, Jonathan and Martha

Jonathan: Clark, great. Why don't you help me secure the truck.

Clark: You're going to have to go without me.

Martha: What?

Jonathan: Do I have to remind you, Clark, that the last time we had a meteor shower, it was full of Kryptonite?

Martha: If the same thing happens today, it could kill you--you have to come with us.

Clark: I spoke with Jor-El.

Martha (whispered): No!

Clark: He (Jor-El) told me to find the other 2 stones right now and unite it with the one in the cave.

Martha: No, you're my son! You're not going to go on some suicide mission!

Jonathan: Clark, you may be stronger than steel, but you are not invincible.

Clark: I know, Dad, but I'm the only one who can do this.

Jonathan: All right, but I want you to listen to me right now. All the years that your mother and I spent raising you from a...wide-eyed toddler running around on this farm to the man who is standing in front of me right now...was for this moment. You do this, son. You make us proud.
(They all hug each other).

Martha: Those meteors can kill him, Jonathan.

Jonathan: I know that, sweet-heart. But if we have faith in our son, then we can't let that faith waver now.
(Martha sobs).

This was my favorite scene for 1 reason. The best speech that Jonathan Kent made to Clark Kent was, "All right, but I want you to listen right now. All the years that your mother and I spent raising you from a ... wide-eyed toddler running around on this farm to the man who is standing in front of me right now ... was for this moment. You do this son. You make us proud." That was the best part of the scene.

Another favorite scene I liked was Clark saving the little boy in the nick of time. The little boy was running around looking for his truck. His father was desperately looking for him. Just before one of the meteors hit the ground, Clark super-speeds to save the little boy in that nick of time. (I hope Clark will be saving other people's lives in the nick of time, in the near future. Then he'll really become Superman).

Another great scene I loved was the Lana and Clark scene when Lana visits him in the barn. She tells Clark that she found the stone she has in her hands from China. I loved her quote when she said to Clark, "Somehow I know that this stone was meant for you, Clark," then she goes on to say to Clark, "I love you." Clark responds with, "I love you too."

Definately a superb episode all the way through !!!

Loved the Clois moments in the kitchen & the loft. The merging of the stones. Clark saving the little boy. The second meteor shower. No matter how many times I watch it I get chills. That's how awesome it is :D Jonathans speech to Clark, cried a little. Chloe seeing Clark in the cave surrounded by white light. Lionel going into a kryptonian coma ( if you can call it that ) Lex embraces the dark side..

Great episode. I loved that it was longer than a regular episode, like all season finale's should be! The suspense was great and I liked all the major and sub-plots. I'm very glad the Isobelle plot was dropped within the first five minutes. Chloe shoving Lex into the wall! Lex going nuts when he found Chloe after she saved Clark. It's definitely one of my favorite episodes.

Commencement is a monumental season finale because it's the end of the high school years for Clark, Lana, and Chloe as they move into the real world. They ended that era with the second meteor shower. However, this is seen as a solution to the problems concerning the 4th season as this was a season that changed the show when they introduced Lois Lane and the first of other DCU heroes, Impulse Bart Allen.

The reason that this was a solution to the problems in the 4th season was because Clark was not actively involved in the search for the stones, which was the season storyline than about Clark's graduation from high school. Instead, Lex and Lana were involved and were in the center of the storyline.

The character of Jason Teague has played out, but he was an extraneous character who served no purpose to Clark's journey overall. With Commencement, the 4th season would have been incomplete. To sum up the 4th season, the journey was weak but the endpoint was strong.
