Looking a the posts it seems like this poll was done around the end of season 4. While the witch Lana plot was annoying(i always thought if they took the witch Lana part out of season 4, it would be hands down the greatest season ever of smallville), Lana wasn't yet at full blown annoying mode yet.

I admit that I voted on this thread... but the more I think of it the less good I feel about that. I mean do we really need to put these two up on judging? Both characters have positive and negative attributes. Why isn't that good enough? Why ask for some final result on who is better? While I certainly like seeing one more then the other generally does that really make one "better" in some definitive way? And why is always the girls that get these types of threads anyway? Why aren't male characters put up in this kind of competition? It feels ugly in some subversive way that I cannot quiet place...

Ever since Teri Hatcher's portrayal of Lois, I've been in love with that character. Erica Durance has taken that "obsession" to a whole new level.

Other than STM, I had very little exposure to Lana. I did love SV Lana - if nothing more than for her great beauty and sweet disposition early on. However, intentional or not, tptb created a truly flawed character in Lana. While there are times that she gets a bad rap from people here, there are times that she doesn't get enough blame for her actions and the resulting consequences. Point in case is Season 6. Clark won't share his secret with her and she runs off to be with Lex. All that followed that decision was Lana's fault and her flaws really showed in a big way.

Lois is rock steady. What you see is what you get and she gives no quarter. I like that. I like a tough but vulnerable woman who is comfortable in her own skin and does not depend on others to take care of her. Erica is breathtakingly beautiful too and is adorable portraying Lois too. Snarky, straightforward, fearless (sometimes more than what is good for her), and quite sentimental (although it is well-hidden).

The steady character that Lois is makes her better overall for Clark and really for any guy than Lana who is stunningly beautiful (at least KK is) but has some serious character deficiencies that make her dangerous and unpredictable in a relationship - personal or professional.

If I had to choose between those two (which ideally neither one of them would be my choice for Clark, I would much rather see him with Chloe) then I would choose Lana because she's less annoying than Lois. Lois is too annoying for me to want to see her end up with the hero. Lois emasculates him. She castigates him at every opportunity. She's constantly being critical of him putting him down for no apparent reason other than to insult him. I don't care if its in the disguise of bantering, besides how childish is that? If you have feelings for the guy then treat him like a normal human being and show some respect. Don't act like an eighth grader and pretend you don't like him when you do. Be an adult and mature about your feelings. No one deserves that kind of abuse in a relationship.

when the show first aired i was into the clark and lana relationship but after awhile it got boring. The whole back and forth thing that they did was getting a little irritating. Clark always felt that he had to be someone else for lana because he thought that was what she wanted. I always felt that he could never be himself around her. He had to put up a front with her. I think clark loved lana theres no doubt, but he didn't love her enough to spend the rest of his life with her. I always felt that lana was clark saftey net.
I feel lois is the perfect women for clark, mind you that there is no such thing as the perfect man or woman because no ones perfect. when lois first enter the scene and her reaction to clark was priceless. There was alot of chemistry between them. You could tell that clark was falling for lois, but he kept his distance with her because he was with lana. I guess on some level clark knew that lana wasn't the one he is meant to spend the rest of his life with.
Clark was able to be himself around lois. She was able to challenge him and keep him on his toes. I think Clark likes a woman that is strong, assertive and independent and lois fits that role. When clark first met her he found her annoyed, but at the same time he could not stand to be around her. He's more laid back with lois not uptight like he was with lana.

Lana made the wrong choices and that changed her a lot. Since Lex, she´s got a dark side that will always be with her. Lana´s sweeter from the outside, but if people don´t tell her their darkest secrets she mistrusts them, and that´s a quite childish thing. She should learn how to respect people´s private lifes before asking for confidence.

Lois´s ruder in her way of acting, but with her, what you see is what you get. She talks first and thinks in the second place. She accepts people the way they are and don´t try to change them. She respects others keeping secrets from her. In that sense, I think Lois is more mature than Lana (or maybe Lana was soooo insecure, but that doesn´t justify her actions).

Anyway, JMHO: I prefer Lois muuuuuuuch more (and she knows how to have fun!!).

I love Lois, but IMO the ONLY character who's managed to make SV last this long is Clark, he is the heart of this show for me

Folk are sick if they can't see how happy in love for the 1st time in CK life & it sure as hell wasn't Lana who put that smile on his face.

Lana was his 1st but it's clear she's not the last or the best.

Lana is 1st love, Lois is the greatest love. It's very established Lois does everything better then Lana but most importantly she's is the "dream girl" of CK's boyhood desires....it wasn't Lana.

Maybe if Lana wasn't written so badly, I would like her too, like I like the Lana Lang from Superman:TAS and other versions of Lana. Lois will always be number one, though. Clark is very positive and manly around Lois. I cannot say the same about his behavior around Lana

That hospital scene from "Shattered" still irks me! She blamed Clark for the horse attacking her! Clark would never do that, and he didn't have control over that. Clark actually believed it was his fault, not crazy Lex's fault.:mad:

I still say that horse should've won an Emmy, Gloden Globe, SAG, and People's Choice Award.:D

Wow! This thread is 6 years old! Whoa!

This is just asking for trouble but now that the series has finally ended, I am truly hoping that the fan feud will end as well.

As a SVLois fan, I really do understand (specifically the hate for the character not the actress--I'll never understand that!) that Smallville started with the Clana relationship and I never would have thought that it would end with Clois.

Most might think that it should end where they began but I really thought they'll end with Lori while Clark is in college, with the ending/finale that he's about to meet Lois at the DP. I presumed this outcome on the basis that Lois Lane in Smallville is a "no-go" from the WB.

But Lois' entry into the story was green-lighted and since I did not know the online community then, I never knew the shipper wars. I fell in love with the character and watched her episodes in SV only, so I only learned of the seasons' story arcs thru posts here in KSite; reading comments/arguments/counter-arguments certainly made me aware of what's been happening over-all in SV but not enough to watch these Lois-less eps.

So, Lana or Lois?

Choice is subjective. Everyone's free to choose. SV's Clark certainly did!

I don't hate Lana. Actually recently I come to appreciate the character a little more. She wasn't all evil like some paint her to be :lol: but if I should choose between Lois and Lana, there is no competition. Lois is awesome and I think all around better character.

She was so, so, so, so incredibly far from the comics "Lana" that it is just funny.
Lois's evolution into the iconic Lois Lane was much more believable and better handled than Lana as a character ever was.

The only thing Lois didn't have in the beginning was a reporter's job and brunette hair otherwise she was dead on Lois. Lana's character didn't even get the right hair color;)
