View Full Version : Movies that are so stupid/awful that you love them!

What movies do you enjoy that as you watch them, you think to yourself, 'this movie is so stupid!' but you laugh and enjoy them anyway?
A couple of my favorites are "Pootie Tang" and "Dude, Where's My Car?" :D Has anyone here seen Pootie Tang? Its that movie that was spun off from the "Chris Rock Show" about that guy who talks a bunch of jibberish who becomes a superhero, ladies man, and r &b star! He uses the belt from his pants to beat criminal ass, and says things like "I'm gonna sine your pitty on the runny kine!" Sa da tay, my damie.
Of course, the great "Dude, Where's My Car?" So stupid, so great.
The c o n t i n u u m Transfunctioner is a mysterious and powerful device, but it's mystery is only exceeded by it's power... ZOLTAN!! Dude!! SWEET!! :p
Nuff said!
Dont get me started about "Dawn of the Dead."

I didnt think Dawn of the Dead was awful. I thought the original was. IMO it was better than 28 Days Later...I thought was lame compared to Dawn.

DUDE!!! SWEET!!!
I loooooove (and own) Dude Where's My Car?
In fact this may be my new favorite thread, because I have notoriously terrible taste in movies. I actually *prefer* mindless comedies. If they're musicals, even better!
I love and/or own:
Fat Albert
From Justin To Kelly
The Brady Bunch Movie (and its sequel)
Elf
Barber Shop
The Cable Guy.
And yet I've never seen A Beautiful Mind.
From Justin To Kelly is my personal favorite. It's so bad, it's brilliant. There's this one scene where Justin and Kelly are at a party, and looking for each other, and they're SINGING A DUET IN THEIR HEADS. But wait. As if that weren't bad enough, everyone at the party is dancing in rhythm to the song in their HEADS!
I can't recommend it enough. It's pure unadulterated bliss.

Dude Where's My Car? is definitely one of those for me. Now, I want to watch it and one of stupid friends lost it.
A good bit of the Jim Carrey movies are really stupid, but I enjoy them, and I've seen most of them way too many times.

Dawn of the Dead was AWEFUL!! :) They shouldve called that movie Dawn of the Plothole...
(spoiler alert for those who havent seen the movie... should you care?)
-why didnt the zombies follow through where the protagonists broke in?
-why would they go through the trouble of undoing a toilet bowl to bust through the store window? why not use something else, it was a sporting goods store!
-why would that guy still love his zombie family so much?
-when did they turn back on the circuit breakers?
-why the hell did they let that nasty gargling zombie lady in on that wheelbarrow?
-why would you turn on a chainsaw inside of a moving vehicle?
-how do people who are untrained in the use of firearms able to shoot sidearm while running with dead-on accuracy?
Just a few reasons why this movie was so so so so dumb...
Has anyone seen that old Steve Martin movie "The Jerk?"
"You mean I'm going to STAY this color?!!" :rotfl:

Actually 28 Days Later had the majority of plotholes, and things that you listed arent plot holes lol. Its easy to figure out what they did. I mean in any movie you dont get a road map, but Dawn of Dead was very straightforward.
-Miki Phefif's character lost all reality. He promised his wife that the baby would be born, and he kept his promise. He lost all reality around him. That was pretty straightforward to understand since it was equivlant to a mental breakdown.
-They were down stairs when they burned the Zombies, and turned them on then. Your suppose to assume they did their task since the lights were on.
-Did you see that old lady weight? How in heck are they suppose to carry her with all the things zombies around. It was obiviously a last resort.
-The guy who created the chainsaw told you why to use it. When the zombies were on the side to get them off. If the zombies were on the side of the buses it could easily tip over. Again straightfoward considering the fact it almost did tip over.
-The nurse wasnt dead on accurate, and you can tell they were using the zombies as firearm pratice outside with Randy. And two in horror movies they get dead on accuracy pretty fast.

Funny? Okay, I thought Saw was funny and stupid lol. Everyone has their different type of scare I suppose. Yea, 28 Days Later was not appealing to me. I wanted a good zombie movie, and it was lame. The characters werent as loveable as they were in Dawn. I wanted them all to die in 28 Days lol.

Speaking of horror films -- which I think Dawn of the Dead, etc. are supposed to be -- a lot of people I've spoken to thought the movie "It" was scary....I thought it was quite funny and border line dumb... *shrug* I didn't get "The Fog" either....(but I'll see TW in the new one, LoL)

"It" is scary if you saw when you were a little kid. I did, and ever since then I've been afraid of clowns. If I was an adult I wouldve been scared, but being a little kid you would be. Its similar to the Chucky thing....which didnt scare me but my sister lol.
I dont love horror movies to be scared, but I just love watching them. I love all gendres of film. IMO Japanese Cinema has the best horror movies, and American adaptations....except The Ring 2 lol.

Frankenstein Unbound, directed by Roger Corman, which shows it's credentials. John Hurt and Raul Julia star (and don't do too badly with the dross they're given).
Black Mask 2: City of Masks featuring wrestlers turning into weird animals. Ron Van Dam has a role that will truly impress no-one. Sadly the superior first installment was not called 'Town of Masks'.
Both are terribly bad movies in a way that is highly entertaining.

This isnīt really a movie, but a 15 minute long tv series in 16 episodes. It was called "Snutarna", which is Swedish for "The Cops" and they spoofed police dramas, mostly Starsky and Hutch and they had borrowed some stuff from The Naked Gun. There were these two former colleagues, Henry and Jan-Olov, who had returned respectively from Moscow and Washington D.C. to take on a crime wave in Stockholm. Some of the challenges they faced were a suburban mafia, a shipowner who wanted to blow up an island to make room for his new boat and KGB agents assassinating Russian stand up comedians. Everything from the script, the gags and the acting was by far the worst you could ever see, still it made me laugh my @$$ off.

I swear there's more but I honestly can't think of any right now. If it's stupid...I love it. :D

Zoolander ... heh, heh ... 'Blue Steel' ...
Easily one of the funniest recent movies -- at least for those who aren't 'male models'. LOL!

Has anyone said the great Adam Sandler movies?

:D I'll never admit this to my husband, he loves that movie. But over the years I have grown to really like that show! It is just so crazy that you have to either hate it or love it. Kurt Russell does a great 'john wayne' imitation:)

I'm seeing a lot of movies in these posts that weren't bad at all. I mean, The Mask? That was a classic! It wasn't stupid or awful.
Son of the Mask, on the other hand, is so ridiculously bad that I do actually feel sorry for it.
Snakes On A Plane was so awful that it was hilarious. And Samuel L. Jackson kicked ass.

Exactly what I was thinking, I believe a few posters haven't *quite* grasped what the OP was asking for.
Son of the Mask... watched it a couple of weeks ago on telly. It wasn't *that* bad.
Oh OK, yes it was. Bob Hoskins, why did you demean yourself?????

I actually like Jamie Kennedy. I know he gets on a lot of people's nerves and a lot of people don't think he's funny. That's cool. But somehow I identify with him (despite having nothing in common with him that I can see). I don't know how. I just do.
So for me, he was the high point in that movie. For the first twenty minutes, anyway, when he's just a poor shmuck who doesn't want to have kids yet. After he gets his wife pregnant with the Mask on (and after a dance number that I actually enjoyed) his performance declines, along with the rest of the movie.
Another thing that I kind of liked was Alan Cummings as Loki. C'mon - how can you hate Alan Cummings? Even though Loki should be IN the Mask instead of in the movie, I liked Alan as Loki.
Aaaaaaaaaaaand that's as much praise as I can give that stinker. The rest is crap bigger than that lil' Mask baby can produce (and I bet that's already a lot).

I LOVE The Birds, but it has to be one of the worst movies ever read. I also LOVE the 1968 version of Romeo and Juliet, which is beyond terrible...it's so bad that you have to laugh!
