I'm glad that it's being released a year later ^^ I hate haivng to wait too long for movies I badly want to see lol. Also, coincidently, when the children get called back into Narnia by Susan's magic horn to help Caspian, it's one year (Earth time) after they all entered to defeat the White Witch XD

Thank you, so much Ryan. Changing avi now :).
Yea, it will be interesting how they do the magic horn again. I remember how BBC did it. Ugh.....what I'm recollecting is how many Narnia years they been gone. Quite sometime they have been absent from Narnia. It's on the tip of my tongue too.

Thank you :).....
I can do dates and numbers for discussions about Buffy, Star Wars, and so on. I just haven't read these books in ages. I hope my memory is correct I just remember the Pensives returned, and we see parts of Narnia age and decay.
Since I'm graduate from college and such. I have a little bit more free time to reading what I want to read . I'm finishing up LLW this weekend.

well I just re-read Prince Caspian over 2 nights and I'm more anxious than ever for the next movie lol I would have read it in one night like LWW but I wnated to slow it down and spread it out a little. Fast readers know how it can be, the more you love a book the faster it's done >_<
also so many people seemed to like the Beavers in LWW... well, just wait untill they meet the most valliant and noble beast in all of Narnia... Reepicheep the mouse :-D
Now I've got to go buy a new set of books though >_< I'm missing every book except for LWW, Prince Caspian, and the Last Battle. Even these are pretty beaten up from years and years of abuse :[ There's too much that happens in between for me to read the Last Battle next lol

Narnia Becoming a ’Phenomenon
According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe brought its worldwide total up to an estimated $525 Million last week. This includes $248 Million Domestically. The film also grossed an estimated $3.3 million in the U.K., $5.9 million in France, and $2.3 million in South Korea this weekend.
Narnia is already Buena Vista’s fourth-biggest live-action title, behind The Sixth Sense and Armageddon. The film is expected to outgross those two titles this week.
"Considering that Narnia pretty much came out of the blue, it’s turning out to be quite a phenomenon," BVI vp international theatrical sales and distribution David Kornblum said.
Meanwhile, Lion Gates’ film "Hostel" claimed the number one spot, earning $20.1 Million Domestically. Universial’s "King Kong" grossed $12.4 Million Domestically this weekend, bringing its worldwide total up to $465 Million.

'Narnia' hits $530 million at global box office
By Hy Hollinger
Tue Jan 10, 5:35 AM ET
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Lingering holidays in many parts of the world kept the foreign box office buzzing during the first full weekend of the new year.
"Chronicles of Narnia," "King Kong" and " Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" moved strongly into 2006, while some surprise titles hit the top in Germany, France and Spain, and local-language films dominated Italy, Brazil and South Korea.
"Narnia" earned $35.5 million from 44 markets to lift its international gross to $282 million. The offshore weekend results brought "Narnia's" global take to $530 million.
The film adaptation of the classic C.S. Lewis children's story appears to be arousing similar passions in many markets as "The Passion of the Christ," with the Christian parable theme being played up in many religious-centered countries. In Poland, it opened to $1.5 million, Disney's biggest opening ever in the market. The $1.2 million from Argentina was another company record, as was the $1.3 million from Colombia.
Three weekends in France have brought in $26.5 million, five in the U.K., $67 million; three in Italy, $17.5 million; three in Australia, $17.7 million; five in Germany, $24 million; five in Spain, $19.8 million; and two in South Korea, $9.3 million.
"King Kong" picked up $22.9 million from 54 territories, becoming Universal's third-highest-grossing film in the overseas market behind "Jurassic Park" and its "Lost World" sequel. "Kong" reached an international total of $271.1 million in 26 days. The U.K. has provided $45.3 million to date; France, $22.8 million; Germany, $18.8 million; Spain, $13.4 million; Australia, $13.4 million; and Japan, $15.2 million. The global total is $464 million.
The unstoppable "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" raised its international total to $570.3 million (worldwide: $851.7 million) as it added $12.7 million from 58 markets.
"Chicken Little" scored $6.1 million from 37 countries to reach $105.9 million. Hot Oscar contender "Brokeback Mountain" opened in the U.K. to $1.5 million (including previews).
Despite the clout of "Narnia" and "Kong," three other U.S. entries reached first place in three markets: "Fun With Dick & Jane" came in No. 1 in Germany with $2.5 million as part of a $5.4 million weekend in 13 markets; "Aeon Flux," a domestic dud, hit the top in Spain with $1.7 million; and Nicolas Cage's "Lord of War" was high on France's chart with $2.8 million.
In Brazil, the homegrown "Se Eu Fosse Voce" took in $1.7 million. In Italy, "Tiamo in Tutte Le Lingue del Mondo," No. 1 for four weeks, has tallied $20.4 million; and South Korea's "King's Man" has pulled in $6.2 million over two weekends.
More weekend action: "Jarhead " kicked off its overseas release in nine markets, grossing $3.8 million; "The Family Stone" moved up to $18.3 million after a $5.3 million weekend; and "Cheaper by the Dozen 2" delivered $5.2 million.
"Saw II" pulled in about $4.4 million for an international total of about $41.5 million.

I loved watching Angel S2 and Buffy S5 at the same time.....anyways that's for another thread

The new GIFs are great.
Sorry I haven't posted a review yet. I really enjoyed the movie... it was a simple and clean movie. The filming was beautiful... so majestic... very magical, while still being realistic. Tilda was terrifying as the white witch. And they were able to make a lot of the things that could have been hokey (aka Aslan), very realistic. I thought the kids were great... although I found Susan a little annoying at times.
Overall, they stayed very true to the book and did a good job. I wouldn't say it was my favorite movie of the year... but it was definately done well.

The actress who played 15 year old Lucy in the movie is the real life big sister of the actress who played little Lucy.
She was 15?? She looked older. The actress who played the older Susan was very pretty. Has anyone seen the new SNL rap video (skit) called "Lazy Sunday"? Chris Parnell and Andy Samburg rap about going to see Chronicles of Narnia. It's really funny. You can get it on iTunes.

About.com Previews Narnia DVDs
Fred Topel from About.com has previewed the special features on the single and two-disc editions of the Narnia DVDs.
In Spring 2006, you can choose between two DVDs. A single disc release will have two commentaries (Andrew Adamson and his technical crew, and Andrew Adamson with the kids), a pop up fact track (created in conjunction with the C.S. Lewis estate) and a menu/screen saver with scenes of the production. The two disc set has all that plus a second disc of bonus features, housed in a case that looks like the wardrobe. Disc two’s menu actually lets you walk through the wardrobe as you select extras.
Bonus features on the second disc include on two-disc set:
Cinematic Storytellers
The Children’s Magical Journey
Anatomy of a Scene (the melting river)
Chronicles of a Director
Meet the Creatures of Narnia
Three dimensional map and tour
DVD production

Ireland Considered for Prince Caspian
The Irish Independent reports that scouts are inspecting possible locations for Prince Caspian in Ireland. In The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, the exteriors of Narnia were represented by locations in New Zealand and the Czech Republic.
Hoping for lion’s share of Narnia sequel
Ireland is being targeted as a likely location for a sequel to the Christmas movie blockbuster ’The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’. Disney scouts are here checking out locations in several counties for ’Prince Caspian’, based on the next book in Belfast-born author CS Lewis’s ’The Chronicles of Narnia’ series.
Irish film industry chiefs are keeping their fingers crossed that Disney will opt for Ireland. More than €200m was spent on the production of ’The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’, which was made in New Zealand and has already grossed €600m worldwide since its December release.
There have been secret talks with Irish filmmakers who, if the venture goes ahead, would be involved as co-producers of ’Prince Caspian’. A top industry source said: "The location scouts have been here for two weeks. They have also been looking at sites in Britain. They know from previous experience what is available in terms of production facilities in Ireland. We’re hoping they will find locations here that suit. They have to make their minds up pretty soon. They want to start filming by autumn. They want to use the same young actors who played the characters in ’The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’."
Director Andrew Adamson said: "If we don’t make it now we’ll never be able to, because they will be too old."

Prince Caspian Given Go-Ahead
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Walt Disney Co and Walden Media have started pre-production on a second film based on C.S. Lewis’ "Chronicles of Narnia" children’s books, a Disney spokeswoman said on Wednesday.
The second film, "Prince Caspian," starring the same four child actors as "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," is expected to be released in 2007.
"The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," released December 9, has earned $634.4 million at box offices worldwide, according to online box office tracking site Box Office Mojo.
By domestic box office results, it is the 28th most-viewed film ever.
Disney and Walden split the profits equally from the "Narnia" films.

Adamson Back On Board
The Hollywood Reporter writes that Andrew Adamson will be returning to direct Prince Caspian. Read the complete article here.
’Narnia 2’ gearing up, Adamson in
Andrew Adamson is set to return to the director’s chair, having just inked a deal to helm "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian." Adamson also will serve as a producer and co-writer, collaborating with returning scribes Christopher Markus and Steve McFeeley. The principal cast is coming back, as is producer Mark Johnson.
A screenplay is not yet written, but production is scheduled to begin this year with an eye toward a Christmas 2007 release.
"I’m unbelievably relieved that what we hoped has happened," Walden Media co-founder and CEO Cary Granat said about the success of the first film. "It reminds me of when I was kid and saw clouds and wondered how it would be to touch one. And when you’re an adult and you’re on a mountain and actually have a chance to touch one, all you can think is, How cool! We’re incredibly elated right now."
About Adamson returning, Granat added, "To me, the most exciting aspect of all of this is that there is so much that Andrew wanted to express and do in the first film, and now he’ll have a chance to."

Extended Version of LWW In Works?
Mike Snider writes in USA Today online that an extended edition of the Narnia film may be released in the future. The article reads:
"You get a little bit of their perspective," Adamson says. "It’s really fun to see the experience through their eyes." A DVD with an extended version of the film is also in the works, he [Adamson] says.
We’re keeping our ears to the ground on this one and will report back if any new information becomes available.

Ireland Continues Pushing for Prince Caspian
According to the Irish Independent, Walden Media (the producers of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe) has met with an Irish co-production company and scouted the country for possible locations for Prince Caspian, following film tax breaks in Ireland. A high-level government delegation is to travel to Hollywood next month to promote Irish film, and further talks with Narnia executives are planned. However, New Zealand and the Czech Republic are also lobbying hard for the film.
"The Irish Film Board welcomes the significant changes to Section 481 and anticipates an increased level of production in coming months," says commissioner Naoise Barry.

FX Team Talks Prince Caspian
IGN.com has interviewed visual effects gurus Dean Wright and Bill Westenhofer about the second Narnia film. Read the whole article here.
Wright: "Andrew [Adamson] (director of LWW) just actually signed on to do Prince Caspian just about two weeks ago. And [he] literally took off on the next plane to New Zealand just to get out of L.A. just to recharge his batteries, recharge his creative energy, because it was a marathon. I did read the book and more of the creatures that you saw - and there’s new ones - are back. There’s new hero creatures... There’s huge battle sequences. I know from talking to Andrew before he left, he wants to make this bigger and better than The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, so I can only imagine what’s in store. Any of us that are lucky enough to be involved. We all love working with Andrew. I can say that on behalf of everyone here, and would enjoy working on all seven books if we could."
Westenhofer: "Reading the books, there are some evolutions. One of the challenges is that it is described in the text that [Aslan] does increase in size. At one point, he’s referenced as the size of an elephant. So I think that’s where interpretations of the filmmakers are going to come into play and how to pull that off. In this film, he changes size slightly, but I doubt anyone would notice. He’s actually five percent bigger after he comes back to life, but even to start with, he was at the top end of the scale of average lion sizes… So, he is a big lion, even at the start. But yeah, I think that’s going to be one of the challenges... What creative licenses you carry and how believable that is to have that big a character…"
UPDATE: SCI FI Wire has also interviewed the duo. Read more here.
Wright said the effects team will begin computer "pre-visualization" of scenes from Prince Caspian "probably in a couple of months, and then full on into preproduction. You know, the film is going to kick off before you know it, and we’ll be going like gangbusters, probably, I would say, within the next two to four months."
And there’s one other challenge, Westenhofer said: "We successfully avoided Aslan getting doused in water in this. But as soon as we get into the Dawn Treader [a ship that figures in Caspian] and that sort of stuff, it’s going to be harder to avoid."

Aslan Modelled on Gregory Peck
The FX team chats to The Envelope about the visual effects in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and progress on Prince Caspian. Read the complete article here.
Gregory Peck: the first Aslan
Long before Liam Neeson was cast as the voice of Aslan, the noble lion in "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," the film’s visual effects team had to get to work.
"We needed to find a way to model the performance to create the essence of the noble, all-powerful lion," explained Dean Wright, the film’s Oscar-nominated visual effects supervisor, "So we used Gregory Peck in ’To Kill a Mockingbird.’ His Atticus Finch performance has some of the same regal qualities we wanted, so we used frames of Peck from that film to create movements for Aslan. That helped us build our library of movements, emotions and expressions so that when Liam gave his performance, it gelled perfectly with our Aslan."
"They haven’t announced yet how many films they’ll do," said Wright. "I think they’d love to do them all. At least six or seven is the goal. All the kids will come back for ’Caspian’ and two of them, the two youngest, will return for ’The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.’ Right now, Andrew is taking time off in New Zealand and then he’ll write treatments, we’ll get the script and dive right into it. I imagine we will start production based on the kids’ schedules, but it’s all going to happen relatively soon."

I love Gregory Peck, and now I totally see why. Atticus Finch is one of my favorite characters he portrayed. I can totally see it.

Bringing The Chronicles of Narnia to Life
Source: Heather Newgen March 1, 2006
Hear Alsan Roar.
Oscar time is here and to help honor the Academy Award nominees for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, Sony Pictures Imageworks gave ComingSoon.net a sneak peak at the upcoming Special Two-Disc Collector's Edition DVD which will be in stores April 4th.
Nominees for Best Achievement in Make-up -- Howard Berger (Tami Lane is also nominated) -- and Best Achievement in Visual Effects -- Scott Farrar (Industrial Light & Magic), Dean Wright (Visual Effects Supervisor), Jim Berney (Imageworks) and Bill Westenhofer (Rhythm & Hues) -- talked about their involvement in the film and let us in on some secrets about the lion Aslan, the noble and mystical ruler Narnia.
Based on the classic novel by CS Lewis, four children Lucy, Edmund, Susan and Peter flee their London home for safety during World War II. They stay with an eccentric professor and stumble across a magical wardrobe which leads to the enchanted land of Narnia. The siblings soon find themselves teaming with Aslan to save the land from the evil White Witch.
"Aslan is probably the single most remarkable achievement in CG character animation. Not only for the key level of technology that goes into creating this guy, he's got to deliver a wide range of emotions equal to any actor…When you see it you've got to believe it and feel it and not ever think it's a CG character," Wright told ComingSoon.net.
"I think C.S. Lewis used the character of a lion for Aslan because he represents something that is both fearsome and awesome. You're attracted to at the same time afraid of. That is who he is as this high king. He is someone that the children immediately warm to, but you know he is someone who can turn around and bite your head off," he continued.
The team worked for two years on creating Aslan and told us it was "It was imperative that you couldn't tell the difference between a live animal and a computer generated animal."
To pull this off effectively they studied a real-life lion from just a short distance away.
"We did go to an animal training facility. We were actually in a cage with a high def camera," Westenhofer said proudly. "We'd take a clip of a lion walking and play it side by side with our animation, and you could see immediately, 'Oh, this muscle wasn't firing right. "With visual effects, 80 to 85 percent was there the first couple of times you try. It's really that last 15 percent that is incredibly difficult to get," he added.
Although Alsan is 99.9% digital, there are also three different full-size versions of the lion. One was for stand in work, there was a running version that Georgie Henley and Anna Popplewell rode on a green screen and finally there was a puppet that the director Andrew Adamson loved.
The design team explained that when Aslan was on the stone table, that sequence was supposed to be digital, but because Adamson liked the puppet version so much they used the radio controlled puppet instead.
Why not just use a real lion you ask? Wright said it was discussed, but they decided they wouldn't be able to pull the emotions they wanted even from a trained lion. So they created one to their liking.
So what's next for Narnia? Prince Caspian.
"No one here has actually gotten a script yet because it's not written. Andrew just signed on to do 'Prince Caspian' about two weeks ago. Then literally he took off the next day to New Zealand to get out of LA to recharge his batteries. Recharge his creative energy because it was a marathon. I did read the book and Aslan is back. Most of the creatures that you saw and there's new ones that are back. There's a new hero and huge battle sequences. I know from talking to Andrew just before he left, he wants to make this bigger and better than 'The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.' So I can only image what's in store," Wright laughed.
Disney's Special Two-Disc Collector's Edition DVD of "Narnia" will include even more details about Aslan with almost 10 hours of bonus features that consist of a behind-the-scenes tour with the film's child stars, director's diary, 3-D map, interactive timeline, and Narnia fun facts as well as bloopers.

Prince Caspian due December 2007?
Box Office Mojo has added the potential release date for Prince Caspian to its schedule. "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" may be roaring into theatres December 14, 2007.
This would avoid Prince Caspian coinciding with the release of the first installment of another popular fantasy series, "His Dark Materials: The Golden Compass", which would be released one week earlier.

I haven't read the books so I don't know who Prince Caspian is but if the moive is ddone with the same people I know it'll be great:D
I watched the moive when it came out but I've just watched it on DVD and here's some random thoughts:
I love all 4 of the children, great casting:D I love whole they all looked normal and like family. Lucy didn't have prefect teeth etc, she looked like she could be my sister you know?
I finally figured out what about the whitch makes her look so evil, it's her eyes. There black and I didn't nosite that before, well there just so much to look at in the moive you really need to watch it many times to take it all in.

I saw it in the theater when it first came out and bought the movie when it first came out. I never thought I'd get into this kind of movie seeing as to I just recently (within the last month) watched all the Harry Potter movies for the first time. I've (still) yet to see Lord Of The Rings but am sure I will enjoy those too. Getting back to Chronicles, I have never read one book in this series, but hear they are really cool. Oddly for some I suppose, my favorite character was the witch. I loved her character and her fighting skills. Of course the Lion was awesome. The kids are cute and believable. Great acting like with Harry and his crew.

Prince Caspian Pushed Back to Summer 2008
According to The Hollywood Reporter The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian has been bumped from the Christmas 2007 release slot and moved to summer 2008. According to The Reporter the announcement from Disney came hours after Columbia Pictures announced that they would release Walden’s The Water Horse on December 8, 2007. While the article states that Disney feared the films would cannibalize each other, it has appeared for several weeks that Caspian would be pushed back to 2008. Adamson is still working on the screenplay and casting director Pippa Hall has said she won’t begin casting for the role of Caspian till this fall.
"The Water Horse" is the story of a young lonely Scottish boy who discovers a mysterious egg on the shore of a loch. The egg hatches and a mysterious creature - the mythical water horse, the sea monster of Scottish legend - emerges. As the monster grows, the boy has his hands full trying to hide the monster from people who don’t understand it and want to hurt it. Weta Digital and Weta Workshop will be creating the effects for the film.

The kids are going to be a little older lol . Well, in Prince Caspian time it was two years after LLW, so it might work. I can't believe they are doing the Prince Caspian casting until the Fall :\.
Well, yeah, I guess that could work if you think about it that way.
I know. I usually stay away from news about the movie just because if I read stuff about it, it seems like it'll be forever away.. But I peeked and now 2008 and no casting yet? :\

Yea, timeline wise it does work.
There's not much news going on except what I posted, and they kept the same director and composer. Other than that the pre-production won't get moving until the Fall :\.
