I am total devoted fan of the series Witchblade starring Yancy Butler, David Chokatchi, Eric Etebari, John Hensley etc!
This used to be a comic series but it never came out in Greece, i think so the first contact with it was about a year and a half ago that it aired in Greece!
Yancy as the detective Sarah Pezzini was amazing and i found the storyline and the way it evolved very refreshin and captivating1 Just fantastic!!!
Did anyone like this show too? :)

Aww! Yay! another fan!!!

I haven' t seen one for so long! We have reruns in Greece now and it is all coming back to me! lol
I loved the first season! The second season was good too but the first was magnificent imo! did you like the first or the second most?
Especially the eppie Apprehension was the epitomy of the show! Ian and Gabriel were my faves!

I watched it when it first came on. I wouldn't call myself a huge fan, but I would still probably be watching it if it had continued.

Yeah! It was such a shame that it ended! I mean i have heard it was due to Yancy's drinking problem! does anyone know anything about that?

It's not repeated here at all. :( I liked the first season. It was great. Oh well...at least I get to see the guy who played the cute "knows everything about the Witchblade" (No I can't remember the characters name!) guy on Nip/Tuck now.

Yllektra: From everything I've heard, Yancy's drinking, partying, and not showing up for work prepared-- the last part more than the first two-- led to the show's demise.

I hate it, too. I got tired of the comic, which had great artwork but a story that never seemed to go anywhere, but the show was pretty good, I thought.

Yeah! Even though i haven't seen the comic i doubt it was better than the show! :)
And wow John Hensley plays in Nip/Tuck! He was gorgeous!!! :) ;)

I was a big fan but Yancy has problems with alcohol and that affected the show. Since Witchblade fandom had agreed no other actor could play or would be accepted as Sara Pezzini(TPTB on the show seemed to agree) the show was cancelled.
I still read the fanfics and as far as John Hensley, to quote Emeril, O YEAH BABE!!!!

For some strange reason we don't get FX where I live so I can't see him on Nip and Tuck.

Really? Too bad that she drinks! she is so awesome in that series!
Yeah i wouldn't see anyone replacing her!!!!
John Hensley such a sweetheart! :)
I don't see Nip/Tuck hasn't aired in Greece yet! :(

Yes. I liked the show a lot and was sad when it didn't return, especially when I heard why. I had the potential to be a real cult classic.

Great series that aired on TNT, amazing potential -- cancelled like most of the good shows in this particular case in large part due to one of the main actors, but it had 2 seasons nonetheless. Great characters and dynamic.

Anyone here watched this?

I haven't watched it before, but I used to read the comics when they first came out. Loved them.

i've read a few of the comics - the later ones.

in any version (tv esp. but also comics) i like ian nottingham best of all and usually kenneth irons as well as a character. i like the more complex characters. though i liked the comic sara pezzini much better than the tv version.

I watched Season 1, but then I don't remember Season 2 ever being advertised, so I assumed it got cancled after the "reset thing" in the Season 1 finale.

They're actually going to be revamping this series as a movie with another actress.

Thats cool! It' weird to see it with another actress, I really liked the one who played it on TV. She was the right the combination of really tough looking without being too much so, and was beautiful.

I believe she was busted with drugs and that actually pusehd the show into cancellation quicker than they intended.

 Oh really? I guess she'd be a really bad choice then.

Yeah, it really cut the show short. They were planning a third season and she got busted for those charges.

They could have pulled a "Dukes of Hazzard" and just replaced her with a differant actress. But since that didn't work then....

I'd assume TNT just thought it would be more logical to just cancel it.

With the movie on the horizon, they at least have the chance to give the character a fresh start.

didn't they started witchblade with a television movie or a miniseries??? i watched it briefly. I think, but i'm not sure, the actress was in highlander or something like that.

You might be thinking about "The Raven", the character Amanda on Highlander got her own spin off after Highlander ended. I don't think that show lasted for very long. (Should have been Methos!!!)

There was a show called "Witchblade" that was based on the comic book. If I remember correct, and it was a few years back...The show aired on TNT and the pilot episode was 2 hours/movie length, and then every ep from then on was only 1 hour, it lasted for 2 seasons, they wanted another season but sources on the board say the main "Witchblade" chick was busted for drugs and they couldn't continue.

Sums it up exactly and they're moving a movie towards production as we speak with another actress and essentially a restart.

As for Yancy Butler, I really don't recall much of her background.

I think she was in a movie called "Ravager" or something like that with Juliet Landau AKA "Drusilla" it was set in space. I never saw it myself but I remember seeing the trailer when I rented some movie and I thought it looked wicked, but I haven't seen the movie anywhere since, so it must have mega tanked.

She was also in some "Outer Limits" rip off that aired on Showtime - I don't remember what it was a called. She played a guy (yes a guy) who changes his sex to female and travels back into time to date himself. Yuck. It ended bad of course, the younger still male self ended up dying which of course wipes her from exsitinace.

Other than that, I don't know what else she has been in.

Only thing that comes to mind for me is Witchblade.

Seems like we would be getting a DVD release of this series since TNT usually does that stuff fairly quickly.

RedPhoenix23

I would love it on DVD! Especially the second season, because I haven't seen any of the second season. Hopefully if and when they put them on DVD, they will package seasons 1 and 2 togather. Season 2 of Forever Knight came out over a year ago and I'm still waiting for Season 3! I hate waiting!

I know what you mean. I've been waiting on BoP since it was cancelled.

I never really got to see all of Witchblade either. My area cut the network when they decided to change things and I would like at least some sense of closure on it.

We had used to have Cox and they tried to cut SCI-FI, MTV, VH-1, TNT, and a few others but alot of people called in and complained, so we got those channels back and I think we even got a credit for the days they were cut.

We have Direct-Tv now, and we haven't had a "scare" like that with them.

Stuck with Insight Basic and a very limited selection. Not that I'm complaining too much. I've had Sci-Fi ever since they took over.

RedPhoenix23

Oh man, I don't know what I'd do with my SCI-FI! I watch SCI-FI, MTV and VH-I all the time, I'd probably just cancel my service if I couldn't get them.

I'm hooked on Sci-Fi. Reminds that I still haven't seen PainKiller Jane yet.

You mean PainKiller Helen? ;) I haven't seen that one yet, either.

LexLuthorMetropolis

You defintely know what I mean. Much like Witchblade I missed it when it was on the first time. I expect it to appear again and again on Sci-Fi no matter the circumstances.

RedPhoenix23
01-06-2006, 07:51 PM
They'll play it again, just keep your eyes peeled. It would be really cool of SCI-FI started playing Witchblade re-reuns!

LexLuthorMetropolis

Seems like they would pick up the rights as much as they play shows like Quantam Leap, Sliders, and Stargate. It would be the perfect home for it.

RedPhoenix23
01-06-2006, 08:12 PM
They might pick it up when the movie is closer to being released like they did with Firefly/Serenity.

LexLuthorMetropolis

Could be very likely.
