This thread is to discuss about the Transformers:The Movie which was realesed in 1986.2006 will mark the 20th anniversary of the movie.I must say that when I saw the film I was really impressed.

I think that the film takes place in 2005,20 years after the end of the second season. The animation was interesting,I think that it was a combination between anime and american animation.

Many new characters were introduced and some Classic Autobots were killed, like Ratchet,Prowl,Wheeljack,IronHide...
and the leader,Optimus Prime. However we also meet a new human,Daniel, who was Spike s son(Spike was a human which joined the Autobots since the first episode of the first season along with his father Sparkplug.)

Anyway, the new enemy this time was Unicron,a giant robot which destroyed planets(something like the Doomsday Machine was in the original Star Trek series only that enhanced).
As Megatron was severly damgaged after the great war,
Unicron transforms him into Galvatron, along with other
damaged Decepticons(I think that they were the Insecticons).

What it was also interesting was the fact that Megatron finally disposed of Starscream, the Decepticon who always wanted to
kill Megatron.....Anyway,the movie is absolutely awesome,
the music score by Vince DiCola is excellent....and the song
"The Touch" by Stan Bush was inspiring in the final showdown between Megatron and Optimus Prime.

After the movie season 3 began, introducing the new Autobots
from the film (Rodimus Prime,Kup,Arcee)....and of course Galvatron and his "new" army of Decepticons.

What were your impressions of this movie?Did you liked,or not?
Do you think that this movie was the best Transformers you have ever seen so far?

Also there are 2 versions of the film:One which has a
Star Wars type text in the opening, and other
with a different opening...also the cast was impressive,
they had Orson Welles,Robert Stack and Leonard Nimoy....

nope, spike cussed in the theatrical release here in the u.s. i remember it like it was yesterday. we were sitting in the theater and me and my buddy just looked at each other in shock b/c of what he said. i was 11 at the time. one of the fondest memories i had was when they were playing "dare to be stupid" on the junkbot planet.

I loved the movie,I wanted a sequel, but I guess that season 3 is a sequel of the film......the first episode of season 3
"The five faces of Darkness" begins right where the movie left off..

I think that Megatron went even more insane after his transofrmation of Galvatron.I liked Leonard Nimoy as
Galvatron though.Orson Welles was really scary as
Unicron...

Also the animation improved a lot after the series......

Still, the idea of the Matrix didnt existed in the original series right?

Was the Matrix only written for the movie?I dont remember Prime using in during the series....

I loved that movie as a kid. It was so cool, but I was shocked when they killed Optimus Prime! It was so awesome when Galvatron killed Starscream. Unicron was scary to me back then too. :p I remember wanting a Hot Rod toy, but my parents got me Cup...
