I've never read it, but I enjoy the movie.
I probably should read it since I think for every movie I've seen about a book I've read, I've liked the book more.

There's a thread on Stephen King already, you'll find more people that have read and seen the movie in that thread.

I've seen the movie. It was pretty long I remember, but great. Good performances all round, and it had the kind of dark humour that I enjoy in King's books. Never read the book; in fact it's one of the few King books I haven't read yet.

That's a matter of personal opinion.... I actually think Tom Hanks is great and I enjoyed The Terminal (which is based on a true story and the man still lives at the airport) and Castaway. I haven't seen Polar Express, but he was only a voice in that as it was a cartoon, so you can't really judge his acting in that one! But I think he is an excellent actor and he can only be as good as the the script itself allow's. I think that if a film is poor even when it has a quality actor like Tom Hanks, then it is the script and movie concept that is at fault, because, especially in this case, I think Tom alway's gives the most he can to a role and if it's not great then that's down to the scripting.
As for saying he has gone down since Forrest Gump, well Green Mile was made after Forrest Gump and I think he was awesome in it!

^ Yeah, I haven't seen The Terminal or The Polar Express, but I thought Castaway was okay, (give it's a little slow, but still a decent movie).
Everyone in my family always cracks up when he gets mad at the volleyball and throws it out the cave. Then runs after it and picks it up and starts raving, "Never again Wilson, never again!" lol
NEwayz, I've read The Green Mile and seen the movie and have to agree with everyone that both are great. =D

I agree with Alice. Tom Hanks has gone down since Forrest Gump. Green Mile was a spike in a declining career.
The Terminal was so bad that I fell asleep in the theatre. It was as slow as the middle part of Castaway.
The only part of Castaway I liked wasn't even in the movie. It was a Super Bowl commercial. Tom Hanks (who was played by another actor) drove back to that house in Texas and said, "What was in the box?" The woman answered him, "Oh, just a sattelite phone, some sea flares, and a surplus military homing beacon." It was great.
As for The Polar Express, I saw it at the dollar movie in the middle of January. It was terrible. First of all, they used some technology that's not quite been perfected yet and looks funny. Secondly, they couldn't even get enough actors to do the voices. Tom Hanks did close to all of them. I guess since I didn't like the book, I wasn't gonna like the movie either.
