There is a rumor that the next Star Trek chapter may focus in the Romulan wars which started I think hundred of years before the Federation. If this is true,it could be a very interesting movie,
adding the fact that it will not feature any cast member from any TV series so far.(Nor TNG,TOS,DS9,VOY,and ENT)wouldnt be involved in the film.

It seems that the studio is gambling their chances in using
an entirely new cast for trhe film.

If the next chapter of the Star Trek saga does involve the Romulan Wars,it will be the first movie prequel.

I dont know what to think to all of this, but if such a movie is made....well it will be like watching a sci fi movie only without any Star Trek theme.

I had hoped to see a movie based upon Star Trek:Enterprise
or Deep Space Nine, but it seems now that Paramount wants
to do something different and that a movie based upon
the Romulan Wars might be interesting after all....

So,would you like to see a Star Trek movie based upon the Romulan wars?Who could they cast??

I think this would have been a better idea for a tv show than Enterprise. I don't know about a movie, though I'll still see it.

I liked the most of the Trek series.
TNG and DSN were shows that I tried to watch on a regualr basis and still watch the reruns when I can.
The one thing that the other movies had going for them was years of building through TV shows which made it easier for people to identify with the charecters.

I think most people outside of the Trek genre or sci-fi genre would look at it as another Batman movie in line with the last series (not the Begins series). The " man another one? Isn't this dead yet" line of jokes and such.

But heck I would see it for the space battles and visual affects. Thats why Wrath of Kahn is still my favorite.

Where did u hear this rumour? There have been lots of em over the years,so untill u hear an official statement Id have a tendency to think it probably wont happen. And without any previuos characters? No name recoginition at all ?I think the only way for a new movie to be successfull is to get an all-star cast-Kirk,Picard,Janeway,Q,and see if it floats.

Dont forget Nemesis....Nemesis rocked, but it failed because it was realesed in a time that it shouldnt.

The space battles of Nemesis are awesome, specially that
sequence with the Enterprise colliding with Shinzon s ship.

I also love Wrath of Khan, and I would love to see a rerealese with new CGI shots and replace the old Starship models with
CGI models (I loved what George Lucas did for his Star Wars Trilogy, that is why I would love to see a restored version of
Wrath of Khan.)Some of you might argue with me about leaving the movie intact, but it woudlnt hurt to restore the film in order to make it far more impressive.

And,back on topic,a Romulan Wars movie would be interesting,
but they could pick up also s story featuring the birth of Khan
and the beginning of the Eugenic Wars.....as I recall there are already a series of books telling this story.

However I would love to see a direct sequel to Star Trek:Nemesis!

For the record, even though I love the Romulans, I think this is a bad idea.

First off, Trek started as a franchise that broke new ground. It was amazing because it showed people things and ideas that they'd never really seen before. Now, with a prequel, Trek is resorting to doing what everyone else is doing. That is a bad sign.

Second, Berman and Braga need to go. They've both already admitted to burn out. I'm not like many Trek fans in that I don't hate Berman and Braga. I like them both and appreciate them for what they did for the franchise. But they've given what they had and it's time to hand it off.

Third: Is Paramount gonna hand them the proper funding to budget a film centered around a war? No.

Finally, Star Trek was meant to be a futuristic show about the future of humanity... among MANY other things. The closer it gets to our time, IMO, the more it loses its appeal. I think they should strive to go even further into the future and show us things that we can't see anywhere else... things that ONLY Star Trek can show us. Otherwise, it's just like any other show or movie.

I still have faith in Star Trek.I agree with you that,Rick Berman killed Star Trek and that is why he needs to go.

But think of the possibilities of what they can make with Star Trek.

A movie about a Romulan War might be a bad idea,I was thinking that having a Star Trek:Starfleet Academy series would be better than thinking of doing another movie. And even that a Academy series would be a prequel,it might had a better premise than a
Romulan War.We havent seen the days of Kirk at the Academy,
havent we?I was thinking that a Starfleet Academy series focusing on Kirk would be interesting,in addition they would had to use another actor to play young Kirk.

So,what do you think?

There should NEVER... I repeat... NEVER be another James T. Kirk. There's ONE Kirk... ONE Spock... ONE McCoy... right on down the line as far as ONE Travis Mayweather.

Still they might want to do a Romulan wars using Trek actors with other roles, who knows? It s up to them to do whatever they want with Star Trek.

I loved the original series, and an another actor pretending to be a young Kirk might be weird to follow, but in the end it could be interesting.

Let s hope that Paramount do the right thing this time, whatever it might be!

And hey....I want another TNG film!I hated the fact that they stopped making them!!

The Romulan Wars idea is still a go however I am really interested to see a Starfleet Academy movie,if not based upon
TOS cast how about set in the 24th century?

Why is Rick Berman obssesed with prequels? Why does he thinks that making Star Trek prequels are good idea?Enterprise proved him wrong and now he wants the Romulan Wars.

I sense Star Trek XI to be a failure if we see it as a prequel.
I believe that as fans we dont want to see more prequels,we had enough with the Star Wars Movies.

Or they should make an entirely new Star Trek movie set in the 24th century with a new ship and a new group of actors.

SAY NO TO THE ROMULAN WARS!!!
