I was a really big Ring fan, have watched it several times, but I was extremely underwhelmed by the second. The pacing was really, really bad.

I liked The Ring 2. I thought it was very well made with an intriguing story, continuing after the events of The Ring. There were some really cool scenes. Personally I like both equally as much.

I actually slightly preferred the second one. It wasn't as scary as the first one because most of the stuff we see in Ring 2 was already shown in its prequel. With that said, however, this movie made a lot more sense to me. The first was simply too confusing, and the impressive opening scene in "The Ring" made everything that followed underwhelming.

My 2 cents.

I never saw the first one. :\

But my brother (who works at the thaetre) said everyone he talked to said the 2nd sucked. He said everyone in the thatre burst out laughing at the cgi deer part. And all my friends who saw it said it sucked too, so maybe i'll just rent the first one.

the first one is good.
Number 2 does not even follow the same continuity as the first one.

What movie did you see? Ring 2 picked up a few months after the events of the first. Anyway, I saw it and liked it. That's all that matters. :)

Yeah, it did continue the story?

Continuity was in no way a problem.

The CGI deer were not convincing but it got the job done.

Here's what I can't figure out. If the reporter knows about Samara, why doesn't she just throw away her TV?

Quote from the movie: "You let the dead get in." At the end of Ring Rachel helped Samara. This allowed her to kill without the videotape.

Well I'm bias because I loved the first one and so I naturally like the second one.

Again, I must say I pick good and bad movies myself. If you liked the first one you're most likely going to like this one. If you didn't like Ring don't see the second one. If you Japanese cinema you might like this one. It all depends on what you like not what other people like.

Well I like the First one even though some parts were confusing to me.

Ring 2 isn't as confusing as Ring.

I saw some Ebert and Roepert ratings on this and they said it sucked pretty much. To not watch it. PERIOD.

I don't often listen to them. They gave Cheaper by the dozen two thumbs up.

Ebert has said many times that he just doesn't like nor understand Japanese cinema. So I wouldn't listen to it.

But still, most horror movies which have sequels turn into horrors.

Exept movies like Freddy Krueger or Jason or Halloween. Which I believe to be great horror movies.

Again, you can't generalize based on opinion. Everyone feels differently. It's just how it is.

I also don't like these type of movies.
