Randy Moss is a RAIDER!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know he is a weirdo and a problem child but he is the hands down the best reciever in the league when he is playing up to his potential. TO is good as all hell but Randy is better-just as fast more hops and the best hands in the league I've seen a highlight reel with like 10 sick ass one handed grabs. Kerry Collins has one of if not the most effective and prettiest deep ball in the league to go along now with Randy Moss and Jerry Porter. Oh how sweet it is.
Sidenote-the silver and black has always been a safe haven for the weird and rebellious so he'll be fine with us. Now if we can get Ricky Williams who has said he wants to be a Raider than we WILL WIN IT ALL THIS YEAR BABY!!!!!!!

I think you guys better shore up that already very average defense that you just weakened in this trade before you start clearing room in the trophy case.
And which Ricky Williams are you trying to get? The monster running back or that skinny guy who's been smokin' weed and meditating for the past eight months instead of working out and running?
Moss is indeed a great receiver, there's no doubt there, but the only thing he consistently does is not work hard. And his salary is huge, so it's going to be harder to get other pieces you need.
I'd still rather have TO. Neither of them are my favorite person but I'll take a jerk that works his @$$ off to get better over a jerk that just coasts along any day.

well, I think that's obivious because it is a team sport. And every person's position is a variable in that.

Having Randy Moss is great. He is a good receiver, but you have to have someone who can get it to him consistently. And the defense does need some work. The Raiders may wish they had taken a draft pick and next year instead of giving them to the Vikings.

There's a reason the Vikings traded him. And the really bad part is that there are plenty of other free agent WRs the Raiders could've gotten cheaper, like Muhsin Muhammad, or Derrick Mason, and without giving up their best LB and the 7th pick in the draft.
If the Raiders really felt they needed to add to a, more or less, team strength in the first place. This trade might've made more sense if they had gotten a running back, a definite team weakness.

Oakland now has a nice passing game. However:
They can't run the ball.
They can't stop the run.
They can't stop the pass.
They will again miss the playoffs, although they will produce some nice fantasy football players.
IMO, the Raiders should have used that 7th overall pick to select one of the elite 3 backs in the draft and made a run at a FA WR like Muhammad, Mason, Coles or Burress. It's not like they needed another burner at WR; they already have those.

They can still get a RB and if they don't Tyrone Wheatley really start to get it going after he returned from injury and he has given us 1,000 yards before. Justin Fargas can be a game breaker he just has bad hands-as long as he doesn't drop the ball everytime he gets the ball, which he doesn't he does just fine. Amos Zeroue had a decent year last year and is a good running back. Zack Crocket has always been productive when given the ball, anyone who says different doesn't know Raider football.
Their defense can step up but yes they have trouble stopping the run if they can tighten it up just a tad bit more so they don't get ridiculously gashed every game there will be no problem there-the offseason is just getting to the good stuff so be patient.
Charles Woodson can't stop the pass?!? Philip Buchanon can't cover anyone?!? These two guys are monster in the defensive backfield-Woodson had a slow couple of years due to injury but that happens to plenty of players if we can get him healty this year than he's set. Phillip Buchanon is a playmaker no if and's or but's about it, he just needs to step up the consistency a tad-which coming into the 4th year is about the time a majority of players blossom into something special. Ray Buchanon-he's a vet but he isn't what he was that's a given. Stewart Schwiegert is gonna be held in high regard very soon. Some called him the best defensive back in the draft last year. Derrick Gibson is a solid safety and Marques Anderson can just plain lay the wood. So my secondary is just fine don't worry about them that's for damn sure.
Not make the playoffs my arse they are in there GUARANTEED-if it wasn't for the Gannon injury we would have been in this year but Collins stepped in and stunk it up for like the first 4 or 5 games before he caught fire and then it was too little too late.
"And which Ricky Williams are you trying to get? The monster running back or that skinny guy who's been smokin' weed and meditating for the past eight months instead of working out and running?"
I'm trying to get that skinny guy who's been smoking weed and meditating all year-I bet he is still in better shape than you that's for sure. And I'm willing to bet he would be better than any of the horses in the stable right now that is a given. He may not have been playing but he also wasn't taking a beating.
I loved Napoleon Harris but I'd rather have a game breaker if I had the choice offense or defense were talking about a guy who can BREAK OPEN A GAME here guys not a priest. Oakland is the land of the league's exiles and guess what for the most part they flourish and get the love all these athletes seek so nay sayers beware the SILVER AND BLACK are coming.
Kerry Collins has hands down one of if not the best deep ball in the league coupled with the BEST downfield threat in the game-buckle up fellas at least we are guaranteed a good show this year oh yeah we have some BIG games this year Pats, Eagles, and I think the Colts too so if they do make the playoffs you know it will be deserved not a 8-8 seed.

Oakland's D was ranked 3rd to last in defensive yardage allowed and second to last in points given up. Make no mistake about it: this defense is bad.
Their two corners are better on paper than they are on the field. Buchanon has not progressed at all since his impressive rookie season and was on the rumoured to be on the trading block this offseason. Charles Woodson is one of the most overrated players in the league. Some people consider him to be an elite cover corner because of his play in the past. The truth is that he has not been elite the last couple of years; he has been painfully mediocre. This is compounded by the fact that he has a bad attitude (who on Oakland doesn't?) and he is injury prone. Their safeties are poor as well. Ray Buchanon is a decent SS, but you are seriously mistaken if you think anybody called Stuart Schweigert the best DB in the draft. He was selected in the 3rd round, behind 11 other DBs. The most highly touted rookies were DeAngelo Hall, Sean Taylor and Dunta Robinson, with the later two receiving serious rookie of the year consideration. Gibson and Anderson have not even come remotely close to living up to their lofty draft picks. The secondary's shortcomings will be even more evidenced this year because: A. They lose arguably their best and fastest LB and B. They will likely be in more shootouts, with opposing offenses burning this secondary.
As for the RBs, Oakland finished last in the league in rushing yardage and below average in yards per attempt. Fargas has potential, but, counting college, he has missed the majority of 3 of his last 4 seasons. He is injury prone and will never be able to handle the load of a feature back. Wheatley is decent, but he has clearly hit the "wall" and does not scare defenses because he is a one dimensiontal power back with no wiggle. Zereoue is a decent change of pace or 3rd down back, but that it is. He can not handle the load, evidenced by his pathetic showing in Pittsburgh the one year he was given the starting job. Zack Crockett is a good goal-line/short-yardage back and has solid hands, but he is nothing more because he is too slow to scare defenses.
Barring major additions in FA, I stand by what I said:
Oakland can't run the ball
Oakland can't stop the run
Oakland can't stop the pass
Oakland will miss the playoffs

Yeah, but all of these players are better than you are, therefore Oakland goes to the Super Bowl. :p
I'm sorry, but what the hell kinda argument was that? Not you, BeepBeep.
Whatever. I guess this is my fault anyway. I should just let Raider fans be happy now. I just don't understand how the addition of a WR who doesn't go over the middle, doesn't block, takes plays off, and leaves the field while his team's playing along with the subtraction of one of the best players from a bad (I didn't realize they finished second-to-last in points allowed) defense equals a championship season.

I agree on this point. I think that Culpepper added about 1/4 to Moss and his ability. When I watched them play (being a Bears fan at least 2 times a season) Culpepper found a way to make it happen because he could avoid the rush and buy extra time in the pocket for Moss to get a little more seperation or open it up a little more. Collins who is a decent quarterback doesn't have that. Having Porter will open it up some but if they face a team with a fast defensive line or their O-line falls it willl be bad. Moss is not the type who can take a few bad games let alone a few bad seasons.
But best of luck to them. I wish I could understand Al Davis mentality of getting all misfits into one spot and hoping they do well.

Who ripped you personally, the way you did me? And the way you just ripped everyone in this conversation who doesn't agree with you about Moss being the best WR in the NFL or that he is the be-all and end-all of the Raiders SB chances.
My friend's ecstatic for this addition, since that division's terrible and this gives them a good chance next season.
