Both. Anna and summer become friends, which irritates seth. so then he apologizes to both of them, and they both believe it. so both anna and summer run off to find seth. summer gets there first, and asks seth what he's doing on saturday. then, later, anna asks seth out. he tells her that he's going out with summer on saturday. then anna says "what about friday", and seth just smiles.

Almost to the end of the episode. In the scene where seth apologizes to anna and summer, i thought anna's hair looked kinda like chloes (flippy) . And then i looked over at summer's and i thought it kinda looked like lanas. Anybody else think so, or am i just smallville deprived????

i'm sure you've all seen summer's outfit. WONDER WOMAN.
damn, that was fine.

12-04-2003, 05:30 AM
Seth did what made sense: he liked both of them way too much to choose one. He thought he could just be friends with them, but, unfortunately, they didn't want that. I thought that was ridiculous, by the way-- what kind of b****y girls say, "I don't want to be your friend"? Psssh.
And Summer did look really hot in that Wonder Woman outfit. She's always really pretty, but daaaaaaang. I would LOVE to look like her!!! I think Anna's pretty too, but not AS pretty as Summer. Does anyone remember the Cotillion episode in which we first met Anna? Anna's skin was *TERRIBLE* back then, and she looks *FANTASTIC* now. What's her secret!?!?!

I think the reason why each girl said, "I don't want to be your friend" is because each girl assumed that Seth picked the other.
SGuthrie
12-05-2003, 12:22 PM
Never seen the show, but just thought I'd say that the pic of those two girls does make them look a lot like Chloe and Lana.
--Jeff ><>' :)--
I loved this episode and Chrismukkah. That was my favorite part. :)
Marissa realy needs to get a grip though, gawd girl.
I thought it was really unrealistic of Seth to choose neither, especially for a hormonal teenage guy. Puh-lease! He definitely would have chosen one, and I think he should have chosen Anna.
I checked out the pic again and although I didn't notice it before, I really think they do resemble Lana and Chloe in that scene. Funny. :)
shirkie
12-05-2003, 04:17 PM
Whoa-- they DO look like Chloe & Lana in that pic! Creepy, hehe. Yeah, I constantly feel like strangling Marissa. And why the whole plotline last week about Luke's gay dad, and now absolutely *nothing* about that? No way everyone got over it that quickly-- this is O.C. and HIGH SCHOOL. I see why Seth didn't pick either... He's such a nice guy... <swoon>

Luke is the Pete of The O.C. He's in the opening credits, but we hardly ever see him. Samaire Armstrong and Rachel Bilson (Anna and Summer) get way more screentime, and they're just listed as guest stars.

I'm actually starting to like Marissa. I sometimes think that Mischa Barton has subscribed to the Kristin Kreuk Head-Bob and-Eyeroll Method of Acting, but the character is awesome. When she's with her parents, you totally see why she's screwed up. Her mother is totally controlling her life -- she tells her what to wear and what's right and what's wrong. Her father is completely passive and permissive for fear of hurting his daughter or losing her love or SOMETHING.
Julie Cooper is entirely self-absorbed -- Marissa gets that from her. I thought the whole shoplifting thing should have made Ryan think twice about dating her -- I mean, he did mention that he was on probation and he could have gotten in trouble! However, I'm sure that if Ryan broke up with Marissa, it would cause her more anxiety.
Ryan just seems to be drawn to helpless people and trying to help them out. He was probably partly attracted to Marissa because she reminded him of her mother.
In other, lighter news: Seth Cohen is such a sweetheart. :)
shirkie
12-09-2003, 03:52 AM
Sully, I liked Marissa more at the beginning. I would agree about Mischa Barton (MB, wait no, that's a bit too close for the Magnificent You-Know-What, hee!) doing the head bob/eyeroll thing like KK, hehe. I say "The Kristin Kreuk Head-Bob and Eyeroll Method of Acting" should become another fun KryptonSite acronym: TKKHB&EMoA! Maybe we'll have to work on condensing that... ;)
I understand about Marissa "acting out" because of her relationship with her parents, but I guess I've seen too many TV characters do the whole "bad girl" thing for her to garner much sympathy from me. My fave character on the show is, by far, Seth, and my favorite female character on the show is probably Summer. Yes, Summer's flaky, mean, and totally stuck-up, but there's something refreshingly blunt about her.
I do feel bad for Marissa having to deal with Jimmy and Julie, though. Still, I do argue that bad parents do not necessarily a bad child make; by having Marissa's character resort to the tired old "I'm a troubled youth because my Mom and Dad are bad parents" brand of character development, I don't think they're breaking any new ground or giving the audience something fresh and interesting. I miss "Dawson's Creek"'s Andie McPhee; her parents (and her) were screwed up, and she reacted by being ULTRAgood rather than rebellious. That takes more work than stealing, drinking, or being moody.

no new oc this week..... :(
SullivanLane
12-09-2003, 05:40 PM
I think Andie McPhee though, was a good example of what could happen. Instead of letting go and completely losing control, she tried to hyper-control her life and ended up losing control anyway.
Speaking of someone who is a good person with "bad" parents, I point to Ryan Atwood himself.
I loved Andie McPhee. I stopped watching Dawson's when she left. I squeed when I saw that she was in the deleted scenes of the Dawson's Creek finale DVD. It didn't make any sense for her NOT to be there.

I miss Andie too... Imagine her character on "The O.C."-- Imagine her trying to befriend Summer or giving Marissa competition for Social Chair (or whatever Marissa supposedly is). And her drunken karaoke-ing, Ecstasy-taking self would fit right in at one of the O.C. parties. ;) Andie's study skills would blow Summer's and Anna's crappy flash cards right out of the water too. ;)

OMG! I just stumbled apon this forum! I did even know we had a "other tv series" forums in the off topic! Where have I been?
This is late, but the O.C. is hilarious, and last week's ep was particularly funny. My fave character is Seth because Adam Brody is a sweetheart and gets all the best lines. Though I was wondering, am I the only one who likes him with Summer better rather than Anna? I love Anna and her quirky personality, but Summer is his first love, and I don't think Seth could possibly have the same feelings toward Anna as he does Summer.

I have not watched the season two premiere of The O.C. yet. I am debating on whether to watch the season episode by episode or tape and wait. However, I have also heard from other websites that a lot of people were somewhat dissapointed at the premiere. The general consensus has been that people are glad to have the show back, but were hoping to get more out of the finale. Personally, I think The O.C. may not do all that well this season. They used up a lot of storylines in season one, and I am worried that we will just get rececycled storylines from the first season this year.

It was fine. Nothing spectacular but they had to get everyone back in the O.C. Which took a whole episdoe to do. Now we'll see some good episodes. 4 new "minor" characters added and hopefully a nice season. Hang in there, it'll be worth it.

There's already a thread on the OC in the General Shows Talk section.
But I hate the OC with all my guts. It's the dumbest show I've ever seen in my life. Pathetic to the bone. I watched the first 4 episodes and I thought it was complete and total crap.
I thought that the fact that they had to bring Lesbian's to attract male audiences was sad on every level. This show is horrid.

Right now they´re showing season 1 on Kanal 5 and I love it. Me and my dad use to sit and watch it together. I like how they blend humor in the way they do, so that even when things might get real tense there´s still room for some fun. The Cohens are really cool, especially Seth with his dorky/up-front manners. One thing I can´t get past though is that he´s after both Summer and Anna whereas I would´ve settled with Anna once and for all, period. Everytime she´s onscreen I wish I was Seth just so I could grab her and kiss her back to last week.

When marissa and Alex were together ( the lesbos) it was for like 4 episodes and it was like the 13th in the second season. But than Ryans there and they get back together.
I think everyone on the show is kinda funny sometimes. Like Ryan and Summer. Luke was really funny in The Third Wheel and The Links. Its kinda cool how Seth turns Summer from a party girl to normal. My favorite Characters are Ryan and Marissa. I always thought Anna looked like a lesbian. I started watching The OC like a month after I started watching Smallville. Plus, Rachel Bilson is great eye candy.

Worst. Chrismukkah. Ever.
I used to watch this show during the first and second seasons, but since it's on at the same time as Smallville, I don't get to watch it as much (don't have TiVo). However, since Smallville was a rerun last night, I flipped back and forth to the O.C., and realized, this is kind of boring. The only reason I watched the entire episode was for Ms. Bilson. The show is starting to lose its edge.

The O. C. is just a one hit wonder...that show started hot out of the gate and lost it's steam when the first episode of season 2 aired. Recently nothing has happen that makes you think this storylines going to change.
Every episode begins with numerous problems that would eventually be resolved by the end the show. It's seems like there's always a happy ending.
ryan is so boring to watch too...he is suppose to be this rough and tough guy on the wrong side of the tracks of chino, which made it very interesting, but now he's relating to these rich white people and having this clean cut image that don't really fit him.
the girl that had the baby with ryan was interesting, but the storyline never developed...they should bring that back.
(sigh) never the least i still watch it...i don't know what's worst the storyline or the fact that i continue to watch this show.

i know the main characters like merissa, summer, julie, kirstin, etc. the girl that was pregnant in season one only stayed until the season finale. She lied to ryan about having the abortion and never heard from her again. It's been a while so i forgot her name.

This weeks episode, as predictable as ever...
Although most people didn't like Johnny, i can't help feeling that it was a shame that he was left on the tower by himself, with Ryan skipping off to see Marissa.
I don't watch this show anymore because it comes on the same time as Supernatural and The Office but I did watch season 1 and was a fan at the beginning. My favorite episode is probably the pilot. Season 1 rocked, but now I just lost interest in The O.C. altogether.

I liked the first 2 seasons, and the first one of S3. But now it got ridiculous. I agree with the whole Ryan the "BAD BOY" Atwood with hair combed to the side, not believable. I realize he is supposed to change, but it seems like the show has gotten dumb. I just got interested in Supernatural. My friend will buy the ist season, so I will borrow it whenever he gets it. I also didn't watch it because of Smallville. The O.C.'s rating dropped alot, and I think that they moved to 8 so they didn't compete with Smallville.

Yes, she was Seth'a s"true" love. She was in the "Goodbye Girl" episode. It was ubber sad. I did not like how the producers acted like Seth had no feelings for Anna. He choose Anna over Summer in S1.
Superboy2
05-19-2006, 04:23 AM
I liked Anna better. I bought the 2 seasons on DVD last week.
Yesterdays finale was good. I'm hoping nobody find the guy who drove Marissa and Ryan off the road, so Ryan confronts him in the finale or close to it, and gives him what he deserves. I was hoping Ryan would scream a "NO," or "Help." Can't wait for the premeire.

Here's a question about S1. In the finale, Kirsten told Theresa that she had an abortion once, and that she wish she had people to talk about it. Was she at all implying that it was Jimmy's, or even Sandy's b4 they got married? Another question. Was it ever stated that Theresa's baby was in fact Ryan's? For S3/S4 Q, where is Ryan going to college, and for what? Back to S1/S2, Julie was a porn star back in the day. But she gave birth to Marissa when she was 18. And Jimmy is supposed to be 5 years older?

i actually thought season three was alot better than season 2 i mean marissa went from straight to lesbiana then back to straight and then sandy cheated on kirtsten and that never really got solved, and i am not looking forward to season 4 it sounds bad with marissa not here and her sister taking over, but also i agree i mainly tuned in for anna

The first season of The OC is absolutely fantastic. One of my all time favorite seasons from any show. The Pilot episode is still the best episode of the whole series. I love stories that involve underdog characters standing up to bully-like characters. It doesn't get much better than the first season of The OC.
Season two was decent, but I could already see a downhill slide starting with this season.
I don't watch OC on television. It is only a show I watch on DVD. But from I have heard, S3 of the OC is absolutely terrible, and unfortunately I found out about what happened to Marissa. I was looking through youtube, and a video for the OC came up with the song in the title. The title also had "Marissa's death" in it so that pretty much summed it up.
I just wish they would put the show out of its misery already. It was absolutely brilliant in S1. But after that it just kept going down and down in my opinion.

OC MOVES TO WEDNESDAY!! IMPORTANT NOTICE!!
Given the devoted service performed by “The O.C.” in recent years, FOX announced Friday that the season’s second episode, “The Gringos,” will air on Wednesday, Nov. 8 at 9 p.m. ET after “Bones.” The following night, FOX will air another new “O.C.” episode, “The Cold Turkey,” in the same Thursday 9 p.m. slot where early estimates had the show bringing in under 3.4 million viewers this week. Althought FOX presents this as a one-week move, it’s expected that if “The O.C.” is able to deliver a better audience in the Wednesday hour, the show will make a permanent move to that night, where there may be more free-floating viewers after “Lost” goes on its upcoming hiatus.
Source: www.savetheoc.wordpress.com
I like that idea a lot. I was fine with Thursdays at 9 pm but if it moves to Wednesday at 9 pm, I'll be ok with it too. I just can't miss Lost though. So when it is on hiatus, I'll watch the O.C. (although I was planning to watch One Tree Hill during that time).

I don't know if most of you have heard, but this is what Mediaweek had to say:
Quote: “Beckman said the network will stick with that plan, but he concedes that probably only one of its three new dramas will survive. While he declined to identify those to be cut, it seems likely Standoff will probably get the coveted American Idol lead-out slot in January in an attempt to grow its audience. Beckman also said the network plans to be “patient” with freshman sitcom ’Til Death, and will keep The O.C. on board to finish out the season.” Quote.
>Source<
Basically what the senior vp for strategic program planning at Fox Preston beckman is saying, is that they are not going to axe The OC now, they will wait untill the end of the 16 episode fourth season and then axe it! I don’t know if this is good news or bad news. This news might be good because atleast they are allowing us to see the rest of the season, but this news is also bad because that measns that there won’t be another season! What do you think? Well, its only a 16 episode season, and since it has gotten many episodes b4(27 in season 1, 25 season 2 and 24 season 3) maybe this isn't so bad. There may be a seasons five, just Fox is not too sure about it.

Really? I've heard a lot of fans say that, and honestly I'm kinda surprised. I could have sworn that Marissa's replacement was Taylor :\ I mean, she's the one living with Julie and Kaitlin, she's the one acting like Kaitlin's big sister, she's dating Ryan... Heck, she's been referred to as one of the "Fab Four" taking Marissa's place.
Oh well... It doesn't matter anyway. Marissa's gone now.

I actually like Kaitlin,a fact that surprise me .Don't look like she's repleacing Marisa.Marisa's just gone, you know no one is taking her place .

I'm kinda an on and off OCer. Got the season 1 DVD box set since I started watching on the last month of episodes. The whole thing with Ryan's dad will probably make me tune in. I usually miss The OC because i'm online looking for things regrading SN, SV, VM or lost; or I happen to be doing nthe whole season marathon thing with one of those shows.

Heck, she's been referred to as one of the "Fab Four" taking Marissa's place.
That's one thing I don't like. The Fab Four no longer exists. It died when Marissa died. That was a name for the original four main teens and it should stay that way. Don't get me wrong, I love Taylor, but it irks me to hear people say she took Marissa's place. I don't think she's taking anyone's place. Taylor is like a breathe of fresh air to this season, not a replacement.

I get that, but it's actually the same people from Fox who say that, noy only the fans. If you go to the official The OC site, in the Recaps section for the "The Earth girls are easy" epi, the recap starts with "The new fab four is on the road to Vegas for New Year's".
Like I said before, it doesn't matter anyway. Apparently, Fox is def cancelling the show so I say we enjoy as much as we can now :)

i actually stopped watching this show. sorry for people who don't like marissa but i did.
i think the best season (at least for me) was the beginning - season 1.
seth has always been funny. i liked him even when he was a "bad" guy in smallville. i think he's a great actor (just can't remember his real name at the moment).

Didn't someone say that maybe the CW would pick The OC up for another season??
I hope so.I want another season!!

Haven't heard that the CW would pick it up. They were asking if we think the CW would pick it up. I doubt it would, and now that I'm reading Ryan's father is in the picture, I want to start watching this season. Though I will buy the third season in the summer or b4 it, and the 4th season when it comes out. I hope it lasts two more seasons. Technically, they have had more episodes than any show, so they could have another 16-18 episode season for season five. So far its been like this. S1-27 episodes. S2=Either 24 or 25. S3-Either 24 or 25. S4-16.

Sorry to all you O.C. fans. :(
I was a fan, but no longer. However, as I heard from others, this season was amazing.
It's too bad the show is cancelled. I was a fan of season 1 and now 4. Hoped it would have continued on.

So apparently a lot of viewers left during Season 3, but I imagine ratings would've picked up this season. Sorry to all Marissa lovers, but she did need to leave the show to start telling new stories instead of revolving around her weekly problems. And I'm surprised that ratings is such an issue, with a regular crowd of 4 million; Smallville's barely scraping past that and yet a seventh season isn't ruled out.
CallMeClark

One of the ratings this season dipped down to 3.1... Fox wants big numbers. The CW isn't exactly the same.
Also, an interview from The O.C.'s creator is on TVGuide.com and he says he won't being carrying the show over to the CW...
I think Fox has higher standards for the O.C., which is why they decided to cancel it. Since most of the shows on the CW is doing somewhat poorly and Smallville is doing rather well among them, I doubt it will be cancelled.

This just sucks...
I have to admit I did leave during season 3, Marissa's storylines bored me to dead. But now I got hooked again, I love the new stories. They're almost as good as they were during S1.
So, bummer! I hate Fox for canceling it.

Did anyone see last week's episode? It was pretty funny and romantic and the same time. Glad to see Ryan and Frank patching things up.
3 more episodes left! :(
I thought it was funny how Seth referred to himself as Summer's "Sandy Cohen". Also, the whole switcharoo with the limo was pretty funny.

i still think season 1 was the best, but season 4 has come pretty damn close. it's just such a shame that it starts getting good again when its too late.

I just read on TV.com that there are 3 episodes left. Although I haven't watched any this season or not alot of S3 cause SV came first, I still wish it could have made either a full 22 episode season, or 24 and make the 100th episode. I will definetly be watching the last 3 episodes now. Although I may be at a total loss, oh well. I plan on buying S3 at a bargain price. Hopefully S4 comes out in the summer, perfect time to watch it.

Since there are 3 episodes left, no sense in making a completely new thread for The OC spoilers. New spoilers from Ask Ausiello. Read at your own discretion.
Question: With only three episodes of The O.C. left, we deserve some extra juicy scoop!— Audrey
Ausiello: (Spoiler alert) Taylor is going to shoot someone very close to her.
Question: The O.C. is winding down, and the finale is almost here. I need to know who is going to pop up in Newport again. Jimmy? Anna? Theresa? Hailey?— Evan
Ausiello: None of the above. There's a rumor floating around that Trey is returning, but that bad boy has "foiler" written all over it.
Question: Any more scoop about what the series finale of The O.C. will bring?— Caroline
Ausiello: If Autumn Reeser's dress-fitting wasn't enough of a clue, lemme come right out and say there will be a wedding!
