Reportedly, the Backstreet Boys will have a new single released this month in preparation for their new album to come out. They have apparently let go of the boy-band sound, and adopted something similar to the Goo Goo Dolls.
I've been a fan of the Boys since 1997, so I'm interested in hearing what their "new sound" is. Do you think making a comeback is worth it for the Backstreet Boys?

i dunno i suppose they still have all there fans out there then making a return might be ok, i was never a fan though i just saw them as a bunch of pretty boys, my sister loved them though and im sure they rnt returning for a quick dollar its not as if they need it, i liked 1 of there songs 'drownin' but that was it,

I can't stand these guys they're stuff is hardly music. It's mostly for kids so more power to them they are rich.

I have enjoyed some of the stuff they've done in the past, so I'll be interested to see what they come up with!

I had liked a couple of songs... mainly the ones with good harmony. I have a friend who's crazy about them. I wonder what she thinks.
It really depends on their singing style now. They're not kids anymore so the new album has to sound more mature.

I went through a BSB fan phase (I'm big enough to admit it, yes), to a somewhat embarassing degree you might say (no, I did not go to concerts with hand-painted tee-shirts emblazoned with "Marry Me Nick!" or anything like that, I was a little more... subtle. And I used a pseudonym. Hahahaha!). My tastes have changed significantly, and actually my tastes weren't really "boy band" type music back then either, but I just kind of fell into liking them somehow (not because they were "pretty" - I used to call Nick the "All-American Junior Ken Doll," saying he was involved in an accident at the Mattel factory and ended up with Barbie DNA), mostly because of the constant pulsation of BSB songs emanating from my sisters' rooms, so I guess I became a fan by association. I did and still do have have all of their CDs and I throw one on every once in a while for nostaligia's sake and to give myself a laugh (honestly, I really do have to laugh about it), but I suppose I still like them well enough to give their new sound a listen. I grew up, their sound might have too. We shall see what we shall see.

I was never a big fan, but I recently heard their new single online and it's TIGHT. Probably one of the best pop songs I've heard in the last ten years, and Nick Carter's smooth tenor never sounded better. Guess ditching Paris Hilton did him some good. =) It is by far their best song, and a very mature pop single. I would be very amused if this launched a huge comeback for them.

Back in 2001, my best friend and I had 4th row from the stage seats for their Black & Blue concert in Toronto. I think hearing their voices in harmony live has been a high-point in my life so far, as they were my favourite music group during my childhood.
I have a link to a clip of one of their new singles called "Incomplete" here. (http://www.angelfire.com/film/prophesies/BackstreetBoys.html)

Ugh...
I am a recovering Backstreet Boy luver. Considering that I live in Orlando, they are my boys :p and I used to worship them (and stalk Brian Littrell  )
Even though I used to LOVE them, and still have their cds that I listen to occassionaly--I think they're past their prime. I mean they got married, had babies, and I think the boy group ship has sailed. I would rather remember them fondly in my memory...

(off topic) Is it Come Clean, Sharkie? Because I love that one too, but I quite dislike Hilary Duff.
I was such a huge BSB fan. I have an old poster stowed away in my closet from their break-out year, and a t-shirt in a storage box under my bed. Oh, and one of those sticker albums, where you'd have to go out and spend like $3 for 10 stickers. And an envelope full of those pictures you could buy at variety stores. My parents also won an autographed copy of Black & Blue for me shortly after it was released. The only think I don't have is one of those headbands that says "I *heart* (insert Backstreet Boy name here)" (and I really wanted one 4 years ago  ).

I listened to that clip of the new song, and I must say I like it, but I guess I'm missing how their new sound is anything like the Goo Goo Dolls? Not that it needs to be, I just don't know where that characterization comes from. Maybe their other new songs explain it. Aw well! It's promising, I guess. I'm more into stuff like Death Cab and Rooney these days, but I can throw a little BSB into the mix now and then for variety's sake, if it's noteworthy! :)

I like that song too, but I like Hilary in general. I think she seems like a really sweet girl and she has a cute voice.
Anyway, when I saw the poll choices, I cracked up. And of course clicked on "all right!"
I am eating my earlier words... I just heard the new Backstreet Boy's song on the radio--and I instantly fell in love with it. I LOVE it! Now I am happy they're making a come back :D Look forward to hearing more!

Like Goo Goo Dolls? Is that what was posted? Yeah...sure...I love Goo Goo Dolls, because they PLAY MUSIC well. I even like Ryan Cabrera but Backstreet Boys will always be pop...not Alt.Rock like the Goo Goos.

From the Backstreet Boys' website:
2/10/05 - The Latest on the Single
We know that many of you are looking forward to the release of the first Backstreet single off of their new album. Like you, the Backstreet Boys are always excited when radio stations start playing their new music. The leak of "Incomplete" was based on the testing of the record on a promotional website. On March 18th we will officially announce the first single and fans all over will be able to request the song.
Remember, to check back on March 18th to find out what song the group has picked!
I hope it's "Incomplete". I really like that one :) But March?? Ugh!

I think they should have never gone anywhere, because if they learned anything from the New Kids on the Block, out of site out of mind. I never really cared for them personally, but I think they might have a difficult time getting all the fans back.

When I first saw this thread, I was :rotfl: . And I'm a BSB fan! That being said, I feel they will only make a comeback if they seriously change their sales pitch. 5 guys jumping around in space suits doesn't sell like it used to. I hope their new sound is more mature, and their presentation is appropriate. Either way, though, I know I'll be buying the CD. :D

Well, "Incomplete" ended up being released on April 1st, but it was glorious nonetheless.
Their new album will be titled "Never Gone" after a song written by Kevin Richardson. Track titles on the album tentatively include Incomplete, Climbing the Walls, I Still, Weird World (written by John Ondrasik from Five for Fighting), Shout, Poster Girl, and Beautiful Woman.
I heard a promotional clip of Climbing the Walls, and I am very excited to hear the full version when it hits radio/the album comes out. It sounds even better than Incomplete.

I used to be a HUGE BSB fan. I got their new CD and it's great.
Last night I was watching TV and caught the end of VH1's Behind the Music of BSB. I was surprised that they had a Behind the Music but it was really neat. All this new BSB stuff is like a walk down memory lane for me. It's odd and funny because I was OBSESSED with them. Brian's still cute. He was my favorite.

Well, I actually always liked Backstreet Boys. Yup! I liked N'sync , & 98 Degrees also.
People kill me sometimes. Oh, it's not cool to like cheesy Pop stuff, so I'll just diss it.
Well I guess then if we hid a camera in your car, we wouldn't catch you singing along and knowing all the words then.....would we? :rotfl:
In the past, I've been a Club DJ as well as a Radio DJ, & I'm glad that I like everything from Metal, Alt.Rock, & Classic Rock to Pop, Disco, & Club stuff.
Urban stuff is awesome too.
Backstreet's new song "Incomplete" is really nice, but I just listened to their entire new CD.
It's all slow stuff. It could have had a little more variety.
