View Full Version : Back to the Future Trilogy

This is my favorite trilogy.Action-comedy-adventure and time travel. What can be better?I love the paradoxes-especially in part 2.I like how Doc Brown kept saying they cant run into their past selfs-it could rip apart the fabric of space itself.Or when Marty kept using the term 'heavy' and Doc says"is there something wrong with the Earths gravitational pull in the future"lol. How about when Doc asks future Marty "whos president in 1985" Marty says "Ronald Reagan" and Doc goes 'The actor?Ha-whos vice president-Jerry Lewis?

I also LOVE the theme song, it is such a catchy tune!!!

Yeh 'The Power of Love' Huey Lewis and the News.I remember b4 i saw the movie and read a review about it and it said 'Dont be surprised if u leave the theater singing that song'lol.
Biff was great-so many different versions-
Georges boss
Auto repair guy
Old man Biff
Young Biff
Biff the multi-millionaire
Griff from the future
Mad Dog Tannen

Yeah, a truly good movie, Michael J. Fox is awesome, I know someone who knows him, and they say he is the coolest guy. Too bad for him, doesn't he have Parkinson's or something like that?
axisoftime
01-21-2005, 10:04 PM
Yeh he does-last time i saw him on tv he was shaking badly.Unfortunately he probably dosent have long to live.
I agree with u however-he was certainly awesome in these films-in fact, its hard to imagine anyone else as Marty!A great range of emotions and acting ability for sure.

Yeah, I also heard that when he was on family ties, he hardley if never messed up on his lines. I have always like him as an actor.

yea he was great such a shame his career was cut short due to the parkinsons disease i always remember form the bttf films when somebody calls him chicken then all of a sudden u hear the big DUN sound and marty goes 'nobody calls me chicken' yeah they dont make em like they used to

It's funny to hear that Eric Stoltz was originally cast as Marty McFly. And they even shot scenes with him for a week before Spielberg let him go and went for Michael J. Fox. Hard to imagine anyone else in that role now.
Great trilogy!!

01-22-2005, 06:15 PM
How about in the old west when Mad Dog Tannan asks Marty what his name is,and Marty, trying to sound tough says "Clint Eastwood" and Tannan laughing sarcastically says "What kind of sissyfied name is that" Then at the end when Marty wasnt going to go outside for a duel, someone in the salloon says "If u dont go out there then the name of Clint Eastwood will be forever known as a yellow bellyed chicken"

VersesBatman
01-22-2005, 07:03 PM
I love that! I love when Lorraine says "I don't like her Marty. Girls chasing boys, we didn't do that when I was your age." Then his sister asks "Then how are you supposed to meet guys?" she says "Fate." and then she says "But that was so stupid! Grampa hit him with a car!"

01-22-2005, 07:08 PM

That irony was too funny. Or when she kisses him and says "Something's not right. When I kiss you it feels like I'm kissing my brother."

Or when Marty 1st sees Joey in his playpen and whispers "So youre my Uncle Joey-better get used to these bars kid"

Yeah, those were great movies.
But after watching them for like the 5th an 6th times, I started noticing the inevitable plot holes. I think the biggest is in the second part when Old Biff steals the Delorean, goes back in time and alters history, then somehow comes back to the future he came from... how is that possible if when Marty suggests it, Doc Brown claims they can't?
But all of the rest... fantastic. Those flicks truly are fun to watch.

True, But he also disapeared after he got there.

And as far as the Delorean, the only way to get your hands on them now are to either: find someone who is selling one (only produced from 1981-1983), or you can buy a refurbished one online for like $30k

The cartoon was cool. I always found it funny how in the films they wanted to destoy the time machine, then in the cartoons they kept the train and the car, letting Jules and Verne use them whenever, for there homework and stuff. lol.
You want a DeLorean? Just go to Universal Studios Florida. There's only a chain keeping it in, bust through that and your off. Then, if you can get up to 88 in the park, go back to when the park wasn't built. Then you won't have to worry about security.

Once heard Steven spielberg say about the 1st film that he cant believe how good it came together because it was the most cluttered and noisy set he had ever been on.Another good scene was when theyre in 2015 and Doc reads from the paper about Marty jr being arrested tried and sentenced in 2 hours and Marty says "2 hours"? and Doc says "Yes,justice is swift scince they abolished lawyers"

You can't beat the retail price on the widescreen edition of the DVD trilogy. :) Lots of extras, too. I just got mine.
I remember a BTTF animated series around 1990, then another, different-styled animated show (that actually had Christopher Lloyd in host segments, IIRC) in the early 2000s.
When watching part II, look closely at how George McFly appears on screen. They tried so, so hard to make the audience not realize that it's not Crispin Glover reprising the role (George is upside down in all 2015 scenes, and the new actor turns his face away subtly in 1955 scenes). Yet a few pieces of George footage from BTTF Part I were reused in Part II -- without Mr. Glover's permission. Glover sued the studio and won, and new film-industry rules were laid down about using actors' likenesses.
Oh, heh. I always chuckle when they say "jiggowatts." I suppose it was supposed to be "gigawatts" but nobody caught the mispronunciation.

I cant believe crispin glover didnt want to come back. What a jerk, everyone else came back and the story could have been even cooler if he had as well.
I just want to add that BTTF is probably the most underraeted comedic movie of all time. Its hilarious imo. Also i think marty was the first ever to utter the phrase "you bet your ass". Just all around classic, all three movies.
Another nugget to chew on is that doc brown is like 100 years old by the end of back 3. Think about it. Lets say he was 40 in 1955 which i think is being generous. Flash forward 30 years to 1985 and he's 70. Ok then in his letter to marty at the end of back to he says he was living in 1885 for a number of years i think, lets say 5 of so he's 75. Then at the end of back to the future 3 he has made a new time machine and raised two kids. The oldest isi dont know 12 adn the other one is like 10. How long has all that taken? Its very odd and nobody ever questions it. Thats why the movies are so great you just buy everything thats going on.

Interesting theory F-Stop,however id say in 1955 hes closer to 30-then in 1985 hed be around 60-he was only in 1885 9 months-so if he has kids around 10-hed actually be closer to 70.Plus when he returns at the end of BTTF I-he says hes had things done in the future that would add several years to his life.
These are awesome films-my favorite trilogy.
