I know it is wrong to laugh, but that was so funny. I do feel bad for him though. What do you do after that when you are kneeling in front of thousands of people and millions on tv are watching and you just got shafted royally?

I just couldn't believe that she ran off so quickly. She must have really not been ready to get married.

Yep.
I only know of one case where it worked out when it was a surprise, but the guy asked her parents first beforehand.

Um, wouldn't it be colder to say yes and then run later???
How do you let someone down gently when it was his idea to have an audience for it?

The first time I saw this I felt sorry for this guy and laughed a little :D
Then I found out it was a hoax put on by the Washington Wizards basketball team.

Hoax or not, if the girl didn't want to marry the guy she should say no.
