Fox is premiering Point Pleasant on the 19th at 9:00. It’s a show based on the supernatural that has quite a few similarities to SV. The protagonist, Christina, is taken in by a local family, will possess powers, and will have to deal with her real father who has other plans for her. The producers have worked on BtVS and Tru Calling which are popular among many SV fans. It looks pretty interesting to me and I’ll be glad to finally have something to watch during the week other than SV. Check it out.

I'm watching for sure. It intrigues me plus a BtVS co-executive producer and writer Marti Noxon is help heading the show. From what I read the girl is the devil's spawn, and she is looking for her birth mother.......I think?

I'm definitely watching it too! At least a few episodes. With Marti Noxon on board, it can't be bad. I've been looking for a something else to watch along with Smallville.
I went to Point Pleasant's website. It's pretty neat. Here's the address if you want to check it out. http://www.fox.com/pointpleasant/
Oh, I forgot someone else already posted the site. Well there it is again.

Last night it was on. It was pretty good it just set up the rest of the show. Previews for the rest looked really good I think I got sucked into a show plus it's on regularly on Thursdays and there isn't anything on tv on Thursdays. It looks really dark I can't wait for tonight's ep to see if this show is for real or a pretty coo. concept screwed up, the devils spawn she must be fun in........

I agree. It was very intriguing(sp?), and you can tell we only touched the surface. The second parter looks like we will go further into the mythology of the show. There was some definite Omen parts like when the guy was covered by the bee type bugs(it even went in his mouth...eww, but very cool). I swear that church looked like the same church used in "Who Are You?". well, at least the exterior part of it. And the crosses everywhere.
Grant Show's character said at the end was interesting. He basically saying let Christina see the bad side of humanity, and when she does the world will fall. It seems like he is going to malipulate events in Christina's live, so she would want to kill them all.

Oh man! I completely forgot Wednesday's episode! I think I'm caught up from tonight's (Thursday) episode though. I wasn't even thinking about it, I'm not used to watching tv at 8:00 on Thursday. The show seemed like it could be really good. It's too hard to tell right now. I guess we'll have to wait and see over the next few weeks. If anyone knows if they'll be reairing the Wednesday's episode, please let me know.

Yeah the show sounds interesting... more interesting than it actually is. I found both episodes so interminably dull, and most of the actors (save Dina Meyers, Grant Show and the main Dad guy) to be so wooden, INCLUDING the lead, that they were just unwatchable. Skipping this one, sorry.

here's a recap of second parter:
The Kramers and Christina gather for dinner. Ben tries to convince the family to help him fix up his boat for the Point Pleasant Harbor Parade, but they’re interrupted by Duke, the family dog. Duke is barking at Christina, but the family doesn’t know why.
Boyd meets with Kingston again, he wants Kingston to stop worrying and let the town bring about her full powers. Boyd knows that Point Pleasant will soon be the ultimate battle ground for good versus evil. When Kingston offers to go to Point Pleasant to keep an eye on Christina, Boyd steps in…he’ll be going.
Christina is packing the Kramer’s van with supplies for the Harbor Parade. When she turns around, Duke is snarling and barking at her. Christina turns and yells, “NO!” A vicious scratch cuts along the side of Duke and he howls away. “It’s always the quiet towns,” Boyd walks up to Christina. Christina backs away, afraid. “Do I know you?” she asks. Boyd offers a twisted smile and replies, “No, not yet.”
Christina heads back to the Ocean Grove church where she went looking for clues to her mother’s whereabouts. Christina stands outside looking at the now shattered stained glass window when young Father David approaches. Christina tells him that her grandfather was a caretaker at the church and hopes there might be information in the church’s records that will guide her back to her mother.
Inside, Father David reads Christina her grandfather’s history. He moved away in 1997, “That was the year I was born,” declares Christina. Christina confides in Father David, she tells him that when people get close to people, and she gets angry or upset, terrible things happen to those people. She then draws the symbol in her eye on a pad of paper. Father David looks at the paper and claims he doesn’t know what it is.
recap con't:
fter Christina leaves, Father David goes to Father Tomas. “It’s starting.” Father Tomas tells Father David not to believe the old prophecies about a girl coming to the town and bringing evil. Father David fights Father Tomas on the issue, “This isn’t superstition, its evidence,” David tells him.
Jesse runs into Christina at the pier, he asks how the investigation at the church went. She says it was fine, but she thinks father David was hiding something. Jesse says his mother works at that church so he can get the keys.
Jesse and Christina sneak into the church at night and locate her grandfather’s file. As they read the file, they find out that her mother was sent to a doctor. Christina’s mother was pregnant, but still a virgin. Father David enters the church and heads towards the office. Christina panics and her powers slam the doors of the church allowing her and Jesse to escape out the office window.
Jesse and Christina race away from the church in Jesse’s car. They pull over to the side to take a breath. Lost in the moment, Jesse and Christina kiss, but Christina pulls away. “I can’t!” she cries and leaves the car.
Christina walks alone down a dirt road and a car slowly pulls up behind her. The window rolls down, and Boyd is smiling. “It’s pointless what you’re doing. Your mother, the church. None of it really matters,” he tells her. Boyd begins to do what he does best; Christina becomes increasingly frustrated with Boyd. Boyd hints at what Christina’s true fate is, but Christina doesn’t want to hear it. Boyd is relentless until Christina cries out, “SHUT UP!” The headlights of Boyd’s car explode!
In the basement of the church, Father Tomas goes searching for the writings of Father Jeffery, founder of the Ocean Grove church. As he slowly walks through the dusty archives, he comes upon a twisted statue, an angel with a devil’s face. The floor beneath his feet makes a curious sound and reveals a secret hiding spot. Inside he finds the journal of Father Jeffery. The journal reveals what Christina’s fate is.
recap con't:
Father Tomas leaves the church in hurry and calling Ben along the way to warn the Kramers about Christina. When Father Tomas drives off, a black car is waiting on the side to follow him, Boyd is unquestionably inside.
Before the Harbor Parade begins, Christina tells Jesse that it’s better if he stays away. Jesse unhappily agrees and heads off. When Christina gets to the boat, it won’t start and the Kramers have to bow out of the parade. Ben gets an emergency page and heads off; Christina, Judy and Judys mother wander the boardwalk waiting for the festival.
When Ben goes to his office, Amber is waiting to seduce him. But Ben fights temptation. Amber is sad, feeling that she has nothing except her looks, but Ben tells her that isn’t true. Amber continues her advances and doesn’t back down. Ben doesn’t know his own strength and shoves Amber to the ground.
Father Tomas arrives at the Kramer’s boat looking for them. He calls Ben’s name and boards the boat to look for them. Mysteriously, the boat becomes disengaged from the pier and backs into the harbor. A string of lights snags Father Tomas and pulls him upward.
last recap of "Human Nature" episode:
The townspeople and the Kramers are watching the parade when suddenly a boat floats out covered in flames. Judy and her mom realize that it’s their boat that is on fire and they watch in horror! Christina sees a body hanging from the sails, but it quickly vanishes. When she looks down, a few loose pieces of Father Jeffery’s journal are floating on the surface. The paper has the numbers "666", and Christina's face is in shock and disbelief.

well, I know I dont hate but I kinda like it. Its not like Buffy or Angel pilot eps because there was more substance in "Welcome to the Hellmouth" and "City of" as compared to the pilot eps in PP, however; the mythology is definitley there.
There were scenes you can tell they were setting things up especially w/ the characters of Christina, Boyd, and the chruch. The acting isnt that great except Grant Show is the best thus far IMO. At times its kinda like the O.C., but I will kept watching it because like the mythology of the show and parts remind me of The Omen.

Cool I think I gots it
Christina sits awake in her room, clutching a piece of Father Jeffery’s journal. The page draws out several “6” figures and show how they combine to form the symbol in Christina’s eye.
In a vision, Christina is walking through town; a few dead bodies lay on the sidewalks. Jesse walks slowly toward her, covered in blood. “We have to fix this!” Christina cries, “We will,” he replies. “I love you,” he tells her as a knife in her back is revealed.
Amber confronts Ben about their past and thinks maybe Ben has more feelings for her than she’s letting on. Ben tells her, “Go to hell,” and he storms out of the office.
Christina tells Judy she saw the body hanging from the mast when the Kramer’s boat was ablaze during the Harbor Parade. Judy laughs it off, “seeing things runs in the family,” she says. The two head into town.
Sarah is giving a walking tour of Point Pleasant when she runs into Boyd. Boyd pushes Sarah about some lingering sexual tension between them. As he turns away, he tells her, “Just tell them the truth, that’s what they want.” Sarah later reveals some horrible details about one settler who went crazy and murdered his family to the tourists.
Christina is on the phone pleading with Kingston’s answering machine, “Where are you?” Kingston sits nearby listening, fighting the urge to help her. She also notices an old message on the machine, it’s father David. “Dr. Kramer, this is father David, you may be in some danger.” Judy asks who it was and Christina lies. She tells Judy that Father Tomas found something about her mother. Christina heads for the church.
Amber is on the phone waiting to speak with Logan about Ben hitting her. Boyd stops in and hangs up the phone. He wants to discuss the “business of their business.” Boyd tells her that he wants her help to buy the town.
In town, Boyd sees a public works employee working on the stoplights. With the summer season, the tourists increase traffic. He’s adjusting the timing of the lights to make traffic better. Boyd smiles and walks away.
Jesse and Terry are on duty, and Jesse opens up about his feelings for Christina. He tells Terry that he feels something more for Christina, that they’re connected on a deeper level. Terry says she’s still just a girl and girls can’t have too much power.
A determined Christina marches through town; the message from Father David is on her mind. She walks quickly by Boyd without noticing him. Boyd watches the public works employee and knocks his drink to the ground. The public works employee is distracted, making all the lights green. Two cars collide in the intersection, Judy is in one of them, and a rich town tourist is in the other. Christina runs out to Judy, who is unconscious and being taken away in an ambulance. The rich town tourist is yelling at Judy, “You’d better have insurance!”
The Kramers arrive at the hospital, one of the doctors pulls Ben aside and tells him that there’s some inflammation around her brain and she may need surgery.
Boyd and Amber meet about Boyd taking over Point Pleasant, but the conversation quickly turns to Amber’s feelings about Ben. Boyd says that Ben is not the enemy. The enemy is the person who stands between Amber and Ben.
Jesse and Paula show up at the hospital to wish Judy well. Christina sees Jesse and makes an awkward comment to escape to a nearby stairwell. Jesse excuses himself shortly after and finds Christina. The two kiss passionately, then push away. Jesse doesn’t understand why he’s so attracted to Christina, Christina says she misses him.
Father Tomas is alone in the church reading a bible for clues to Christina’s history. A water droplet falls from above and form’s the 666 symbol. She’s coming.
Father Tomas stands up and removes a knife from the drawer, suddenly Christina bursts in. Christina grabs his hands and begins to pray. Father Tomas collapses to the floor, something is pulling him down, and he screams, “Get out!”
Outside the church, Kingston waits in a limo. Christina crawls in and wants answers. Kingston tells her that he’s just a pawn in a larger game and there’s nothing he can do. He can no longer be her father. Before she leaves, he tells her not to fight it because people will only get hurt. After Christina leaves, Boyd is sitting in the front seat, making sure all went as planned.
Sarah and Logan are sitting outside of their house. Sarah is apologetic that she left one summer for the city and returned pregnant with another man’s child. Neither Sarah, nor Logan has ever told Jesse that Logan is not Jesse’s father. But Sarah knows there something more to Jesse, something special.
At the hospital, Amber tells Ben that the father of the man who hit Judy’s car is going to file a civil suit against their family.
Ben storms out, unsure what to do. On the way out, Christina is waiting. She’s confused and upset about her meeting with Kingston. Her powers take over and convince Ben that he needs to go after the man and protect his daughter. The trunk of a nearby car opens up and Ben grabs a tire iron. He marches like a zombie across town and finds the man in a bar. Ben begins swinging the tire iron, Christina is behind him trying to get Ben to stop. Suddenly, Ben stops. The beam from the lighthouse freezes him. Ben is dazed, unsure of what’s going on.
Judy is sitting up and dressed at the hospital. The swelling in her brain has gone down and she can now go home.
Christina goes back to the church and Father Tomas is waiting. Christina says she’s going to leave, but Father Tomas wants her to stay. He thinks that he can help. He tells her that there are things he is supposed to do to destroy her, but when they were praying, Tomas says he felt such an unbelievable amount of goodness from her.
Perhaps she isn’t as evil as others think she is…
So there you go the show is pretty damn dark I'll say that I'm gonna try and watch it thursday.

I think they should have her choose evil, there is a goldmine in evil winning for once if Hollywood would realize that people do pull for the bad guys from time to time.

02-01-2005, 09:57 AM
It doesnt matter to mean what path she chooses as long as there is conflict with the decision she makes. In Damien: The Omen 2 there was very little conflict within Damien, and as a series they can show more conflict.

Good Lord. I tuned in last week again after SV, and I think this may be the worst show I've ever seen. The dialogue is horrible, and the acting makes the cast of One Tree Hill look like an outing of Masterpiece Theater. The entire cast save for Grant Show and Dinah Meyer who has the unfortunate burden of playing "the aging slutty prom queen" is made out of solid pine.
To quote a friend, you know you've made some poor casting choices when *Grant Show* steals every scene.
Terminally dull schlock.

I caught the pilot the night it was first on and I like it. I'll continue to tune in and see how it goes. I rarely ever watched tv thursday night now its at least something to watch.
I think it's interesting and even though under the surface it's about her being the spawn of the ultimate evil, it's not *in your face* obvious like Buffy or Angel, or Charmed... It's shall I say, more *believable*(???) makes it a bit creepy. What will keep me tuned in is watching Christina begin to exercise the awesome power she posesses more often, whether she ends up choosing evil in the end or not. Hard to ignore power. ;)

I started watching from the 3rd episode. So far I like it! Would like to have seen the pilot. So far it's intriguing!
I watched the first few episodes, but only because Marti's [Marti Noxon; former Whedon staff] producing it.
And as much as I want to watch it, I just can't. It's not the premise, which I don't mind; it's not Grant Show; I used to watch a little 'Melrose Place'; It surely isn't the star; my god, she's lovely.
Oh the irony of having Grant Show on the show. Meaning the reason I can't put myself to watch it is because it reminds me too much of: 'Melrose Place.' My god, where's the horror? Where's the comedy? Come on Marti!
I was hoping to have something to watch on television, and hoped that 'Point Pleasant' could fill that void, but alas it has not.

Marti Noxon - Point Fate Not Pleasant ?
From Scifi.com - 2005-03-15th
Marti Noxon, executive producer of Fox’s struggling supernatural series Point Pleasant, told SCI FI Wire that she and the writing staff are crafting a season finale that will provide a sense of closure in part because she doubts the show will get picked up for a second season. The finale will leave some threads dangling, but will also wrap things up for fans who tuned in to all 13 episodes. "I’m pretty much counting on not coming back," Noxon said in an interview. "Our numbers make [Fox’s quickly canceled series] North Shore look like a hit. That sucks, but I’ve gotten past the pain."
Point Pleasant stars Elisabeth Harnois as Christina Nickson, the teenage daughter of the devil and a mortal woman, whose presence in the town of Point Pleasant, N.J., kicks off the ultimate battle between the forces of good and evil.
"The only thing that kills me is that I feel like the show got a lot better as we found what worked and what didn’t work," Noxon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) said. "You go through this process and see results, and you’re already dead, which is hard. And we are plotting the finale so that it will be satisfying if we get canceled. But it’s also a big fat cliffhanger so we can continue the second season in my backyard sock puppet theater." Point Pleasant airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
This sucks, not official however. I'm starting to enjoy the series.

I feel bad for her because she's accepting that the show might not return. That's got to be hard realizing that your show isn't doing great and preparing not to return next season. Fox never puts forth much effort in giving shows a boost. I thought their ways changed when they ordered Tru Calling season two, then they cancelled that without the first episode of season two premiering.

I have watched every episode except last weeks. I have it on Tivo, and will be watching it tonight. The show did drag at the beginning, and did have a feel of not quite sure which way to take the story. That being said, I have faith in Marti and the treatment of her and like Spiked said in a more descriptive fashion...this is typical Fox.
I just hope that some other network will give it a shot again, but with pickup of such greatness as Firefly :(...

I have been watching this show from the beginning and it is pretty good. It's like the modern day teen version of Carnivale.(or not. I'm just addicted to Carnivale) :)

Sad day Point Pleasant fans. From slayerverse.net:
Marti Noxon confirms the cancellation!
"Point Pleasant" is cancelled and FOX won't show a new episode this Thursday!
Marti Noxon at forums.prospero.com:
Hey all...
Well, it's all true. We're cancelled and we're off for good. No new ep on Thursday... In a way I'm glad because Thursday's episode didn't quite come together the way I would have liked and I would have hated for that to be our final word. Eps 9-12 were going to be pretty cool, though. Lots of twists and scary stuff.
Anyway - thanks to those of you who care. It's been a bumpy ride for sure. If you feel inclined you can bug Fox studios to issue the season on DVD. I know they are thinking about it - and you'd get to see all the "lost" eps, which will be airing overseas.
Again - thanks for watching. We had a blast.

They should at least play the episodes that they have already finished filming

I agree, the show kind of wandered a bit at first, but the show finally felt like it was getting it's bearings. Show the rest of the episodes, at least let the fans feel some kind of closure.

Channel 4/E4 here in the UK chose to show Point Pleasant back in Jan/Feb instead of showing Lost.
I said from then that they should of shown Lost, 'cause at least they knew it had a full season, unlike Point Pleasant, which when they started giving out times for hadn't even started in the U.S.
Stupid Channel4 not listening to me.

I certainly am! :D I really enjoyed the show when it was on the air and was terribly disappointed to see FOX deal with it the way they did.
It'll be nice having everything wrapped up and seeing those final episodes. Hopefully they were able to at least somewhat resolve the storylines.

I had every intent to catch it while it was on TV, but never got the chance. Thank goodness for DVD! :D
Didn't Marti Noxon create this show?

This show... I... Didn't like it.
That's all I really have to say on the subject.

It was an interesting concept that was poorly executed... too much was revealed too early and something leads me to believe that the directors/producers imposed melodrama onto their actors. It's a show that may have done better, if the fear of being cancelled hadn't lurked over its head from before it even started and if it got a better time slot. That Thursday 9pm slot for Fox just sucks. Remember this is the show that replaced Tru Calling after Fox cancelled its ass prematurly.

Agreed. It was a great concept (similar to the far superior "American Gothic" on CBS years ago) that was poorly executed. Hated the writing and the way they seemed split between telling an interesting story and making another teen sex show. Someday, I'm sure I'll buy it anyway, only because Elisabeth Harnois is one of the most gorgeous females on the planet.

I'm seriously debating giving it a chance, but at the moment I'm doubting it. Still wish I had at least caught the first episode.

Given that there are so few episodes... and the story, while interesting, is highly melodramatic... this may be a "why waste the time?"

Given that we seem to think alike on certain levels, I think I'll take the hint then. Who I am kidding a hint would be more subtle. I'll take the suggestion and just wait for the Flash DVD box set and get my precious VM DVD set and Arrested Development S2.

It's not a horrible show... but there is so little of it... and very little is answered and a lot is insinuated... it just isn't worth the purchase... but if you feel like killing a few hours... then go for the rental...

Makes me wish they would finish Tru Calling.

Agreed!!!! This show is similar.... only in the fact that both are very good concept shows... treated poorly by FOX... a little over the top melodramatic.... lacking in character development that doesn't feel like a Melrose Place episode. You can see with both of them how the show could have been really good... but was just too tied down by other issuses to be able to.

I picked up this series a little while ago. Didn't know what it was but the description sounded interesting, plus it was really cheap. ('cheap' was the real seller for me, lol). I've seen the first 3 episodes so far (there are only 13 in total, it got cancelled)...
I thought the Pilot episode was simply horrible for the most part, thanks mainly to some of the WORST acting I've ever seen. Not just the acting, but the writing/dialogue was lousy as well. It reeked of amateurness. And the directing wasn't the best either. Quite a bad start to the series. Casting could definitely have been better for many characters. They certainly didn't do the best job with casting the lead.
There was quite a bit of clear lifting from The O.C. in the family structuring evident in the pilot which I found quite cheap of them. Even some plot elements in the pilot were copied from The O.C.'s premiere, so cheap. Lol the difference is The O.C. did everything 10 times better, with far better acting, directing, writing and overall production value.
The second episode, "Human Nature", was slightly better but not by much.
But the third episode ("Who's Your Daddy?") was actually good and a great surprise. Grant Show, formerly Melrose Place's Jake, was great in this. His character redeemed parts of the first two eps as well, more than anything or anybody else. A great/fun character, and played perfectly by Show. It's amusing seeing him as a total villain in this, on Melrose he was a total hero/good guy--although he slept around quite a bit, but who can blame him...lol good ol Jake was a demon with the ladies. Ha and now here in P.P., he's just a demon, period. heh Besides Show it's also funny seeing Dina Meyer as a villain after her hero role in Birds of Prey. At least the series has a couple of somewhat famous faces that I know and like from past roles/shows.
Anyway I hope the rest of series is as good as Who's Your Daddy...writing, directing, acting, story--everything was better in ep3. Suddenly the series actually shows promise. But we'll see if they can hold on to the ball....

LOVED this show! I loved Paula Hargrove's line in the Pilot : "I'm in a mood."
Too bad the show got cancelled! The 'unaired' episodes were awesome as well!

Episode 4 - The Lonely Hunter
Saw this yesterday, wasn't as good as ep 3 but it was still another solid episode. After a pretty weak beginning this series seems to be finding its footing. The acting, particularly from the young actors, still isn't the greatest but they seem to be getting better (either that or I'm just getting used to them). Anyway I liked the meteor shower/planetary stuff in this ep, cool stuff. But once again the real star of the show is the villain Lucas Boyd (Grant Show). Loved the bit from Lucas explaining why he looked sad near the end and the cutaways that accompanied it:
"The saddest thing about what we do is, is how easy it is. I barely lift a finger. You wanna ruin a man? Show him what's really in his heart. The seeds of Destruction, Lust, Insecurity, Violence, Obsession. People like to imagine they are seeing demons, but the real demons, we know better."
I also liked this exchange between Show's and Meyer's characters near the start of the ep:
(Lucas is trying on a new suit)
Amber: Nice. What's the big occasion?
Lucas: Funeral.
Amber: Sorry. Who died?
Lucas: Nobody yet. I like to be prepared.
(if it was anybody but "Jake Hanson" himself saying this it might not have been as funny, heh)

It still sucks that they pulled the plug.
Maybe I'll make a fanfiction about this show.
