Was happily reading posts in the Culture forum when all of a sudden I heard a familiar sound coming from the television (hubby is watching basketball).
Dun dun dun da-da-dun da-da dun. Theme widely used for the Empire.
Sure enough... they were playing a trailer for Epi III. Not as long as the OC one.

No offense Sarah, but that price isn't going to drop much more then the curret price. Some places carry it for around 40 bucks, which is less than 14 per movie.

Yes the Dvds are slightly different...cool but subtle differences...the scene in TESB where Vader talks to the hologram of the emperor has been changes the most...and the very last scene in ROTJ with the force visions of Yoda, Obi-wan, and Anakin has been altered to include Hayden Christiansen as Anakin.

GL, said that their were a couple of reason why he decide not to do Episodes 7,8 & 9.
One of the main reason was, that if he did Episodes 7,8 & 9, He wanted to have, Mark,Carrie & Harrison back as their roles.
The second is Star Wars movies are really about Anakin Skywalker and his role as "The Chosen One" from The boy, to The Jedi Kinght , To The Dark Lord Of The Sith, To The Retrun Of The Jedi. In The Expanded Universe, The Star Wars story is more about Luke destiny as he bulids "The New Jedi Order" etc. And about Leia's life.
So their really is no need for Episodes 7, 8 & 9
ROTJ, ended The Empire's regin. And The Rebles Won, Luke became a Jedi Kinght , And Anakin retrun to The good Side of The Force as A Jedi Master.

The Son Of Skywalker
http://img34.exs.cx/img34/2834/run9gs.gif
It'll be difficult to continue the movie series after Revenge Of The Sith.
Because the six films have all revolved around one basic theme, the rise and the fall then the redemption of Anakin Skywalker.
Now whether that was Geoge Lucas's original intention is debatable.
The Star Wars universe will continue with the graphic novels and the books.
But Star Wars on the big screen will end on May 19th, 2005.
Now I'm wondering is, what will be the final shot of ROTS?
If you noticed the Original Trilogy (ANH, ESB and ROTJ) and the Prequel Trilogy (PM, AOTC and ROTS) follow similar patterns. OT was Luke's rise as a Jedi then his temptation by the Dark Side and his turning away at almost the last second.
PT has been Anakin's rise as a Jedi, temptation by the Dark Side and in his case succumbing to it.
The first two of the PT ended similarly as the first 2 of the OT, ANH ended with a medal ceremony, TPM ended with Amidala giving Boss Nass the glowing orb of peace or whatever that's called and ended with a shot like ANH. with the group of heroes standing together in a group shot on a pedestal.
AOTC like ESB ended with a shot of 2 characters standing with their backs to us looking out over a view. ESB, Luke and Leia looking at a galaxy with the Falcon flew away from them.
AOTC with Anakin and Padme', Luke and Leia's parents looking out at a view of a sunset.
Now ROTS may be somewhat different, the last shot of ROTJ had a group shot of all the main characters in a group shot in the Ewok village.
But near the end we saw a shot of Obi-Wan, Yoda amd Anakin's spirits watching Luke and the others.
Now it maybe similar to that with either Bail, his wife and Baby Leia or Owen, Beru and Baby Luke or I'll go out in left field and say it may be Obi-Wan, Yoda and Qui-Gon's spirit.
Good chance I'm wrong, because I've been staying as far away as possible from any spoilers.
Any ideas, or am I full of crap? :D

I thought the final shot was going to be Vader, Sidious/Palpatine, and a slightly younger Tarkin staring off into space at the under construction Death Star. I could be wrong as I haven't read the book or script or anything like that, but that's what I heard.

Look,as much that I love the Star Wars movies,I wouldnt go camping to see the movie.I saw the original trilogy back in 1997,
when it was the 20th anniversary realese and I was impressed.
People really love this movies(Cant blame them though).
But going out camping to see the movie only is too much.
I could watch the original trilogy the only way it has been possible,in your old TV set.But regarding Episode III I cant say it looks insane.I always wanted to see Anakin putting on the Vader helmet....and to learn why he turned to the Dark Side.
The space battles of Episode III looks promising,if we see less of Jar Jar Binks the better....finally we would learn why C3PO doesnt remember that he was made by Anakin....
Yes I am anxious to see this movie,I liked Episode II,it wasnt that bad,it had its moments.....I didnt liked the dialogue between
Padme and Anakin,it sounded too corny though....
Episode II is far superior that Episode I!
The only good thing about Episode I was the pod race and
the space battles....
Darth Maul was a veru intriguing character, too bad that he was killed before we learned more about him....
And finally, seeing Yoda using a green saber was.....fascinating?

Well, I do know that all of the movies end in a dialogue-less scene. I'd put my money on either Backward Galaxy's theory of Vader and Palpatine (I don't think it's Tarkin -- but I could be wrong) supervising the construction of the Death Star; or like you suggested CLS either Owen and Beru holding Luke or Bail holding Leia if Lucas wants to end the movie with a lighter note. I wouldn't mind the last shot being Vader crossing his arms.

Picked up a copy of Entertainment Weekly issue #813. There are 6 different SW covers to choose from. Inside the issue they give a couple Epi III spoilers which are:
1) Count Dooku falls prey to Lucas' hand-chopping fixation.
2) Chewbacca not only makes an appearance but performs a crucial service to the Jedi.
3) Mace Windu meets his end in the battle with Anakin and the Emperor.
4) We se the first Jedi Master to communicate from beyond: Qui-Gon Jinn sends messages to Yoda.
5) Anakin seals his shift to the dark side by leading a death squad into the Jedi Temple.
There is also a 40 question quiz covering all of the movies.
GL is planning on releasing all 6 movies in 3D starting in 2007.
Just finished the last of the Han Solo Series which ends off right before Han meets Obi-Wan and Luke. So now I know exactly why Jabba is after Han and know why Lando is upset with him. I was going to read the Han Solo Adventures but since I'm right up to the point of A New Hope I would much rather continue with the sequence of events.

So I was at the laundromat on Sunday, and the guy that runs the place, Tony, was talking to this other guy, Keith, about Star Wars. I turned around and started talking to them, and it turns out that Keith works for ILM, and actually worked on special effects for the Star Wars films!
I talked with him a little about the movies, and what he does for the company. It was pretty amazing. I've never met anyone who worked on a film that huge. He's seen most of Episode III, although he saw it without music.
Anyway, I didn't really ask him for any spoilers. I don't really want to know, and I figured he probably wouldn't tell me even if I did. Still, he was a really nice guy.
He actually told me a pretty funny story, though. I asked him if he had ever met George Lucas before, and he said that he sees him at work all the time. He's talked with him a little, but obviously he's a busy man. So, then he says that Lucas actually almost ran him over in the parking lot one time. He got out of his car and apologized. I guess he didn't see him. Keith says he's a really nice guy, and he felt really sorry that he almost ran over one of his employees. :)
Anyway, I just thought I'd share that with you all. It was pretty cool talking with him.

One of the reasons why it gets a PG-13 rating is the whole Wookiee fight... according to George Lucas... a lot of limbs get cut off.

01 - Star Wars and The Revenge Of The Sith 7:31
The normal opening crawl is short-lived, unlike other episodes. Whereas normally the scroll fades into infinity, the last part is cut off by a very adventurous yet dangerous motif – the space battle over Coruscant. After this brief motif, we are first introduced into the one of the most constant Themes on the soundtrack - The Force Theme (which is under-scored with a militaristic beat similar to the Droid Invasion Theme from EPISODE I) which continues for quite a while; no doubt following a long camera shot into battle. The rest of the track continues in this fashion.
02 - Anakin's Dream 4:46
A beautiful Viola solo accompanied by a harp opens Anakin’s Dream. Across the Stars soon can be heard underneath the solo before the darker string section hits, and uncertainity arises, only to once again fall into the Love Theme. After more dark cues, the Force Theme echoes things to come.
03 - Battle Of The Heroes 3:42
The new major Theme for Star Wars. The theme consists of a busy bass line with choral pieces intertwined.
04 - Anakin's Betrayal 4:04
Sections of the Love Theme again can be heard with strings and horns interwoven.
05 - General Grievous 4:07
A 'congo' sounding piece that no doubt will sound fantastic on screen.
06 - Palpatine's Teachings 5:25
This track reminds one of the soundtrack of the Dark Crystal. A deep male voice 'chants' with a metallic sound over the top. It then moves into the Love Theme which flows into Vader's Theme. Followed is a variation on the Force Theme - kinda interesting. After some more dark music, a brilliant Arrival at Coruscant theme from EPISODE I ends the piece.
07 - Grievous and the Droids 3:28
Standard fight music here. Very much reminiscent of the EPISODE I 'Droid Invasion' piece.
08 - Padme's Ruminations 3:17
Deadly eerie. It doesn't sound like it should be in Star Wars. A long note held on a double bass glides as Amazonian-like flutes and a synthesised female's solo flows over top. This is just very eerie.
It is soon followed by a movement in the lower strings section that reminds one of Palpatine's Chambers in RETURN OF THE JEDI. Horns pulse every now and then.
09 - Anakin vs. Obi-Wan 3:57
Battle of the Heroes starts off this piece before we quickly get into Vader's Theme. Back to Battle of the Heroes; first solo, then the string section picks it up. There is then another familiar theme (the one which was played during the teaser trailer as Vader rises). We then have a busy string section before more Vader's Theme - followed again by that 'familiar' theme. Enter the Chorus and another section of Battle of Heroes that crescendos into strings and soon the Force Theme with a pumping base raises its head, followed again by Battle of the Heroes.
10 - Anakin's Dark Deeds 4:05
Begins quietly then leads to a wall of chorus (very Lords of the Rings-ish). After a 'fight' like music, it enters on a really soft section that echoes the way Padme is represented in this score. The ending is so sad to the track before before brass finishes it off.
11 - Enter Lord Vader 4:14
A soft introduction is soon met with variations of the Battle of the Heroes Theme. There is a small part of this that reminds of the music from the Rebels in the Original Trilogy. A miliatristic section soon ends with Vader's Theme and another playing of the Force Theme which is followed by the Emperor's Theme.
12 - The Immolation Scene 2:42
A dark and omnious piece.
13 - Grievous Speaks to Lord Sidious 2:49
Most have heard this on Starwars.com. The end of this piece is a variation on the Love Theme which is dark.
14 - The Birth Of The Twins and Padme's Destiny 3:37
A lilting bass line from Across the Stars is over-scored by a harp and glockenspiel. It is then followed by a majestic version of Qui-Gon's Funeral Theme (which may have just become the Naboo Funeral Theme) and is played about three times in total.
15 - A New Hope and End Credits 13:06
This is the longest piece of music on the soundtrack. A beautiful segue into Leia's Theme is followed by the Force Theme. The Force Theme is repeated and grows (but don't expect a big finale) before we enter the End Credit sequence.
Leia's Theme follows the standard Star Wars End Credit Theme. Battle of the Heroes takes off where Leia's Theme finishes. The Throne Room Theme then hits in at the end of BotH. The middle section of the The Throne Room is extremely legato compared to the ending in A NEW HOPE. After this part is finished its back into the main section.
It sounds like it is about to finish as in A NEW HOPE when it suddenly enters a really delicate version of the Force Theme. The Theme then shifts up and plays again before entering the Throne Room Theme once more. This plays out until the finale Star Wars Theme.

I reckognized it when I saw it. It's actually cover art for one of the books. I'm not sure which one but I think its one from the second trilogy by Zahn...the one with "The Hand of Thrawn" in it. The second Thrawn trilogy is cool even without the Grand Admiral actually in it. It gives some background on him and it shows you the type of fanatical loyalty he was able to inspire in his troops. The best part is when Leia is told about the first time the Empire encounters Thrawn. They tell Leia that when Thrawn met them in battle he was outnumbered 3 to 1 in ships that were inferior even on a 1 to 1 basis. Leia's response (having seen Thrawn in action) ....."How badly did he beat them?" ....answer... "Completely...he spared only one ship."
Bottom line....the dude was a bad motha-
SHUT YO MOUTH!!
I'm just talkin' 'bout Thrawn.

yeah 29 days do seem like a long time, but I remember this time last year and THAT seemed like an eternity. I CAN NOT WAIT for this movie to come out. The script is on the internet and I'm dying trying to keep myself from reading it. I have all of the soundtracks but I'm going to refrain from buying this one until after the movie is released. If I listen to it beforehand, my mind will concetrate on going along to the music instead of paying attention to the dialouge.
Thanks Ya'll. :o And I just made Yoda status, perfect timing, huh?
I'm so bummed this week--I was supposed to be at Celebration but had to back out of the trip.... :\
All my buds are there *sniff*
Oh well, I still have the movie to look forward to.
28 Days now!! :D
I just looked on my work schedule and I have to work the 19th-22nd!! NOOO!!! *cries* I'll have to wait until the 23rd to watch it.

oh...theres nothing wrong with getting the soundtrack first. besides, i doubt you'll concentrate on the music once the movie starts cuz wat u see will always be more interesting than wat u hear. its not like it'd spoil the movie for you.
