Who else thinks he's hot? I find him extremely sexy and mysterious but, it seems like this is not the general consensus. I find everything about him sexy. From his lip scar and his oddly jointed shoulders to his sexy slurry relaxing voice. I actually think I find him more attractive than Tom! *gasp* I never thought that could be possible of anyone.

I would also like to add that he's my favorite actor, because of his skill. He's amazingly diverse with each role he has. He brings his characters to life. My favorites are: Quills, Buffalo Soldiers, The Yards. Even though The Yards wasn't the greatest movie, Jaoquin did an amazing job acting in it.

Dukegirl, you should definitely rent 'Buffalo Soldiers'...it's a great movie. But, it's sort of a dark comedy...not for the easily offended. But it's really funny and unique!

Sharkie, it's fine to not think he's attractive. Personally I don't understand why everyone doesn't drool over him. But, i'm glad people have different taste when it comes to attractiveness...it helps the world stay unique and interesting.

I've loved him ever since I first saw him in To Die For which he was brilliant in. Actually I first saw him in Parenthood but I didn't know how cute he'd grow up to be. I know his character Commodus in Gladiator is a nasty piece of work but he still makes my knees melt with that creepy devellish brooding thing hes got going on there. It's just his eyes and his eyebrows combined - Wow. So you can guess what I voted for :)....Love the pics.

He was absolutely awesome as Commodus, he should've won the best supporting actor oscar... i thought personally he almost but not quite stole the film from Russell Crowe.

I just saw the movie U Turn (1997), in which joaquin has a small role, and his acting was absolutely excellent in it. The movie itself was boring and meaningless but I was amazed at Joaquin's abilities mainly because I barely recognized him. Acting alongside Claire Danes who also did an excellent job at playing a very unique character.

Well, he's got the cleft lip scar on his lip. And he's also got the shoulder thing..(they're like permanently pushed forward and slouchy)...but both of those things just add to his sexiness!

I didn't get to see 'Ladder 49' on Friday but, I saw it tonight, and WOW! I recommend this movie to everyone, it's incredible! Joaquin's acting was excellent.

IMO Tom is much better looking than Joaquin. But for looks I prefered his brother :( Poor River...

:lol: I like happy endings too. Sometimes we need a "good" sad ending to make us realize certain truths in life. I just think it was a good tribute to firefighters. But, I see your point if you hate sad endings.

Inventing the Abbotts is my favorite Joaquin movie. "space camp" is my favorite young Joaquin movie. :p

I think that Tom Welling and Joaquin Phoenix are two of the sexiest men alive. River was gorgeous too, in a more Tom Welling "traditional" kind of way. I like Joaquin's edge...and I thinks he's one of the best actors of our time.

I just discovered this thread, and after watching Return to Paradise (movie with Anne Heche as his sister-his role is sort of small) it's kinda funny...I think he's incredibly sexy in a totally different way than Tom. Tom is easy on the eyes, no doubt. But sometimes his acting detracts from his attractiveness. Joaquin is just an amazing actor-and his ability on screen only makes him more attractive physically. I loved him in Parenthood (great movie all-around anyway) and he was so good in Ladder 49-I can't wait to rent it and watch it again! I wasn't a big fan of Buffalo Soldiers-but it was decent.

Another great one to check out from his youth is Russkies! So hilarious and a total statement on the American point of view in the mid 80s towards Russia (USSR? I can't remember what it was called then).

He is one of the most talented actors in Hollywood right now.

I've read two interviews recently (actual interviews are from several years ago) where Joaquin states that his "lip scar" is not from a hair lip surgery. He tells a story about how his mom was laying on a hammock and suddenly felt a surge of pain and then he happened to be born with a lip scar. :\

Just thought i'd mention that since back on the first page we were talking about whether it was a hair-lip scar or not. :)

He told a story about his mom taking him to the doctor as a baby for just a routine check-up and the doctor said, "Who did this hair lip surgery? It's the best i've ever seen!" :lol: and his mom told him it was just a scar he was born with.

There's something about Joaquin that's just....grrrrr...so sexy! He's definately my favorite actor, he is just amazingly talented. But what makes him so attractive, besides his piercing eyes and dark mysterious features, is that he seems so innocent and kind. Joaquin seems like a wounded soul and someone you just want to baby and take care of..:lol: if that makes any sense. I think alot of his intensity comes from being wounded by the death of his brother (River Phoenix). River was also extremely talented and amazingly good-looking. If River was alive today I just know he'd be an A-list actor just like Johnny Depp or Keanu Reeves, i'm not sure Joaquin would have made it so big. He probably would have slipped into the background while his brother took the spotlight.

There are certain actors that movie producers are desperate to get for their movies, this actor usually makes between 20 and 30 million a movie and can get anything they want in Hollywood. Those are the A-list actors. Not even Joaquin is an A-list yet, but I have a feeling studio's will be begging him to do their movies someday.

I think what probably triggered it was seeing him in 8mm. The movie was kinda crazy, but JP was the best part about it. Him and his blue hair, (practically Jhonen Vasquez like) was hott! lol

Joaquin Phoenis is one of my favorite actors. If you like him, check out "To Die For" and "Clay Pigeons." "To Die For" stars Nicole Kidman as a b**chy TV Weatherwoman who seduces Phoenix into murdering her husband. Also stars Matt Dillon, Casey Affleck (Ben's Brother), and Illeana Douglas. "Clay Pigeons" is really good, too. Stars Vince Vaughn also. Seriously, they're both good.
