Quantum Leap Mafia Game Thread

Welcome to Quantum Leap Mafia!!! Before we start, we gotta go through those pesky rules!:lol:

General Rules:
1. Mel and I are the game moderators. We have ultimate authority over the game, but we are human beings. We make mistakes. Please be kind to us and show us some respect.
2. Everyone is assigned a role/character at random by us. You must keep your role a secret at all times.
3. The game operates in two phases: Day and Night. Day phases will last be 5 days long and Night phases last no longer than 48 hours.
4. During the Day Phase, players discuss who they think is scum and will have the chance to vote on someone to be lynched.
5. During the Night Phase, those with special abilities will PM their targets to Mel and I. Absolutely no discussion in the thread is allowed during the Night phase.
6. Townies are NOT allowed to talk with any other player outside the thread concerning mafia (unless their role allows them to). Mafia are only allowed to PM each other/Instant message eachother during the Night phase.
7. If you die at any point in the game, you are allowed ONE BRIEF farewell post, then you are not allowed to post in the thread again. Dead people can post in the graveyard thread, but please follow the graveyard rules.
8. Stay active! Posting off topic is NOT encouraged. You must make 3 posts per day phase. If you cannot make this limit before deadline, please let us know. If you do not give us a reason for your absence and you do not make the post quota, you will be modkilled!
9. Do not quote anything outside this thread as evidence and DO NOT EDIT your post!
10. Above all, HAVE FUN!

Day Rounds:
Each Day round will consist of each player throwing around suspicions and accusations of who is in the mafia. The mafia will use this time to “deceive” the other players and often try to throw suspicion on others. If you are a townie it is your job to figure out who is lying and who is telling the truth. This won’t always be an easy feat. I advise every player to participate in discussions as much as possible, but we only require each player to post 3 times per round (some cases may vary). The more you participate, the more fun the game will be. At any time you can give a player an IGMEOY or FOS (see common terms and acronyms). These are used to show the other players who you find suspicious. When you think you have enough evidence to lynch somebody, you may vote for that person.

Voting:
1. Votes must be cast in the following format: VOTE: Player X. Any vote that is not in this format will NOT count.
2. If you want to change your vote, you must first UNVOTE.
3. The number of votes required for a lynch is the majority of the players (if even # of players: 1/2 of the players plus 1; if odd # of players: 1/2 of the players plus .5.
4. Once the required number of votes is reached on a given player, that player will be lynched. After that you cannot change your vote or unvote. Shortly after, a lynch story will soon be posted and the Night Phase will begin. After the lynching story, everyone will be allowed one post to react to the death.
5. At deadline, if the required number of votes is NOT reached, a reduced number of votes will be accepted. This is half the original required number of votes. If there is a tie, whoever reached the number first will be lynched.
6. At deadline, if the reduced number of votes is not met, there won't be a lynch.
7. You can also vote NO LYNCH. If majority votes for a NO LYNCH, then the round will end there. There is NO reduced number of votes at deadline for NO LYNCH.

Night Rounds:
1. No posting in the thread during a Night phase.
2. Any player with a special ability will have a deadline to send in an ability PM. If the player misses deadline, then the ability won't count.

Roles:
Every role we have assigned in this game is based off a character from the entire series of Quantum Leap. Everyone is assigned a character at random, but not all characters will have a Special Ability (vanilla townie or mafia goon). You must try and keep your role a secret. Role-claiming is NOT allowed. We will NOT tell you every single special ability that is found in the game, but here is what you can expect:
*1 Godfather
*2 roleblockers (one mafia, one townie)
*1 cop/detective
*1 doctor/protector
*1 vigilante
*And possibly others!

Role-Claiming:
In previous games, role-claiming was allowed. It was a last resort to keep from getting lynched. We have decided that this game will not allow any type of role-claiming or character-claiming. You are not allowed to say who your character is, or what your powers are (if any.) and you are not allowed to hint at your role/character with creative posts or avi's!!!

Other Rules:
1. Please obey all K-Site rules!
2. No discussion of ships is allowed! And lets keep the pics and gifs down to a minimum please!
3. No flame wars, personal arguments, or offensive language!
4. Remember that this is JUST A GAME! Don't take this game too personally..

Common Terms and Acronyms:
IGMEOY: “I got my eye on you”
FOS: finger of suspicion
BWCS: best worst case scenario
AtE: appeal to emotion
Hammer vote: a final vote that lynches a player
L-#: used to describe how many votes a player is away from being lynched. For example: If it takes 5 votes to lynch and a player has 3 votes that player is at L-2
LyLo: “lynch-or-lose” Used to describe a situation when the town does not lynch, they lose.
MyLo: “mislynch-or-lose” Used to describe a situation when the town mislynches, they lose. However, a No Lynch will usually lead to another round.
SK: serial killer
RVS: “random voting stage” – commonly used at the beginning of the game as a way to get the game going. Players will usually vote each other for random reasons.
EBWOP: “edit by way of post” – since you are not allowed to edit your posts, if you have an edit you need to make, make a NEW post with EBWOP at the top and state your changes. Editing your post with the acronym “EBWOP” is not allowed. You must make a NEW post, hence the acronym “Edit by way of post.“ If you made a typo, leave it, and make a new post to correct it. If you edit your post, some people might think you are trying to hide something. You can’t take back anything you say in the Mafia.
Lurking: Used to describe someone who is online and reads the thread but makes few posts OR someone who isn’t very active. (this is NOT encouraged)

Everybody ready?? Ok, Day 1 starts now with the story Mel will post..

Theorizing that one could travel within his own lifetime, Dr. Sam Beckett stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished. He awoke to find himself trapped in the past, facing mirror images that were not his own, and driven by an unknown force to change history for the better. His only guide on this journey is Al; an observer from his own time, who appears in the form of a hologram that only Sam can see and hear. And so Dr. Beckett finds himself leaping from life to life, striving to put right what once went wrong, and hoping that each time that his next leap will be the leap home.



Day 1

Dr. Sam Beckett took in his latest surroundings, he had leaped once again. He suspected that it was sometime in the 1960's if the clothes people were wearing and the cars on the street were anything to go by. He knew Al would come and give him a more definite assessment soon.


Suddenly he heard the familiar sound of the Imaging Chamber. Al was now here to tell him the rest of the information like he was on most leaps to unfamiliar places. The door of the chamber closes as Al begins his greeting with the usual grumbling about something happening in the 1990's that Sam has no real part of anymore. Eventually the older man gets to the point of why Sam was currently standing in an unfamiliar street somewhere in 1960's America.

Sam watched as Al hit the hand link on its side trying to access the correct information, which always seemed to get jumbled up the first time the former navy admiral looked at it during each leap. After a few more taps the device finally had the content two men needed.


“What's the best Ziggy can come up with for why I'm here, Al?” Sam asked him

“It's March 19, 1966, and you're in Oakland, California. Your name is...” Al lost access to the rest of the message before he could give it to Sam. He taps it again as the hand-link makes a few odd sounds before returning to its usual way of functioning. Sam will be told his hosts' name once Al gets back to the headquarters anyway.


The project observer's face looked visibly upset and annoyed as he explained the next thing he read. He turned the hand-link's monitor toward his friend and showed Sam what it read. They both gave each other an alarmed look as Al decided to get back to 1999, his own time, to discuss the latest developments with the team at Project Quantum Leap.

“I'll be back later, after I check with Ziggy about what's going on here,” he explained

Sam knew that these new facts meant trouble, but now he was left with less than Al had given him in all the years of his leaping. He had no idea what to do about it. He hoped he could at least find out some way of figuring out what had happened here and what had originally gone wrong.


“Just try to figure out how this happened again. I really don't want this kind of history repeating itself,” he requested

Al nodded and waved with his cigar in his hand as the Imaging Chamber door opened then closed behind him.


“Oh boy,” Sam muttered to himself as he continued to think about what they'd gotten themselves into this time.

We're both doing okay, and the whole family is trying to adjust to the change. I have no idea how much I'll be around for the next couple of weeks...maybe a lot, maybe not. My life isn't my own anymore. Someone else makes the rules now :lol:

Anyways, i think no night 0 is kind of a good and bad thing at the same time. A good thing because night information can confuse us defiantly, But a bad thing because that night information could be vital to starting off day 1 discussions. But its interesting to see who comes in and does what with no information.

Yes, it can be a bad thing I suppose on that front but the first night (as in 0) can be pretty useless tho too. Yeah true, but sometimes blindess is good. Like say if you are a certain role (maybe a recruiting mason) and you cant use your powers till day 1, you can see who most likely you would like to be with for the game and instead of randomly doing something, you can see how others interact this day and in the following day (when the people with powers do get information) we can see how they differ in opinoins due to that night information :lol: thats my opinoin on the situation.

Ok, well 13 divided by 3 is 4.3, so we're probably looking at at least 3 scum, and a traitor, hopefully that fourth scum member is a traitor and not in addition to the 4, because 4 and a half scum seems like a little much.

I agree. Having a strong mindset so early can actually, imo, make it easy for scum to influence. However, I am not prepared myself to make a list..tbh I was more surprised by the statement as if one was expected, did i miss something because its day one of day one. How they heck am I suppose to have much of anything at this point? Maybe tomorrow when more ppl post but..um..

I think, depending on the roles, it is probably worse for the townies than the mafia. The mafia wouldn't be able to kill Night 0 anyway, and this way townies don't get to try to find important information before Day 1. For example, last game I would have found out that Alex was Zod on Night 0 if I hadn't had my role switched around by somebody else. That would have been a very useful Night 0 discovery. So I think it's worse for the townies to not have this day. On the other hand, the mafia sometimes have recruiting roles or spying roles, so it's good that those can't be used Night 0 either. So it kind of depends on what roles are in the game.
I don't really mind though, cause it's probably because there are so few players, and it would make it less confusing for new mods.

I find it interesting that you don't even mention the mafia in this post, E. And I think that even if Night information can be confusing, it's better than no Night info at all.

I agree with your guess as to the reason. And like I said, I don't really mind, but it would be nice for the townies to be able to try to get some kind of info.

That's kind of how Dylon always plays though. :lol: Although I agree that it's far too early in the day to be saying what he's saying; a lot of things could happen. We don't only rely on Night info, most of what's important is said in the thread.

I don't really know how to answer this question, obviously we expect to learn the scum, about Day 1, I don't know what similar would be, regardless of past games we just need to all contribute and put pressure on people and do our best to scum hunt.

Sticking up for someone could mean defending them, or explaining their actions or words (weather they are present or not). Its usually like this for example i would stick up for someone by explaining their point of views to everyone else to persuade everyone not to lynch them (remembering our mason days in mafia.)
and well okay, what i mean by interesting is that i think they are kind of fluffing a little too much but at the same time i cant say much because i kind of am too and most of us are tired so im going to cut them some slack and it is just day 1, day 1. Yeah well when I wrote that most of their interaction hadn't happened yet so yes it was E but now I see what you mean. But I don't know, she was asking questions before being called on so I'm definitely keeping an eye on her. I'm not saying she's scummy, but there is something to watch out for I guess. Okay .. thanks lol.. no biggie. I figured it was but then I wondered if it was Hannah. So..

Anyway. E.. At this point i dunno. E is.. There's been times when I think.. E is absolute scum..or townie. But I started to realize last game that E reacts more to her role as in the ability or its uniquiness then to what she is as far as townie/scum. I think she twigs more when she is something she has never been before or isn't sure how to be.

Has E ever been scum? Plus I've always scene her be defensive to some degree and even loud and noticeable. I haven't played with her as much as someone like Laura so perhaps she is being more spotlight ish but I don't know yet. Being first day(as in today not round) I am in watch mode rather then judgement mode. It will be interesting to see how ppl continue to react once we have more meat and game play.

Perhaps my judgement is off because of that. I did think she was being super fluffy and reacted rather strong to peoples beginning suspicions of her, and I did seem to think she was trying to put people in bad light, but I could be wrong.

E, I don't know, It's hard to tell with her, Lou brought up a nice point that maybe helpful was a cover up... but I don't know. Lou, the only thing I can say is that her 'lynch me now' stood out, but that seems like I'm reaching. Jenny seems logical, and a bit careful about the interaction between E and Hannah, it's logical so I can't fault her for that, and it could be a townie observation, or scum move, there's no way to tell.

Mica I think was really quick to get into the game which I like, but wonder, is it just to look like an effective townie? I think once more players come in, we will repeat a lot of the same things we said before i just feel it, it usually happens. When someone is absent and isnt THERE in the situation they get confused and go with the opinion of the first person in the thread (usually in my eyes i see it that way)

But hopefully some people might say different things, like you kitty and Jenny you guys have a sort of broad mind IMO. about some things in the game that i find interesting. ( in a good way ):lol:

Ok, since there aren't many people yet, we still need to focus on progress, and do as much as we can, so for starts I have a questioned that I'd like everyone to answer. What is your reaction to No Night 0?

I just think it's their way of making the game different? So there is like a 100% chance that absolutely no one knows anything coming into the game. The townies don't have any results for their powers, and the mafia haven't been able to talk to each other and make plans (realistically they have.. but still).

HEY, everybody! I'm present and accounted for, but unfortunately can only be online for about... two more minutes most likely, and then, it's highly possible that I won't be seeing you all again for another two days. The wonderful world of parent-teacher conferences is about to begin, which equates to two back-to-back twelve-hour work days, and I usually end up collapsing with a brain that feels like oatmeal after they're over, so expect to see much more of me starting on Thursday night, or maybe Friday, since I'll still be likely to be recovering after conferences end Thursday evening. :lol:

In the meantime, a few comments I have so far in response to what I scanned over of the posts thus far:

1) CONGRATULATIONS, FZ!!!! That is AWESOME!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D I'm SOOOOOOOOOOO happy for you, my friend!!!

2) To answer Guru's question, I am kinda bummed about the lack of Night 0. It's pretty much the only time that the TWSAs can gather useful information prior to the killings starting, and it can give them a good head-start. Granted, people like the mafia spy, and some other powered mafia roles could use it to their advantage to build a knowledge base, too, but I've always thought that Night 0 was more helpful to the townies than to the scum.

3) General impressions I've seen so far are Guru being really gung-ho, jumping in with lots of conversation points, responding to everything, and already tossing out mild accusations, while questioning whether or not he's going "too easy" on people. :lol: Seems like pretty much par for the course for what I'm used to seeing from him, and I'll look forward to actually getting to play another game with him, since it's been like... three games or so since that happened, right? E appears to be doing her normal "jumping in headfirst and garnering some attention along the way" gig, for better or for worse, so that's nothing new, either. I didn't make very much of Laura's comment about "Lynch me now," but then again, I was the one who thought it wouldn't sound scummy when I talked like that and WAS scum, so I guess I'm not the best judge. Regardless, though, I didn't get a weird vibe from it. I don't know what to make of anyone else yet, as those three are the ones who have done the bulk of the talking thus far.

Hopefully the next couple of days will give me a lot more to weigh in on, and more evidence that I can use later on down the road. So, like I said earlier, while I may be missing in action for the better part of the next 48 hours or so, I WILL be back, and ready to fully join in the scum-hunting fray!

P.S. Who was the Hacker last game on the Mafia team? I can't remember... 'cause they're the person I'd really like to RVS, seeing as my game has been ruined by hackers two games in a row. :p

Responding to some things that were discussed earlier in the day. I’m only up to Page 4 so far, so bear with me.

First off, Congrats FZ on your baby girl! I’m super excited for you and wish you and your beautiful baby all the best. We’ll miss you around here but we know you have much more important and wonderful things on your plate at the moment. Please pop in and visit us when you can.

I read the Day 1 story. Great job Mel! I too recognized all the characters. It finally pays to be old for once. :lol: Unfortunately, the story did not give any hints at whom the scum characters might be though with this show, I have no idea what Mel & Jim came up with. There were only 2 characters that were in every single episode and they were both good. So I’m clueless to whom the scum might be in this game. This show was so long ago too and my memory is freaking awful.

As for the number of scum, with 14 players in this game, I’m thinking 5 scum total (including traitor or SK) would be a little excessive so I’m really hoping it’s 4 scum total. I think they will have either a SK or traitor but probably not both. I just hope that everyone is active and posts like last game. With such a small group, it’s going to take a group effort to pull out a win.

When I first saw on the thread that there was no night 0, I was surprised because I don’t remember ever playing in the game where there was no night 0. My first reaction was that this was more beneficial to the scum but there is something in it for us townies as well. With no night 0, you are also taking away the mafia’s ability to find out stuff about townies, townies with special abilities in particular. When you’re mafia, knowledge is power. It guides you in the game and the more you know, the stronger of a team you are. Last game, we found out FZ was the Doctor and that Mica was Tess on Night 0. That was a very productive night for us and it guided every move we made from there on. So while I think it’s beneficial to the scum, I also see how it’s beneficial to us townies.

Now I totally get what you meant. I like your way of thinking there and I think you've made a great point. Though I must admit, whether I'm townie or scum, I tend to pretty much answer all questions asked unless I feel my answer may somehow hurt the town. Asking questions and seeing people's responses to them is a great way to scum hunt, especially in Day 1 when we don't have much to go off of. Like you said, the replies and the manner in which they are given can be very telling.

Well they kind of are because they are telling me what he said, so its sticking up for him. Sticking up for someone could mean defending them, or explaining their actions or words (weather they are present or not). Its usually like this for example i would stick up for someone by explaining their point of views to everyone else to persuade everyone not to lynch them (remembering our mason days in mafia.)
and well okay, what i mean by interesting is that i think they are kind of fluffing a little too much but at the same time i cant say much because i kind of am too and most of us are tired so im going to cut them some slack and it is just day 1, day 1. So im not making any hard accusations "intresting" would mean that im observing what you are saying but not going to make a big deal out of it.

Nobody is sticking up for me............they are just trying to straight you out.

Some general and very quick thoughts on what I've read so far. Just initial impressions so please don't jump down my throat. :p

Dylon - So far, I think this might be the most I've seen him post in Day 1, like ever. Especially on day 1 of day 1.
K4J - seems like the same K4J that I played with in X-Men Mafia 2. I suspected him in that game because he seemed to be pushing too hard and he was a little grumpy (:p) but he turned out to a townie and the JOAT too. So I hope it's the case here again.
Laura - she seemed to be watching people's reactions and not saying as much as she usually does but now I got a chance to ask her a little bit more about her mindset and I think she might have been scum hunting in her own way.
Jenny - from what I've seen so far, playing it a little bit safer than last game but it could be because she had an amazing role last game that she got to use right away both during the night and day round.

But since there's not a lot at the moment, there's not really a whole lot I can say. But the problem I'm having now is, E is now centre of attention again. This early I normally wouldn't worry but we have a tendency to always be suspicious of E, only this time I'm wondering if the new helpfulness is really cover.

Firstly 'all probablywrong anyways' ?!? lol wheres confident Pali gone? ;) I understand things were heating up a bit, and yea i was involved but looking back now i think it just literaly was since its begining and not much else to go on, we were just picking and over analysing any point someone made which got (mentioning no names, E :p ) some people a bit riled up.

But about K4J and Dylon, i didnt notice jenny but on the topic of subtle ways its was kittys was what i notcied.... so far what ive seen of K4J has been overall a very toned down version of a player i usualy see - like when things did get heated up yesterday it was like wasnt too involved, but yet very subtly adding fuel causing more..

Yeah i guess it must be difficult since you guys havent really seen all my playing styles lol unless you wanna go on perhaps the one post i did in TDK mafia...;) But actualy last game when i didnt know what my role was at begining, i truthfully just thought i was a townie with some sorta special power that would later be revealed lol it came as shock that i was really one of the bad guys so if ya wanna base anything on me how ever i played in SV (basicaly most of last game actualy since i only found out for the last day) is a good shot! :)

Ok i know we said we should leave this but omg we just went through all of that like the post before, and I DID SAY IT BEFORE K$J!!! Even he confirmed that, but then said it was scummy that i was reinforcing it afterwards too or something like that...:\




I also think Hannah is acting weird, it's much like she has acted in the two previous games, when she was not a townie, which is not good, but I really have a hard time reading her as I haven't seen her as an active townie, ever. Perhaps my judgement is off because of that. I did think she was being super fluffy and reacted rather strong to peoples beginning suspicions of her, and I did seem to think she was trying to put people in bad light, but I could be wrong.

E, I don't know, It's hard to tell with her, Lou brought up a nice point that maybe helpful was a cover up... but I don't know. Lou, the only thing I can say is that her 'lynch me now' stood out, but that seems like I'm reaching. Jenny seems logical, and a bit careful about the interaction between E and Hannah, it's logical so I can't fault her for that, and it could be a townie observation, or scum move, there's no way to tell.

Not having a Night 0 really handicaps teh townies. The scums know their own bothers & sisters in the game, but the townies with SAs don't have the chance to find a scum or another townie on their side.

HEY, everybody! I'm present and accounted for, but unfortunately can only be online for about... two more minutes most likely, and then, it's highly possible that I won't be seeing you all again for another two days. The wonderful world of parent-teacher conferences is about to begin, which equates to two back-to-back twelve-hour work days, and I usually end up collapsing with a brain that feels like oatmeal after they're over, so expect to see much more of me starting on Thursday night, or maybe Friday, since I'll still be likely to be recovering after conferences end Thursday evening. :lol:

In the meantime, a few comments I have so far in response to what I scanned over of the posts thus far:

1) CONGRATULATIONS, FZ!!!! That is AWESOME!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D I'm SOOOOOOOOOOO happy for you, my friend!!!

2) To answer Guru's question, I am kinda bummed about the lack of Night 0. It's pretty much the only time that the TWSAs can gather useful information prior to the killings starting, and it can give them a good head-start. Granted, people like the mafia spy, and some other powered mafia roles could use it to their advantage to build a knowledge base, too, but I've always thought that Night 0 was more helpful to the townies than to the scum.

3) General impressions I've seen so far are Guru being really gung-ho, jumping in with lots of conversation points, responding to everything, and already tossing out mild accusations, while questioning whether or not he's going "too easy" on people. :lol: Seems like pretty much par for the course for what I'm used to seeing from him, and I'll look forward to actually getting to play another game with him, since it's been like... three games or so since that happened, right? E appears to be doing her normal "jumping in headfirst and garnering some attention along the way" gig, for better or for worse, so that's nothing new, either. I didn't make very much of Laura's comment about "Lynch me now," but then again, I was the one who thought it wouldn't sound scummy when I talked like that and WAS scum, so I guess I'm not the best judge. Regardless, though, I didn't get a weird vibe from it. I don't know what to make of anyone else yet, as those three are the ones who have done the bulk of the talking thus far.

Hopefully the next couple of days will give me a lot more to weigh in on, and more evidence that I can use later on down the road. So, like I said earlier, while I may be missing in action for the better part of the next 48 hours or so, I WILL be back, and ready to fully join in the scum-hunting fray!

P.S. Who was the Hacker last game on the Mafia team? I can't remember... 'cause they're the person I'd really like to RVS, seeing as my game has been ruined by hackers two games in a row. :p

I have not much to add, I noticed few things, but no time for fully explaining (and they all are probably wrong anyway).......well just a few things: I thought that Jenny´s comment in the beginning sbout Dylon after K4J said he finds his posts interesting was bit weird, seemed like in a very subtle way to get some suspicion onto Dylon. Also I think some bickering in the thread may be just an act of mafia who are encouraged with no night 0....I am talking about K4J and Dylon, and also about Hannah and E.

I don't know about the bold, do you see yourself confident as a townie? What about as scum? Why are you saying this, do you have that low of faith in your suspicions?

You haven't seen me intense? Really, I'm intrigued to see what you thought I was going to be like, if you could explain that to me.

Well I asked yesterday about Night 0, since almost everyone has answered I will give my opinion. I as a person think this is great, it's fair, I don't like Night 0, it bores me, maybe because I never really had a role that did much then, but really last game seeing Alex investigated twice, I didn't think it was fair that she could be caught Night 0 without doing anything, yeah it would have been great for the townies, but I think it would have been rather unfair and basically sucked, so seeing there was no Night 0, I was happy, even if I was someone who could find out if a person was mafia, part of me wouldn't want to,I know sounds strange but I just find that unfair, so I'm excited with the decision.

On the games perspective, I think yeah as a townie, it's unfortunate to come into the game with not much information to go off of, but 'it's not to bad, the mafia also get a disadvantage, if they're recruiting a traitor or have some ability to seek a TwSA. So overall, I'm glad there's no night 0.

I asked the question because I thought it would be interesting to see how people reacted, see if it's true to themselves and what I imagined from them.

What I find interesting about the responses would be, who tried to scare townies, who tried to avoid making a decision, who tried to say no Night 0 was a good thing (because people who said that, could be townies, as you'd think scum might not say that, but they knew I was looking into their answers and they could have tried to play mind games)

I find Alex's answer honest, and even thought it could be looked upon as scaring townies, I'd expect Micas answer as she was in a position where Night 0 was important, so I find her answer honest too. Ultimately Micas answer doesn't mean all that much.

Lou seemed to not want to appear like she was trying to scare townies in my eyes, she could mean it but I'm not sure, I found it weird she missed my question while catching up, I bolded it at all, yeah I can't tell someone you didn't really miss it, but she seemed to think those who answered quickly were scummy, perhaps she said that seeing as how she answered a little late.

Jeff seems to be honest in his answer, I expected him to be a little bit more bummed though, *but maybe it's good as he was bummed as a traitor last game* but he could have possibly toned down his upset so he didn't appear to be scaring townies, and making them more nervous or paranoid.

I find D's answer the strangest, and one of the least descriptive, which obviously isn't a good thing.

For one thing I was really tired yesterday and couldn’t really think straight (as evidenced by the SK thing). I was just kind of trying to get things started like everyone else was, and I found it a little strange that you mentioned that Night info could sometimes confuse townies and sometimes help them, but you didn’t mention the mafia being able to talk or using roles or anything. I don’t know. It was stupid and I don’t see anything in it really. Like I said, I was kind of out of it last night.



However after reading through, I'm more interested in people's reactions to it. How fast they were to answer and what they answered with.
Yeah, that’s what I was thinking too... I think that’s going to be what’s most useful about having no Night 0, seeing how people react.

From what I’ve seen Hannah’s been accused of bandwaggoning, which I think I can see. I’m not positive about ‘who posted what first’ and stuff, but it looks to me that a lot of people have been trying to seem “helpful” so far. Like Hannah, and E, and K4J, actually. Now, I’m pretty sure not all of you are scum, cause scum wouldn’t do that. :lol: For all I know, you’re probably all townies, like what tends to happen. E I was honestly more suspicious of before the argument, because her posts seemed a little different than normal. Like with the question and everything. But then in her arguing posts she seemed a lot like normal E so I don’t know. As for K4J, he seemed... like, more cautious than normal. And the not answering his own question, while I can see his reasoning, stuck out to me at first.


So... some that stick out to me the most so far, are Dylon because of his posts that were very...........well I didn't like them. Though this is the way Dylonplays I am hesitant to suspect him for that, no he doesn't make lists and yeah we all will probably vote no lynch but to say that in what, your first (3??) posts just seems unusual and even out of character for him, yes he would think those two things as a townie BUT I feel it was unnecessary to say and was far to soon. Perhaps it's my different opinion that I am letting interfere which I said I was trying not to do, but you know my 'syndrome' that Summer caught last game. Lol
Dylon seems different this game. Then again, he always seems scummy when he’s not. :lol: But it does seem a bit out of character.


I also think Hannah is acting weird, it's much like she has acted in the two previous games, when she was not a townie, which is not good, but I really have a hard time reading her as I haven't seen her as an active townie, ever. Perhaps my judgement is off because of that. I did think she was being super fluffy and reacted rather strong to peoples beginning suspicions of her, and I did seem to think she was trying to put people in bad light, but I could be wrong.

E, I don't know, It's hard to tell with her, Lou brought up a nice point that maybe helpful was a cover up... but I don't know. Lou, the only thing I can say is that her 'lynch me now' stood out, but that seems like I'm reaching. Jenny seems logical, and a bit careful about the interaction between E and Hannah, it's logical so I can't fault her for that, and it could be a townie observation, or scum move, there's no way to tell.
Hannah seems a bit different to me. E I already mentioned. Laura seems normal. Jenny seems a lot more like she was in SV4 than X-Men 2, which is a good sign.


Mica I think was really quick to get into the game which I like, but wonder, is it just to look like an effective townie? I mean, she says something about E not mentioning the mafia, I don't get that, perhaps she can explain, but something that came off strangest, was and I am not trying to be biast *ok spell check says that word is wrong and idk*, was that she kind of subtly pushed thoughts my way (It didn't work, so maybe I'm wrong) but the whole, 'you're usually very loud and obvious about your thoughts' seemed the kind of thing scum would do, like... I know townies can suspect me, but I guess I expected most everyone to realize I was holding back for a reason, and to ask why I am holding back seemed odd.
I kind of explained some of this earlier in this post. I wasn’t thinking very clearly last night, so that might be to blame for some of it. I wasn’t trying to push any thoughts or anything. And there’s no way for someone to really know what someone’s reasons are for anything, so...

Anyway, this post seems a bit more like the normal you, so that makes me feel a bit better about you.



Dylon - So far, I think this might be the most I've seen him post in Day 1, like ever. Especially on day 1 of day 1.

K4J - seems like the same K4J that I played with in X-Men Mafia 2. I suspected him in that game because he seemed to be pushing too hard and he was a little grumpy (
:p) but he turned out to a townie and the JOAT too. So I hope it's the case here again.

Laura - she seemed to be watching people's reactions and not saying as much as she usually does but now I got a chance to ask her a little bit more about her mindset and I think she might have been scum hunting in her own way.
Laura really hasn’t stood out to me at all so far. I don’t know if that’s good or bad...


Jenny - from what I've seen so far, playing it a little bit safer than last game but it could be because she had an amazing role last game that she got to use right away both during the night and day round.
Jenny seems more townie-like than scum-like to me so far.


As for Hannah and a bandwagon, I didn't see it so much like that from my perspective. But we each have our own opinions. I did notice she came under some heat both from you and E and I thought she handled it pretty well. She actually defended herself and that's what I would expect a townie to do. Fight. Last game when I tried to throw suspicion towards her before I knew she was Doomsday, she sort of ignored it or played it off like it was no big deal. I actually saw her defend herself a bit here. How did she handle accusations in X-Men Mafia 2? Because last game she didn't know who she was allied with early on so that might not be the best comparison.

That’s a good point, and one I didn’t think of. Though scum sometimes really do try hard to defend themselves. I really can’t tell at this point.

Ahh yeah, like my (very stupid) question, i tried to start things too so i get you, and if you want me to talk about mafia umm I think it is an advantage to the mafia, they know who their teamates are and get to talk while the townies dont get to do anything but come in blind. This is just a starting thought list. I could and very well change my opinions as not only is it the 'first day' but not much meat around I can see. Hopefully this changes. Right now I suck because I don't have anyone i feel is def scum .. which has me really unhappy.

Hannah - I do think she is going with some of the thoughts of others, but then so do I, regardless of my role..because if i agree i agree. So while it could be scummy I am not sure. It could just be Hannah agreeing and trying to find somehting to scum hunt on. But the back and forth with E has my attention. Have no clue what it means.

John - I am a little baffled by John, but i usually am. I get his unhappiness with no night 0, so I can't really count that as anything. As I feel scum or townie could get something potentially from the night just as much as I feel it could be useless. I've nothing else that's stood out to me. So for the moment he is just unreadable to me.

Jeff - Jeff.. gah.. um. Okay, he seems townie helpful but I keep thinking..what if he isn't? But i have nothing to hold against him either at this point.

Laura - Laura seems a little quiet to me but she doesn't seem scummy when she posts. I like her wanting to see ppl's reactions to the night 0 thing, even tho it felt like it went mostly into complaining (ppl in general, not Laura), it feels like its scum hunting Laura. It could be something easy for her to latch on to if she is scum but I am not sure.

Mica - Mica I know can be outgoing in posting regardless of what she is. Throwing herself in.. so I can't use that with her. No particular vibe as of yet. She appears to be scum hunting.

Alex - Alex seems townie, but she did last game so.. I think I need her to post more to get a feel. Or to review the posts she has done again.

E - SHe is more talkative but she has explained about how RL stuff affected that, which it has affected a lot of ppl and their posting. So I am undecided with her tho as I said with Hannah.. I am watching them because of their interaction. Is it a scum ploy? two townies clashing? or a scum targeting a townie?

Dylon - Dylon..is Dylon..a player I never know. He uses his quietness when scum but he also can be very analytic when townie. I don't know what to make of him yet.

D - D i have a slightly funny vibe but thats it and nothing at all to really point at. So can't really go either direction.

K4J - Kitty is off, it could just be burn out, a reaction to RL stuff just as much as it could be because he is scum. Question? Has kitty been scum before..I know Jeff posted ppl's Mafia rap sheets in SV4 but I don't remember them (nor do I feel like hunting)..if Kitty was scum can several ppl tell me what they thought of his playing style as scum.

Summer - Not sure on Summer one way or the other yet.

Pali - Not sure where he is coming from on me but over all I am not getting a particularly scummy vibe off him. Hope thats a really good sign.

Roles:
Every role we have assigned in this game is based off a character from the entire series of Quantum Leap. Everyone is assigned a character at random, but not all characters will have a Special Ability (vanilla townie or mafia goon). You must try and keep your role a secret. Role-claiming is NOT allowed. We will NOT tell you every single special ability that is found in the game, but here is what you can expect:
*1 Godfather
*2 roleblockers (one mafia, one townie)
*1 cop/detective
*1 doctor/protector
*1 vigilante
*And possibly others!

Yeah based on the limited amount of players we have some roles for instance the SK i really dont think we would have, we would all be killed off in a flash if there was! But how many mafia players would there anyways be in a game this side- i cant imagine any more then perhaps 4? But if less then perhaps a traitor role is floating around...

Mel & Jim said they asked James for help when setting up this game. A mod has a big influence on what scum powers are in the game. I've never played in one of James' games before. What scummy roles has he included in his games? 24 & I forgot the other one.

I think it's safe to say, if this is a standard game with a mafia group and 1 SK or Traitor (hopefully not both), that there will be a GF role, roleblocker role of some sort and some sort of investigative role (spy/power thief etc) on the scummy side.

The decision on what scummy roles to include will also, like Jenny mentioned before, be influence by the theme of the game, in this game Quantum Leap. Well I asked yesterday about Night 0, since almost everyone has answered I will give my opinion. I as a person think this is great, it's fair, I don't like Night 0, it bores me, maybe because I never really had a role that did much then, but really last game seeing Alex investigated twice, I didn't think it was fair that she could be caught Night 0 without doing anything, yeah it would have been great for the townies, but I think it would have been rather unfair and basically sucked, so seeing there was no Night 0, I was happy, even if I was someone who could find out if a person was mafia, part of me wouldn't want to,I know sounds strange but I just find that unfair, so I'm excited with the decision.

On the games perspective, I think yeah as a townie, it's unfortunate to come into the game with not much information to go off of, but 'it's not to bad, the mafia also get a disadvantage, if they're recruiting a traitor or have some ability to seek a TwSA. So overall, I'm glad there's no night 0.

I asked the question because I thought it would be interesting to see how people reacted, see if it's true to themselves and what I imagined from them.

What I find interesting about the responses would be, who tried to scare townies, who tried to avoid making a decision, who tried to say no Night 0 was a good thing (because people who said that, could be townies, as you'd think scum might not say that, but they knew I was looking into their answers and they could have tried to play mind games)

I find Alex's answer honest, and even thought it could be looked upon as scaring townies, I'd expect Micas answer as she was in a position where Night 0 was important, so I find her answer honest too. Ultimately Micas answer doesn't mean all that much.

Lou seemed to not want to appear like she was trying to scare townies in my eyes, she could mean it but I'm not sure, I found it weird she missed my question while catching up, I bolded it at all, yeah I can't tell someone you didn't really miss it, but she seemed to think those who answered quickly were scummy, perhaps she said that seeing as how she answered a little late.

Jeff seems to be honest in his answer, I expected him to be a little bit more bummed though, *but maybe it's good as he was bummed as a traitor last game* but he could have possibly toned down his upset so he didn't appear to be scaring townies, and making them more nervous or paranoid.

I find D's answer the strangest, and one of the least descriptive, which obviously isn't a good thing.

Hello Everyone! Just got home from work and skimmed really quickly through all the posts so I'm fully caught up. There are some I want to respond to but I wanted to join live convo for a bit since I'm usually not here this early.

p.s. I just realized we have 13 players in the game, not 14. For some reason, I had the number "14" stuck in my head from the sign up thread but then I guess Tracey pulled out of the game. :( We need to recruit some new players. :p

Not having a Night 0 really handicaps teh townies. The scums know their own bothers & sisters in the game, but the townies with SAs don't have the chance to find a scum or another townie on their side.

Yeah just i think someone asked it as a question to start things rolling erlier, and it was Lou i think who said she was intersted in how people were responding and how quickly to it or something... but yeah back to business, can anyone i wonder say like the top 3 people they are finding suspicious so far, perhaps?

I'm working my way there Hannah and I hope to be able to have a more firm idea in the next couple of days. So far there are still a lot of players that have not posted anything substantial due to outside world commitments like Summer, Jeff, D & Pali. That being said, I'm sure there's at least 2 or more scum who have been posting consistently, so that should not deter us. I'm also working on developing my own ideas and thoughts and not let myself get influenced or swayed by what others are saying. It's hard to do.

I have a question for you actually. I was getting a little worried when I saw people pointing fingers at you because I thought a) you make a perfect target for scum to pick on because you tend to post a bit of fluff and you don't do a lot of finger pointing (it's the reason why i kept going after you last game before I realized we were teammates) and b) because I thought you defended yourself really well yesterday when you came under attack and acted the way a townie would. However, today, I'm seeing a whole other side of you that I haven't seen before. The fluff was kept to a minimum, you made a list (:eek:) and you actually pointed some fingers. What brought about this change?

Was that really just a random pick or did you have a little something of a suspicion about him? Because I have a feeling you did. You're very analytical and I think you tend to watch from the outside in and you notice a lot of things others don't.

As for my thoughts on K4J, he's not a player that I can easily read. For all the head butting we do in these games, I always find myself trusting him because he is so active and pushes us to scum hunt all the time. I always tend to see him in a positive light. :o I played with him in the game where he was scum, Dark Knight but I had no clue he was scum in that game. If it wasn't for Matt (ONOX) catching him, I probably would have been none the wiser. Basically, I always want to trust him but I'm always afraid to because he's sort of my blindspot. FZ is like that for me as well.

This is just a starting thought list. I could and very well change my opinions as not only is it the 'first day' but not much meat around I can see. Hopefully this changes. Right now I suck because I don't have anyone i feel is def scum .. which has me really unhappy.


I'm not ready myself to make a top 3 suspicious list so I can't really talk, but I just have to comment that making a full list instead of listing top 3 players that are suspicious is a scum move I used last game during Day 1 to avoid listing 3 townie names that I would eventually have to change as the game developed (thus making me seem all over the place with my suspicion )and also in case I got caught and was lynched. I knew the townies would go back and look at my list and figure out that those must be sure townies as I wouldn't point fingers at my actual scum mates in Day 1.

I'm not saying that this is what you are doing but just something to keep in mind as day 1 progresses.

I just think it's their way of making the game different? So there is like a 100% chance that absolutely no one knows anything coming into the game. The townies don't have any results for their powers, and the mafia haven't been able to talk to each other and make plans (realistically they have.. but still).

I've explained myself saying that I really want the townies to win and I'm trying hard, and I just am not sure what else to say.............so your view is that I am holding back. I get your view on Kitty but I am not sure I feel its trying to hard to be his usual self. But its def something to keep an eye on. I hate the fact that when some one is 'off' it could mean scum just as much as having a hard time or something. Which means if we go for that person and we're wrong it totally extra sucks. If all we have is the 'off' ones tho unfortunately we can't ignore them. I am just hoping if Kitty is townie I'll feel more secure on it soon.

Well, first thing that sticks out to me right now is that Dylon seems a lot more antagonistic than I think I've ever seen him, which is odd. In every game he has been exactly the same, so why is it different now? Is it just a change up of the norm or he is tired of being suspected as scum no matter how he posts? Is he a townie who is trying a different tactic or he is scum thinking that people will be fooled and think it's more proactive than his normal style? Don't know yet, but I'm watching.

Right now my thoughts are not clear. Im never really sure about anything, especailly Dylon and Pali. they always seem to be a mystery to me. and you are also someone i watch with close intent, but i dont find you giving off any kind of scum vibe this game so i feel good about you but possibly dylon really and hannah if you want to add her.
Its obvious why hannah maybe a suspect but i could always be wrong. and Dylon seems to be posting a little weird. I would say k4j but i think im going to hold off on any more ideas till day 2. Because i feel with the amount of players and the not knowing of what the game is based on. and no night actions.
I think its pretty tough for most of us to you know whats the word? settle in. :lol: and i will give him some slack since he hasnt played mafia in a little while.

Well I got weird vibes off of Mica, I am uneasy about D but she hasn't posted, and if she were scum perhaps she'd post more. I had a weird thought about Jeff perhaps he doesn't have enough time, but just one post seemed weird, then looked back and I couldn't really find anything so I don't know that I can even say I suspect him, but it's weird seeing how little he's done even with less time.

Alex seems very very helpful, perhaps it's her normal self that's beginning to throw me off again but I've noticed and held it in that she's asking so many questions.... thats what she does as a townie and I told her that last game, but it seems a bit extra this time.

Dye is different and Pali is strange as usual. E and Hannah both strike me odd at times.

Ok, since there aren't many people yet, we still need to focus on progress, and do as much as we can, so for starts I have a questioned that I'd like everyone to answer. What is your reaction to No Night 0? Suffice to say, it really didn't bother me any. I was a little shocked, which is why I was surprised the game started as early as it did, but other than that, not a big deal on my part. I do think for TwSA's it would have been nice for them to have hopefully gotten a leg up, but hey, maybe it's better this way so they are not going in totally blind.

Honestly, I'd like to hold off answering until we get a little bit more answers from people..... if that is okay, I have my answer but I'd like to hold off. Now, see, this bothers me. Why ask a question and then not answer yourself?? It just rubs me the wrong way. That being said, my main suspicious of FZ last game was because this exact thing and she turned out to be the Dr. so I'm going to leave this alone and just wait patiently for your answer to your own question.


I disagree with the less chance of sneaky scum cuz no one knows anything but the scum know who thee partners are so today they will have no problems blending in cuz townies wont know anything unless the had something specific in their role PM

think its quite obvious why I do see this point. It doesn't seem fair that the scum, the moment they get their role PM, get to have a couple of days to strategize and the townies don't at least get the same opportunity to make a game-changing play. With a stroke of luck, say on Night 0 the Det got a scum or another investigative ability did. That's a point in our favor. So I can see where a no Night 0 would benefit the scum more than the townies.
