Hello Smallville and Superman Fans,
First let me say, like most of you I have been a Superman fan for most of my life. And I have been watching Smallville since the series premier. Tonight, I watched the SERIES finale. First off, I loved it. Yes, I have been reading a lot of hate comments about the suit and the CGI, but for me, that was fine. I loved the episode. We did not see much of "Superman", but over the 10 years I have fell in love with the story of Clark Kent, and tom Welling did one heck of a great job in that role.
But I must say (and if you felt the same way please share..it would help me) that I am pretty freaking depressed now. I have spent the past 10 years being super involved with these character, and now they are gone. Granted I can watch seasons over again (which I have several times each), but a part of me just feels empty now that I know I will not be seeing any new episodes. It feels as if these characters have just died. I know they are just fictional characters and they can be found in other stories, but what really hurts is that I will no longer see a Tom Welling - Clark Kent, Erica Durance - Lois Lane, Allison Mack - Chloe Sullivan, Justin Hartley - Oliver Queen, etc. I just truly feel depressed knowing that.
Never did I think I would be emotionally involved with fictional characters, but it happened. I must give credit to the writers and actors for there amazing job of capturing me in a way that I never thought possible. They literally captured my life for 10 years...and I must say it was great!
Did anyone else feel this way after the show ended? Or am I just some weirdo? I would guess that some people felt the same way.
I dont know, I think I just needed to say this to release some of this emptiness-feeling. All the characters and actors will be missed. Thank you Smallville for a wonderful 10 years! You were there for me when when I was faced with life struggles and needed comfort, and you were there for me when I just needed an awesome show to watch! Thank you for the laughs, tears, heart-warmth, and the inspiration. Thank you to all the cast and crew! You will be missed!

Yes, I know what you mean. I have felt a little empty. It's like loosing members of my family with the end of Smallville. I keep in touch by watching past episodes and in fact, I just watched the Finale again for a little comfort. Smallville was a great show and gave me something to look forward to. Now, I'm trying to adjust knowing there won't be any new episodes, but it isn't easy.

I'm really gonna miss the high anticipation and excitement that led up to each season premier. :(

No, you're not weird. I had the same feeling when I watched the last episode of "Star Trek-The Next Generation" and "Star Trek-Deep Space Nine".
I think the main reason I didn't feel the same way about Smallville's end is that unlike the two Treks, I rarely watched the show as it aired. I usually was working at 8PM on Friday night. (Right after Smallville ended, I got a new job with no night hours--agg!) I watched the first half of the series on DVD, and about the eigth season or so I taped it for later viewing.
What I would recommend is try and find something new and fun to do on Friday nights. Go out with friends. If you like online games, play Warcraft--no, better yet, play DC Universe Online! Hang out with Superman! Just find something new.
For me, the end of Smallville was like watching the last episode of Buffy (all of which I watched on DVD, long after that series ended). I didn't get the death of a friend feeling, but rather something like the way i felt on the last day of high school (at least, my memory of how I felt that day).
Maybe the best way to look at it is to remember Captain Kirk's words in the last Classic Trek movie, where they were ending their careers. Checkov asked, "What course, Captain?" and Kirk replied "First star to the right, and straight on till morning." Of course, that line's from Peter Pan, noting the course to a place where little boys never grow up. I took his line to mean "Yeah, it's the last mission, but we'll always be with you if you have the DVDS!"
Seriously, that line made the end of the Classic run easier for me to handle.

A little.

Thanks for the responses! I plan on finding something to take my mind off it. Maybe Superman comics or something. Hey, who knows, maybe even write my own version of what happens after the finale! Hahah. Thanks all. i feel much better :)

I agree with you. It does feel weird to know that there will no longer be any more new Smallville episodes but, at the same time, I'm just happy that the series had ended the way it did and number 10 is a good number to stop at if you ask me.
