COOL & HOURGLASS Official Re-Watch Thread - June 17th, 2011

Welcome back, my friends, to the third thrilling installment of the Smallville Re-Watchers Club weekly discussions of Smallville's earliest episodes! This time around, we will be watching the chilly episode of "Cool," which features a closer look at the character of Chloe (HOORAY!), a frosty Freak of the Week, Lex and the Kents trying to see eye to eye, and a limo! :lol: "Hourglass" is just a stinkin' awesome episode, period, with glimpses into the future, a cool murder mystery, and well... it's just stinkin' awesome. By the way, does anyone else have any other options that they think I should include in future polls for times to do the re-watch? I notice that 4 of the options are picked way more than others, and I wondered if folks would be more likely to watch on Saturday or Sunday if the times were different, if the weekend is more convenient for them than a weeknight. If I don't hear anything in response to this, I'll just assume that the options I have are good enough, and keep using those. :) I can't wait for Friday!!! :D

That being said, I am looking forward to this week's installment because I always liked Cool and Hourglass. I think I should be able to watch Friday night. It won't be Saturday because I'll be out celebrating my birthday (even though my b-day is actually on Friday :lol:) So I'll see you guys there :D

Isn't it funny how certain episodes grow on you over time? When I saw Cool for the first time when it initially aired on the WB, I wasn't a huge fan of it. However, after repeated viewings on the S1 DVD set, I have grown to really like it. Sean Kelvin cracks me up. "Dude your mom is hot" and "If you want, I could rub them for you (in mention to Chloe's hands)..nothing heats up the body like friction".Cheeziest pick up line ever...LOL Granted his ability is lame and the episode definitely won't qualify for any awards. Still though, an enjoyable ep all the same.

On the other hand, Hourglass is an episode I LOVED when I first saw it on the WB, and over time I have actually grown to dislike it just a bit. Of course the Lex vision is awesome, Cassandra is outstanding, and I love the shot where the knife shatters in slo-mo, and Clark hucks Harry onto the car. Still though the serial killer B plot is a bit slow and there are some cheezy lines like "Didn't anyone ever tell you to respect your elders". Overall I still enjoy the concept of the episode and there are some great scenes. But it hasn't aged as well as I'd hoped. Especially with how much I loved the episode when it initially aired.

I think a lot of people underestimate episodes like cool just because they are one shot stories, true it's not the best but there are so many great momments in it :)
