Oh tomorrow seems so far away! I've been looking forward to my weekly Doctor Who fix since Monday!

I'm not a fan of the first part of two parters. They move so slow, which I know is because its setting things up for the following week, but still. I won't go so far as to say they're boring, because Who is never boring. And I don't mind it when watching OldWho, but for NuWho I just wish they'd make "Part one"s a bit more... eventful.
Does that make sense? (If it doesn't, it's because the Ashes to Ashes finale reduced my brain to slush. What the hell happened?)

I should add, I'm sure this episode will have to explain The Silurians to viewers who've never seen them before, so that could excuse some talking-over-action.

I'm excited for this episode. "Doctor Who And The Silurians" was the second episode I ever saw (first being "Spearhead From Space"), and I feel like they never really returned. (The smiling Silurian from "Warriors Of The Deep" was lame, and the Sea Devils felt totally different)

Loved this episode. Kind of proved proved wrong everything I said about "Part One" episodes above. We jumped right into things, they set up next week's episode while still having some tense and exciting moments. Some really funny one-liners in there too.
Two things, though:
1) Rory and Amy seeing their future selves was a weird moment, and they just kind of accepted it as well. Apart from how strange it must be to see your future self, surely they must have realised that if their future selves had decided to come back and have another look, something significant was about to happen? I'm assuming this will somehow factor into next week's episode.
2) Was this episode proof that multiple companions don't work? Was Amy taken early on because things were becomming crowded? I don't know. I think the team of 4th Doc, Sarah Jane and Harry has been the only one that consistently worked, every other time it was hit and miss. On another note, I hope this proves to some people that a Doctor/Male companion combo can work today.
Anyway, very enjoyable episode, and next week looks like all-out war. Episode 9, really? Wow, that's flown by. It'll be The Big Bang before we know it.

I agree, this episode really shows that a Dr/Male companion combo can work. In some ways, I think it can work better than a Dr/Female companion pair up. I mean, sure, I understand the Dr wanting maybe some female company once in awhile, but let the guy just have a friend he can get along with. A guy friend to kind of open up to, and that can share his enthusiasm for technology, and adventure.
I'm okay with a female companion doing this, but it's almost starting to look like the Dr, for some reason, just hates men.
I also liked this episode. While it was frustrating to me because it is part 1 of a 2 part episode, it was good, because it hooked me from the get go.
And this episode had some awesome quotes.
For me, chief among them, "Don't diss the Sonic!"

It is funny. Even in the most intense, intensely serious part. Like I thought it funny when the Doctor was asked " Are they aliens?" His reply was " No, they are Earth-iens. " Very funny! :rotfl:
I got worried when Amy got sucked under the earth by these creatures. And very sad that the Doctor felt un-able to save Amy- at least in time. But then it was a relief that she is not dead, just somewhere under the ground. I hope he is able to find her and get her out.
Am I to understand that this is a two-parter? Wow! The first of its kind since I began to watch. I can hardly wait for next week.

Well I saw both episodes last night on DVD and, it's already blurring in my mind, where part one ended and the conclusion began lol so, I'll go post my thought in Cold Blood because, I dont want to spoil it for anyone that didnt see Part 2 yet. But, I have to say, it was *so* cool seeing the Silurians. I love it when old monsters return.
