View Full Version : Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Well mine's kind of a cheating because the character spans both shows:
Wesley Wyndham-Price
He cracked me up with his foppish Clark Kent-esque debut on Buffy. And his romance with Cordelia was great comedy.
His evolution was truly brutally brilliant and made him one of the most fascinating characters IMO in TV history. On Angel he started out a little more grounded than before having been fired from being a Watcher. But he was still entertaining.
But what really made me a true fan was Season 3 of Angel and Alexis Denisof's amazing transformation into the world weary, suicidal, upredicatable Wesley that owned the screen in every episode leading up to his tragic end in the Angel finale.
Denisof could pull off physical comedy, James Bond and the anti-hero all with ease.
His recovery from his throat slashing and betrayal of Angel is gripping TV.
When he finally got Fred just to lose her.... heart-breaking and fantastic.
I only wish he hadn't died in the finale so he could live on in other incarnations or at least was given a little better death.
OH! And how can you not love it when he whips out the duel pistols or the concealed arm knives. Just awesome.

thanks, Spoon. And yours not cheating some people chose Spike for both shows lol. There is no right or wrong answer. I'll post the results on Monday because I was blocked out of the forum for while. Its been going wonky all week for me hence no buffy updates yet.
k, the board is alright so here are at least two updates from slayerverse:
David's Crow won't make it
You heard right, David's new movie The Crow: Wicked Prayer won't make it to the big screen
After exchanging soft blows with an actress in the film (story) and warding off rumors from other websites regarding the release of Dimension Films' The Crow: Wicked Prayer, it looks like we were right on the money. In a special DVD holiday issue of Variety, Dimension announced the next 'Crow' film as one of their direct-to-video DVDs for 2005, alongside Hellrasier: Hellworld/Deader and The Prophecy sequels. I guess the reports are true- the film is terrible, but you'll be able to judge for yourself sometime in 2005. Lance Munjia's film stars Edward Furlong, Tara Reid, David Borianaz, Dennis Hopper, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Marcus Chong, Tito Ortiz, Rena Owen, Danny Trejo and Macy Gray.
*****************end article*****************
number two update:
Buffy's worst nightmare has hit Gilmore Girls
Someday the rumours about the two of them was going to hit Gilmore Girls, and now it has. Who are we talking about? :)
Spike and Drusilla of course!
They are known to the smart girl Rory and she's thinking one of her friends is going out looking for the two
Paris: How do I look?
Rory: Where are you going?
Paris: I'm putting myself out there, Rory.
Rory: Now?
Paris: Yes, now.
Rory: It's eleven o'clock at night. Who are you hoping to hook up with now? Spike and Drusilla?
**********end article******
I thought the second one was cute plus that was written by former Buffy writer Rebecca Rand Krishner(sp?)

Guess what i really hate wesley sorry to say but i do. He made my favorite chracter crazy by giving him up to holtz who took connor to a hell dimension.
Summers
12-02-2004, 09:48 PM
True, but from Wesley point of view he was saving Conner's life. He didnt know it was a false prophecy made by Sajhun(sp?). Sajhun wanted Conner out of the way, so the actual prophecy wouldnt be fullfilled which was Conner killing Sajhun. That was the true prophecy rather than "The father will kill the son". Wes didnt know, however; I wished he speaked up about the prophecy but if Wes did that we wouldve have gotten an awesome story or character arc out of it.
Nex, did you post who your fav character from Buffy and Angel for the poll yet? I dont remember?

My favorite character....That's a tough one, for both shows. I didn't really want to vote on this. Each character brought something to the show that was very special. And I don't really have any favorite characters, but since I have to choose, I'll pick by how well I think the actors portrayed them.
Angel - Wesley (Seasons 1-4, haven't seen all of 5th season)
Wesley's character had so many dimensions. Alexis Denisof really grew into this role, and made him more than just another funny character.
Buffy - Willow
At first, Willow wasn't one of my favorites. Xander held that special place in my heart with his humor. But, as each season progressed, Alyson Hannigan really showed she could pull off any part that was needed for Willow. I especially loved her in "The Body." Even behind Sarah Michelle Gellar's great performance. Alyson, from the 4th season on has shown that she has some real talent.

we just need a poll where everybody needed to pick just one. It is indeed hard because all the characters are great w/ the talent by the actors(Joss was actually quite lucky there), and its hard to choose. Usually I do ties, but sometimes you have to choose one even if its hard :(.

I tried making them short, so who ever does the polls you can add, or remove any changes. By the way I really advocate that both Buffy and Angel be removed from the list, because personally it's not just fair

I'm going to have to disagree with you there. True, they are the main characters, however; unlike SV Buffy and Angel are part of an ensemble cast. You cant have Buffy without Willow and Xander, or Angel without his Fang Gang. The supporting characters hold a big screentime just as equal to Buffy and Angel. Now if it were reverse, then yea, I would agree with you, but both shows had huge casts and gave each character a lot of screen time. Buffy and Angel stay in or it wouldnt be fair since both shows are an ensemble cast. There is a balance between the main and supporting. Cause if we wanted to narrow down more we would take out both Wes and Spike since they went to both shows. Now that wouldnt be fair because both characters progressed leaving Buffy to Angel. All the characters say in whether were on both shows or the main character.
maybe we can do another poll that didnt have Buffy and Angel in it, but for this poll let's make it involve everyone.
I would add the Lindsey and Lilah to the Angel Characters though.
k, V-Man here's my top ten but in chronological order :).
-Nightmares: At time was the most scary, haunting of the episodes in season one. We not only saw one fear from each character, but many including the Ugly Man. It was so balance, and dark. Of all the fears Buffy being told she was reason for the divorce was hurtful to watch. plus:
-Vamp Buffy
-illierate Giles
-nude Xander, and afraid of Clowns
-Willow's stage fright
-Cordy's bad hair day, and turning into a nerd.
-Prophecy Girl: The first time I watched it I thought I was watching a movie. Joss closed all the storylines from that season:
-Xander telling his feelings for Buffy, and she sadly telling him she feels none
-Buffy's prophecy and death
-Willow rejecting Xander too
-Giles firming his father figure status
-the prom
-Cordy changing and caring
-it had everything
-Innocence: Beautifully done. There was no in your face sex act, but it was all done with a small light and beautifully done. both Sarah and David had to progress there characters to Angelus and Buffy as mortal enemies. and ROCKET LAUNCHER!!!. Willow finding out about Xan and Cordy. Jenny is revealed, and Oz makes his way into the group.
-Becoming Pt.1 and 2: I just cant separate they go hand and hand. Again felt like a movie from seeing Liam turn to Angelus to Angel. Seeing Dru before she is turn. all out sword fight :). Buffy being put in a position:
-first wanted for murder
-kick out of her home
-expelled
-killed her lover
-and lost herself.
-Earshot: One of the best episode made about school isolation. Its starts all funny, but turns very dark. we hear the insecurities that many of us heard, or still have. And find out its the Cafeteria lady.
-Hush: wicked scary, and still have nightmare about the Gentlemen. Intro of Tara :). I never seen an all quite episode until now, and they pulled it off.
-Restless: Every act is one character. It was a blast to watch, and great foreshadowings "come back before Dawn"
-The Gift: such the tearjeaker. Great action to the drama one of the 100th episodes I seen. I never thought she would die.
-Once More With Feeling: Talk about a risk, but they pull it off nicely again.
-Chosen: One of my favorite series finales. It emphasized what the show is all about. The one seen where the girls get their powers is the primary theme of the show(but the show has many themes)
honorable mentions:
Angel
Bewitch, Bothered, and Bewildered
Passion
Killed By Death
Band Candy
Dopplegangland
Graduation Day 1 and 2
The Prom
The Wish
Harsh Day of Light
Pangs
This Year's Girl/Who Are You
Superstar
Real Me
Checkpoint
The Body(I replace OMWF with it)
The Replacement
Fool For Love
Bargaining Pt. 1 and 2
After Life
Life Serial
Tabula Rasa
Seeing Red
Normal Again
Lessons
Bring On The Night
Help
Conversations with Dead People
Get It Done
Dirty Girls
Lies My Parents Told Me
as you can tell it was hard for me to choose ten lol.

None of the seasons disappointed?
Did both of you not see Season 7?

Actually season 7 is one of most loved seasons. Season four was weak, however; I wasnt disappointed in the writing, directing, or acting in any season of the series.
Oh so you liked the fact that Robin Wood served no purpose? that the Supervamps who were so difficult for Buffy to kill were being dispatched by Dawn in the final episode? That Faith and Angel did nothing but stand there and look awkward during their episodes? That Not a Single Person Hugged Giles? Or Kennedye tap-dancing on Tara's grave? (if you're as big of a Buffy fan as I thin you are, you can't ignore all the terrible things Kennedy was called, and though I disagree with their venom, I do agree that she had no place with willow)
Oh sure, the season started out fine. The Jacket was a hoot (I love him the most, I'm willing to overlook his penis!), Conversations with dead people was a great episode and the first half of the season was pretty good.
But I don't think Whedon really knew how he planned to end the show, or even what the first evil's big plan was. Those last couple of episodes were just painful to watch. And can anyone say Deus ex after Deus ex after Deus ex? Face it, the last half of Season 7 sucked, and even more so because it was a buffy show.
I mean a weak season in the Whedonverse is better than anything on tv. I was never disappointed in Buffy or Angel, however; I have been disappointed with Smallville though.
I think that's the problem. Season 1,2,3, and 6 where Whedon Seasons. The unexpected happen, everything was a metaphor for life, and the endings felt earned.
4,5, and 7 were Hollywood seasons. The good guys won because they were supposed to and because of their endless supplies of Deus Ex machines.
Which doesn't mean the shows were bad, I think Season 4 has the highest amount of Great Episodes, Season 5 though formulaic was fun to watch, and season 7... Well the last half of season 7 was crap, I don't think there's anything we can say to redeem it.
But when Whedon is on the ball, the season arcs are great. When he's not... well it becomes just another vampire show.

At time I posted that the board was going wonky, and I couldnt really go in detail lol. Overall I loved Season Seven, and I loved the theme of going back to the beginning and the primary theme of the show. Like in any tv series's season I can say I hate things. I hated Kennedy, in fact, she is the character besides Warren I hated. I didnt like the Kennedy/Willow relationship at all. All Kennedy did was put her nose where it didnt belong, and talk smack....do bad she lived. The Ubervamps now that's just plain funny, but it didnt unnerve me because it is a tv show lol.
Giles on the other had not hugging was suppose to confuse us that he is the First. I remember my sister and I watching Bring On The Night when it aired, and we appalled he wouldnt hug Buffy. After we find out he's not the First he was still not hugging or a father figure to Buffy(that's debateable). Now I can watch the last season all the way through I view Giles as being The Watcher Council. Once they were blown up(really cool) Giles became them while Buffy stood for the different type of watcher/slayer relationship. I felt he shouldve talked to Buffy about Wood, but Giles never trusted Spike anyways.
Have to disagree with the Faith because she was different. She was the mature Faith that was Buffy's equal in way. Meaning she understood Buffy more. To me Faith's return gave closure to the very sisterly relationship the slayers had. On Angel it left a window open. It allowed none of the shippers to mad, but mad at other things lol. It was nice to see Buffy and Angel together again even if he was there for a little bit. and it led to a great crossover for Spike to appear on Angel's last season. If Spike wasnt there I dont know how season five would turn out. The way Angel walked out of the cemmentary reminded me of when we walked out of the alley in Welcome to the Hellmouth.
I think Wood served some purpose. He was the anti-Synder...I mean he was great as the principal, and had great chemistry w/ Eliza and Sarah. His character allowed a full circle for Spike's character, and we were able to see his mother. We always knew Spike had a kinder heart for his mother. And now we saw it and knew why. I liked that plot twist.
There is always bad points to any season of any tv series. I mean I love Smallville's season three but I didnt like how they neglected Pete's arc, and too much screen time to Clana. But overall it was a great season. There is not a whole lot of vamps shows besides Dark Shadows, Buffy, and Angel....unless I'm missing some lol. Everybody sees each season differently from the metaphors or the stories. That's just how I saw it.

Interesting season 4 and 6 had the least involvement by Whedon, but he still okay scripts(putting his own touches on some) but still gave the duty to Marti Noxon. I loved season 7 it was a fun ride to watch, and one of reason there are many newbies to the Whedonverse. Season four to me was just leading to the last three seasons. Season five had the most continuity because Whedon and his writers had to stay right on the ball for those storylines. I loved all of them. I view BtVS as an entire story arc of Buffy Summers and her Scoobies.
EDIT: here's some more info on the commentary for The Grudge:
http://www.aqua68.com/grudge_forum/index.php?
In response to a question over at The Grudge board, Stephen Susco has listed the people who did the commentary... and it was pretty much everyone...
Apparently it was "actually quite a big group, all doing commentary at the same time: producers Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert, actors SMG, Jason Behr, Clea D., Kadee Strickland, Ted Raimi -- and [Stephen S.]."
Its cool that everybody had enough time to do the commentary...its fun when its group for movies. Reminds of The Goonies commentary :).

IMO "Destiny" should be somewhere too....its was an all out brawl between Spike and Angel which the fans(including me) was dying to see. Heck, my family and I made our bets on you would win. The TV Guide list was far more accurate IMO. And what about "Hero" when Doyle dies, and they just forgot about that one too ...I cried my eyes out in IWRY and Hero...needless to say I dont agree with this list because too many excellent episodes were overlooked.

Remember it was the first time Buffy came to Angel in L.A. Angel became human for one day, and him and Buffy had the perfect day. But it wasnt meant to be he had to scarfice to be turn into a vampire, so Buffy and the rest of the world would be safe. It was in season one. To make his scarfice happen they would have to take back that one perfect day, and the downside is Buffy would never remember it but Angel would have to live with forever. At the very end:
Buffy: "How am I supposed to go on with my life knowing what we had? What we could have had?"
Angel: "You won't. No one will know but me."
Buffy: "Everything we did."
Angel: "It never happened."
Buffy shakes her head: "It did. It did. I know it did! (Puts her hand on his heart) I felt your heart beat."
Angel: "Buffy.."
They kiss. Buffy looks over at the clock. The minute is almost up.
Buffy: "No! Oh God. It's not enough time."
Angel is crying too now: "Shh, please. Please."
The hold each other tightly both crying.
Angel: "Please, please."
Buffy: "No. I'll never forget. I'll never forget. I'll never forget. I'll never forget."
It was such a tearjerker to watch that scene. It was a crossover night with Buffy's "Pangs" and Angel "I Will Remember You" on one night.
Good call, Kal "Acoplayse, Nowish" didnt make the list either  . Probably one of the coolest action sequences on the Angel with the rooftop, and the Beast, rats, and dead birds. That was an awesome, exicting episode to watch.

Sactuary? I wouldnt put in the top 25 because they already have 5 by 5 in there. I remember that one, but if a newbie came to Angel they would have to see Buffy's parts of Season 3, "This Year's Girl", "Who Are You?", and "The Yoko Factor" too to get the whole entire perspective because there is so much history between Buffy, Faith, and Angel. There were many Angel fans who never saw those episodes, so they didnt know why Buffy was behaving in that matter. So many Buffy fans had to show why she was acting like that, and then you had to put in that Angel knew about Riley and Buffy moving on from Faith's info. Some people were in denial of it, and didnt want to acknowledge that she did in fact say sorry to Angel in "The Yoko Factor". In fact Angel and her both said sorry to each other. To me she every right to have revenge on Faith after what she did to her in season three and four, but then she wasnt seeing the change in Faith like Angel did. Faith really got her under her skin(she is the exact opposite of Buffy and one of the characters that truly understand her). But that is just my opinion on the subject, and to me one of the coolest story arcs every that spanned both series.
To me the Faith episodes 5 by 5 and Orpheus are presented, so I'm happy with that because they showed the transtition of Faith's character. I thought "Home" should be in it too. It was way better than Harm's Way. I dont way they put "Harm's Way" in there.

definitely agree. I was debating which one should I put Season Two or Five for Angel. But season five was an awesome ride to watch, and I cant wait until Feburary for the dvd. I would rank the Angel seasons:
(1)S2
(2)S5
(3)S3
(4)S1
(5)S4

well, technically Dawn is her child since she was made out of her blood. they go back and forth of sisters, and mother and daugther relationships. The only three differences is that:
-Dawn's a girl
-and doesnt have superhuman strength
-she is more of a book person
I saw this fanart of Conner and Dawn together...too cute:

ever read something that leaves you w/ a "duh" look on your face. I came across some interesting continuity on another site today, that made me go "oh, yea that's right. why didnt I see it sooner".
Remember in the Buffy episode "Restless" w/ Buffy dream where she puts the mud on her face from a brown bag:
http://www.buffyworld.com/buffy/season4/vidcaps/78b_55.jpg
that's the same bag Principal Wood's had that he kept from his mother. that showed how slayers came to be:
http://www.cappiness.net/btvs/season7/getitdone/pages/getitdone026.htm
I thought that was an awesome continuity that I never noticed until now, and it makes perfect sense for it to be the same bag. There are little surprises and references everywhere in the Buffyverse.

here's an outtake from Prophecy Girl w/ Aly messing up lol:
http://www.slayerverse.net/tanet/net_buffy_us/index.php?navi=news.php&id=16000
Last week the magazine Xpose did their Angel 25 episode list w/ noticeable episodes left out. A while back the same magazine did their own Buffy 25 episode list:
http://www.slayerverse.net/tanet/net_buffy_us/index.php?navi=news.php&id=15940
http://www.slayerverse.net/tanet/net_buffy_us/index.php?navi=news.php&id=15984
My favorites are in on their list, but I wouldnt put Prophecy Girl that high. I would put it if it was my own top 10 list(I usually pick two greats per season when I do my list to be fair). It just seems to high, but should be in there. I love it :). IMO "Lie To Me" and "A New Man" shouldnt be in there. I would rather put Superstar and This Year's Girl/Who Are You in there instead, but that's just me.
what are your opinions of Xpose top 25 Buffy episodes?

As you can tell i'm a Xander fan. :)

Yes! I wanted to say Potential . I've heard that speach 3 times this week and its so good. I like how it foreshadows the incident to come with Xander and his "Seeing". Showing Xander is the backbone of the gang and is the humanity inside of Buffy. He keeps her grounded. I love it.

The news about Joss writing and directing Wonder Woman is great, though I hope he chooses the right actress. I don't see Sarah pulling it off for the fact that she's so tiny and doesn't resemble what Wonder Woman is suppose to be. Charisma is not a bad choice though not my top one. I think the best actress that can make a great Wonder Woman is Catherine Zeta-Jones. I'll definitely keep an eye out for more news.

So true. I like how they gave each Scooby gang member a quality that represents the group. I mean there is a reason Xander is the Heart of the group :). I'm glad Xpose had the excellent episodes because on Angel they neglected many. However, I wished they put in "Grave". It was so endearing to see Xander save the day w/ his yellow crayon speech. And we see Willow's revert back to red. "I love crayon breaking Willow, and dark veiny Willow"....so, so sweet. Instead they put in Lover's Walk. I do love "Lover's Walk", but its just not has up there as Grave is.

I dont know why, but I see Sarah more of a Supergirl type or Shadowcat lol....but she is a great actress. Jones is an excellent choice. IMO the actress should be last, and the script should be concentrated first. I mean this is the first ever Wonder Woman on the big screen, so its never been done. I just want it done right.

Ok cool.
Hey guys i was watching roswell today and they were copying off of angel. Let me tell you how, well see max the leader had a kid with this other alien. Such as angel having a kid with another vampire. So then the mother was evil and in angel darla was evil. Then max gave away the baby because he wanted it to give the baby a better life because the baby was human. Such as angel haveing to give connor up to holtz and connor being a human with powers. So do you see the similarities.
Summers
12-22-2004, 04:15 PM
yea, I do but I dont think they were on purpose because Roswell's last season aired the same time as Angel's season four. I think it was mere concidence because both shows were airing each other's son arcs at the same time.

lol. I dont anymore. When Buffy moved to UPN Roswell went with it, and followed it on the same night. Which happened to be Roswell's last season. I use to watch Dawson's Creek, Buffy, Angel, and Roswell. And not so much. I still catch reruns of them, but on primetime I catch some Lost now and then. I loved Dead Like Me, and now they cancel that too. So not so much anymore. But I still watch my cartoons :).

Ok, i have a confession to make. back in 7th grade i got obsesed w/ this show. i watched it daily over and over and was in love w/ david boreanaz. then in 8th grade i still loved it and then started like james marsters. ...then in 9th grade i was still loving it up untill about half way through 9th grade. then i stopped watching it ..a few month ago i turned it on just for the hell of it ..and i couldnt stand it anymore. i cant watch it anymore, iv seen every eppy ..and now i hate it. Uhggg. it got me so mad bc i blew soo much money on Buffy stuff and now i hate it.
just warning you guys ...dont go overboard w/ the show ...bc eventually you might hate the show as well.

I dont see anything wrong with that, however; that depends on the person. I mean Buffy is getting more fans than ever w/ the dvds out these days, and many people wished they watch the show when it aired. I use to love 90210, but now I just hate it. I actually hate many Aaron Spelling shows now.
But I dont see myself ever hating this show, Angel, Avonela, or Smallville. Buffy was the first show I could actually relate to, and didnt treat the audience as morons. It was the first show that I can see beyond an attractive cast. It wasnt because the cast was cute or hot. It was about the stories I can relate to in their metaphorical manner. My sister and I use to just drive each other nuts(heck, sometimes we still do lol), but we just bonded over the season five. We bonded so much w/ the Buffy and Dawn arc that I occasionally call her "Dawnie" now. However, hating a show after you watch it is quite normal, but I dont see myself personally hating this show, Angel, Avonela, or Smallville ever.

ET.UK had a top 50 list of their "feelgood films" and Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Once More, With Feeling ranked #7!:
10 TOY STORY (1995) Pixar’s computerised animations came of age with this blockbuster, but the technological wizardry would have fallen flat without a great script, Randy Newman’s bittersweet songs, or the unforgettable voice-performance of Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear.
9 A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH (1946) In the same year that It’s a Wonderful Life boosted postwar moods, Powell and Pressburger offered their own whimsical take on the heaven/earth debate. An RAF pilot (David Niven) cheats certain death, falls for an American and argues for his life before a celestial court in a cosmic romance commissioned by the Ministry of Information to bolster Anglo-American relations.
8 GREASE (1978)
The ultimate in musical wish fulfilment, Randal Kleiser’s extravaganza cartwheeled the seedy 1970s into the feel-good 1950s. Even the cast were transported back in time — 29-year-old Olivia Newton-John worried she was too old to play a high-school student, but Stockard Channing was 34. John Travolta (above, with Newton-John), meanwhile, secured his leading role only after Henry “Fonz” Winkler turned it down. The Fonz, apparently, didn ’t want to be typecast.
7 BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER: ONCE MORE WITH FEELING (Season 6 DVD, 2002) How many TV shows feature demons turning your favourite characters into all-singing, all dancing puppets? The lyrics, in which Buffy and pals reveal the skeletons in their closets, display a dark subtext, but you’ve gotta love the chirpy tunes.
6 AMÉLIE (2001) Who said that Gallic cinema was all about Gitanes-wreathed pontification? French intellectuals carped at the quirkiness of Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s Montmartre, but Audrey Tautou’s eccentric, philanthropic mademoiselle could warm the frostiest of cockles.
5 THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW (1975) Nearly 30 years on, Richard O’Brien’s musical paean to polymorphous perversity and B-movie pastiche still inspires wild audience participation (www.singalonga.com): rice thrown in the wedding scene, toast when Frank N. Furter proposes a toast. Where are they now? Frank, Brad and Janet all became stars (Tim Curry best in Muppet Treasure Island and Home Alone 2; Barry Bostwick in Spin City; and Susan Sarandon a truly A-list Oscar-winner); Nell set up her own New York nightclub; Riff-Raff presented Crystal Maze. And the muscular monster Rocky? He’s now an antiques dealer in England. Singing: “Don’t dream it . . . be it.”
4 CINEMA PARADISO (1990) Cheering, laughing, crying, jeering: the Sicilian cinemagoers in Giuseppe Tornatore’s fable are our sweetest demonstration of the power of the silver screen. What would they have been like if the town priest had not forced Alfredo the projectionist to remove the love scenes? Add Marco Leonardi’s cute juvenile cinephile and you have a throat-tightening arthouse landmark.
3 STRICTLY BALLROOM (1992) This fantastically camp updating of the Ugly Duckling tale, about a renegade ballroom dancer, is the first in Baz Luhrmann’s Red Curtain trilogy. It lacks the sweep of its later sisters (Romeo and Juliet and Moulin Rouge!), but then, the budget was more Oz than Hollywood. Worth watching for the sculpted hairstyles alone.
2 THE OFFICE XMAS SPECIAL (2003)* It’s all about the contrast. The last episode was shaping up to be another exercise in excruciating naturalism. Until Dawn opens Tim’s secret gift and its message to “never give up” her creative aspirations, and returns to deliver the snog that he (and we) had doubted would ever happen. It still sends shivers down the spine.
1 IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE (1946) For a much-loved family classic, It’s a Wonderful Life is the most brutal of Cinderella stories. Divine intervention saves James Stewart from suicide, but only to persuade him to resume his life as before, trapped in small-town America.
Merry Christmas everyone! :)

Popping in lol. Cool OMWF is in their rank :) thanks Spiked.
On slayerverse they have some Buffy trivia on the episode Spiral:
Fights in the episode Spiral
The opening scene of the episode Spiral shows Buffy and Dawn getting away from Glory quite easily. Buffy writer Steven DeKnight told about the beginning of that episode...
“As a matter of fact, in the first draft of the outline for that script, the opening action scene where Buffy is trying to escape from Glory with Dawn, was massive. It was a ten minute long escape scene. Buffy gets smacked into a tree a hundred feet away, she ends up beating Glory with a sheared off lamp pole, there was big, big action. Joss read it and said “This is great, this is wonderful, Kubrick couldn’t film this in 20 days with five million dollars, so cut everything". I’m like “Great, okay, that’s fine, as long as I get the Knights chasing the Winnebago"".
here's some excellent fanart w/ episode The Gift, Lover's Walk, and Seeing Red(w/ Xander and Buffy hugging)...they were so good I'm saving in my yahoo gallary:

while back I posted back an outtake from "I Only Have Eyes For You", and here's in another one from the same episode by David:
http://www.slayerverse.net/tanet/net_buffy_us/index.php?navi=news.php&id=15994
These outtakes form IOHEFY are not on the Buffy dvds.
Edit: info on Tru Calling and Wonder Woman form Eonline:
The latest news about Tru Calling and the Wonder Woman movie
Kristin, will Tru Calling return?
Actually, I asked Gail Berman about that at the 24 DVD release party. She said that for the time being, they are putting Point Pleasant--new show from Buffy executive producer Marti Noxon--on Thursday nights after The O.C. but that "we expect to air Tru Calling at some point in this season." Personally, though, and sadly, I think you should not hold your breath.
Have you heard that Joss Whedon has being approached about making a Wonder Woman movie? And apparently both Sarah Michelle Gellar and Charisma Carpenter are up for the role.
Yes, and honestly, I can think of nothing better on this little planet they call Earth. I'm obsessed with Joss, Wonder Woman and, of course, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Charisma Carpenter. Put them all together and it might be too much goodness to handle, no? Anyhoodle, word is Joss is in final talks with Warner Bros. to write and direct the movie, and I for one am holding my breath and wearing my Wonder Woman Underoos for luck.

I just don't find it appealing I've seen alot of the shows but never could get myself to sit through a whole ep. Like the graduation ep where the whole world is about to end then a whole bunch of the graduating class is fighting demons, come on dude we all know if that were to happen everyone would bounce out of there with a quickness. Although I think Willow is hot and isn't she a lesbian if so that is the best thing about the show.
I could be wrong but from what I gathered about Angel isn't he like a vampire for hire for good. Favorite character - Spike and Anya
Favorite romance - Spike / Buffy
Favorite Villan - Faith and Angelus it's a tie
What are your favorite seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer?
Season 1 : good- introduction was good, plot was good
Season 2 very good-buffy and angel relationship was great, the whole angel becoming evil was even greater. buffy having to kill angel was just the best.
Season 3 great- I loved the whole Faith vs. Buffy thing
didn't like season 4. I hated the whole Riley/military/adam/spike with a chip in the head/ willow going gay/and pretty much everything in this season.
Season 5 very good- Glory was a great villianess, I loved the whole Dawn is the key/gotta protect her from Glory thing.
Season 6 so so - it was kind of a waste of time, the villians were good,. the only thing i liked about it was the Spike/Buffy thing
Season 7 good- I liked how they finised it off by battling the Big Bad.
I have to say that the Season 2 season finale was the best though. The whole saving angel but then having to send him to hell. Good stuff.
Buffy or Angel?? Buffy hands down. Angel couldn't become what Buffy was not even close

Popping in again. I just had to respond by saying both Buffy and Angel are metaphorical based. And there are people who dont like shows like that which is fine. The Graduation was about going to the next chapter in a person life, and the entire Sunnydale body was about that. The Mayor speech is one of the themes of the show. And I wouldnt recommend the episode to a newbie viewer of the show because there is so much continuity and foreshadowing a newbie could be confused. but it was about moving on to greater things. Buffy is by far the most relatable show in tv, and didnt treat the audience as morons. It didnt neglect the supporting characters like Smallville does, and the progressing stories allowed the cast to improve their acting skills which they use later in their acting careers. How can you say a show is lame, and not even understand what it means? Its like saying Smallville is lame because they have Lex and Clark meeting together. Some people dont give a show a chance. However, Buffy and Angel is actually analysized by college professour, religious theologists, media analysists, and anybody else. Its so widespread that its has its one termnology, such as "Buffyologist" and the Buffyverse. Its probably your not cup of tea which is fine, but Buffy/Angel is more looking under the surface. The demons and vamps are just window dressing while the metaphors and story arcs are the substance of the show. It was the first show that I saw that I to look beyond an attractive cast. An attractive cast doesnt mean everything....it helps, but the writing, acting, directing are the most important IMO. But there really is no credibility when a person says "i havent watched a show all the way through" or "I really dont know what this show is about". Those arent legit reasons of credibility. If you dont like it fine, but a heck of a lot of people do.

really? I thought they were kinda balanced in both their action and romance. I was listening to the "Lessons" commentary and Joss was saying the action is always the first thing to go which is true when you think about it. Which is the balancing act of it all. Angel had more slow-motion and bullet time to their action compared to Buffy. She was more gymnastic and street fighting. There is difference because there needed to be a difference between the two shows.

I was very impressed by Sarah and Emma considering the fact they never sang before lol. I get so into the soundtrack I start lip-singing to it lol. But the instrumentals are just excellent. You can tell right away which episode they are from. I love the themes of the Buffy/Riley relationship in the Hush Suite...you can hear the Spike/Buffy theme in the third soundtrack. At times I have to skip The Gift suite because I tear up.

*raises hand*. I got the day it came out. LOVE IT!!! I have to listen to it at least once a month. I couldnt believe how well the cast did.
I agree w/ Spiked love the avi Kal....its too cute.
My favorite songs are "Under your spell" and "Walk through the fire". My husband won't listen to it though. He hates the ep Hush and anything that has to do with it.

I love "Under Your Spell". That was an excellent song for Tara to sing, and sang beautifully by Amber. The moment "Walk Through The Fire" was done I knew it was a homage to the "Tonight" song from West Side Story. Moulin Rouge did a similar take on it. I love the "Theory" song, and Giles's song to Buffy. Giles's song is so relateable because of the parent-child relationship. Heck, I love all of it lol.
Why does your husband hate Hush? was it too scary?
btw, great avi Darth w/ Clark and Buffy. It was great blend of both of them.

It was The Gentlemen's smiles for me. I thought clowns were bad, but no they take the cake. And their politeness(sp?) was just plain creepy. Especially when they are clapping or smiling when they open the poor co-ed chest to get the heart. Demons arent suppose to be nice lol.
VersesBatman
01-02-2005, 09:50 PM
That's what made them so scary. I thought the one demon that killed children in the episode where Buffy got this fever were scary, boy was I wrong!

agreed. Der Kinderstad in "Killed By Death" was creepy w/ the way he moved his hands, and white-out eyes. But then I'm afraid of hospitals too!! But its creepy having that demon going after little kids :(. I loved Ryan's artwork of Buffy killing the demon lol.
Another demon was creepy was the Queller demon in "Listening To Fear". That demon crawling around like that....he was speed racer of crawling. Sure some people say there were demons that look fake on Buffy and Angel, but hey there are plenty that can scare the heck out of a person.
Since I been out for a week here some Buffy news for you guys and gals. Joss finally gave Faith a last name for the upcoming Watcher Sourcebook. Her full name is:

Oh, dont know Angel had plenty of romance. The ones I love:
-Angel/Darla....to me Darla was the only vamp/person I liked w/ Angel besides Buffy. Julie Benz was terrific, and had great chemistry w/ David. Darla's arc was amazing to watch.
-Fred/Wes.....too cute
-Cordy/Doyle....to this day I still believe they should belong together.
-Wes/Lilah....very destructive relationship(similar to Spuffy in season six), but you can see Lilah changing her attitude and become more humane....well she was starting to until evil Cordy/Jasmine killed her  (but that was a great scene...came out of nowhere) I was saying "omg" over and over again.

my favorite season is season 3. I love Wesley's fall, I love the false prophecy, I love Holtz's storyline.
I wasn't a big fan of Connor's character but more so in Season 4. Season 3 we we're still figuring him out and I liked him being evil at the end because I hated him already.
I loved the finale of Angel, but that ending was unfair. It left WAY too much in the air.
You may argue it's up to our imagination to decide what happens and that may be what you like. But if I wanted to use my imagintion I would have made up my own storylines and not watched the episode. Give me a friggin' end.

And I liked him as evil. But I didn't like him as the conflicted "good guy".
And of course I loved the plot and story with Connor before birth and as a baby. I just didn't like the second half of teenage Connor story/character.
again mostly creepy whiny Cordy hooker-upper Connor from Season 4.
I mean you gotta admit in the Season 4 finale everyone wanted Connor to get what was coming to him.

k, I dont if any of you remember Dark Horse Comics is going do a season 8 of Buffy, and now it looks like Dark Horse will give a conclusion to Angel's series finale cliffhanger:
http://www.slayerverse.net/tanet/net_buffy_us/index.php?navi=news.php&id=16549:
Cliffhangers From ANGEL's Finale May Finally Be Resolved
Read on to learn what's new for Angel in 2005 ...
Remember a while back, when Rich mentioned the license for Angel possibly moving from Dark Horse to IDW? Well, it¡¦s happened. The deal just went down recently and the first Angel miniseries from IDW will hit in Summer 2005. A creative team hasn¡¦t been finalized yet, though Joss Whedon will be onboard as an advisor. Whedon isn¡¦t currently expected to write any of the stories himself, as his time is still divided between Astonishing X-Men and the Serenity feature film. So he¡¦s already got a lot on his plate even if those Wonder Woman movie rumors don¡¦t pan out.
Incidentally, this doesn¡¦t affect the Serenity license at all, which looks to be set at Dark Horse. Nor does it cover the rights to Buffy The Vampire Slayer. In fact, certain characters like Buffy (and possibly Willow) can¡¦t be used by IDW at all, at least under the current deal. However, a Faith miniseries may be in the cards and certain lingering cliffhangers from the Angel series finale may finally be resolved.

as I know of there is now Buffy/Angel movie in the process. Joss is too busy. The casts from both series are too busy. Basically the only thing happening are the comics and a the cartoon. To me there can be two senerios(probably more):
1. Joss doesnt acknowledge the comics
2. Joss does acknowledge them, but through reference lines or flasbacks(he did those one-liner references w/ the crossover episodes of both shows).
Two would be the more logical considering the fact Joss is okay the stories for both.

It only for comics not for TV. It maybe different group, but perhaps some Angel writers will step in. Jane Espenson and Doug Petrie are writing some of the Buffy Season 8. And there will be no crossovers from the Buffy characters in the comics in this contract.

It's Confirmed - IDW To Publish ANGEL Comics
So what will ANGEL's future look like in the reality of comic books ? "It'll be set at some point after the show ended," Ryall said.
IDW Publishing will publish comic books based on the former WB television series Angel, editor-in-chief Chris Ryall told The *********.
Although plans are still being firmed up, IDW will likely kick off the property with a mini-series that starts in May or June.
"It'll be set at some point after the show ended," Ryall said. "We'll also do a couple one-shots that spotlight other characters and have more minis beyond the first one."
No creative teams have been announced, although it should be noted that former IDW editor-in-chief Jeff Mariotte, who now contributes to the publisher as a free-lance writer, has written Angel novels.
Angel, created by Joss Whedon and David Greenwalt, spun out of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and ran on The WB from 1999-2004. Angel comics were previously published by Dark Horse Comics.

2. Buffy The Vampire Slayer: The Complete Sixth Season (Fox)
Buffy fans generally feel the show peaked with seasons two and three, but its sixth season plays like one long, dark night of the soul, connecting the supernatural with the human more poignantly than ever. The "Big Bad" has never been less threatening—it's just a few geeks gone wild, really—but the battle-weary Scooby Gang, mired in a never-ending fight against evil, manifest their angst through black witchcraft, desultory sex, and an overwhelming sense of doom. The candy-colored musical episode ("Once More, With Feeling") is an obvious high point, but even that ends in what may be the series' saddest revelation.

actually it does, but like BtVS and AtS they give you references to what is going on. So when Pike comes you know some history w/ him and buffy after she was expelled from Hemery High her freshman year. There is enough info in they present w/ one-liner continuity from the comic line and the show.
However, the Angel part is altered quite a bit. "Note To The Underground" is in the timeline of the summer of Angel's season 3 and 4...and Buffy's season 6 and 7.
