another funny episode i love is Life Serial where each act has buffy at a different job. it was so funny:
-Buffy almost saying the f-word when all the time goes funky...."oh, crap"
-Buffy the Construction Worker lol. Xander's workers calling her Betty, Britney(Spears), and Gidget .(Sarah looked so cute w/ the little yellow construction hat) "maybe it was evil lint"

XANDER: No. No, not here. Not at my job. That's your job.
BUFFY: I can't help where the forces of darkness attack me, Xander.

-Buffy at the magic shop w/ the MUMMY HAND!!!! aww, the cute little mummy hand. to this day my baby sister still thinks its as cute as Puppet Angel
-Jonathan's monkey bone lol
-Andrew's homage to Stars Wars on the van, and on the horn
-Kitten Poker anyone
-and the noise Buffy made everytime she drank icky liquor....probably the reason we never see her drink liquor again

Hopefulsuicide
10-05-2004, 02:45 PM
i make that noise ever since i saw that, because it actually makes me feel better lol

life serial was great... i just love that bit were she goes to willows lesson and doesnt have a clue what they are talking about... i feel like that sometimes

Connor. I only started to like Dawn during season seven but even that was tolerance at best.

I'm always the odd one out, huh? lol

EDIT:
the reason I like Dawn more because the character of Dawn is very personal to me. I said before(at least I think I did?) I am the oldest of four daughters(there actually five of us the oldest being our brother), and I see Dawn as one of my sisters. In fact, Dawn has many characteristics of my teenage sister. Her and I fight like cats and dogs just like Buffy and Dawn(reason why I love Real Me so much), but like them we will always try to protect each other even if the other sister doesnt know it. I see parts of myself in Buffy, and my sister see parts of herself in Dawn. heck, we connected more when we both watch seasons five through seven. there really is no need for justification of who likes conner and dawn because there is no wrong answer it purely are one's opinion. I just wanted to say why I like Dawn, so you know where I am coming from........sorry for the rambling :)

I have to agree. I liked Dawn, but she just didn't seem very interesting to me. Then, they started trying to give her things to make her interesting, like having her steal things to get attention, and having an inferiority complex from being the Slayer powerless sister, but that didn't really work, either.

Connor, on the other hand, was fascinating. You so wanted him to get over all his issues and be happy but, as time went on, you realized he was just too screwed up by all the things that had happened to him. Still, sometimes he would joke around with Gunn or something, and it was like the writers were showing you what a cool guy he could be if he hadn't been so damaged early on.

Plus, I loved the Connor fight scenes.

There's a Connor/Dawn site called
Unnatural (http://unnatural-brats.net/) (since both of them came into the world in less than normal ways). Considering how much fic is there, it seems to be a popular 'ship.

everytime my sister see's one of those two she always says that. It definitely would be a great scene :).

Dawn started to learn how to fight real well too. She didnt have that much training compared to Conner since Buffy and Joyce wanted to protect her, but she was kicking butt like in Never Leave Me and Chosen with the Bringers and Ubervamps.

What I loved about Connor's fights was that he put his whole being into them. There was no holding back. He didn't care about pain or getting injured. When he got hit, you knew he felt it down to his bones (thanks to VK's great reactions) but he just shook it off and kept on fighting. Of course, you realize that's because he grew up thinking pain was just a normal part of every day life, something he learned to deal with as a young child, which is kind of sad. (And makes you want to go medieval on Holtz.)

i totally agree. I love Conner's fighting style plus it was part of him. his everyday life just like Angel and Buffy. i'm not disagreeing his fighting was cool(it was), but i enjoyed watching Dawn(and Potentials) train to become really good fighters as well is all.

To some degree yes because Angel didnt get his soul like Spike did. Spike got his soul even when he was soulless. Angelus was cursed, and he would have never gotten his soul. Angelus wouldnt have changed because he loves the art form of killing. He had to be cursed to change whereas Spike didnt it. A soul to Angelus is the worse thing that couldve happened to him. thus, the Gypsies did the best course of action of punishing Angelus by giving him a soul and a consicous(sp?).

Thanks, wow maybe I'll tune in for that episode.

Big Sarah news! I'm really excited about this one. The article comes from ign.com:

Sarah Michelle Gellar is joining the cast of Donnie Darko filmmaker Richard Kelly's next flick, Southland Tales. Gellar talked about the possibility in a recent chat with SCI FI Wire. "I had seen Donnie Darko, and I thought Richard Kelly was pretty much a genius," she said. "We met and he told me this idea he had for his follow-up film."

Kelly recently talked with us about his next film during Comic-Con International. "I can't really say too much about the next film," he said. "I hope it's going to be a lot of fun [and] appeal to audiences who liked [my] first film." Describing it as a "comedy/musical/thriller," Kelly stated that it is "twice as ambitious" as Darko.

Gellar told SCI FI Wire that she took the role because of the original ideas in the script. "I pretty much would have said yes blindly, but it was just such a great character, and he just had so many great ideas that it was something I was definitely interested in doing. It's impossible to explain, really. If someone hadn't seen Donnie Darko, or didn't know anything about it, could you imagine trying to describe it? 'OK, it's about a boy and this imaginary bunny?' Richard Kelly's movies are so abstract that they're somewhat difficult to pigeonhole. But Southland Tales is basically [set] over a Fourth of July weekend during an election year, and it's about the chaos in the future [in 2008], and what happens to Hollywood. It's sort of a biting comment on our tabloid society. Does that work?"

Southland Tales is tentatively set for a 2005 release.

I love Donnie Darko. I'm so excited about Richard Kelly's new project!

Summers

yea, a lot of us at the smgboard.com knew of the project but didnt know if it was rumor or not until Sarah confirmed in that article, and in her new interviews. Sarah is going to make apperances to promote The Grudge on:

October 20 (Wednesday) - Letterman
October 21 (Thursday) - Good Morning America, TRL
October 22 (Friday) - Regis and Kelly, Conan

she's always great on Conan :), and Kelly Ripa are best friends from their days on All My Children so that should be interesting. Spike, you read the link on the animated series update?

Summers

oh, then it definitely balances out money wise then because the episodes are very expensive in Europe compared to the States.

so you never watched any of the episodes in dvd quality. Hush and Once More With Feeling are awesome in it.

the only new info i found out it was that the boxset is in widescreen. Joss in the states specifically said buffy was never meant to be widescreen(Angel was), so it will defiinitely look different. let's just say you see a little bit more of Xander in Grave, then you do in full screen.

DishDiva says: GREAT questions!!
DishDiva says: I saw "The Grudge" a few weeks ago---scary stuff!
DishDiva says: I watched the movie with my hands over my eyes
DishDiva says: Scared critic.
DishDiva says: Welcome to MSN Live! This afternoon we pleased to welcome actress Sarah Michelle Gellar who stars in the new film "The Grudge."
DishDiva says: Sarah, welcome to MSN Live!
MSNLive_Star says: Thank you for joining us.
DishDiva says: We have so many questions, let's get started!
e2matoe in Onstage_1 asks: What was it like to work in Japan? Was it fun to experience new things around town?
MSNLive_Star says: Japan was amazing, I couldn't have asked for a more beauiful country with nicer people. I loved every minute of it.
smellycatgirl in Onstage_1 asks: which scene scared you the most while making "the grudge?
MSNLive_Star says: Goodness. I think any scene with Toshio or Kayako.
TarahP in Onstage_1 asks: Hello Sarah, what was your favorite part of the japanese culture? Also, favorite type of sushi?
MSNLive_Star says: There's so much to learn from the Japanese culture. It's just a beautiful culture based on tradition and the elder have to give. We live in a throw away society and I loved the pride of their history and beliefs.
8Thank you! Our guest has received your question and will make every effort to answer it. However, due to the large number of questions submitted, not all questions can be answered.
XxbuffylivesxX in Onstage_1 asks: I saw a recent interview where you said that "The Grudge" is unlike mainstream American horror film, even scarier. How so?
MSNLive_Star says: Just in the mannor in which it's filled. I think Hollywood horror has become formulaic. They follow a certain formula and in this movie, all the rules have changed.
Angeliyc1 in Onstage_1 asks: Sarah do you think that you will stick to movies or will you one day return to the small screen (ie television) we all miss buffy LOTS
MSNLive_Star says: Thanks, I miss Buffy a lot. It just depends. The schedule on a 1 hour television show is so grueling, I just can't do it right now. But I never say never.
amorfati85 in Onstage_1 asks: Hi Sarah. At first I would like to say hello to you from your Finnish fans. We love you very much. Then to the question. Southland Tales... Interesting cast and interesting -- well everything. Can you tell us something about your role in this movie?
MSNLive_Star says: It's so hard to explain. Richard Kelly is such an incredible genius. I will say my character is a porn star.
DishDiva says: Ok, then.
HPD2004 in Onstage_1 asks: Sarah besides Japanese, what other languages do you know and which language would you like to learn? How about spanish? Lol, "Te quiero Sarah!" ... "That means, I love you Sarah".
MSNLive_Star says: Unfortunately I'm still working on English. I take a little bit of Spanish but unfortunately in America we don't stress learning new languages at a young age and my brain is too old. (laughs)
DishDiva says: Sarah, when I met you a few weeks ago, I caught your great sense of humor. Have you thought about doing a comedy?
DishDiva says: Evil comedy I think you would be good at.
8Thank you! Our guest has received your question and will make every effort to answer it. However, due to the large number of questions submitted, not all questions can be answered.
MSNLive_Star says: I love comedy but my comedy is esoteric that it has to be the right thing.
playground_1 in Onstage_1 asks: How did your cast help you make a good movie?
MSNLive_Star says: The cast is amazing. When you're that far away from home and isolated, they are the first people you rely on. To have a cast this diverse just made it more fun. We were able to spend time together and days off exploring.
mialove83 in Onstage_1 asks: Sarah, you are such an inspiration to me. You're always so optimistic and eager to learn. What is the trick to staying so positive in a career full of criticism?
MSNLive_Star says: That's a really good question. Ya know, my mother always taught me to believe in myself, and the key to others believing in you is self confidence. Life is too short to live it with the glass half empty.
only_spuffy16 in Onstage_1 asks: First, I'd like to tell you that you're a real model for our generation and for me and the question is How do you prepare yourself when you play a role in a movie?
MSNLive_Star says: It just depends and what's asked of you. Sometimes it's something you can relate to and other times, you have to have faith in the script and director. Obviously playing a foreigner in Japan wasn't a stretch.
Tallgent75 in Onstage_1 asks: Hey, Sarah! Congrats on The Grudge and landing Southland Tales. Twisted fun times for you ahead. My questions is: What's been your greatest acting challenge from an emotional standpoint thus far, and how did you get yourself into that scene?
MSNLive_Star says: I think each job, or hopefully each job, presents it's own challenges. You learn with each job. Catherine in "Cruel Intentions" and "Buffy" have their own emotional ups and downs. I would hate to pick one. If I had to pick one it would be "The Body" the
MSNLive_Star says: episode where Buffy's mother died.
smgpixcomfrenchie in Onstage_1 asks: How was it to make the animated project, Happily N’Ever After with Freddie, and when will you promote it?
MSNLive_Star says: Animated movies are fun because as an actor you have to get up early and get makeup done. There's something to be said for going to work in a baseball cap. Animated movies take such a long process.
DarkPrincess1984 in Onstage_1 asks: Many many greetings from Austria! what are your plans for the future? And are you content with your past?
MSNLive_Star says: Yes. I am content with my past. I believe life is a series of lessons and it's our job to learn from them. If you can take from them, they are worth experiencing. As for my future, I take it one day at a time.
KissMeJane in Onstage_1 asks: Sarah as you've shown yourself to be a giving person, could you tell us the charities that are most important to you?
MSNLive_Star says: I'll tell you some of my favorites. I love the Make a Wish Foundation and Starlight Foundation that grant terminally ill children wishes. Also Starbright that hooks up home bound kids to the internet. Project Angelfood who takes food to homebound people.
Bebechick88 in Onstage_1 asks: Thanks for coming! Where do you get your great fashion sense? You're my idol!!
MSNLive_Star says: Habitat for Humanity and anything to do with breast cancer like Young Survivor's Coalition. The thing about charities is they are all important and you can always make a difference.
MSNLive_Star says: I just love clothing and fashion. I love vintage pieces. It comes from passion. Passion for fashion. (laughs)
eda_turkish in Onstage_1 asks: Do you still have contact to Jason, I mean are you two friends or are you too busy to meet?
MSNLive_Star says: I think he's just two floors below me in the hotel, so that's a no. (laughs) We're having dinner with me as soon as his chats over, so don't forget to ask him lots of important questions about me. (laughs)

Sweetjam79 in Onstage_1 asks: What makes you the happiest at this time in your life?
MSNLive_Star says: Pretty much everything. I'm pretty happy these days. I don't think there's one specific thing that makes me happy.
DishDiva says: Does acting still make you as happy as when you first started?
MSNLive_Star says: Oh it makes me happier. I love what I do and I think it's great I get to get up every morning and do a job I love. I wouldn't do it if I didn't love it.
douhaveagrudge in Onstage_1 asks: Will you do some promo for "The Grudge" in Europe?
MSNLive_Star says: Yes I will. But I don't know exact dates and specifics. I think they keep me on a needs-to-know basis. (laughs)
8Thank you! Our guest has received your question and will make every effort to answer it. However, due to the large number of questions submitted, not all questions can be answered.
ILuvJasonBehr3 in Onstage_1 asks: Jason is one of my favorite actors. I read that while in Japan you guys watched Roswell, did you enjoy watching it?
MSNLive_Star says: They stole my e-mail address! (laughs)
MSNLive_Star says: I had seen it when it came on the first time in Japanese. Anything that is in another language is pretty funny.
DishDiva says: Do you have a choice in who voices your characters?
lmblack21 in Onstage_1 asks: Sarah you once said you'd like to do a play, maybe in the West End, London. Is that still something you'd like to do and what would it be?
MSNLive_Star says: No you don't. It just goes abroad, but certain people have the same person do their voice in all their movies like Cameron Diaz in "Shrek."
DishDiva says: Make sure you check out "The Grudge" this weekend!
MSNLive_Star says: I think you can jump from mediums easily, tv, movies, plays. I would love to do a play, but it would have to be the right thing. Something origional.
DishDiva says: I hear you have big plans for tonight.
MSNLive_Star says: We are hosting a midnight screening of the film and they are having a costume contest. So I'm obviously coming as the little Japanese boy. (laughs)
sithpanther in Onstage_1 asks: Where there many differences between "The Grudge" and it's Japenese counterpart film?
DishDiva says: You can also start entering your questions for Jason Behr who will be onstage in 10 minutes.
MSNLive_Star says: There are certainly obvious differences like the blonde girl in the new one. (laughs) There has been some storylines to support the American actors but we stayed true to the story. For this story to remain true it needed to be made in Japan with the same

Spoiledsquishy in Onstage_1 asks: Sarah, many stars have been critized by the media as being too fat, or too thin. What advice can you give to young people to avoid that stereotype?
MSNLive_Star says: director. This is the first time a Japanese movie has been remade in for American audiences with the same director.
MSNLive_Star says: I believe it's a hard time and you have to remember to be healthy. There is no healthy crash diet. Your body needs every nutrition to remain healthy.
MSNLive_Star says: When you look at images in magazines you have to remember there's so much digital work that goes into that. It's important to not base a realistic image on a picture. It's just not realistic.
EvilFirePixie8 in Onstage_1 asks: Greetings from SMGfan.com! You've said you won't be singing in Southland Tales. Why not? You've got a great voice.
MSNLive_Star says: Oh you are too kind! I will leave that only for the shower.
DishDiva says: I remember though the singing episode you did on "Buffy" and you guys did a great job with that.
MSNLive_Star says: That was rough. It was a huge undertaking and we only had three weeks and I'm such a perfectionist, three weeks was not long enough for me! But we were really proud of the outcome.
SweetPhotoQueen in Onstage_1 asks: Will you happen to be at the next Comic Con? (Since I missed the last one..
MSNLive_Star says: I don't know, I haven't been invited yet.
Ivy1181 in Onstage_1 asks: Loved your pictures in Entertainment Weekly, I guess you must be a big horror movie fan.
MSNLive_Star says: I love any movie that makes you feel. I love being scared. I love going to the movies and jumping and spilling my popcorn. Thank you for the comment on the pictures.
Natali424x in Onstage_1 asks: Hi Sarah!! I love you so much as an actress, and you're a great role model. Do you ever happen to watch Buffy re-runs on your downtime? How does it make you feel?
MSNLive_Star says: I don't watch them that often because if I have an hour free I have other things I need to do with my time. But sometimes I will flip it on, it just makes me proud.
Watcher-97 in Onstage_1 asks: Hi Sarah. As you traveled through Japan, was there any one place that was more special to you than all the others?
8Thank you! Our guest has received your question and will make every effort to answer it. However, due to the large number of questions submitted, not all questions can be answered.
MSNLive_Star says: Every experience was so special I could never pick one. I did get to meet a Japanese sword maker, the one that made the ones in "The Last Samurai" and if I had to pick one I would pick that. He's close to being named as a national treasure.
DishDiva says: And he was the one who guided you towards selecting the sword for Freddie?
MSNLive_Star says: Yes.
Buffy_Freak0726 in Onstage_1 asks: Sarah, I just want to say that I am a huge fan of yours, have been since AMC. What I wanted to ask was how's married life? I will be having a Grudge party after the movie wanna come?
MSNLive_Star says: Goodness knows what country I'll even be in, but have a great party. Married life is great, thank you.
Chlorid1 in Onstage_1 asks: Will there be a sequel?
kingster208241 in Onstage_1 asks: Are you considering doing a sequel to the Grudge?
MSNLive_Star says: I don't know, depends on if everyone goes out and sees the first one, but no pressure. (laughs)
VmanNyc20 in Onstage_1 asks: Sarah I'm your biggsest fan my name is varun. What was your favorite movie?
MSNLive_Star says: I have quite a few. "The Princess Bride" and "South Park" the movie.
DishDiva says: What is your idea of a perfect day?
DishDiva says: Now is a great time to enter your questions for Sarah's co-star Jason Behr! He will be onstage in just a few moments!
MSNLive_Star says: I'm pretty lucky in my life. I have a lot of perfect days. I love to travel and sight see. I also love to be at home, walking my dog and spending time with friends and family. I also like to lay on the beach. I'm indecisive. (laughs) I need a perfect week
MSNLive_Star says: Thank you for all your support of this movie and I want to thank everyone.
DishDiva says: Sarah, thanks for joining fans on MSN Live to talk with fans about "The Grudge."

that sounds interesting

I dont know about you guys but to me Sarah is one of those rare actresses a young woman that could look up to. I mean I look up to mom and friends, but their are always actors/actresses to look up to like Chris Reeve. and to me Sarah is one of mine :).

DishDiva (host) says: Jason, welcome to MSN Live! Jason, there are fans here from around the world!

MSNLive_Star (Jason Behr) says: Thank you for having me. I will try to be as clean as possible.

SuperV-Man in Onstage_1 asks: Hello Jason, how did you and the other cast feel about being in a foreign location with foreign people with only each other?

MSNLive_Star says: It was fantastic. I have known Sarah for quite a while and I have a friend in Tokyo to travel around with. We got really lucky with this cast, we would all go out and explore as much as we could. We touched every pocket of Tokyo. I've seen Samurai swords being made, Sumo wrestling, shrines, and just got out and saw as much of Japan as I could with the time given.

http://www.slayerverse.net/tanet/net_buffy_us/index.php?navi=news.php&id=13015
Honestly, though the WB had their chance. They gave up Buffy, and they are still trying to recover from their loss. They were unsupportive to Angel, and now they want it back because they are losing money again. I read an article that said 7th Heaven, Charmed, and SV are the only shows keeping them upfloat....barely.

Thanks Summers for those updates! Honestly I don't blame the poor girl (Sarah) for not doing commentaries! She was working nonstop everyday for like what, nine hours?!

WB wanting Angel back? You see, we told them it was a mistake, but nooo! Their loss, right?

Just saw The Grudge! It's really, really good. I loved it. Sarah is great in it. Didn't scare me as much as The Ring, but it's still really freaky! Oh, and one of the previews is The Ring 2! A very scary trailer! ;)

Edit: There's also another trailer for the movie Hide and Seek starring Robert De Niro, Dakota Fanning, Famke Janssen, and Elisabeth Shue. Now that trailer is freaky! :)

I'm glad you enjoyed it Spike. I knew the way they filmed it was similar to Ju-On. But it wasnt similar to The Ring or in your face scary like Saw. hmm...it surprised their expectations, and got a big profit out of it. It only had a 10 million budget :). And Christian Kane's movie is still in the top ten :)....I want to see that win it comes out on dvd.

Joss says no more tv....for now. It is from tvguide.com:

SPEAKING OF BUFFY...: Gellar's former boss, Buffy mastermind Joss Whedon, is getting out of the TV business — at least for the time being. According to Variety, Whedon has shuttered his Mutant Enemy production company because he says he has run out of ideas. "I spent a lot of time trying to think what my next series would be," Whedon said. "I couldn't think of anything. When that happens, it generally means something is just not working." For now, Whedon will continue to focus on features — including the forthcoming Firefly flick, Serenity. What does all this mean for the proposed Buffy cartoon? I'm told that remains on the drawing board.

i started off as a buffy fan... then angel got his own show and i watched that one and became hooked... you could not talk to me during angel. i was that deep into it. kinda how you guys feel about smallville.

but anyways,i am trying to find my replacement show... and although smallville will bever be angel... it does come pretty close :)

I bet the next time I'll see I will have those repressed feelings of anger as well toward the WB, wait I still do . I watched SV off and on when Buffy and Angel were on. But once Buffy left I was trying to find a replacement. I found some of it in SV and in Dead Like Me. but its never the same....no show can replace Buffy and Angel....k, now I'm sad.

"personally I wanna slay the dragon"....I love that last line said by Angel!!!!!!!

here's a clip of Sarah on The Tony Danza Show, but before you click on it I have to do an intro. Right before Sarah came on a viewer was asked to do a Buffy trivia question, and that question was "What was the name of the foreign exchange student in the episode Inca Mummy Girl?" Buffy Season 8 Confirmed...for comic books:

Buffy Season 8 Confirmed !!!!!!! But Not On TV...
From Mikejozic.com - 2004-10-28th

IN COMIC BOOK !!!!!!!! Jane Espenson has been interviewed by the website Mikejozic.com

MIKE JOZIC : Have you spoken with Scott Allie about doing any more comic book projects in the near future?

JANE ESPENSON : I have. Scott has been very eager for Joss Whedon and me to work on new books that take the Buffy saga beyond the end of the show. And just in the last week, Joss and I have begun talking about starting the conceptual work on this. It’s early days, but I think this will happen.

Also,

The Grudge has a sequel!

ANOTHER GRUDGE: According to the Hollywood Reporter, Senator International and Ghost House Pictures greenlighting a sequel to its hit horror movie, The Grudge, hiring scribe Stephen Susco to get cracking on a screenplay. No word whether Sarah Michelle Gellar or helmer Takashi Shimizu are aboard the follow-up.

Season 8 in comics that's okay. I really enjoyed reading the graphic novels....still it wont be the same :(.

The Grudge has been placed third in its third week out, and made about 89 million dollars :). That's huge considering the fact they thought no one saw it. I finally did, and I loved it. The way the direction was, and everything about it. The Grudge/Ju-On is really a very short story, but a good one.

While it will be cool to complete my Buffy DVD collection, season seven was probably the second weakest season of the show after season four. I liked the storyline with Principal Wood and Spike, it was cool to see Faith and Angel return, and I loved Caleb.

But whenever you have Buffy involved in something bigger than working with the key characters the show is not as good. The best part of the show is the interaction between the key characters. I hated the potential slayer storyline, and Kennedy was the most annoying b**ch ever. I also got pissed off when the group turned against Buffy as well.

Every season of Buffy is fun to watch and enjoyable. But when you rank season seven in terms of how good it was in comparison to the other seasons, it was definately not as good.

My ranking of the show :

1) S3
2) S5
3) S6
4) S2
5) S1
6) S7
7) S4

I thought that the Trio were hilarious, and that Willow ended up making a bad ass villan. Going into season six I was skeptical because raising Buffy from the dead seemed like a "jump the shark" moment to me. I still think the best place to end it would have been after season five. But they actually did a great job bringing her back from the dead and with season six as a whole. There were a few week episodes like Doublemeat Palace, and Riley had a pointless return to show off his new wife. But other than that, I loved season six.

A few episodes from season six that I really loved :

Normal Again - The concept of Buffy's life in Sunnydale being all in her mind was fascinating to me, and I loved how they ended the episode. It would have been a cool and messed up way to end the show by revealing she was crazy the whole time.

Seeing Red - The ending with Tara being shot was powerful and shocking, I loved seeing Warren being invulernable with super strength, and they had Spike take a disturbing turn in this episode. The episode was great from start to finish.

Life Serial - Very entertaining episode showing off the Trio and what they wanted to do to torment Buffy. One of the funniest things ever was watching Buffy having to relive the same part of the day over and over again.

Once More with Feeling - I cannot stand musicals. I have always hated them. But I will be the first to admit that this episode was well done and entertaining.

Tabula Rusa - An extremely funny episode!! I loved watching Spike discover he was a vampire, and that Giles and Spike thought that they were father and son. This was just an entertaining episode from start to finish. When I saw this episode for the first time, I swear that it was the hardest I had laughed at an episode of Buffy since I saw Bothered, Bewitched, and Bewildered back in season two.

I also thought the last three episodes of season three where Willow becomes evil, Giles returns, and Xander ends up saving the world were all fantastic. Not to mention the cliffhanger - Spike's got a soul. That was bad ass.

You picked out all my favourite s6 eps vyperman :)

Tabula Rasa was a great ep for fans, I loved all the references and in-jokes.

The season did get pretty dark though, and I wished they had handled Willow's descent more like "power corrupts" rather than "magic is an addiction".

In my opinion it was the fourth season.

You had Adam who was the most boring and non charismatic "big bad" ever. Riley was the most boring character to ever come out of the show and he turned out to be Buffy's love interest. The Iniative storyline was lame and it took time away from Buffy being with the Scooby Gang.

There were some very good episodes like :

- Hush
- This Year's Girl/Who Are You
- Something Blue
- A New Man
- Superstar (I always liked the Johnathan character)
- Primeval
- Restless
- Harsh Light Of Day (Made for a good Buffy/Angel crossover storyline)

Overall, I just disliked season four the most out of any season. But even Buffy at its worst is still better than most shows on television.

Personally, I LOVED THE LAST SEASON!!! Its a girl-power season. Not to be sexist or anything, that's not my intention, but the last season is more loved by women. Its hard to find a show that encourages femal empowerment, and not in a demeaning way. To see all the girls w/ various ages, apperances, and nationalities being reunited w/ one thing. Empowerment. That is as long as they choose to be. The strength not only comes from our physical, but rather w/ our mind. Season seven illustrated what the whole show was about. Chosen illustrated that.

See I disagree w/ you V-Man because their are other seasons where they worked out of the main characters. Season three, five, four, and seven. There was more to those seasons than the main characters. Each season had an arc, and the last season was about going full circle. To find how slayers came about, and closing the hellmouth. TV shows have it very hard to have last season planned out, but Joss was able to do it.

Joss was always about the big picture, but I think they gave too much screentime to Kennedy and Wood which took away from the other characters. Plus have to remember Joss loves Shakespeare, and it takes some things from that. I was very pissed when her friends kicked Buffy out of her own home, but to have her two formal arch-nemsis(Faith and Spike) actually care for her more was interesting to watch(it was very Shakespearen). But it spoke volumes of Buffy's character. She didnt come back w/ a "I dont you so" or hold a grudge in End of Days, but rather she did as she always does which was lead, fight, and protect her family, friends, and the world. It was about Buffy's character.

To have an all out war that would close the hellmouth, and allow Buffy to have a normal life. Seven is a more girl power season than all of the series. Sorry, but SEASON SEVEN ROCKED!!!!! because it it showed the primary theme of the show.

Actually, though what I observed many buffy fanatics view seasons one, six, and four the weakest seasons. While two, three, five, and seven were the strongest. That's the majority rule, but I still love one, six, and four. The weakest Buffy seasons still have the best continuity, writing, acting, and character development that SV or any other show have done.

I rank:
(1)Season Five
(2)Season Three
(3)Season Seven

i would make a new topic but it would be a waste of space:

1/ Bring back Angel

2/ Angel Tv Movies

3/ Spike Spinoff

4/ Illyria Spinoff

5/ a show involving both spike and illyria

6/ something else, and that doesnt involve destroying a movie franchise like Alien

its already out here in australia. and its already selling for 15 dollars here a half-season box

im waiting for angel season 5 to come out in australia and that would be it

Wow, that's weird. I went to my Wal-Mart today and they had Buffy Season Seven already for sale! And they were already mostly sold out, two sets were still left! One thing I did notice about the DVD set was that SMG's eyes aren't colored like they were when the cover art was first released, it has her natural eye color, which made me happy. Thought I'd let y'all know in case you stop by some place where they sell DVD's to not hesitate to look. :)

Buffy does smile at the last shot of Chosen.

Summers
11-17-2004, 02:07 PM
well, its not like a big Buffybot smile or anything(which is so cute) but it was developing into a big one. To that smile is very significant because in season six Buffy was losing herself and degrading herself on purpose because she was a basically tramaized from season five and coming out of her own grave, plus she didnt like herself anymore. You kinda see the same confident buffy in the beginning of last season, but her depression was coming back again. But from the last half of Touched to Chosen was the Buffy we know and love(well I did), but matured more far more matured than she ever was. I mean Buffy was actually fairly matured for her age especially in seasons two and three.

I just thought "the smile" was so significant that it should be in Region One cover art is all. Leave it to me to be picky, huh? lol. I just love that smile and look at the end....it just makes me smile :):

IT IS THE GIFT MONTAGE :). The egg, and the signature Buffy "B"

I'm a happy camper. After SV and doing some term papers I finally watch the special features. They are one of best feaurettes. Showing Buffy S1 to S7. I was crying and getting all sentimental. It feels weird because for the past year and half its been like a cooling period w/out Buffy, and now seeing it again brings back so many memories. I loved how they talked about how the last year was the primary statement of the show. Female empowerment.....I love it when I'm right because you are never quite sure if you are thinking on the same level as the creator or writers. I loved how they acknowledged the Internet community. This is only show that shows respect and acknowledgement of the Internet. Havent heared the commentaries yet.

They really state that BtVS really laid the groundwork for other shows, such 24, Alias, and heck even SV. Next week episodes is like "Nightmares" so it should be excellent. As a Buffy viewer I think we are very spolied because of so much continuty, character development and progression, writing. And they didnt treat us as if the audience were stupid. They didnt patronize us, but rather let us think for ourselves what is right and wrong. This show shows so much depth, human emotion, and moral and ethnical issues. the ironic thing is it is all based in a fantasy world that isnt real, but the characters are.

As of right now the Buffy cartoon is finished they just looking for networks for distribution. Its rumored that Showtime may get it, but it doesnt they have said we will be able to get the cartoon on dvd :). And it is set in the high school years, and includes Dawnie. Dark Horse Comics is rumored to do a eight season of BtVS on the graphic novel level w/ many of the buffy writers.

EDIT: on Amazon Buffy's S7 is listed at #8 baby. Buffy can always hold her own :).

For those who dont know way Sarah hasnt done Buffy commentary is read here:
http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/art-tv.html?2004-10/22/11.00.tv
I still dont see a biggie. I mean I'm not mad if Tom cant do one for SV. If they can, then they can. If they cant I dont mind. I just love having the dvd. And all sometime the times they need to the commentary the actors cant make it. Like Emma Caulfield was suppose to do one for Hell's Bells but she was working at the time(which was said in the commentar).

I heard someone on another board say the same exact thing. Joss really ruined it for me as well. I mean there some excellent shows, but nothing compares. I havent heard any date yet for the comic. On the cartoon the recent news is that they are setting specifically in season two. Now the second half of that season was pretty dark and flowed into season three. So I wonder if its the first half or second half of that season because there is a difference in the atmosphere. Season 7 giving my fix right now, and they still making Buffy novels unfornately after this year the Angel books stop :(.

indeed it was sad, but out of all the people there I wanted her die. I stopped liking her character from since Get It Done where she said she was not longer the Scoobies friends anymore even if she lived at the Summers's house. I still get pissed everytime I see Empty Places of what she says to Buffy that Buffy is luckier than everyone else.

Look at Buffy's life...yea she's lucky. The weird thing is yes Buffy admited that she felt superior, but because of that she felt that she was beneath them including Anya. It took a good while that the reason why Anya said those things that she scared out of wits.

It was nice to her and Andrew scenes together in End of Days. That's the first time since Selfless that I liked again. I dont I have mixed feelings on Anya, but overall I loved her character :). I had to go find this quote. Besides "It Must Be Bunnies" and the speech in The Body.. this is one of my favorite Anya quotes from the End of Days:
ANYA
Well...I guess I was...kinda new to bein' around humans before. But now I've... seen a lot more, gotten to know people... seen what they're capable of, and... (shrugs) I guess I just realized...how amazingly screwed-up they all are. I mean really, really screwed-up in a monumental fashion.

ANDREW
Oh. (nods)

ANYA
And they have no purpose that unites them, so they just drift around, blundering through life until they die...which they...they know is coming, yet every single one of them is surprised when it happens to them. They're incapable of thinking about what they want beyond the moment. They kill each other, which is clearly insane. And yet, here's the thing. When it's something that really matters, they fight. I mean, they're lame morons for fighting, but they do. They never... never quit. So I guess I will keep fighting, too.

great quotes for Enya

the below quote is one I really liked, but it sounds better when you watch her say this, rather then reading it.

"ANYA: (crying) I don't understand how this all happens. How we go through this. I mean, I knew her, and then she's, (sniffling) there's just a body, and I don't understand why she just can't get back in it and not be dead anymore. It's stupid. It's mortal and stupid. (still teary) And, and Xander's crying and not talking, and, and I was having fruit punch, and I thought, well, Joyce will never have any more fruit punch ever, and she'll never have eggs, or yawn or brush her hair, not ever, and no one will explain to me why."

IMO one of best quotes in film/tv history because it just said so much. Its hard putting emotions into words, and somehow Joss did it, and Emma Caulfield did a terrific job acting it. Brings a tear to my eye :(.

heck, I still cry today if I see that scene. I'm was so happy when Xander broke the uncomfortable silence by putting his arm through the wall:

Shot of Xander in the doorway with his left hand stretched out, obscured by the wall.

XANDER: Sorry, sorry, some ... pent-up...
WILLOW: (getting up) Xander...

Willow walks around the corner and discovers Xander's hand is buried in a hole in the wall.

WILLOW: Where did your hand go?
XANDER: As I was saying, some frustration, and now, uh ... I appear to be stuck.
ANYA: My god. (ducks under his arm to get to the other side) Is your hand okay?
XANDER: Pretty much. I, I'm really sorry.
WILLOW: Did it make you feel better? (Anya looks up at Xander)
XANDER: For a second there.
WILLOW: A whole second?
XANDER: In my defense, some crappy wallmanship.
WILLOW: Yeah, you can hear everything next door.
XANDER: Who did the drywall in this place?
WILLOW: I always forget to ask.
TARA: Did I miss something?
ANYA: Xander decided that he blames the wall.

man, I had to emotions going there tears and laughing until it hurts.

you havent seen it? Its in Buffy's Season Five called "The Body" which centers around the characters's grieving for Buffy and Dawn's mother Joyce. Each act is separated in groups, so it gives more of a play feel and makes it harder for the audience:
-Act 1 is Buffy and The Body(Joyce :( )
-Act II is Dawn at school and Buffy arriving to tell her that their mom passed
-Act III has Tara, Anya, Xander, and Willow at Willow's dorm room
-Act IV is everybody together at the hospital

And each character represents a different emotion with grief:
Buffy-Shocked(she found her mother dead on the couch)
Giles-experenced in grief, and playing the father figure
Dawn-Denial of it
Willow-Scared
Xander-Anger
Anya-the child who doesnt understand
Tara-experience before, but is support and holds comfort for her friends

IMO it is one the most heart-wrenching episodes on tv period. There is no music whatsoever in the episode because Whedon said music makes it easier for the audience(if you think about it does), and he wanted us to feel uncomfortable, to feel the pain. Joss Whedon also wrote and direct it about the few hours after someone passes which are the most uncomfortable, boring hours can be. He did an excellent job at the writing, and the camera angles he used were very tight and the reason why Buffy was never in widescreen. For an example:
http://www.screencap-paradise.com/gallery/view_photo.php?set_albumName=Buf_516&id=Body128
In this picture he made Sarah look very small and vulerable by having the paramedic huge in the picture and her barely in the frame. Or:
http://www.screencap-paradise.com/gallery/view_photo.php?set_albumName=Buf_516&id=Body524
putting all three Summers's girls together wasnt either.

Sarah Michelle Gellar was nominated for this episode for the Golden Globes, however; Joss's writing and directing, and acting by the other actors where passed over like always. Many critics and fans were in an uproar by this(including me), but at least there was some recognition by Sarah's nomination :).

Do you know what? I just clicked the link and realized I put the wrong thread in.

But I'm serious about the TV Club.

How many episodes per week do you think would be a good number? I'd say 3-4.

How about the first week We watch Buffy S1, ep 1-2 (Welcome to the hellmouth), A random Season 1 episode to be determined, and S1Ep 12 (prophecy girl).

Then we could have a thread dedicated to the current week's show. We could do another show next week, or move on to the 2nd season of buffy.

What do you say?

Oh, by the way, I fixed the link above. Now it points to a thread instead of a program. Sorry about that.

Easy, we just only choose shows that are easy to get a hold of :) :P

That's part of the reason I chose Buffy, you can rent Buffy Dvd's at almost any local video store from Blockbuster to Hollywood Video.

But one of the guildelines for submitting Tv Shows would be how difficult they are to get a hold of. You'd need to submit where we can find the show (probably something like Season 1 westwing dvd's at local blockbuster) and we can just ignore any tv show that's submitted without an easy way to get the show.

There are tons of tv show Dvd's out there, it would take us years to go through them all at 4 episodes a week. If We just did Buffy and nothing else it would take us at least 3 months to go through all 7 seasons.

I don't think finding tv shows that are easy to get a hold of will be that difficult.

Angel: Illyria

Hey guys, if you had to pick your ten favorite episodes from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, what would they be?

Mine :

1) The Wish - I love alternate reality episodes

2) The Gift - Dramatic finish to season five. Should have been the series finale. I loved season six a lot, and season seven had a good ending. But it would have made a fitting end to the show.

3) Hush - Scary and well done overall

4) Doppelgangland - Great continuation on The Wish

5) Bothered, Bewitched, and Bewildered - Funniest episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer

6) Seeing Red - Dramatic ending with Tara being shot, Warren with super strength, and the height of disturbance in Buffy and Spike's twisted relationship.

7) Zeppo - An awesome Xander-centric episode.

8) Halloween - Loved the concept of the characters turning into their costumes

9) Something Blue - The first hint of Buffy and Spike together. This episode was hilarious.

10) Normal Again - An episode that really makes you think. It makes sense that Buffy could be imagining the whole thing. What if everything that happened was all in her mind?

Funniest episodes for me :

1) Bothered, Bewitched, and Bewildered
2) Something Blue
3) Tabula Rasa
4) Band Candy

how much is it to rent dvd sets? because like Mysticlies I'm on a tight budget. Heck, I save my money since June to buy both SV and Buffy two weeks ago. and now in the process to save for The Grudge, Elektra, and Angel S5. basically being a grad student I'm tapped out.

Favorite Angel Character? It has to be Wesley! He was such a dork you can't help but love him!

Favorite Buffy Character? Wesley again! I just love that guy! But as for favorite regular character, it has to be Tara. By the end of the run it seems like a lot of the scoobies had become a bit Selfish but Tara was always nice. I liked her.

At Blockbuster New releases cost 3.50 (but I don't plan on discussing newly released tv shows), and favorites cost $.99 a dvd. Wednesdays Blockbuster has a rent one, get one free policy.

So, In order to rent all of Buffy season 1(3 dvd's) it will cost you $3 and all of Seaon 2(6 dvd's) will cost $6. But renting 6 dvd's is overkill, its a much better idea to only rent one or two dvd's at a time.

I was sort of hoping to keep each weeks shows to a 2 dvd max limit ( in other words only episodes that span 2 dvds, for buffy S1 it would be dvd 1 and dvd 3). That way if you rent the show on Wednesday you only have to pay $.99 to participate in this week's discussion. Or if you're rich you could rent any other day and pay $1.98 for both dvds :) :P

Do you have broadband? I know of many ways to get TV shows over the net but won't post them because those sites are frowned upon by Kryptonsite.

Pm me each week and I'll help you find the shows you need online.

The thing is, the last two seasons have been discussed to death, I'm more curious on what people think of the first couple of seasons. And I sort of want to go in order that way people that have seen the shows can participate in the discussion.

Lets pretend Next weeks show is Deep Space nine. I've never seen a single episode so I wouldn't be able to participate if we started at season 6. If we start at season one then everyone, not just the fans get to talk about the show.

Since I already did a top ten list for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I thought I would list my ten favorite episodes of Angel :

1) Appocolypse Nowish - Awesome villan in the Beast, fight on the roof, sky raining fire, and Angel seeing his son sleeping with Cordelia. Best episode I have seen yet in seasons 1-4.

2) Sleep Tight - Fantastic episode. I loved how Holtz stole Connor into a Hell dimension, and how they left Wesley near death in the park. A lot of suspense and drama.

3) I Will Remember You - Since I am a bigger fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer than I am of Angel, this one really hit home. One of the most heartbreaking endings I have ever seen.

4) Hero - The dramatic death of my favorite character Doyle. I thought the whole episode was well done.

5) Reunion - Darla and Drusilla go to town on the people of Los Angeles, and Angel lets the people of Wolfram and Hart be slaughtered.

6) Orpheus - Willow makes an appearance and we get to see inside of Angel's mind while he fights against his alter ego Angelus.

7) City Of - A great pilot that did a very good job setting up the rest of the series.

8) Spin the Bottle - Extremely funny episode of Angel.

9) Five by Five - The first appearance of Faith on Angel, and it was her best one in my opinion. I loved watching Wolfram and Hart recruit her to take Angel out.

10) Guise will be Guise - Some people did not like this episode, but I loved it because it was Wesley-centric. I enjoyed watching him trying to be Angel and falling for his new girlfriend in the process.

You have to remember that Holtz winding up in the 21st century was sudden for him. He spent years around the evil Angelus witnessing the havock and destruction that he left. If Holtz went from that to Angel suddenly, I would also have a hard time believing the change if I was in Holtz's position.

Well, luckly with Buffy, Angel, and SV I bought all the dvds, so there is no worry there.

V-Man already did your top ten for Angel? Believe me you are going to change some of those when you see the last season....if not then I'll be surprised.

On the Holtz matter I'm with V-Man on this because Angel tried to tell Holtz the same thing, but the thing is Holtz never seen anything besides the demon in Angel. In a way much like Xander did at times. In a way just seeing the demon helps Holtz in taking his revenge because he didnt see any humanity in Angel. He didnt want to. I mean if your are going to take revenge on somebody its easier if the person you are doing it to is a monster.

It is based on what I have seen in seasons 1-4.

I have a feeling that You're Welcome will be added and maybe Smile Time as well. Although the idea of Angel being a puppet sounds stupid to me. But so many people have said that the episode is funny and well done overall, so maybe I will be impressed. I am not looking forward to the series finale, simply because Joss went against what he said. He did an interview in Entertainment Weekly and specifically went on record saying that he would not end the show in a cliffhanger and he hates it when that happens. Then what does he do? He has the series finale end in a cliffhanger.

Cliffhangers are great for season finales to make people want to come back. But when you end the series, the fans should be left with a clear, cut ending that brings closure.

lol, well there is one thing you should know about Joss before any new episode of his is aired which.....HE NEVER TELLS THE TRUTH!! Sorry, I didnt mean to yell there I just wanted to created emphasis, and the bold text isnt working :(. He did the same thing with Buffy's series finale on what he said before it. The weird thing was it was in fact a cliffhanger, but to me it actually had closure for to me. I cant go into it because you havent seen it, but its one of my favorite episodes. Besides the EW articles Joss and the cast said it was the cliffhanger he wouldve used as a season finale...hence it being a cliffhanger.

On Smile Time just imagine all the episodes of Angel and Buffy you saw. The Musical, The Body, Spin The Bottle, Tablua Rasa, and Hush just to name a few. Very hard episodes, but they pulled it off because of the execution of the story. Execution is the key in writing a term paper to making a film. Just keep an open-mind, and you'll enjoy it. If you dead on to think its lame, and stupid your judgement will be that. I mean there is a reason why BtVS and AtS are character driven shows for a reason.

Your Welcome....not saying a word just watch :). Dont forget Destiny, and there is another one that was awesome Hell Bound. oh, there is so much more......just have to wait until Feburary :).

The Grudge had moments that made me jump, but once the movie was over I got over that fear. Whereas The Ring once it was over I was seriously still freaked out. When the phone rang the first time after I saw The Ring it made me jump and not want to answer it. I was afraid to look at my TV in my room. When I put in a tape into my VCR I double checked the label to make sure I knew what I was watching. I couldn't stand to see static on the TV because it would remind me of Samara coming through the TV. That is how bad The Ring spooked me. Though The Grudge was scary in some aspects the fear faded once the movie ended.

I guess it really comes down to what scares a person. I mean the woman's croaning, and that little boy freaked me out. When any kid is evil, and the kid can act it freaks me out. The Grudge/Ju-On is more of a short story on one of Japanese beliefs, and other culture's belief always intrigued me. Overall, I was pleased and impressed by the American adaptations of Ringu and Ju-On.

I heard that if the Grudge's sequel makes it good, their going to may like a horrier series for example Grudge 1,2,3,4... I read this somewhere on a site, lost it at the moment.

Well you are not wrong. Ju-On had like three sequels that I know of(maybe four but i'm not sure on that). Basically all the sequels come up to one big story, and the each separate film is a small piece of the story. They did greenlight a sequel to the American adaptation to The Grudge with the same screenwriter, but right now its unknown if the same director or Sarah is part of it. So its all up in the air right now. At least that's what I read on numerous sites.

None of the seasons disappointed?

Did both of you not see Season 7? And though I wouldn't say season 4 was terrible (There were some great episdoes like Hush and Faith) I will say that the entire season arc (Initiative) was rather disapointing.

nope. Actually season 7 is one of most loved seasons. Season four was weak, however; I wasnt disappointed in the writing, directing, or acting in any season of the series. They always had terrific continuity to one season to the next that the whole series can be seen as a journey for Buffy and her Scoobies. I mean a weak season in the Whedonverse is better than anything on tv. I was never disappointed in Buffy or Angel, however; I have been disappointed with Smallville though.

I agree. The 7th Season was great. I know my sister didn't like it because she wanted more Buffy & Spike like the 6th Season. I think that's why a lot of people didn't like it. But, it was one of my favorite seasons. I think they had a fitting end to the series. Wish the last episode could've been a 2 hour one though. The show was brought back to some of its roots in this season. It made me remember why I liked this show in the first place. If I had to pick a weakest season, it would be Season 4. Even that season had some of my favorite episodes: Something Blue, Pangs, Hush, and a few others. I pretty much didn't like Adam.

I agree, but I kinda liked Adam. He intrigued me from the way he thought to his hand held weapons in his arms "I've been upgrading". From all the Buffy boards I observed that a lot people like season 7, but a lot of people didnt but there was so specific thing they didnt like about. The only grip I have about the season was the potentials got too much screentime especially Kennedy . But I greatly enjoyed it, but enjoyed all the seasons.

To me the two weakest is four and one, however; those two seasons served there purpose to me. I mean we cant go to season 3 to season 5 without a point between. Season four the Scoobies became to find and adjust to their roles. They felt comfortable in them...hence season five is about family. Season four served a purpose of progressing the characters to get to season five. Honestly, if somebody erased season four it wouldnt make sense in the heroes/heroines journey. But that's me.

I'll PM some people who I know love Buffy, and ask them to post their picks. And on Monday will give the results because we are kinda of lacking. People look in here, but dont post lol. Greenshady, can you post your favorite character from Buffy and Angel. Choose only one from each show....pretty please :).

I agree, none of the seasons disappointed me. Like Summers said without season four season five to season seven wouldn't make sense. Season four is about the scoobies adjusting to the real life at college, knowing who they are and where they are going. Season four was very important even though it was a little weak.

My fave character from Buffy is Willow. For the most part she has been nothing but a loyal friend to Buffy. She was gentle yet strong in her own way. The writers allowed her to grow without throwing unrealistic characteristics at her.

From Angel it would have to be Fred. Pretty much for the same reasons I like Willow.

As for my favorite season, I would say 3. Faith was awesome.
