one good thing about this show is that it can survive when a major cast member leaves. and each new member instantly becomes a major part in the show. everything is kept moving along no matter what happens. it's just started it's 10th season and is renewed for two more years.
ER must be good. It has such a huge folowing and has been on forever. I've never really gotten into it, but I can appreciate it must have a high level of writing.

ER is one of my fave shows...I can never miss an episode.
It's currently out of season here.
Disco and any other ER fan...what's your favourite ER episode or storyline? Mine would be Dr. Green's passing. I cried buckets. The whole setting, the music, everything ~sniffles~ Didn't think the show would be the same without him but it has remained up there for me.
It will be a sad day if/when it gets cancelled.

The episode with Dr. Green dying was really sad...it was definitely one of the best episodes and one of the most memorable....but I didn't want him to die!
hmm...it's hard to choose just one episode. There's so many I like. I thought last year's season premiere where they were quarrentined in the hospital was really good. It was really exciting!

The episode when Dr. Green died had me sobbing for an hour afterwards I was so emotionally invested in the character. After he had gone I couldn't really be bothered and then it turned into the John and Abby show and I switched off. It's a real shame because I used to be glued to it :(

Amen to that!! I don't like the way they changed his character last season though...it was too much of a change from the sweet caring guy he used to be. What were they thinking...GRRR!!
My fave episode was the Dr. Green one but the most shocking was the one where Dr. Romano lost his arm. I really wasn't expecting anything like that to happen and I remember as I watched I gasped and covered my mouth...totally shocking.
And yes I know it's only a show but sometimes these shows suck us right in haha

my favorite i think dates back to year season 1 or 2. i even remember the name of the episode. "loves labor lost" or something like that. it's the episode that had every pregnant woman calling her doctor the next day.
dr. greene had to help with birth of a baby. actually he was doing it alone. for some reason the OB's were busy. anyway the woman had something called pre-eclampsia (sp?) which dr. greene did not detect. the mother died during childbirth. at the end you see the father holding the baby sitting by the mothers bed. then dr. greene gets on the train. the last scene is of him crying.

I looooved those five episodes of season 6, you know, when Alan Alda guest stars as Doc Gabriel Lawrence. Alan Alda as a doctor, that immedeately reminded me of his M*A*S*H days. My favourite characters are Carol Hathaway and Mark Greene - and now that both are gone I simply stopped watching!

was upset that alan alda didn't get the emmy for his guest appearance on the show. he did a wonderful job.
My favourite characters are Carol Hathaway and Mark Greene.
they were my favorites too.
btw the character dr. romano had his arm amputated. the other day they had an episode on and i could swear that the actor paul mcCrane was missing an arm. i even started searching the internet too see if it was true. well in this weeks TV guide they mention some of the special effects they now do in television shows. there is a company called stargate digital which has developed the technology to make his arm simply disappear leaving a little stump. i was completely fooled because it loods so real. in fact every outdoor scene showing the city chicago (where the show is to take place) is in fact fake.

The Mists of Avalon will be on TV this Friday, it is split up in four parts of sixty minutes and I'm going to tape them all. Julianna Margulies is Morgaine. I have the song featured in this movie, Loreena McKennit's haunting 'The Mystic's Dream'. It gives you the chills, really. Imagine endless green hills and meadows, fog and castles and you're in Avalon... I hope it's a good movie. Has anyone seen it? (Earlier this year I've seen Julianna in Ghost Ship). And Anthony Edwards is going to play Brains in the Thunderbirds movie - yippeee!
ER for 12 season or what? I do hope they let Alan Alda's character return for a couple of episodes!

It was a total shock when Romano died. Man he has bad luck with helicopters! I'm sad to see him go. I just don't know why they killed him off. He was one of the last really good characters on ER. They should have killed off one of the boring med students.
Just think... If Romano hadn't busted that guy for smoking pot, then he would have already been in the hospital when the plane crashed. I guess timing is everything.

I was so disappointed and shocked that Ramono was the chosen victim for this past espiode. I mainly watched ER because of him. I loved his blunt and realistic candor that irritated others. I don't think I'll be watching ER after the next eppy. Poor Ramono. He was a lonely man who really wanted others to be the best they could be without being dependent on others to solve their problems, and understand that life isn't fair or peachy keen. Frankly, all the other doctors bore me. The only other character I like is the flight nurse who is married to Lewis.

Personaly, I think that the show will be better without Ramono, I did not like him, I disliked him so much that as soon as I saw him walk outside the hospital I was like.. "The chopper is gonna fall on him" (because in the previews they show the chopper crashing in the Ambulance bay, so I knew it was going to fall atleast) and then when I see the chopper fall right at him I couldn't help but go "It does fall on him!" and my mom were laughing so like 5 minutes, we are evil people, I know, haha.

dr. greene takes his family to hawaii for a vacation just before he dies. he faxes a letter to the ER. i think it's dr. carter to reads it to everyone who is around.
Dear ER gang,
So, here I am, out on the beach at 5:30 in the evening. Elizabeth is sitting with me, drinking juice, but I'm all about the Mai Tais. The sun's going down. Rachel is dipping Ella's toes in the ocean, as they head off on a quest for the perfect seashell. And weirdly enough, I find myself thinking, you know what would make this moment complete? Some jogger dropping to the sand short of breath, so I can swoop in with a piece of bamboo to perform a nice, clean intubation, fix the guy up and send him off with a good, simple dispo. Which I guess is my way of saying that I miss you all and that dingy place. Lots of times I thought I should have chosen a different career, or gone into private practice - something easier, less grinding, more lucrative, but since I've been gone, I realize that outside of what I'm doing right now - sitting on this beach with my family - staying at County all those years, doing what we do on a daily basis, was the best choice I ever made. I know what you're thinking, but trust me, it's not so hard to appreciate once it's over. As much as part of me would like to believe that the ER can't go on without me, a smarter part realizes that you're an incredible group of doctors and nurses, who approach every day with such skill, compassion and thoroughness that, when it comes to patient care, I know my absence will hardly be felt. As for friendship and camaraderie - well, that's another matter. In order to leave, I had to go the way I did, but I wouldn't want any of you to think that that meant I didn't value each of you and the years that we worked together. Or that I didn't have things of a more personal nature to say. Most of you, I think, have an idea of what those things might be without me writing them down, but still...
Ella is laughing and waving for me; Rachel's found her shell...
they thought this was the end of the letter until dr. carter finds a second page sent by dr. corday.
Mark died this morning at 6:04 am. The sun was rising. His favorite time of day. I sent this on so that you might know he was thinking of you all and that he appreciated knowing you would remember him well.

oh, they did good editing on the episode trailer. Its like if you want to leave the ER you are going out in a death scene. Noah is the one leaving. That guy been there since the beginning. I had such a crush on him.
Sherry Stringfield is back.....right? I heard she got custody of her niece little Susan.

well Nila has always had problems getting more on a personal note with her patients. i'm sure if that lady was someone elses patient they would have remembered since it supposedly wasn't too long ago that she was in the hospital.
can't stand carters storyline... they can't find anything better for him then yet another "love' interest??!!
i also want to know what happens to Abby when she walks back in. i imagined her in total shock... maybe shaking a bit with a far off look in her eye. at first they would treat her as normal asking where the hell she's been until they see the blood on her and then notice that she doesn't look too well.

Weaver story line is going to be good!!!
sissy spacek has something to do with it!
i like Nila though, that other doctor, not pratt, Dr. Gallant
like her but then he went away to war i think
i love Carter story line with Thandie Newton (Kem) with the baby...so sad

I hope I hope I hope Gallant and Neela get together. Now that Hawaii went south, I hope they will bring Sharif Atkins back to the show.
And based on spoilers it looks like Noah Wyle is going to popping into the ER on occasion in future seasons, since he (and Kem?) are starting an HIV clinic stateside.

The Abby getting taken episode is about to air in the UK on Sunday night.... can't wait to see what happen's after those little snippet's of info ^^ I like Abby, so I hope she doesn't die!
I love Noah's character Carter. He's been in it from the beginning, he'll be really misssed from the show. I agree with you Disco that the new love interest is a bit of a dumb storyline... he just lost his baby with Kem, he wanted to marry her and she say's not yet and woah... suddenly he's flirting about with someone else??? That's just so wrong somehow.

Saw the episode... wow, that was good. I was really worried when they turned up that dirt track and all that scene was just awful... :( Poor Abby, she always has bad things happening to her one way or another. I'm also curious as to what happened when she went back to the E.R. I had visions of her about to get a yelling at for walking off the shift, until everyone sees all the blood and dirt on her uniform... it would have been good to see that kind of ending.
I don't know why you never knew I was from the U.K.?? I thought you knew :) But yes, I am from sunny :p Grande Britannia :D Almost right in the middle of the map in Staffordshire, in the area known as The Potteries, because it's the heart of the British pottery industry. This show has gone down hill ever since Carter went to Africa. I am happy that Luka and Abby are together and have a new baby, at least that is some excitement.

They did do a lot with his character over the years, I can't think of anything they could have done next. But honestly, I didn't really care too much what he did, I just liked looking at him. I was in love since his first day at the hospital, tailored lab coat and all. He was the only doctor left from the original cast and I feel like I've lost the connection to the show.

I read somewhere that they wanted to kill him off because the show hasn't had a death as impacting on the viewers since Dr. Greene's death.
I'm glad that Anthony Edwards is coming back though, even though I have no idea how they are going to put him in there since he's been dead for 7 years. I've heard flshbacks but you never know.

It may seem like a lot, but I say start from the beginning and slowly work your way through. The boxsets are relatively cheap, and although it naturally has some creative lulls, overall it's a fantastic series.

I guarantee 100% you'll love it. I've watched this show since it first aired in '94. In the beginning it got nominated for tons of Emmys. I admit for a while as lots of the main cast left, it got a bit stale, but this past season especially has been nothing short of amazing, and it had better get some recognition next year.

It was a wonderful episode. And George Clooney was right back as Doug Ross. It was greating seeing them so happy together after all those years. Its been 9/10 years (!) since he left the show.
E.R. was great in the frist 6 seasons. And even after that is was far better than any average TV show. I almost stopped watching in season 9, but with the end of season 10 I was back in love again with ER.

I watched Thursday's episode on Hulu last night. It was definitely nostalgic. I kind of gave up on ER after the first few seasons. It just didn't capture my imagination and attention anymore. Seeing the old dynamic between you know was fantastic. I wasn't surprised that they had the other two not realize what Doctor in Chicago they had helped. What's weird is I think Ross didn't even mention Carter when he was listing off the names of people that had been at County.
I always assumed that ER was shot in LA. I'm assuming they just do second unit filming in Chicago, right?
It was even weird watching a few epiodes on TNT a few months back from like 2001 that I had not even seen.
I wish they wouldn't have changed the theme though.

Right. He saw potential in her, and was trying to encourage her by calling her "Dr. Green". Today they repeated the series finale. I still missed the first 15 minutes, but it established that Rachel Green was now 22 and going to Duke University. She was one of many students from around the country doing a tour of County who was interested in going to med school.
I also noticed in the first hour they had Sam Jones III there ;). I know he was on ER in the past, but I don't remember how long ago. I had caught some random re-runs on TNT.
