clubhouse--Dean Cain's New Show on CBS

on Tuesday 8pm CST coming this fall.

CLUBHOUSE is a drama about a 16-year-old boy who becomes a man in a world of overgrown boys when he takes a job as a batboy for a professional baseball team. For the first time, Pete Young (Jeremy Sumpter) takes a risk--perhaps the only risk of his young life--when he applies for and lands his dream job as a batboy for the New York Empires. The problem is his single mom, Lynne (Mare Winningham), has no idea what he's up to. Until now, he's been the golden boy while his rebellious older sister, Betsy (Kirsten Storms), has always been in the doghouse. On the job, Pete becomes a part of a new family that includes Conrad Dean (Dean Cain), the team's captain and star third baseman and one of the boy's all-time idols who takes on the role of an older brother. Also in the clubhouse is his boss, Lou Russo (Christopher Lloyd), a gruff but fair equipment manager who becomes a much-needed father figure; Rich (Marc Donato), a fellow batboy who just happens to be the general manager's nephew; Carlos Tavares (John Ortiz), a rookie who believes that Pete is his good luck charm, and Jose Marquez (J.D. Pardo), the Empire's territorial head batboy. Pete is over the moon at being a member of his favorite team, but he must still balance life at home and life in the big leagues as he faces the moral dilemmas and curve balls that life throws his way.

Jeremy Sumpter as Pete Young
Mare Winningham as Lynne Young
Kirsten Storms as Betsey Young
Christopher Lloyd as Lou
Dean Cain as Conrad Dean

IF I NEVER SAW DEAN CANE ON SCREEN AFTER NEW ADVENTURES IT WOULD BE FAR TOO SOON. HIS ACTING WAS A JOKE AND HE WAS NEVER A BELIEVABLE SUPER HERO. NOW THAT WE HAVE TW I REALIZE JUST HOW AWEFUL CANE REALLY WAS. THE ONLY REASON THE SHOW SURVIVED AS LONG AS IT DID WAS BECAUSE OF LOIS!

Umm... Flavius, this is a thread about Dean Cain. The least you can do is spell his name correctly, among other things.

Dean Cain is a relatively good actor. I guess if you haven't seen any of his work outside of Superman: TNA you wouldn't know. Even though, I see nothing wrong with his work there.

I'll tune into Clubhouse just to see what's up with Dean. To be frank, the show sounds and looks (based on clips) terribly boring. Oh well, I won't judge until I've seen an actual episode.

I am sure by now that some of you have heard of Dean Cain's new show Clubhouse. I was highly skeptical tuning in for a few reasons. One, I cannot stand Jeremy Sumpter who plays the main character Pete whose dream it was to always become a batboy. The second reason is sports dramas rarely succeed as television shows. The last sports drama Playmakers was excellent and it was cancelled after one season.

Since I love baseball, and since Dean Cain did play Superman afterall, I tuned in to watch the pilot. It turned out to be one of the best pilots I have seen in quite sometime. The pilot was funny and extremely well done overall. They did a great job at capturing the baseball atmosphere and the show is also very dramatic as well dealing with different issues that trouble kids today like drugs, cheating etc.. The actress who plays Pete's mother Mare Winningham is a fantastic actress and very believeable as a single mother raising two teenagers. Christopher Lloyd who I am huge fan of, was outstanding as Lou the head equipment manager.

I highly recommend this show. Now time will only tell if the show can remain as good as the pilot. But I am actually hopeful towards this show now, and before it looked like it would be terrible. If you don't believe me, USA Today rated Clubhouse 3 1/2 stars out of 4. Unfortunately with how few new shows succeed nowadays, I have a feeling that it will get canceled, especially since Clubhouse did not have a lot of buzz going in.

No it doesn't re air!!

The aired the pilot on Sunday, and they are airing the second episode on Tuesday. For some reason this year, they have been airing the pilots of new shows on a different night then when it usually airs.

I caught most of the pilot and I have to agree with you once again, Vyperman - "Clubhouse" was an entertaining show and is well-worth scheduling time to watch each week if they maintain the quality of acting and writing.

Hopefully I won't be too lost without watching the pilot.

The only worry I have for the show besides the lack of fan buzz, is that they might run out of ideas pretty quick. If they try to have each episode focus on something dramatic like steroid use in episode one and now a corked bat in episode two, there is only so many things you can come up with.

I am still realing over when CBS canceled the show Now and Again. Great premise of an insurance salesman who is pushed in front of a subway train. The government manages to salvage the guy's brain, and he comes back looking like a completely different person with the strength of superman, etc.. It was an extremely good show because we not only got to see the character use his new abilities, but he also had to deal with not being able to see his wife and daughter as well. The season ended with an awesome cliffhanger too, and then CBS axed it. I am hoping the same thing does not happen to Clubhouse.

I've been watching it and I think it is really good. That's why it surprises me that it hasn't been getting much attention. I mean, I don't expect people to be totally in awe of it, like Lost or Desperate Housewives but I think it deserves a little more recognition.

At first I thought you might be wrong, simply because I did not know if you knew about the move to Saturdays. But now that I went to Futoncritic, I saw the story. All I can say is that sucks because Clubhouse was a good show. Do you ever notice that when they cancel the show, the previews for the episode that they were supposed to show look great? Next week's episode looked very good and I wanted to see it. Why couldn't they have aired at least the one episode they had left?

I found out on K-Site. Craig posted something about it. I'm so sad. It was one of my favorite new shows this season :(

The reason why Playmakers failed was because it was TOO realistic for ESPN. It was so gritty that even with all of its popularity, it got cancelled.

I liked how the pretty-boy quarterback from Playmakers was on Clubhouse for two episodes.

The best episode that I saw of it was the night of hell where they stayed at the stadium all night.

Whoever thought Zenon could act?
