What is it used for? Danko must have killed Samuel's brother and took it.
I was wondering that too but I wasn't sure if that thread should be in the speculation/spoilers but we'll see how it goes haha
Well, we know that the compass only worked when a person with powers was holding it so that must mean something. Maybe someone with powers made it so that they could find others?

When the compass was in Peters hand all it did was spin wildly out of control. Maybe Samuel is the only one that can make it work properly.

That's true it was going crazy. Maybe you have to be concentrating on something for it to point out that way or path to get to the person or place you need to go?

Maybe it's simular to the "compass" thingy that the Mormons used to find America. Gives them direction on where to find what they are looking for.

That is exactly what I was thinking about when they showed that the compass was broken for HRG but spun around for Peter

Didn't he toss' the A compass in the grave?
I'm sure it will (once ready) show the way to the carnival...ICP style!!!!!!!!!!!

I think its like in "Pirates". Since peter cant decide what he wants in life, it spins out of control. It also only works in the hands of Meta-Humans.

I assumed it would have eventually stopped and pointed in the direction of where the Carnival is. *shrugs*

That compass is weird. Don't know why the Carnie leader wanted it so bad since he tossed one in the grave with the other dude... unless that's the same one... Danko didn't go grave robbing did he?!
Plus Carnie leader seems to have a tattoed compass that spins all hey wire that he showed Hiro, so it's not like he NEEDS it unless he was just mad about the grave robbing, lol.

My first thought was that depending on the evolved human's potential, it would spin slower or faster. And maybe if he or she focussed, it would point the way to another evolved human.
Kind of like a Molly in device form :D

The potential thing is a very good possibility. It would explain why it didn't do anything with normal people holding it and why it went spun super fast when Peter did..

I rewatched the ep and in the begining during the funeral scene, I could swear I can see one of the random carnies there holding a compass of their own in a quick shot. Maybe all of the carnie peeps have their own compass?

So is it Samuel that makes his tat spin or the tat itself? Cause I thought his power was moving earth.
