Pronouns are words that replace nouns. For example, we can replace "Clark Kent" with "he" or "him". We can replace "Lana Lang" with "she" or "her". This game is simple. Your job is to identify what the pronoun refers to (using a group of clues OR by figuring out the context from a piece of dialogue). A question on this thread may look like this:

-"it" was a theme in the episode "Unsafe"

-"it" finally happened for two main characters in the episode "Mortal"

-"it" sometimes got Lex Luthor into trouble.

The "it" in this case is "sex". *It doesn't have to be this obvious. I picked an easy example so people would get how to play the game.

OR

A question on this thread might look like this:

"I dug holes, I used my x-ray vision, but it's like she just vanished."

Who is "she" in the above quote? The answer, of course, is Sara Conroy (the quote comes from the episode "Slumber").

Make sense? Good. I'll go first...

-Lois did "it"

-Lana and Jason talked about doing "it"

-Lana thinks Seth does "it"

*What does "it" refer to?

Is "she" a guest star? If so, does "she" appear more than once? Could "she" possibly be someone connected to the murder investigation in Bound? Maybe Shannon Bell?

SGuthrie27

Could it potentially be Kara? She briefly put her trust in Lex. She surprised Clark by her mere presence, for sure. She was a threat to anyone who opposed her, and a means to an end for BRAINIAC. That's probably too simple, though...

A-HA! It's Sasha Woodman, the Bee-Girl who appeared in Season 1's "Drone" and Season 7's "Cure!" She put her trust (erroneously) in Curtis Knox. She surprised Chloe by even being out of Belle Reeve and in Smallville. She was a threat to Martha, Paul Chan, and Felice, among others, but she was a means to an end for Curtis Knox, who was trying to help his wife become immortal like him.

I was at work all day; sorry, folks! Okay, here's a new one. It may not be a terribly difficult one as it's my first attempt at this puzzle...

*You might run across "it" while doing some light reading in a certain book.
*"It" has been passed among many people on Smallville.
*Clark has been surprised to discover that both Martha and Chloe have had "it" at different times on the show.

What is "it?"

The Kryptonian Key to the Fortress, maybe?

SGuthrie27
08-08-2009, 07:32 AM
YES! You got it, RedK! It was hidden inside the book in the Kent barn. Many characters, like Virgil Swann, Steven Hamilton, Lex Luthor, Lionel Luthor, Chloe Sullivan, Martha Kent, Jonathan Kent, Dr. Walden, etc., have held the key. And, Martha hid it in a flour can and buried it in "Fever," which surprised Clark, and then Chloe used it to get to the Fortress in "Solitude," "Traveler," and "Beast," the last of which especially shocked C.K. You're up next!

Jimmy tried to share "it" with Chloe

Lois often worked with "it" on her jobI think "it" might be whipped cream.

Lex got it when Lana served him the "not even close" coffee during her one day at the Beanery in Hothead.

Jimmy brought a can of whipped cream as "dessert" to share with Chloe at the Talon apartment in Subterranean but was stymied by Javier's presence.

And Lois often laced her concoctions with whipped cream when she worked at the Talon (and even after - her triple espresso mocha cappulatte that she gave Chloe in Prototype had plenty of whipped cream on top).

Actually, none of those really "fit" perfectly. I'd say she was disgusted because of what "it" signified. If would kind of be like the expression you'd get on your face if you got a letter in the mail saying you had jury duty. "It" represented something Lois didn't really want to have to deal with.

YES!!! It's POINTS!

-In Leech, Clark didn't have his powers and participated in a pick-up basketball game with Pete against Whitney and his friend. Clark and Pete didn't score enough "points" so they lost the game.

MrsK

It is a solid noun - something you can hold in your hand.

So them mean it's plural? As in "points"?Online dictionaries describe "them" as a "noun used with a singular or plural verb" and "noun - plural but singular or plural in construction." In the context of a metaphor that Lex used, he meant physically holding them

Did Clark lie about "them" to protect himself (or his identity)? Or to protect someone else. Or for someother reason?
