Post your favorite Top Ten episodes of Season 4 here! Add details and commentary if you wish, but it's not essential. I'm anxious to hear which episodes make the cut for you!

1 - Commencement - This is the best season finale Smallville has ever had. I really wish that more episodes had a longer airtime like this one did. Everything about it was amazing... I don't think I can say more about it other than it was just top-notch. No wonder it won the Episode Elimination Game.
2 - Pariah - This episode had two major things going for it, the first being the fact that I actually liked Alicia Baker, which is quite a feat considering I kinda hated her in "Unsafe" and "Obsession," and the second reason is 'cause Chloe discovers Clark's secret and decides not to confront him with it and just wait until he's ready, which shows how much she's grown and matured as a character since the first two seasons.
3 - Blank - The way Chloe gave Clark a tour of his life after he lost his memory was what really made this episode great for me. It was fun seeing what choices Clark was going to make in spite of not remembering who anyone was or what had gone on before. There were plenty of great moments from everybody in this episode, but it was the Chlark stuff that really sold it for me.
4 - Transference - Just for the Tom Welling and John Glover acting alone, this episode is highly deserving of a spot in the Top Ten. I can't imagine how hard it must've been to convincingly act as the opposite character for these two, but they pulled it off well, and made it an extremely interesting, fun to watch episode.
5 - Run - Bart Allen is my favorite Justice League member that's been introduced on Smallville, and this episode is the reason why. I'm so glad that they've had him make two return appearances, and will look forward to seeing him come back again.
6 - Crusade - This is one of the weaker Season premieres, in my opinion. Sure, it introduced Lois Lane, had Clark flying, and opened the doors for the season-long Stones of Knowledge and Lana/wtiches plots... but it's those latter two features that also made it a little bit of a drag for me. I didn't really care for the overall plotline of the season. Plus, there was no Chloe other than the introductory video, so that made it even less interesting for me. Still, it's worthy of being in the Top Ten.
7 - Spirit - Great comic relief in this episode!!! Watching Martha, Lois, Lana, and Chloe all acting as Dawn Stiles was a hoot to see! Plus, we got to hear three songs by Lifehouse, and they're one of my favorite bands. The only drawback to the episode was that Chloe didn't get a single dance with Clark, and that was a rather stupid move on the producers' part to me, even though I know they were trying to shove Clana down our throats again, grr...
8 - Onyx - This was a creepy episode, and underrated, in my opinion. Michael Rosenbaum did a great job showing us the two sides of Lex, and even the slightly lame "Man in the Iron Mask" element didn't detract too much from what was otherwise a solid episode.
9 - Jinx - I know that many people don't care much for this incarnation of Mxyzptlk, but I still thought he did a good job. There were lots of cool character-building moments for Clark, here, and I liked the conversations he had with Jonathan, especially when Mr. Kent finally came to accept and realize that Clark knew what he was doing and had grown up so much. Chloe had some great moments, too.
10 - Sacred - Funny that I should pick this episode considering how much I disliked the Stones of Knowledge arc, considering... well, it's all about Lana-Isobelle and the Stones of Knowledge, ha! Still, it felt more epic with taking the characters to China, fighting in that temple, Lex and Jason being arrested, and so on.

Season 4 had some AWESOME high points -- some of the best episodes of the entire series are in this season!!! Too bad the ENTIRE season couldn't have been this good. Yes, Facade, Bound, and Ageless, I'm talking about you... :p

I like season 4 :)

1. Transference - one of the greatest SV episodes ever. For any season.

2. Commencement - amazing effects, great tension, and great set-up for S5

3. Run - Bart rocks. Or, he did in this episode. Still the best future JLA'er introduction to Clark.

4. Crusade - He Flies! Lois is introduced. And Lex is alive and kicking.

5. Unsafe - Calicia is the Hotness!

6. Blank - Everything about this episode just clicks

7. Onyx - MR chews up the scenery and has a great time doing it.

8. Spirit - Funny, funny episode.

9. Devoted - Really entertaining, light-hearted episode with wonderful performances by TW, AM and ED.

10. Jinx - Interesting take on a mythos character, with a great football sequence, and Chloe is super spunky mode.

i understand where your coming from it just i felt there were way too many forgettable episodes in this season (facade, gone, devoted, spell, spirit, blank, krypto, ageless forever etc) i realize other seasons had their fair share of fillers as well its just the cheesinees was brought to an all time high. Plus clark was so depressing this season it was unreal

I could comment on each but probably easier just commenting on all the episodes on a whole(since they seem to have one common theme). Basically in this season we find Clark actually can live somewhat a normal life without finding stuff that gets him depressed to distract him.

Crusade and Commencement are probably the best Season Opener and Ender on the series. Transference and Onyx are slightly darker without all the Clark angst, and the rest of the episodes on my list just pure fun and it entertaining to watch Clark live in an enviroment where him being happy is the norm rather then the exception.

S4 was very entertaining to me that alot of other episodes that I enjoyed such as Gone, Devoted, Pariah, Blank, Jinx, Facade and Sacred miss the cut(all could have easily been #9 or 10 on my list).

2 - Pariah - This episode had two major things going for it, the first being the fact that I actually liked Alicia Baker, which is quite a feat considering I kinda hated her in "Unsafe" and "Obsession"

My main beef with Pariah(although I enjoyed it) was how they made Alicia go back on her word that she would keep Clark's secret. Hell she took a bullet for him the previous episode. They couldn't let the character leave with any little bit of diginity(ie she might be crazy but at least she was good at heart), instead they sold the one positive thing about her character to build up Chloe's story

Y'know, that is kind of sad, too. I know why Alicia did it -- she thought, in her own twisted way, that it was the only way they could truly be free and together, but it is a little bothersome that she went back on her previous promise. Still, at least Clark never actually (as far as we know) learned that Alicia had staged it to show Chloe, unless Chloe herself told him offscreen. I think she was also just feeling so desperate since Clark had pretty much completely given up hope that she was being truthful and was even going to give evidence on her to the sheriff, who told him she couldn't have possibly been the one to attack Jason. What saddens me most about the story is that the pair were never able to make amends with each other.

1) Run - Bart's intro was handled the right way in this episode. There was great interaction between Bart/Clark, plenty of power displays, and the race at the end provided for the best ending of the show IMO.

2) Transference - My favorite single episode storyline they came up with. Lionel having powers is such a great idea with so much potential. They really pulled it off, and Tom Welling actually did a great job pulling off all the manerisms in this one.

3) Onyx - Michael Rosenbaum was great in this episode. Getting to see a completely evil version of Lex was fantastic and of course everyone remembers the line "I am the villain of the story."

4) Pariah - I hated Unsafe. However, Pariah was a great follow up episode and well done from start to finish. You had emotional moments with Clark finding Alicia dead and screaming along with testing his moral limits and almost killing the Sandman. You had great FX with Clark catching the car. Chloe finds out the truth. Just an awesome episode.

5) Crusade - Clark takes flight, the intro of Lois, and great pacing/suspense for the whole episode.

6) Commencement - I have grown to like this episode a lot more overtime. At first when I saw it on TV, I wasn't really blown away by it like many others were. However, with repeated viewings on DVD, I have grown to appreciate it a lot more. I think what I like most is how Clark handles himself in this episode, taking responsibility and putting himself out there. A great scene is when he saves the kid from getting hit by the meteor.

7) Jinx - I really enjoy this episode a lot. The save scene at the end with the football game was awesome, and even though Mxy didn't follow the mythos, he was still a great character. This was also the episode that introduced L33.1.

8) Blank - A good episode. However, the reason it isn't higher on my list is because of the fact that Clark doesn't find out that Chloe knows. The whole episode was geared towards this, and for it not to happen, was a bit of a dissapointment. There was no need to shove it off to Arrival. If Clark wasn't going to find out in the end, why even have Chloe be the one to help him get his memory back?

9) Spirit - I like this episode for pure entertainment reasons. It is funny and has moments where it doesn't take itself too seriously - posessed Martha dancing, "The crown's mine bit*h", etc.. Not my all time favorite episode or anything. Still an enjoyable episode to watch.

10) Devoted - Like Spirit, this episode is entertaining to me. There were many moments that cracked me up. My favorite of all being Chloe hitting on Clark in the football jersey.

To be honest Commencement to me is one of those episodes that was great on first viewing but the more I watch it the more luster it loses. Probably the main problem for me is I feel the payoff in Arrival was terrible leading to alot of bad S5 plots.

I don't know. Every time I watch commencement I just get really excited and realize why i love this show so much. But I agree, Arrival was a bit of a disappointment afterwards.
