Never before has a date in history been so significant to so many cultures, so many religions, scientists, and governments. A global cataclysm brings an end to the world and tells of the heroic struggle of the survivors.

Starring John Cusack, Amanda Peet
Director Roland Emmerich

This movie looks interesting and I've heard a little about the theories on which this was based so I might want to go see it. And John Cusack's in it? He's amazing!

Just watched the trailer... WOW, is it intense! Now I really want to see it!

I'm in the minority here, but that trailer was not that great.

Here's the basic premise: Hollywood is trying to scare the crap out of people over something that will never happen.

Oh yeah, it will never happen. But it's just fun to see things being destroyed. I'm weird, yeah, whatever. Plus, two words: John Cusack! Plus, more words: the little kid from Psych. I want to see this movie even though I don't believe the world will be destroyed in 2012. I often don't believe the premise in movies but that doesn't make them any less entertaining.

I think that's the premise for a lot of movies, and as long as it's fiction, who cares? They made The Omen remake and released it on June 6th, 2006. Nothing happened; people still saw it.

You make it sound like they're advertising a "How-to" video for surviving the end of the world. People know it's just fiction. Right?

Right?

You can never be too sure

If this movie is like a 'How-to' video, it could be handy, and maybe sub conciously prepare us for it.

It's a Roland Emmerich film. Therefore, the effects will be awesome and the story will be as if it were written by a 13 year old mental patient.

It's kind've like a Michael Bay film now that I think about it... only slightly more watchable because Emmerich doesn't shake the camera like a monkey.

Just saw it. The effects were good. The story was typical of a modern
disaster film. Most of the escapes were unbelievable. They went as far
as to find an Arnold impersonator, but Danny Glover filling the role of
Obama was a joke. They could have picked a closer-looking actor.
The governments of the world doesn't do anything with any expediency,
so, building six "Noah's Arcs" in three years was unbelievable. They
can't even build new rockets to go to the moon in under fifteen years.
They're too busy with greed and corruption to bother with the good
of the people. Oliver Platt's politician was closer to reality than
Danny Glover's President. The bright spot in this film was Woody's
character. He was a riot. I'd give this film an average grade. C+.
I did get up out of my seat a couple times from intense situations.
The effects were pretty cool. The acting was mediocre at best.

There were parts of this movie that were cheesy as all get out... like the fact that John Cusack and his family barely slipped past disaster so many times you had to suspend disbelief - but it was a really fun movie. The effects were very good (although I did laugh at the ridiculousness of some of it) and I was entertained all the way through. I'd actually recommend seeing it in theaters for the full experiences, but yeah, I definitely liked it.

I saw this last night/this morning. To be honest, it kinda reminded me a bit of The Day After Tomorrow with the whole climate changing thing. I didn't really pay attention to the beginning, so I don't really know what went on then, but it was okay; I liked it. The special effects were really cool, though.

I saw this movie friday night..Yes I really said friday night, high school football took off Smallville on my CW station..Anyway, I thought it was a really good movie..The special effects were awesome! Woody Harrelson's character was hilarious! Everything he said came true and he went out with a bang! It was a long movie but it didn't feel like it was dragging though. My brother said there was alot of death and dismay in the movie:lol: Atleast we know what will happen in 3 years!:rotfl:
