Tru had determined that for tonight, she's forgetting all of her troubles.
That's what found her at a night club with Harrison, who decided to tag along once he knew where his big sister was heading. Harrison, Davis and Jack have all tag teamed in order to watch over Tru. Harry believed that this might be the best medicine for her
Tru looked around at the flashing lights and dancing bodies as she made her way to the bar. Nightclubs were more Harry's thing. Tru usually didn't frequent them, but tonight she needed a nice fruity drink with alcohol and some down time.
She's realizing Jack was right about Jensen. A year ago she saved Jensen's life on a rewind day. She remembered the heartache of Jensen being shot in the chest, just like Luc. She remembered sitting for hours next to Jensen's body in the morgue, waiting for him to ask for her help, but he never did. Just like what happened to Luc
To her, it was Luc all over again and she was determined that if she couldn't save Luc, she'd somehow redeem herself by saving Jensen. She went to five different morgues to see if anyone would ask for her help, just so the day would rewind and she'd have the chance to save Jensen
Oddly, the day rewound on a pick-up for the morgue that she volunteered for and Jack had tried to talk to her, to reason with her on the rewind day. All she saw then was that this was the man that killed Luc. He may not have pulled the trigger, but he set up the circumstances. How could she listen to him regarding Jensen?
But now she sees Jack was right. Since she saved Jensen's life, it's like he's without a soul, without a conscience, going through life very selfishly now, taking everything from others and not giving back
She remembered Jack's words on the rewind when she was determined to save Jensen
She remembered them standing at the edge of the park while Tru was waiting on Jensen and they had a conversation about him
Jack had his hands in his jacket pockets and remarked with a sigh, "Let’s cut to the chase, shall we? I know you’re planning on saving Jensen, and I’m here to talk you out of it."
Tru wouldn't even look at him as she replied, "Considering you only see the lives of people who ask me for help, how’d you even know he died?"
Jack shrugged, "There’s plenty of ways to find out about a murder. Watch the news, listen to the police scanner. I relive days too. Remember?"
Tru folded her arms, still watching Jensen gather his gear and talk to his friends, "Well, you can save the speech about preserving fate. I’ve heard it."
Jack knew Tru was going to be stubborn, but he had to try. "Tru, it’s bad enough you save people that DO ask for help, but saving people that DON'T? You’re taking things to an entirely new level of bad."
Tru turned to face him, anger in her stance, "This from a man who pushed a woman with leukaemia off a building."
Jack winced inwardly. That was a job he took absolutely no pleasure in. His job is make sure the dead stay dead. A very thankless job, and he hated it. That girl asked for HIS help that time, what else was he supposed to do??
Jack had dismissed it from his mind to mull over later. Right now, there were more important matters
"There’s a bigger picture here, Tru. We may be on opposite sides, but each side has its rules. You break those rules, and the repercussions will be severe, not just for you, but for Jensen."
Tru's stance was even more formiddable, "Is that a threat?"
Jack had to harden himself as he looked into Tru's flashing eyes and he warned her, "It’s a guarantee. Believe it or not, I’m trying to do you a favour. Let me put his death back on track, for both your sakes."
Tru's eyes narrowed and through clenched teeth, she hissed, "If there are rules, you broke them when you killed Luc. I’m willing to do the same to save Jensen."
Then she walked away from Jack. Later that day, Jack had set it up where Jensen would be killed in an accident. An accident he knew was already going to happen, just placing Jensen in the right place at the right time. But Tru saved him in the nick of time
And now Tru, sitting sadly at the bar, received her drink and knew Jack had been right. If she would have let Jack do his job, she wouldn't be in this mess of dealing with a stalker ex-boyfriend.
She looked over at her brother, who had three women around him. She smiled to herself. Harry always had a way with girls. His boyish, Peter Pan charm seemed to attract them like flies to honey.
The loud music was blaring through the speakers and she watched the crowd dance to the beat. With a quick gulp of her drink, she decided to go out there and join in
To forget....... just for a little while
That the man she once loved is now a psycho. And a new man that kept popping up in her life as her adversary. Now they were working together against Jensen, and it's drawn them closer to each other. It's getting harder and harder to fight the attraction
And she was scared of her feelings for Jack. They do say opposites attract, and that definitely happened to them. Jack was her exact polar opposite
Last night they almost kissed. She found herself crying on Jack's shoulder after another run-in with Jensen. He stayed with her at her apartment and with her face buried in his shoulder, she had heard his whispered, "Tru?"
She looked up into his eyes, hers were teary pools of brown, his a clear green filled with something she'd never seen in his eyes when looking at her
A desire for something he couldn't have
He had started to bend down to kiss her, just to get a little taste, the progress slow and she was waiting in anticipation for his mouth to meet hers. But then he pulled away at the last second, whispered a tortured, "I'm sorry!" and he left
As she now pushed her way through to the middle of the gyrating bodies, she began to dance by herself to the fast beat. Different men have come up behind her, dancing with her, and she dancing with them, before they moved on to someone else. She never looked at them, she wanted to pretend for a little while that it was Jack. Fantasize for just a moment
Now there was a man behind her that seemed to use the same aftershave as Jack and he had placed his hands on her hips while dancing behind her. Usually, she doesn't like a stranger to touch her, but in this case, she just didn't care. She was imagining it was Jack
The man had now pulled her against him by the hips, her ass wiggling against his front. Feeling the man's desire behind her, now she was beginning to think that maybe this wasn't a good idea. Because there's only one man she would have allowed that kind of contact
She turned to tell the man to back off, and she was standing face to face with Jack. Her eyes widened in surprise
She yelled at him above the music, "How did you know I was here??"
His hands never left her hips and he stood closely before her, having to yell back, "I have my own connections Tru."
These past few months of working together against Jensen, the late night talks, the almost kiss of last night, have come together to this moment
Jack didn't hesitate any longer, he couldn't stop himself as he bent down and kissed Tru softly and shallowly on the lips, right in the middle of the dance floor, dancing bodies all around them, but none of them disturbing this moment
He took his time with her mouth, like he had all the time in the world. Tru's arms found their way around Jack's neck and Jack's hands were now against the small of Tru's back
Finally, Jack kissed his way slowly over her jaw and to her neck, feeling the pulsebeat against his lips. Her heart was hammering as hard as his
Finally he kissed his way to her ear and said, "Come home with me..... just for tonight. Tomorrow we go back to doing what we do..... but give us tonight Tru."
She leaned her head back to stare into Jack's eyes, seeing the sincerity and desire
She turned, took his hand and led him out of the crowded nightclub. Harrison had drove her there in his car. As she stepped outside with Jack, hand in hand, she pulled out her cell phone and called her brother. When she got his voicemail, she left a message that she had to leave with Jack and she'll tell more later.
Hopefully that will appease her protective brother for now
Jack opened the passenger door of his SUV to let Tru inside, a gentlemanly gesture Tru was not used to seeing in Jack. After closing her door, he walked around to the driver's side and jumped in
He watched Tru carefully as he closed the door. Jack picked up her hand in his, closing it in with his fingers and asked, "Are you sure about this? You can back out at any time."
She nodded, "I'm sure."
He had to let go of her hand long enough to crank up the SUV. Jack pulled out of the parking lot, then taking off quickly to his apartment, taking Tru's hand back into his once he was on the highway
