Is anyone else looking forward to this show? It looks like it is going to be pretty good. They are saying that fans of Monk will appreciate the show.
The season premiere is Friday March 12 @ 9:00 on USA. The premiere is two hours.

Apparantly, it is abou a detective that has a near death experience. When he comes back from the dead he is changed somehow. He uses that to help him when he solves cases. The show looks extremely cool, and Entertainment Weekly gave the show a B+.
How can you not be a fan of the show Monk Mr. Boejangles?? That is one of the best shows that is currently on. It is a very entertaining crime show. The crimes are very well done and hard to solve. Tony Schloub is also hilarious and a very good actor. His character is like Sherlock Holems who is afraid of everything.

i dont know... just from what ive seen of monk... it did not seem very funny.
I dont want to have to wait to get a punch line.

Monk is not meant to be a comedy show though. If you like mystery or detective shows, Monk is hard to beat. A lot of cop shows have cases that are easy to predict. However, the cases in Monk are unpredictable. It is actually fun to try and solve the case before Monk does.

Is this the British show starring Robson Green? or is it a US version? Because the UK show was amazing, i adored it. Robson Green is a very talented actor and he's also from my part of the world too (ie, North East England). If it's the UK version, then i recommend it and i hope you enjoy it :)

The Touching Evil that is starting tonight is the U.S. version. From the previews, it looks suprisingly decent. It is going to fill my Friday night crime fix while Monk is off the air.

Actually, if it IS the British version, it isn't. At least i'm 99% sure it isn't... it was shown here three or four years ago and was very popular. I think he's very perceptive but not a psychic like Johnny Smith.
ETA Actually there was a US version made, so this is the one you're seeing, but it is based on the UK version. Reading the synopsis on the official website, David Creegan "doesn't feel shame, has no regrets and nothing restrains his emotions"
Jeffrey Donovan plays Dave Creegan (it was Robson Green in the UK)

I liked it a lot. Way more than I thought I would. I wasn't even going to watch it, then I thought, "Hey, isn't that the guy who played Jarod's brother on PRETENDER? Guess I'll check it out." And I'm glad I did.

I watched it and thought it didn't go far enough into the why of the bad guy. \
The following would be spoilerish to someone who hasn't seen it so I will mark it as such.
I like the idea of a guy struggling to hold himself together and do his job. The lead actor was very good. I hope they do more with the female lead other than have her stand around. I see her being a Scully to his Mulder but she's gotta do more than she did.
I especially liked how Creegen dealt with the mentally ill man and took him to the facility that had helped him.
Definitely one to watch on Friday night.

I think they kind of did. I mean, I think I know why he did what he did. But I really didn't care about him all that much. I was too fascinated by Creegan. I mean, what an interesting, complex character. And the actor played him really well.

Probably too much L&O!!!
Creegan is the focus and I am interested enough to watch next week.

I loved the character-Going to be fun seeing him unfold.
My favorite scene; he's on the plane and hangs up his coat and there's nothing to hang it on so just falls to the floor.
I liked the homeless character; hope he's on it again.
Could see the English influence.

I liked it a lot too. I just wanted to see what it was like at first and then I got really involved. Creegan was very interesting and will definately be the reason I watch again next week. I really liked that he has kids too! Just another intrigueing aspect of his character.
Also, I thought he looked familiar! That was Jarod's brother!!!

If the rest of the episodes are anything like the pilot, this series is going to rule!! I thought the pliot episode was fantastic. I love the character David Cregan's attitude towards solving crimes. He cares about gaining justice for the victims, and he doesn't care about playing by the book. This makes the show kind of similar to The Shield.
Susan Branca and David Cregan make a great pair too because Susan is a straight arrow by the book type of agent. She highly resembles Gillian Anderson's Dana Scully from the X-Files. She looks and acts just like her. Plus, the actress who plays Susan Vera Farmiga is so incredibly hot.

Maybe I'm just sensitive to this, but was anyone else surprised by the amount of times the word S**t was thrown into the Pilot? That kinda caught me off guard, but hey, it's the USA network.
BTW, the show rocked. It killed me when he explained his little brain problem then threw the peanut away from his mouth.

Good show.

so-so show with a twist in the story.Vigilante cop. Yeah, that's a good way of handling your crisis. Leave your wife alone to handle the baby.

The show is more European in feel than American. Last nights show let the viewer indulge in his/her own revulsion at this idiot who took the easy way out and left his wife to deal with their child alone. It was more of a background ep for me, a chance to show how Creegan's reasoning may not be linear and that his bursts of inspiration can come at weird times but that they are right. He kept the bullets that would've tied his co worker to the first murder and discarded them. He also lied when he said there was no other evidence linking the man to the crime.
I enjoyed it.
Dannyblue1
03-28-2004, 07:48 AM
I think the last episode was an object lesson for Creegan. He himself wanted to kill that child murderer, and for the same reasons his co-worker did. Neither one could stand the thought of this guy being free to go on killing. And I think that, before this episode, Creegan would have thought killing a killer who was about to walk was a kind of justice. But he can't really think that way anymore. When it came right down to it, he thought it was wrong when his co-worker took the law into his own hands, so it would be wrong if he did it, too.

I adore this actor -- he's so interesting!
And this character is so novel -- but it was so totally lame two weeks ago when he let pyro-chick douse him with gas and she had a match in hand -- please! so ridiculous. They would have shot her right off the bat and then put the blanket on the old lady on the floor who'd be starting to burn.
That was so pathetically unrealistic that I even forgot to watch last week.. So I'm for sure gonna check it tonight to see if it's still good.

I've been watching Touching Evil since it debuted, and I love it. The whole idea of someone, after a tradegy, comes back different and isolated is nothing new, USA even toyed with this concept in "The Dead Zone". However, TE is just as engaging.
The latest episode was brilliant. Losing his family, and how he deals with it (tryign to externally become his old self) was both sad and riveting. Overall, I really think it's one the greatest shows out there: gritty crime mixed with peronsal drama. Creegan's interesting, of course, whether being kooky or brooding. Great show.

Speaking of last night's episode, did anyone see the skit done during the commercials involving Tony Schloub and Anthony Michael Hall?? They were both in character as Monk and Johnny Smith talking to each other. The Dead Zone and Monk are two of my favorite shows, and I loved seeing the two of them role play like that. Monk asks Johnny Smith about his visions, and Johnny says that he can see the past and the future. Then Monk goes on about how Johnny has to touch the person, and asks if Johnny can use a fork or another instrument as a conductor. Then Johnny says he would love to shake Monk's hand, but he has to leave, and then Monk calls him a weirdo.
Hilarious!!

yes, it IS an excellent show... however i missed one of them, and i haven't been taping them... (like a dumba*%!)
what happened to his little "friend" (the guy who thinks he's in a dream.) i thought that was a great storyline.
did i miss something?
i used to be a die hard x-phile (duchovny ONLY!)
and i think this is that caliber... i like beronka? too. what do you think about the monday night move?
Mayor of Central City
05-12-2004, 02:02 PM
Not to be snooty, but it's "Branca."
Cero (sp?) is a side-character that will show up randomly throughout the season. That guys great,a dn may have more of a role now that Creegan's family is gone.
I also loved the sketch between the two. Who two better characters to interact? I also believe that TE's switching to Monday is good; studies show that its easier for people to watch then. Besides 24, TE is my favorite show.
Did anyone lese like Creegan's one-episode change? It was pretty thought-provoking.

Loved it. Like last epiose, I though it added some wierd bits of backstory to her character, but everything was set up perfection; the characters were fun as always, the story was stellar, and I always love a change of venue for an episode.

The episode that aired on 5/17/04 entitled "Boston" was one of the best episodes yet. I enjoyed seeing Creegan go back to his home town. It was somewhat predictable on who the killer was however. I knew it was the mailman about halfway through the episode. The first thing that popped into my mind when they said that he saw the victims inpersonally, was that it had to be a mailman, because he would see the victims indirectly, and have access to their daily routines.

ok, i finally saw the rest of the episode... i can finally comment.
yes, him going "home" was interesting... was that guy on the ladder supposed to be his father? over all i thought it was the least interesting episode yet... and what happened to methos? (the agent who killed the child molester) i thought for sure he would stay on.
i also liked the "dancing" scene. he's such a dweeb sometimes.
this show is SOOOO x-files it's almost scary. ( i like that! )
branca is awesome, it's just great casting... still loving the monk/dead zone commercials.
however, i can't wait til next week with the cyrill? storyline. i don't know why i like them david/cyrill so much. they're both crazy i guess.
well, thank you guys for chatting about this with me. it's so nice to talk to someone else... my cat just looks at me like I'M crazy

Last night's episode was incredible. In some episodes, I've figured out who the killer is and go along for the ride. For in this ep...jeez. That came out of nowhere. I should've recognized the red herrings, but everything was so well put together...one of my favorites this season.
The finale looks to be a nail-biter.

Ok, I liked the finale as much as the opener--the best two episodes. Ciril, or Cyril is a very interesting character also. I like Branca much.
I wouldn't quite say that Kreegan is the most original character ever, but he's well played. Actually, the reason I am remembering how much I like this show is the fact that Jeffrey Donovan was on CSI: Miami. He played a real good bad guy (no surprise).
Well, let's get caught up here. Is Touching Evil coming back?
